I Don T Know Why Jesus Loved Me

Andraé Crouch – I Don’t Know Why Jesus Loves Me Lyrics

I’m baffled as to why Jesus chose me. I’m not sure why He cared, and I’m not sure why He was willing to give his life. Oh, but I’m relieved, I’m overjoyed that He did. He ascended to His majestic throne in splendour in order to deliver us the tale of salvation. Then He died, but He rose from the dead again. Oh, but I’m relieved, I’m overjoyed that He did. He walked away from His might. Oh, but I’m grateful, I’m grateful that He did. I’m so pleased He did, and I’m delighted He did it. What would I be doing if Jesus didn’t care about me?

What would have happened to me if He hadn’t given his life for me?

I don’t understand why Jesus loved me (oh, I don’t understand why) and I don’t understand why He cared for me (oh, I don’t understand why).

Oh, but I’m grateful (so grateful), grateful that He did.

I Don’t Know Why Jesus Loves Me by Andrae Crouch, The Disciples

Keep on Singin’ is a compilation of songs from the band Keep on Singin’. I’m baffled as to why Jesus cared about me. My understanding of why He cared and why He gave His life is enigmatic to me. Oh, but I’m relieved, I’m overjoyed that He did. He stepped down from His great seat of glory in order to deliver us the tale of salvation. Then He died, but He rose from the dead again. Oh, but I’m so delighted He did, I’m overjoyed. He abandoned His power (repeat). Oh, but I’m grateful, I’m grateful that He did.

Her older sister Susan Warner(1819–1885) wrote a novel in which the lyrics were delivered as a consoling poetry to a dying infant, and the lyrics initially appeared as a poem in the setting of the novel Say and Seal, which was published in 1860. William Batchelder Bradbury (1816–1868) composed the music for the piece in 1862.

Poem by Anna Bartlett Warner

When it was first published in 1860, it was divided into four stanzas, which were as follows: I am certain that Jesus loves me since the Bible tells me so: Little ones are important to him because they are weak, whereas he is strong. Jesus loves me—he who died for me; He will open Heaven’s gate wide; He will wash away my guilt; He will let his small child to enter. Despite the fact that I’m extremely weak and ill,Jesus loves me and continues to love me; He watches over me from his heavenly throne, where he sits.

Then, for the love of his dear father, his small child will be taken to paradise.

History

In 1943, the PT-109 of John F. Kennedy was rammed and sunk off the coast of the Solomon Islands. When the islandersBiuku Gasa and Eroni Kumana discovered Kennedy and the survivors, they recalled that the Marines performed this song with the indigenous, who had learnt it from Seventh-day Adventist missionaries while riding on PT boats to recover the survivors. According to several hymnals from the nineteenth century, this song was originally titled “China.” A subtitled comment in some early hymnals, such as The Modern Hymnal(1926), explains the significance of this title by stating that it is “The beloved Hymn of China.” Early twentieth century hymnals, such as The Baptist Hymnal (1975), did away with the subtitle and simply referred to this piece of music as “CHINA.”
