The Rise of the Church of Christ in These Last Days

In his address to the small group of people gathered for the foundation of the Church on Tuesday, April 6, 1830 in Fayette, New York, Joseph Smith said, ″This is the work of God.″1 On that day, those in attendance witnessed ″beautiful displays of the Priesthood’s abilities.″ Several people were ″brought to repentance, immersed in water, and filled with the Holy Ghost4 by the laying on of hands,″ according to the New Testament.This marked the beginning of the ″marvelous labor″ of the later days, which was to lead souls to a knowledge and witness of the Savior.During the course of the Saints7’s development in gospel knowledge, the Prophet Joseph counseled them to ″realize the importance of their job and act as though success rested solely on their own efforts.″ 8 When the Prophet Joseph called for renewed fervor and energy in the cause of truth,9 he also urged members to advance ″the interests of the Church and the Kingdom of God.″ 10 11 According to the Lord’s revelation, ″I will shower a huge blessing on all those who labor in my vineyard.″ Twelve: ″To find ourselves engaged in the very same order of things as the holy Apostles of old; to realize the significance and solemnity of such proceedings; and to witness and feel with our own natural senses, the like glorious manifestations of the Priesthood, the gifts and blessings of the Holy Ghost, and the goodness and condescension of a merciful God unto those who obey the everlasting Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, have combined to create within us awe and wonder.″ ″After a joyous time spent witnessing and experiencing firsthand the powers and blessings of the Holy Ghost, which God had bestowed upon us through His grace, we were dismissed with the satisfying knowledge that we were now individually members of, and acknowledged by God, ‘The Church of Jesus Christ,’ which had been organized in accordance with commandments and revelations given by Him to ourselves in these last days, as well as according to the order of the Church as recorded in the New Testament.

In short, we are engaged…in a great work; in the work that prophets and seers have looked upon and prophesied of, namely, the gathering together of the Lord’s elect, the construction of temples for the redemption of the living and the dead; and, in the final analysis, the establishment of the kingdom of our God.″ Depending on the power of the spirit and the light of revelation that has shone upon his prophets since the beginning of time, these things have been more or less known″ (Deseret News, Jan.28, 1880, 818).

How did the Church get its name?

There is no evidence that Joseph Smith chose the name of the Church.The Lord’s approbation of ″the only real and living church on the face of the whole globe, with which I, the Lord, am well pleased″ was manifested in his actions as he followed specific instructions obtained via revelation (Doctrine and Covenants 1:30).The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints obtained its current name, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, via revelation (see Doctrine and Covenants 115:4).

What is the destiny of this Church?

According to Joseph Smith, ″the Standard of Truth has been established.″ ″No unholy hand can halt the progress of the work;…the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independently, until it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, until the purposes of God are accomplished, and the Great Jehovah declares the work completed″ (History of the Church, 4:540).

Why was it necessary to organize a new church?

″A great number of arguments are raised against the Latter-day Saints because they do not recognize the legitimacy of sectarian baptism and because they refuse to mingle with sectarian churches,″ Joseph Smith remarked.The alternative would be equivalent to pouring fresh wine into old bottles, as well as new wine into older bottles.What are you talking about, fresh discoveries in the old churches?

New disclosures would cause them to reach the bottom of their bottomless hole for the first time.Old bottles are being refilled with new wine!As a result, the bottles burst and the wine ran out!(4:426), according to the History of the Church.

When Jesus Christ lived on the earth, He gathered His disciples and founded His Church among them.As a result of widespread apostasy following His Crucifixion and the deaths of His Apostles, the entirety of the gospel was removed off the face of the globe.Our heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, restored the fullness of the gospel to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith and his followers.

The real Church of Jesus Christ has re-emerged on the face of the planet.Because of the Restoration, all individuals have access to the teachings and ordinances that are required to bring them to salvation.Here is a timeline of a few key milestones in the reintroduction of Jesus Christ as the Savior and the formation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which the Lord has declared to be ″the only genuine and alive church on the face of the entire planet″ (Doctrine and Covenants 1:30).The year is 1820, and it is the beginning of spring.In search of the real Church of Jesus Christ, 14-year-old Joseph Smith prayed in a grove of trees near his home in Palmyra, New York, where he was raised by his mother.Following his humble request, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ came to him and told him that he was not permitted to join any of the churches that were active on the planet at the time.

In Palmyra, New York, the first printed copies of the Book of Mormon were made accessible to the public.The date was April 6, 1830.The Church was founded in Fayette Township, New York, having just six members at the time of its founding.The date was March 27, 1836.The dedication ceremony took place at the Kirtland Temple, which was the first temple erected during this dispensation.

Summary of the Restored Church of Jesus Christ

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a Christian group that was founded in 1830 in the United States of America.Christians learn about Christian theologies through the church, which include restorationism, millenarianism, rejecting original sin, baptism by immersion, and the atonement of Jesus Christ.The core principles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are summarized in thirteen declarations known as the Articles of Faith, which were authored by the re-establishing prophet Joseph Smith, Jr.

The Restoration

The LDS Church believes that the true church was restored to the planet after the ″great apostasy,″ which was a period of time during which real prophets and priesthood power were no longer existent on the surface of the earth.It was in the year 1820 when a little child called Joseph Smith, Jr.pleaded for guidance on which of the various Christian groups was the most authentic.

In an appearance to Joseph, the Father and the Son, Jesus Christ, informed him that there was no legitimate church at the time and that Joseph would be the one to establish Christ’s church on the planet during that time period.Years later, an angel appeared to Smith, advising him that an ancient record engraved on golden plates had been buried in a nearby hill, and that he would be responsible for translating the plates from an ancient language into English at a later date.Over the course of several years, Smith completed a translation of the ancient document, which he then published as ″The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ″ in 1830.Smith went on to establish Christ’s church on the surface of the planet.During the course of the church’s expansion, John the Baptist as well as Peter, James, and John the apostles visited Smith and restored the priesthood to the earth by bestowing it on him.A number of God-inspired revelations continued to be received by Smith, many of which were documented in a book known as the Doctrine and Covenants.

  1. A number of subsequent prophets also added to the Doctrine and Covenants by writing down revelations they had received from the Almighty.

Jesus Christ

Crosses are not shown on LDS buildings or in its publications.Before, it was posed the question, ″How can they claim to believe in Christ if they do not appear to be represented by the cross, the emblem of Christianity?″ ″I do not wish to cause offense to any of my Christian brethren who use the cross on the steeples of their cathedrals and at the altars of their chapels, who wear it on their vestments, and who imprint it on their books and other literature,″ said Gordon B.Hinckley, the late president of the LDS Church, in response to this inquiry.

However, for us, the cross represents the dying Christ, whereas our message is a proclamation of the living Christ″ (″The Symbol of Christ″, Ensign, May 1975).The members of the LDS Church, in contrary to popular opinion, place Christ at the heart of their worship and religious practices.As far as we know, Jesus is the only One who has the ability to redeem men from their sins.Latter-day Saints believe that God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son are the only entities worthy of worship, and they do not worship any other objects or persons.The First Presidency of the LDS church composed and released their testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ on January 1, 2000, marking the beginning of the New Year.It is referred to as The Living Christ, the Testimony of the Apostles, or simply The Living Christ.

  1. As we remember the birth of Jesus Christ two millennia ago, we offer our witness of the truth of His unmatched life and of the boundless virtue of His great atoning sacrifice, which we believe to be true.

  • A crowd forced him to be arrested and condemned on bogus accusations, and he was eventually found guilty and put to death on the cross of Calvary.
  • He offered His life in order to atone for the sins of the entire human race.
  • His was a tremendous vicarious gift on behalf of everyone who will ever live on the face of the planet.
  • We solemnly declare that His life, which is at the heart of all of human history, did not begin in Bethlehem nor did it come to an end on the cross at Calvary.
  • Jesus Christ was the Father’s firstborn son, the Only Begotten Son manifested in flesh, and the Redeemer of the universe.
  • He arose from the dead in order to ‘become the firstfruits of those who slept’ (John 11:25).
  • (1 Corinthians 15:20).
  • As the Resurrected Lord, He paid visits to people whom He had loved throughout His life.

In ancient America, He also tended to His ‘other sheep,’ as John 10:16 refers to them.In the modern day, He and His Father came to the young Joseph Smith, ushering in the long-awaited ‘dispensation of the fulness of times’ that had been foretold by the prophets (Ephesians 1:10).The Prophet Joseph Smith described the Living Christ as follows: ″His eyes were as a flame of fire; the hair on his head was white as snow; his countenance shone above the brightness of the sun; and his voice was as the sound of great waters rushing, even the voice of Jehovah, saying: ‘I am the first and the last; I am he who liveth, I am he who was slain; I am your advocate with the Father″ (D&C 110: Furthermore, the Prophet stated about him: ‘And now, after the numerous witnesses that have been given about him, this is the testimony, which is the last of all, that we give about him: That he is alive!’ Indeed, we saw and heard him, sitting at the right side of the Father, giving witness that he is the Only Born of the Father—’that by him, by him, and through him, the worlds are and were made, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God’ (D&C 76:22–24).The priesthood and the Church of Jesus Christ have been restored on the earth, and we proclaim this with solemnity: ″built upon the foundation of…apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ himself as the chief corner stone,″ as the Bible says (Ephesians 2:20).

  1. We attest to the fact that He will one day return to the world.
  2. All of creation will behold God’s splendor when he reveals himself to them all (Isaiah 40:5).
  3. He will rule as King of Kings and reign as Lord of Lords, and every knee will bow and every tongue will speak in praise of Him before all the nations of the world.

In the end, everyone of us will appear before Him to be judged according to our deeds and the desires of our hearts.Because we are Jesus’ lawfully anointed Apostles, we bear witness to the fact that He is the Living Christ, the eternal Son of God.I am speaking about the great King Immanuel, who currently sits at the right hand of His Father.He is the source of light, life, and hope for the entire planet.

  1. His method is the road that leads to happiness in this life as well as eternal life in the world to come, according to the Bible.
  2. God is to be praised for the immeasurable gift of His glorious Son.
  3. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Saviour of all humanity.
  4. The Earth was created by Him under the guidance of God the Father, and He volunteered to take on mortality and sacrifice Himself in order to atone for the sins of the entire world.
  1. When He was in the Garden of Gethsemane, He bled profusely from every pore as He suffered for all of humanity’s earthly and spiritual sufferings, sorrows, and pains.
  2. As He hung on the cross at Calvary, His agony for mankind did not come to an end.
  3. Through His Atonement, Jesus saved all people from their sins, conditional on their repentance with a broken heart and a contrite spirit, as required by the law.
  4. Because He resurrected His body three days after His crucifixion, it is now possible for every individual who has ever lived on the planet to be reunited with their physical bodies after their spirits have left their bodies in death, thanks to His sacrifice.
  5. Christ is alive.
  6. He adores every single person that has ever lived, both virtuous and wicked, and He invites all men to come to Him in repentance and faith.

The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ

The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ was translated by Joseph Smith, Jr.from an ancient record written on gold plates.It is a historic and doctrinal record of the ancient inhabitants of the Americas, who are the progenators of today’s Native Americans.

The book reveals that native North, Central, and South Americans are descendants of two main groups; one that came to Mesoamerica at the time of the Tower of Babel, and another from Israel around 600 B.C.The record is a history of two main branches of the latter group, the Nephites and Lamanites.The plates record the significant preachings, wars, and main events of their history.The pinnacle of the record is Christ’s visitation and ministry to the Nephites following his crucifixion.The record ends after the Lamanites destroy the entire Nephite civilization hundreds of years later.The record’s namesake, Mormon, abridged the golden plates from many various records he kept.

The Mormon Pioneers

Those who were early members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were subjected to a great deal of persecution as a result of their religious convictions.They were compelled to uproot and relocate from place to place in the west as a result of threatening crowds.Persecutions against the Saints became so harsh only two short years after the execution of the prophet Joseph Smith in 1844 that they were forced to flee westward, traveling over 1300 miles through unexplored territory.

More than 7000 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints left Nauvoo, Illinois in February of 1846, preparing handcarts and covered ox-driven wagons for a journey that would last several months.They were seeking a land and a home where they could worship freely without fear of persecution.

The Saints obediently surrendered their previous lives in order to follow the Lord via His new prophet, Brigham Young, even if it meant selling practically everything they possessed.There were many people who died on the voyage over the Great Plains, as it was arduous and deadly.As they traveled through the wilderness, families suffered from famine and starvation, sickness and tiredness, extreme weather conditions, Native American ambushes, and the harsh natural elements of the environment.
