When Jesus Comes The Tempters Power Is Broken

Hymn: One sat alone beside the highway begging

The song cannot be played because your browser does not support it.

1 One sat alone beside the highway begging,His eyes were blind, the light he could not see; He clutched his rags and shivered in the shadows,Then Jesus came and bade his darkness flee.
When Jesus comes the tempter’s pow’r is broken; When Jesus comes the tears are wiped away. He takes the gloom and fills the life with glory,For all is changed when Jesus comes to stay.
2 From home and friends the evil spirits drove him,Among the tombs he dwelt in misery; He cut himself as demon pow’rs possessed him,Then Jesus came and set the captive free.
When Jesus comes the tempter’s pow’r is broken; When Jesus comes the tears are wiped away. He takes the gloom and fills the life with glory,For all is changed when Jesus comes to stay.
3 “Unclean! unclean!” the leper cried in torment,The deaf, the dumb, in helplessness stood near; The fever raged, disease had gripped its victim,Then Jesus came and cast out every fear.
When Jesus comes the tempter’s pow’r is broken; When Jesus comes the tears are wiped away. He takes the gloom and fills the life with glory,For all is changed when Jesus comes to stay.
4 Their hearts were sad as in the tomb they laid him,For death had come and taken him away; Their night was dark and bitter tears were falling,Then Jesus came and night was turned to day.
When Jesus comes the tempter’s pow’r is broken; When Jesus comes the tears are wiped away. He takes the gloom and fills the life with glory,For all is changed when Jesus comes to stay.
5 So men today have found the Savior able,They could not conquer passion, lust and sin; Their broken hearts had left them sad and lonely,Then Jesus came and dwelt, Himself, within.
When Jesus comes the tempter’s pow’r is broken; When Jesus comes the tears are wiped away. He takes the gloom and fills the life with glory,For all is changed when Jesus comes to stay.

WHEN JESUS COMES

My research into the origin of this magnificent song led me to two alternative accounts, neither of which I believe to be completely correct. I’m not sure which one is more accurate. It is stated in the first that the outstanding missionary Dr. Oswald Smith (1890-1979) served as a missionary to the West Coast Canadian Indians during the years 1915-1917. It took him many days to go reach the villages by packboat. Oswald’s faith was straightforward: he had a personal relationship with Jesus. Second, he understood that Jesus was the deliverer and the source of supernatural healing.

  • He was particularly moved by the grief and lack of hope that he witnessed during a traditional Native funeral for a small kid in his community.
  • The second narrative is about Evangelist Dr.
  • When their brother Lazarus died, he represented the sorrow that filled the house, as well as the grief of Mary and Martha who were left behind.
  • He thought the sentence would make a terrific concept for a song.
  • It was the month of May in 1939.
  • Dr.
  • Now, I have no clue which tale is right, but I believe that a portion of the hymn is based on the story of Bartimaeus, a blind man who was miraculously restored by Jesus as He went by the man on the street.

And even now, additional verses may be written as people’s lives continue to be transformed as a result of Jesus’ return.

And He decides to remain for a while.

As you contemplate on these lines this week, express your gratitude to God for the changes He has brought about in your life.

His eyes were blind, and he couldn’t see the light because it was too bright.

Then Jesus appeared and commanded his darkness to depart.

(2)He was driven away from his home and friends by demonic spirits.

After that, Jesus arrived and set the captives free once more.

(3) “Unclean, unclean!” the leper screamed out in agony; the deaf and the mute watched by helplessly; the fever raged, and sickness had taken hold of its victim; then Jesus appeared and threw out all dread.

As they buried him in the tomb, their hearts were heavy because death had come and taken him away; their night was gloomy and bitter tears were pouring; but then Jesus appeared and the night was turned into day.

(5)As a result, men today have discovered that the Savior is capable; they were unable to resist passion, lust, and sin; their shattered hearts had left them unhappy and lonely; but they have discovered that the Savior is capable.

When Jesus arrives, the power of the tempter is destroyed; when Jesus comes, the tears are wiped away; when Jesus comes, the gloom is removed and the life is filled with glory; because everything changes when Jesus stays.

Once, an elderly man stood alone along an interstate highway beseeching; his eyes were closed, and he could not see anything. He clenched his clothes and shivered in the shadows, until Jesus appeared and commanded the darkness to go. It is when Jesus comes that the Tempter’s power is broken, and it is when Jesus comes that the tears are wiped away The gloom is transformed into glory when Jesus enters the scene. Everything changes when Jesus comes to stay. He was driven away from his home and friends by evil spirits, and he lived in misery among the tombs; he cut himself as Demon Powers possessed him, and then Jesus appeared and set the captive free.

Those who were deaf and dumb stood nearby, helpless while the leper cried out in agony; the fever raged, and disease had encircled its victim; and then Jesus appeared and cast out all fear.

Afterwards, they arrived at Jesus’ location, where they discovered the man who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, seated, fully clothed, and in full consciousness. And they were frightened. The word “immediately” appears three more times in this passage. This brings the total number of times in Mark to 17 so far. Do you believe that God desires action? The man in our key verse was dealing with a lot of issues! That is a significant understatement. He was possessed by demonic spirits and had been shut off from any human interaction.

Lord Jesus, You are my Deliverer from ALL of the devil’s schemes and schemes of deception. I am free and in my “RIGHT MIND” because You have given me Your all-powerful NAME. You are very welcome as the Lord of my life as well as the Lord Mayor of our town. Every aspect of my life is subject to Your AUTHORITY! Amen!

100 PERSONAL WORDS:

The incident occurred after a Sunday night service, when many young people approached me and announced, “Kenny is below!” He was experimenting with drugs and dabbling in occult practices at the time. His parents and grandparents were active members of the church, but this 19-year-old did not attend services there. He was laying on the floor, writhing like a snake, and no one could get his attention. As a pastor, I had a strong sense of heavenly power descend upon me. I knelt alongside him and instructed him to call out the Name of Jesus three times.

  • and then JESUS cried out in a loud voice.
  • His father lifted him up as if he were still a child, and they hugged, and we all burst out laughing with glee.

Jentezen Franklin – Then Jesus Came

Hallelujah! Woo! Praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God, praise God. Alleluia, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah! Do you crave a sense of independence? Do you need freedom from your troubles? You’ve had enough of living in Egypt while being bound to fear, enslaved to failure, chained to humiliation, and chained to deception from the adversary regarding your future, haven’t you? It is possible to call on the name that is above all other names, and He will come sprinting to you.

  1. He possesses the ability to shatter any and all chains.
  2. The devils are forced to escape as Jesus appears.
  3. What is it that Jesus will bring when he returns?
  4. When Jesus comes back to earth.
  5. I had a feeling it was in there.
  6. Oh, how the power of the tempter is crushed when Jesus appears, hallelujah.
  7. He’ll replace the darkness, which has been settling over you like a cloud, with His splendor.

Do any of those verses seem familiar to you?

Dark.

Now is the time to sing the chorus.

Everything has changed.

Listen to this: He was living in misery amid the tombstones.

He cut himself, and this is where the amusing chord comes in.

The final verse must be sung by everyone.

I’m aware of the situation.

It’s dirty, it’s unclean.

That’s something we’ll do.

Their hearts were heavy with sadness.

Tears of wrath.

The tears, the tears!

You have the ability to transform in an instant.

Sing the second verse one more time in your head.

Today at Free Chapel, he’s the same as yesterday.

After then, there’s one more stanza that you have to sing.

There’s a line that reads, “Now men,” which means now.

So it is with today’s males.

Passion, desire, and sin are all bad things.

That’s all sin is capable of.

Then Jesus appeared and said, “I will take up residence within you.” Sing it one more time: When Jesus arrives, when Jesus comes.

Sing it, congregation.

Who doesn’t want to be free?

Who has been left feeling depressed, lonely, and broken?

It’s possible that you’re sitting on one of our campuses, and if God doesn’t intervene, you could even have stated, “I don’t even believe I’m going to put a stop to it all.” The Lord, on the other hand, steps in.

The fact that none of these young people are familiar with the song indicates that there is one individual in this group who may have came up with it.

An old hymn you hadn’t thought about in a long time and hadn’t heard in 40 years, it seems, but the Holy Spirit knows what He’s doing, and Jesus has come to take away the power of the devil from a person’s life this morning, according to the Bible.

He’s right in front of you.

You can feel it.

I’m not up here because I have some kind of employment duty.

This is the end of time, whether in paradise or hell.

I’m not sure what you need today, but Jesus is here, I don’t believe God would tease us with a song like that, bring us to this point in the service, and then just let you leave the same way you came in to worship.

It’s been so long that it’s like a distant scream from friends and relatives to be heard.

“It comes from friends and relatives,” you can say.

It should be thrown away.

However, Jesus appears as the Father, with His arms out wide and the words “Come home” in His voice.

Come home, you who have been traveling.

When you don’t know, serve, and respect Jesus, it’s a heavy burden to bear.

You will grow older as a result of your sin.

When your adversary arrives, it is never to offer you joy.

If you’re here and you recognize that you need Jesus, and you sense the drawing, the drawing of the Holy Spirit, get out of your seat wherever you are on any of the campuses and come down to the front desk as soon as possible, and as soon as you can.

Come on, you can’t be serious.

You must have a personal contact with Jesus when He returns.

Please take a seat.

That’s all there is to it.

They’re on their way.

There’s a teenager in the room.

The couple who has to attend is a husband and his wife.

Simply slipping out of that seat and surrendering will suffice.

I assure you that what you’ve been seeking for, what you’ve been missing, can only be discovered in Him, with just a small nudge from His Spirit.

You must make your way to Jesus this morning.

Everyone, please come to your feet.

Be humble in your actions.

Sing Come, Come, Come!

I’ve been located.

You’re keeping an eye on me through the television?

This is the very presence of the risen Savior, Jesus Christ, which you are experiencing right now.

It’s that simple.

And He brings salvation with Him.

A curse cannot be placed on you, and there is no power over your life that can stand up to the power of the name of Jesus.

I promise you that He will heal your wounds, bring your deliverance, and lift you up.

You may go to Him if you need healing in your body because He is the Lord who heals me.

When we’ve gone there, it’s been great.

Clap your hands and express your gratitude to Him.

Oh, hallelujah!

Oh, hallelujah, praise the Lord.

“Jesus, wash me, cleanse me, and rescue me,” you say.

When you were nailed on the cross, you shed your blood for me.

And now I’m standing here.

I give myself over to you.

Please fill me up. Fill me up until bursting point. Your Holy Spirit has been given to me. Sing it with heartfelt adoration for our King! We’re going to sing it once more for good measure. Give Him all of the honor and glory. Give Him all of your praise and devotion. Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
