Yes, I tried my best on Sunday morning to make things bright and happy, rather than pounding Santa Claus into the ground as an antichrist-like idol who has taken the place of our Savior as the major emphasis of this season. It’s possible that a 5-year-old may have sat through the ceremony and not been dissuaded from his belief in the presence of Saint Nick. The entire goal of the talk was to draw attention to Jesus Christ by drawing a comparison between Him and the tale of Santa Claus. If you continued to believe in Santa Claus, there would be no comparison between him and Emanuel, the God among us, who came to earth in the person of Jesus Christ.

Rather than merely reading the outline – which I have also supplied (in case you want to follow along or utilize it – please feel free to do so).

Involving our children in the “Santa Claus” tradition exposes them to the strain of behaving in order to satisfy an imaginary persona.

After all, he diligently maintains and examines a list of every good and negative deed and thinking people have, don’t you think?

Better Than Santa

Although I don’t want to, I do sound a bit like the second coming of Ebenezer Scrooge. Allow me to remind you, though, that Christmas was never supposed to be a time when we were put under pressure. Christ’s birth is the true focus of Christmas; we are only bystanders. It is not about what we accomplish, but rather about serving as a reminder of what He has already done. Christmas is not about putting on a show; rather, it is about GRACE. And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, glory commensurate with that of the only begotten Son of the Father, who is full of grace and truth.

• 14 and 16 in John 1:14-16 This Christmas, don’t criticize yourself based on your ability to satisfy the expectations of others.
• Consider the price tag God has placed on your life this Christmas.
• You are valuable enough to Him that He sent His Son to die for you.

• This Christmas, keep in mind that YOU are the present that the Son of God gave to His heavenly Father.

Jesus is Better Than Santa Claus

The holiday season has officially here! Many of you opened gifts this morning and spent time with family and friends, as well as, ideally, spending time in worship of the Lord. In the case of several children, they awakened to find gifts from the jolly old man himself. Their anticipation built as they awaited the fabled guy from the North Pole to descend through the chimney with a sackful of gifts. But I want to spend some time today, as well as every day, to extol the virtues of Jesus and demonstrate how He is far superior to “Santa.” The gospel demonstrates how Jesus outperforms the merry old Saint Nick in every aspect.

• There is one clear manner in which Jesus is superior to Santa Claus: Jesus is a genuine person, whereas Santa is not.
• Nicholas, who was genuine and who was a virtuous man who was well-known for his giving, the modern-day Santa Claus is a creation of fiction.
• It is critical to comprehend and evaluate the thoughts and beliefs that behind the concept of Santa Claus so that we can demonstrate to people that Jesus is far superior and that our hope rests in the true Son of God, Jesus Christ.
• Even though Santa is just seen as a symbol of giving and joy, if you want your children to have a photo taken with him and participate in Christmas events with their friends and classmates, go ahead and do so.
• You do have a responsibility to guide kids toward a desire and love for Jesus that surpasses their affection for Santa Claus.
• Jesus came to forgive sinful children and sinful adults, and even though we don’t deserve it, He rewards us with eternal life and communion with the Father in heaven.
• “Santa Claus is on his way to the city.” Despite the fact that I’m not sure who created this song or what they did for a job, I’m confident in assuming that the person who composed it didn’t spend a lot of time around children.
• They don’t keep an eye on things; instead, they go about their business.
• And if Santa was genuine and followed through on his promises made in this song and others, no child would get Christmas presents this year.

“However, God demonstrates his love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” —Romans 5:8 We were actively defying God and telling Him “no” at the time when God the Son came and offered His life on the cross for us, taking all of our sin and the wrath of God with Him and putting it in the grave.

That skateboard Santa is delivering just doesn’t hold a candle to this one.

There are no such lists in the kingdom of Christ.

He’s going to double-check it to make sure no one who isn’t deserving of being there sneaks in via the back door.

Our sins have been forgiven, and we have been reconciled with God.

He knows everything about us.

According to the riches of his grace, “in him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our sins, and eternal life.” –Ephesians 1:7 There is no such thing as a list in Christ.

There isn’t any coal in the stocking right now.

Now, we obey God because He loves us, not because we want something in return.

This is something to keep in mind this Christmas.
