Hypocrites do not live up to the standards they espouse. They speak one thing, yet do something very different. Numerous individuals assert that all Christians are hypocrites without understanding what the term “hypocrisy” implies or what it means to be a Christian. a person who claims or professes to have particular convictions about what is right but who conducts in a way that is in conflict with those values is defined as a hypocrite. Why Are Christians Hypocrites?

Most people get confused of the actual meaning of the word hypocrite.

Everybody is a sinner, but when a Christian sins the world puts it out there more because they expect us to be non-human when really a Christian that gives his life to Jesus Christ says Lord I am not perfect I am a sinner.

I have said this before not that I really felt this way, but I wanted to give myself a quick excuse for not wanting to go to church.

Work, school, home, it happens less inside the church, but it’s always publicized and advertised when something happens at church because the world tries to make us look bad.

The worst thing you can possible say is that you don’t want to know Jesus because Christians are hypocrites and by hypocrites you mean because Christians sin.

Would you not go to the gym because there are so many quitters and out of shape people?

We all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.

The difference is that God is working in the lives of true believers and they will not dive head first into sin.

People who live in hypocrisy are not Christians 14.

What does the Bible say about hypocrisy?

God is a hater. Those are words that may be unfamiliar to us. They may come across as inappropriate. However, a God who loves what is good must also despise what is wicked. The God who cherishes what brings glory to his name must loathe what brings shame to his name. In order for a God to love what blesses his people, he must despise what damages them. It couldn’t possibly be any other way, and we wouldn’t want it any other way, either!

We’ve been looking at what God despises over the course of a few articles, analyzing texts that use terms like “hatred,” “abomination,” and “detestable.” As we’ve seen, God despises idolatry, sexual immorality, and injustice in all of their forms. Now we’ll talk about hypocrisy.

God Hates Hypocrisy

God is enraged by hypocrisy. To be more specific, he despises it when people go through the motions of worship and appear to bring him their finest while actually bringing him their second-rate offerings. Why God Hates Hypocrisy

God’s Judgment on the Hypocrite

The New Testament makes it quite plain that hypocrites will be subjected to God’s most severe judgements. Nowhere else does Jesus express himself in such severe words as he does in Matthew 23, in which he pours forth misery after woe against the religious establishment. “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!” he says six times in succession. “Woe to you, blind guides,” he says at another point, changing his tone a little from the previous time. He criticizes these religious leaders for their lack of sincerity, for turning their religion into a selfish goal, and for blasphemously violating God’s word.

In Romans 2, we see Paul admonishing people against the dangers of hypocrisy.

… However, because of your hard and impenitent heart, you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath, when God’s just judgment will be revealed” (3, 5).

It is those who publicly criticize such evil while privately engaging in it who will bear the brunt of his judgement.

Hope for the Hypocrite

Despite the fact that hypocrisy is an abomination to God and a source of his most severe wrath, there is still hope for the hypocrite. The hypocrite’s only hope is in the person of Jesus Christ. “Do you presume on the riches of his kindness and tolerance and patience, not realizing that God’s compassion is intended to lead you to repentance?” Paul asks in Romans 2:4, warning of the severe consequences of hypocrisy, but also offering a ray of hope. God defers his quick judgment against the hypocrite in order to give him the chance and time to repent of his transgression.

In a hypothetical question to the Scribes and Pharisees some years before this one, Jesus said, “You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you going to avoid being condemned to hell?” By means of his crucifixion, Jesus provided the solution.

What Does Jesus Mean by Hypocrisy? It’s Deeper than You Think

In the modern day, we have tended to simplify the concept of hypocrisy to the concept of duplicity or deception. The fact that our current conception of hypocrisy as duplicity, while inadequate, does not represent a mistake is also obvious.

Because the audience changes, and he must evolve in response to that change.

Because the hypocrite’s (actor’s) primary purpose is to be noticed and get acceptance, the answer must alter if the group changes its mind.

He doesn’t have a core anymore; his identity is found outside of himself in whatever the audience deems necessary in order to give him their approval.

Many people’s lives are blighted by the fact that they do not know their heavenly Father.

In other words, the ultimate objective in life and the cure for hypocrisy is that it is enough that Your heavenly Father is aware of what you are up to in your daily activities.

When we start experiencing God the Father’s love for us, his providence, and his good will toward us on a deeper level, we become less concerned with what others think of us.

Take note, as well, of the connection that Jesus establishes.

He is more than just the Father, either.

Moving away from hypocrisy is an ongoing process.

More than anything, we are the true selves that God has made us to be, rather than the performer (the hypocrite).

We’re not as needy for their acceptance as we once were.

We still groom ourselves and behave in a professional manner, but we are not preoccupied with earning the approval of others.

As a result, hypocrisy, at least in the sense that Jesus teaches it here, is a more complex idea than we are accustomed to thinking about today.

Regarding this tragic and heartbreaking dilemma, Jesus offers an extremely potent and personally meaningful resolution that involves knowing “your heavenly Father” and feeling his love for you. Thank you, Jesus, for everything!
