In Mary’s magnificent example, we can see how God may use those who have a great faith to do wonderful things.The type of trust that God is seeking for is described in Hebrews 11:1 as follows: ″Faith is now trust in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see,″ says the author.When Mary was called by God to be the human mother of Jesus, she had no idea how that would turn out, but she was sure in her belief that God would accomplish something magnificent via that plan.It was because of Mary’s great faith that she was able to play an essential part in God’s plan to preserve humanity.When God calls us, if we answer with a deep faith, he will use our life to achieve something significant in his own right as well.

Throughout my book Wake Up to Wonder, I demonstrate how everyone of us may contribute to the creation of a miracle by simply responding affirmatively whenever God calls us to action.
We may feel as though we are being taken to the edge of a precipice and encouraged to leap from it when God prompts us to take action.
God challenges us on a daily basis to develop in our faith, and we may not understand why he directs us to behave in a particular scenario or what will happen as a result of our actions.

Our mission, on the other hand, is all about love.
The greater the number of times we choose to react in love when God calls us, the less fear we will feel.
One of the promises of 1 John 4:18 is that ″there is no fear in love.″ ″Perfect love, on the other hand, drives out fear.″ We are free to discover more of God’s work when we remove fear from our lives.
As a result, when we remove fear from our lives, amazement pours in.
In my book, I discuss research that indicates how feeling wonder while facing uncertainty might help us see God’s guidance and purpose more clearly and effectively.
In other words, the more we intentionally choose love over fear, the more we can experience awe, and the more that awe will inspire us to pursue God’s purpose for our lives and respond faithfully when God calls us to follow his lead.

God invites us everyone to participate in his mission in the world, and he is delighted when we do it in a loyal manner.As the Bible explains in Hebrews 11:6, ″And without faith, it is impossible to satisfy God because everyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him with all their hearts.″ You can draw inspiration from Mary’s example of faith to put your own faith into action and to rejoice in the knowledge that God will reward you for your efforts.″How old was Mary when she had Jesus?″ one might wonder.The truth is that Mary was fairly young in age, but she was mature in her faith at the time of her conception.The way Mary put her faith into action was by pushing through her fears and continuing to accomplish the work God had called her to do.

She was more concerned with God’s promise to her than she was with her circumstances.

How old was Jesus’ mother Mary?

In biblical times, life expectancy was far lower than it is now, with the age of 40 considered to be a pretty old one.By being there at the Cross with the other witnesses, we may be certain that Mary was still alive at the moment of Jesus’ crucifixion.When Jesus was crucified, he was roughly 33 years old, which means that, unless Mary was a very elderly woman (relatively speaking) at the time of Jesus’ birth, she had given birth to Jesus at a very young age by contemporary standards.Isaiah makes this prediction concerning Mary (″behold, a virgin shall conceive and birth a son, and she will call him name Emmanuel,″ which means ″God with us,″ in Hebrew), and Luke narrates the story of the angel Gabriel visiting Mary to inform her that she is pregnant with Christ.Mary questioned the angel, saying she couldn’t comprehend her pregnancy since she was ″still a virgin.″ ″I am still a virgin,″ Mary explained.

In those days, a virginal girl was often defined as a girl who had either not begun menstruation or had just recently begun, and had therefore achieved her’state of womanhood,’ but who had not yet entered into a marriage relationship.
The marriage and birth of children by relatively young females (as compared to today’s norms) was fairly common in those days.
Because of improved nutrition, menstruation now typically begins at an even younger age than it did then, but back then, once a girl had begun to menstruate (say, at the age of 13-14), it was considered a symbol of her femininity, making her eligible to marry and have children.

As a result, when considering the cultural, Biblical, and chronological evidence in Mary’s case, it seems likely that she was between the ages of 14 and 15 when she gave birth to Jesus, and certainly no older than 16 or 17 at the time of his birth.
I’m going to presume that this questioner is referring to the time when she was expecting Jesus to be born.
Scholars assume that Mary was probably just 12 or 13 years old when she got pregnant with Jesus, according to their estimates.

Mary’s Weaknesses

Mary was a young, impoverished woman who happened to be a female.As a result of these characteristics, she was seen unfit to be used mightily by God in the eyes of her people.God, on the other hand, saw Mary’s faith and obedience.He was certain that she would be willing to serve God in one of the most significant roles ever given to a human being, the ministry of reconciliation.God evaluates us based on our obedience and faith, not on the credentials that other people think significant in life.

God will frequently choose the most improbable persons to carry out his purposes.

Life Lessons

Mary was determined to commit her life to God’s plan, no matter how much it would cost her in the short and long term.Mary’s unwed motherhood would be shamed as a result of her obedience to the Lord’s desire.It was certain that she anticipated Joseph to divorce her, and in the worst case scenario, he may even have her stoned to death (as the law permitted).Mary may not have realized the full depth of the pain that was ahead of her.The agony of witnessing her darling child bear the weight of sin and suffer a dreadful death on the cross may have been beyond her comprehension at the time.

But, as the mother of the Messiah, she must have realized that her life would be filled with many sacrifices.
Becoming God’s chosen one and being prepared to sacrifice all in the name of love and devotion for one’s Savior are two requirements for achieving such a lofty position.

Is it possible for me to be like Mary, willing to embrace God’s plan no matter what the cost? Is it possible for me to go one step farther and exult in that plan, just as Mary did, despite the fact that it will cost me dearly?

Do We Know How Old Mary Was When She Had Jesus?

Advent calendars, manger scenes, and paintings of Mary represent her as a youthful lady in her twenties when she gave birth to the Lord Jesus Christ, despite the fact that she was much older. Despite the fact that these representations are aesthetically pleasing, they are not biblically accurate. When she gave birth to Jesus, Mary would not have been in her twenties, according to tradition.

The fact that Mary accepted the responsibility of bearing the Lord in her womb indicates that she was well aware of this.
She didn’t dispute Gabriel or try to get away from God’s plan for her life; instead, she followed it.
When Mary tells Gabriel, ″I am the Lord’s servant…,″ she exhibits a tremendous deal of confidence in God.

Any reasonable person would have assumed that Mary had been unfaithful to Joseph, and this would have been their initial assumption.

It would have been impossible for you to accept that your engaged wife was pregnant as a result of God’s providential intervention.″Joseph son of David, do not be frightened to take Mary home as your wife since what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit,″ an angel of the Lord informed him.The child she will bear will be named Jesus because he will rescue his people from their sins, and you will be the one to give him that name″ (Matthew 1:20-21).When an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, he was reassured that Mary had not been disloyal to him, since she was the virgin spoken of by the Old Testament prophets, who would give birth to the Messiah (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:20-25).Even before the angel revealed to Joseph in a dream that Mary had not been unfaithful to him, he had made the decision to divorce her on his own.

Mary’s life would not have been spared by Joseph’s decision to divorce her in private, but it would have been saved by his decision to do it.
When readers read the tale of Mary’s pregnancy and the birth of Jesus, this detail is sometimes ignored.
Joseph demonstrated tremendous love, generosity, and faith via his deeds.

We do not know how old Joseph would have been at the time of Jesus’ birth; nonetheless, Jewish norms at the period required Jewish males to get married in their mid- or late-teens; yet, it is possible that they married when they were older than their late-teen years for a variety of reasons (Ibid.).

Why Does This Matter?

How Old Was Jesus When He Died?

How Do We Determine Jesus’ Age?

In Luke 3:23, we learn that Jesus was roughly thirty years old when he began his career (26-30 AD) and that he remained in ministry for three years, putting Jesus’ death between 29 and 33 AD.
In addition to the circumcision and Temple salvation, the Bar-Mitzvah and reaching the age of majority would have been significant events in Jesus’ life (20 years old).

What Were Some Milestones in Jesus’ Childhood?

Due to the fact that Jesus was the firstborn male, this was also the ceremonial of redemption.In this case, his family acquired the firstborn male by sacrifice (redemption), because all firstborn male kids (human or otherwise) incur a debt to the Temple.Teaching at the Temple when I was twelve years old (Luke 2:41-51).This occurred one year before the Jewish age of Bar-Mitzvah was reached (Son of the Commandment).At a time when Jesus was still considered a kid and when his father was still held accountable for his moral acts, Jesus stands alongside and educates the instructors in the Temple.

This is significant because it demonstrates that Jesus possessed intellect much superior to that of the most educated of the Jewish faith even before he was deemed accountable for himself or allowed to participate in religious rites.
When the Magi came to visit, I was only two years old (Matthew 2:16).
Another event in Jesus’ life occurred at a time when his religious and moral upbringing were not in play.
Using the information provided by the Gospel of Matthew, we may establish the ages of additional individuals associated with Jesus’ life.

In order to prevent any children under the age of two from being born in Bethlehem, Herod ordered his men to murder any children under the age of two who were present during their talk.
As a result, we know that Jesus was two years old when the Magi came to honor him.
We can also infer that Jesus’ family remained in Bethlehem for a period of two years following the birth of their son.

While it is possible that Jesus was born in a stable, it is more likely that his family had relocated to a more permanent residence.

Do We Know What Jesus Was Doing as a Young Adult?

The Bible does not provide us a detailed account of Jesus’ life from the age of twelve until he reached full manhood, but it does provide us with some indications of what he was up to during that period.Mark 6:3 has a line that was written by individuals who did not have a favourable opinion of Jesus, but they did mention something that they were aware of concerning him.He is known as ″the carpenter″ by those who have grown up with him and have known him since childhood.The fact that his father Joseph was a carpenter by profession is also known from other scriptures, and it would have been expected in the culture that Jesus would have learnt his father’s craft and carried on the family business.Another point to consider is that Jesus lived in close vicinity to the Herods (Kings of Israel, Judah, and Palestine), who were engaged in major construction projects at the period.

It is not impossible that Jesus may have worked on some of these projects while he was a young man because they required a considerable quantity of labor to be completed successfully.
Many academics have speculated for a long time that Jesus may have been a member of the Essene movement when he was a young man.
