What Will Jesus Do When He Comes Again

What will happen when Jesus returns / comes back?

QuestionAnswer It is mentioned several times in the Bible, with approximately 1,500 passages in the Old Testament and one out of every twenty-five lines in the New Testament alluding to the Messiah’s second coming of Christ. God’s statement in Amos 3:7, “Surely the Sovereign LORD does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets,” is reinforced by the huge quantity of material devoted to this significant event. Overall, the coming of Christ ushers in what is referred to in Scripture as the kingdom of God—total God’s reign over all of His creation, including people.

When Jesus returns, He will be prepared to wage battle (Revelation 19:11–16), according to the Bible.

The day of Jesus’ return, however, will be marked by the following events: “His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives to the east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be divided in two from east to west, producing a huge valley, with half of the mountain going north and half moving south” (verse 4).

a day known only to the Lord—with no distinction between day and night.” It will be bright when the evening approaches,” says the Bible (verses 6–7).

  • Jesus will establish His kingdom on earth, and “the Lord will reign as king over the entire globe” (Zechariah 14:9).
  • This is referred to as the “judgment of the sheep and the goats” or the “judgment of the nations” (Matthew 25:31–46), and it represents the culmination of Jesus’ ministry.
  • In this judgment, those who are determined to have committed a crime are condemned and sent to “the everlasting fire reserved for the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41).
  • At this time, there will also be a resurrection of all believers in God, according to the book of Revelation (Revelation 20:4–6).
  • Once Satan has been unleashed, there will be a last fight that will be quickly won by Christ (Revelation 20:7–9).
  • Satan is subsequently doomed for all time to the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11).
  • People who do not believe in Jesus will be resurrected and judged in what is referred to as the great white throne judgment; they will be sent to the lake of fire based on their deeds (Revelation 20:11–15).

These two passages from the book of Malachi express the essence of this truth: “Unquestionably, the day is approaching; it will be hot as a fire.” All of the haughty and all of the evildoers will be stubble, and the day that is coming will set them ablaze.

In contrast, the sun of righteousness will rise in your honor with healing in its rays, because you revere my name.

What will take place when Jesus returns?

How you react to Jesus’ return will be determined by your relationship with Him.

The distinction is made by one’s faith in Christ.

“However, when the Son of Man arrives, how many people will he find on the face of the planet who believe?” (Luke 18:8, New Living Translation) Questions regarding the End Times (Return to: Questions about the End Times) What will will place when Jesus returns / returns to earth?

Introduction

According to the Bible, Jesus will return eventually, and the world as we know it will come to an end at that time. There are many different beliefs and perspectives concerning the end of the world, but the Bible only provides a few specifics about what will happen. The Bible does not provide a clear response to the majority of issues. We are instead encouraged to be spiritually prepared for judgment at any time and to place our faith in God, knowing that He will make things right in the end.

Jesus Will Come Again

A continuous process of redemption is depicted in the Bible as God’s redemptive effort. Throughout the Old Testament, He directs His chosen people in the direction of righteousness and truth. Jesus’ first arrival marked the beginning of the last phase of the process of salvation, which would climax in the events surrounding His Second Coming. A final judgment will be passed on all persons, alive and dead, at the end of time. The devout will be given new spiritual bodies in preparation for eternal life, while the wicked will be sent into hell for their sins.

The kingdom of God will be brought to completion at some point in the future.

You put your faith in God; now put your faith in me.

If this were not the case, I would inform you straight away.’ When everything is finished, I will come and pick you up so that you will always be with me no matter where I happen to be.” (New Living Translation, John 14:1-4) Associated scriptures include: Matthew 23:39, Luke 18:8, John 14:18, 28-29, Acts 1:11, 3:12-21, 1 Corinthians 11:26, Philippians 4:5, Colossians 3:4, 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 2:19, 3:13, 5:23, 2 Timothy 6:14-15, Titus 2:13, Hebrews 9:28, James 5:7-9, 2 Peter 1:16, Revelation 3:11, 22:12, 22:20, Revelation

When Will Jesus Come Again?

Many events that will take place before to the Second Coming of Christ, and which will serve as indicators that the end is close, are described in the Bible. There will be wars, famines, earthquakes, false prophets, persecutions, and an increase in evil, to name just a few things. First and foremost, the Gospel must be preached to all countries. The temple in Jerusalem would be completely demolished. However, the temple was ultimately demolished by the Romans in 70 AD. Many of Jesus’ disciples believed that He would return within their lives, and this anticipation was confirmed by multiple passages in the Bible, including: “In all seriousness, I assure you that this generation will not pass away until all things have taken happened.

  • There has never been a wholly adequate explanation to these discrepancies in the Bible, and the timetable of the Second Coming has been a source of heated discussion among Christians since the beginning of time.
  • Keep your wits about you!
  • You have no way of knowing when that moment will arrive.” (New International Version, Mark 13:32-33) The event, when it occurs, will be rapid and unexpected: As a result, you must be prepared as well, for the Son of Man will arrive at a time when you do not anticipate him to arrive.
  • There have been a plethora of prophecies that the Second Coming of Christ is on the horizon.
  • Verses that are related: Matthew 16:27-28, 24:1-51, 26:24, Mark 9:1, 13:1-36, 14:62, Luke 9:26-27, 21:5-36, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10, 2 Peter 3:8-14, Revelation 1:7.

Be Prepared!

Because no one knows when Jesus will return for the last judgment, we must continually be on the lookout for his return. This concept is made explicitly in Jesus’ Parable of the Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13), and a number of other of His sayings reinforce this point as well. Verses that are related: Matthew 24:42-51, Mark 8:38, 13:33-37, Luke 9:26, 12:35-47, 21:34-36, 2 Timothy 4:8, Hebrews 9:28, 1 Peter 1:17, 13, 4:13, 2 Peter 3:10-14; 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3.

Resurrection

Everyone who has ever lived will be brought back to life in some way in order to stand trial alongside those who are still alive at the end of time: Without a doubt, I say to you, the hour has come, and it is now, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear him will live. Due to the fact that the Father possesses life in himself, He has also provided the Son the ability to posses life in himself, and He has delegated to Him the authority to execute judgment as well, since He is the Son of Man.

John 5:25-29 (New King James Version) Associated verses: Mark 12:18-27, Luke 14:12-14, Acts 4:2, 17:18, 29-32, 23:6; 24:15-16,21, Romans 4:17, 5:17, 6:5, 8, 8:11, 11:15, 1 Corinthians 6:14-15, 15:23, 2 Corinthians 1:9, 4:14, 5:1-10, Philippians 3:10-11, 21, Colossians 1:18, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 2

Final Judgment

We have every chance to repent while we are still alive, or until Jesus returns to take us home to be with Him (change our ways from evil to good). However, at the end of the day, we shall all be judged. Everyone, both the living and the dead who have been resurrected, shall be subjected to God’s judgment. Even individuals who claim Christianity will be evaluated on the basis of the acts they have committed during their lives (Matthew 7:21-23, 2 Corinthians 5:10). All of those who have led good lives will be awarded eternal life, while those who have lived evil lives will be sentenced to an eternity of suffering (Matthew 5:29-30, 25:31-46, Mark 9:43-48).

  • We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the physical body and at home with the Lord rather than in the flesh.
  • Because we must all stand before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may get what is due him for the things he has done while in the body, whether good or bad, while we are alive.
  • The same will be true in the case of the resurrection of the dead.
  • 1 Peter 4:1-6, Jude 1:14-15, Revelation 2:20-23, 20:11-15, 22:12-13, 2 Peter 4:1-6, Jude 1:14-15 More information may be found in this article: What does the Bible teach about salvation?

The New Heaven and Earth

The ultimate effect of the Second Coming will be the fulfillment of all of God’s promises to those who have believed in Him. In the end, Satan will be annihilated, and sin, pain, and death will all be eliminated from the world. And the devil, who had deceived them, was cast into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had previously been cast. They will be tortured day and night for the rest of their lives. (New International Version, Revelation 20:10) “Just as the weeds are plucked out and burnt in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age.’ ” It is the Son of Man who will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that leads to sin and everyone who is wicked in nature.

Then, in the kingdom of their Father, the righteous will shine brightly like the sun.

It appeared to me that the Holy City, or the new Jerusalem, was descending down from heaven from God, prepared like a bride who had been exquisitely clothed for her husband.

Each and every tear will be wiped from their eyes by him.

(New International Version, Revelation 21:1-4) Matthew 8:11, 19:28-30; Mark 14:25; Luke 13:29; John 14:2-3; Romans 8:18-21; 16:20; 1 Corinthians 2:7-10; 13:8-13; 15:20-26; 45-49; Colossians 3:4; Revelation 7:14-17; 11:15; 19:19-20; 22:1-5;

Miscellaneous Topics

Some issues are mentioned in the Bible on a less frequent basis than the topics listed above, but they may give further insight into the events leading up to Jesus’ Second Coming. In part because these themes are not thoroughly described in the Bible, a variety of diverse interpretations have developed, many of which go well beyond any biblical foundations.

The Antichrist

(See also 1 John 2:18, 22, 4:3, and 2 John 1:7) The antichrist is defined as one who lies and deceives, denying that Jesus is the Christ. (See also 1 John 2:18, 22, 4:3, and 2 John 1:7) As at the time of the writing of 1 and 2 John, toward the end of the first century, numerous antichrists were claimed to be already existing in the world, according to traditional interpretation. It is unclear whether there will be another antichrist, but it is possible that his spirit is currently prevalent in the globe.

One or more groups have attempted to transform Bible predictions into propaganda at various points in history by announcing their own interpretations of the identity of the antichrist.

Such accusations, on the other hand, appear to be founded on little more than prejudice and hostility.

The Great Tribulation

The Severe Tribulation (Revelation 7:14) is a period of great suffering and anguish that will come in connection with the Second Coming of Christ. It will last for three years. It is frequently seen as a fulfillment of the prophesy of Daniel 9:24-27, which is found in the Old Testament. Psalms 2:1-12, Matthew 24:15-51, Mark 13:14-25, Revelation 9:1-11, 16:13-16 are examples of related scriptures.

The Millennium

Before the last judgment, the Millennium (Revelation 20:1-10) is depicted as a thousand-year era during which Satan is restrained and the resurrected believers reign with Christ before the end of the world. The Bible makes no other explicit reference of the millennium other than this one. Among Christians, there is a considerable deal of disagreement concerning the nature of the millennium, and ideas about it may be divided into numerous categories:

  • Those who believe in amillennialism see the millennium as a metaphor of our current period, in which the Church continues Christ’s ministry and the bound of Satan has already been completed by Jesus in the past. It holds that the millennium will be a future era during which the gospel message will abolish evil from the globe and Christ will rule spiritually for a thousand years before the Second Coming. Those who believe in premillennialism believe that the millennium will be a thousand-year era between the Second Coming and the last judgment. There are two subtypes of premillennialism that may be distinguished:
  • Premillennialism, as practiced historically, sees the millennium as the next step in the expansion of God’s reign, after the current era of the Church and preceding the appearance of the new heavens and earth. Dispensationalism considers the millennium to be a time period during which the promises made to the people of Israel in the Old Testament would be fulfilled. According to this point of view:
  • Israel’s establishment as a sovereign state in 1948 is evidence that the Second Coming of Christ is coming. Christian believers will be rescued before the Great Tribulation begins (see below), allowing them to avoid the wrath of God during that time of misery

The Rapture

The Rapture (as described in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17) is the departure of faithfulChristians (the Church) to meet the Lord in the air, according to the Bible. In terms of when the Rapture will take place, there are three theories:

  • Before the start of the Tribulation, the rapture occurs when John ascends to heaven (Revelation 4:1-2)
  • During the Tribulation, the rapture occurs when the two prophets ascend to heaven (Revelation 11:11-12)
  • After the Tribulation, the rapture occurs when the two prophets ascend to heaven (Revelation 20:11-12)
  • And after the Tribulation, the rapture occurs when the two prophets ascend to heaven (Revelation 21:11-12). The rapture will take place at the conclusion of the seven bowls (Revelation 16:17-21).

The Second Coming in Popular Culture

In recent years, the second coming of Jesus, the Rapture, and other Bible prophesies have produced a large business dedicated to these topics. The Late Great Planet Earth, written by Hal Lindsey in 1970, as well as the Left Behindseries by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, have been at the vanguard of this movement. Other resources include websites, television evangelists, lecture series, movies, and videos, among other things. In certain cases, Bible prophesies are embellished with inventive and colorful embellishments that are mixed with modern political and social views.

The majority of these works go well beyond what has been revealed in the Bible and should be regarded as fiction rather than Bible prophecy, as is appropriate. The Bible has something to say regarding the Rapture, which you can read about here.

Theology Thursday: He Will Come Again to Judge

In the Apostles’ Creed, it says, “He will come again to judge the living and the dead.” Jesus is on his way back to earth. His “second coming” is also referred to as such. The “first coming” of Jesus occurred when he took on the form of a human person, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins. The second coming is the time when Jesus comes to judge all of humanity — both the living and the dead. All those who will be alive when he returns are considered to be among the living.

Every person who has died will be resurrected from the dead and judged, according to Jesus’ words (John 5:26-29).

The Good News

Christian believers will benefit from this decision. Our understanding of Jesus’ final destination comes from Revelation chapters 21 and 22, where he will take Christians to the New Jerusalem, where they will live eternally in the presence of God and where all sin, disease and sorrow will be eradicated. When Christians are living through terrible times, the return of Christ provides them reason to be hopeful. When we are going through hardships, Peter writes that we should be joyful because Jesus Christ will be revealed when he comes back.

The Bad News

The return of Jesus as judge, on the other hand, is bad news for those who are not Christians. If I do not believe in Christ, then I have not had my sins forgiven, and I will be held accountable for my misdeeds in the future. This signifies that I’m in serious danger right now. It is the cost for sin to be separated from God, and because God is everlasting, this separation will last forever. If I have not been forgiven of my sins via the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, then the return of Christ is the worst news imaginable, for my sins will lead me to be driven out of God’s presence for all eternity.

God has Provided the Solution for Everyone

However, God has supplied a remedy for my sin issue, which is found in the first half of the same portion of the Apostles’ Creed, where it states that Jesus Christ “was crucified” before rising from the dead on the third day as a result of his death. Jesus took the punishment that we deserved for our misdeeds and paid it for us. Whoever turns from sin and places their confidence in Jesus Christ as their sin-bearer receives forgiveness of sins and is able to dwell in God’s presence is said to be in God’s presence.

Finally, at the conclusion of the book of Revelation, the last words are a prayer: “Amen.

He is pleading with Jesus to return and “judge the living and the dead,” as he put it.

Jesus’ return – the Second Coming

According to Christian belief, Jesus Christ will return at some point in the future, and when this occurs, everyone will be informed of it. His reappearance is referred to as the Second Coming. It will be a remarkable and unparalleled event in history, in stark contrast to his first appearance in Bethlehem as a defenseless infant. There are hints in the Bible about what it could be like, but there is no indication as to when it will occur. In the days leading up to his crucifixion in Jerusalem 2,000 years ago, Jesus talked of his return to the earth.

  1. ‘ This same Jesus who has been taken from you into heaven will return in the exact same way that you have witnessed him ascend into heaven.’ The final hours of Jesus’ earthly life also provide a hint concerning the Second Coming.
  2. During that time period, he was seen by more than 500 individuals.
  3. The ascension of Jesus is the name given to this occurrence.
  4. According to the book of Acts, they assured the disciples that ‘this same Jesus who has been taken from you into heaven would come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven’ would return in the same manner.
  5. Continue reading below.
  6. Jesus had warned his disciples that no one, other than God, could predict the exact moment of his return, but he also instructed them to make certain that they were always prepared in case it did.
  7. Christian scholars have examined passages of the Bible that talk about the future during the centuries that have followed to attempt to determine the conditions under which Jesus would return.

It is a description of a complicated, lyrical vision that John has received.

It talks not only of the present, but also of the future – including a time when the existing heavens and earth will be destroyed and replaced by a new heaven and a new earth – as well as of the present and past.

Because the old order of things has gone away, there will be no more death, sorrow, weeping, or suffering.

Others believe that all believers, even those who have died, will be immediately evacuated from the world and will join God in heaven, where they will be joined by all other Christians.

According to some interpretations, the allusion to a period of 1,000 years refers to a period of just and peaceful world leadership by the Christian church, which will be followed by a horrific apocalypse involving evil.

There is a third school of thought that holds that the symbolic events described in Revelation do not foreshadow concrete occurrences.

There are several variants on these views, but the Bible instructs Christians not to get obsessed with these events and their timing, but rather to take comfort in the confidence that Jesus will return to make all things new.

‘He will wipe away every tear from their eyes,’ says the Bible, which is virtually its final words. Because the old order of things has gone away, there will be no more death, sorrow, weeping, or suffering.

9 Facts About Jesus’ Second Coming

On June 2, 1995, Captain Scott O’Grady was shot down over Bosnia and Herzegovina. As soon as he pressed the ejection lever, he was parachuted into hostile territory. He hid beneath bushes for six days, ate bugs, and drank rainwater to survive. He smeared dirt on his face in order to blend into the background better. Occasionally, opposing forces came within a few millimeters of his hiding position, but they were never able to locate him. Not knowing it at the time, O’Grady was unaware that extensive measures were being taken to save his life from the moment his agony began.

  1. Do they give a damn?
  2. They had 40 planes flying around looking for him.
  3. They were receiving assistance from other countries.
  4. To be honest, we’re in O’Grady’s shoes right now, whether we like it or not.
  5. You and I are both residing in hostile territory.
  6. You don’t believe it, do you?
  7. He’s on his way.
  8. Certain doubts regarding Christ’s return continue to be raised by Christians who are both curious and anxious.
  9. As a result, I’ll react to nine of the more often asked questions.

1. What is the primary reason Jesus is coming the second time?

Just before He departed this planet, Jesus told His followers, “There are many rooms in my Father’s home,” and that “I am going there to make a place for you” (John 14:2). This is the idiom that the ancient Hebrews used to describe a marriage ceremony. Prior to claiming his wife, it was traditional for the man to construct a honeymoon chamber at his father’s house, according to Biblical tradition. “There are numerous honeymoon chambers in my Father’s home,” Jesus remarked to His followers, which is essentially true.

Without a doubt, this is not the case!

In order to be with his wife, a bridegroom travels long distances to pick her up from her hotel.

Nothing could be a more compelling case for His second coming than this!

2. Will Jesus come back alone?

No. “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in celestial splendor,” Jesus declared (Matthew 25:31). Is it possible for you to guess how many angels there are? Angels, according to the apostle John, number in the thousands and ten thousand times ten thousand, according to the apostle Paul (Revelation 5:11; Daniel 7:10).

There are billions of angels in heaven, according to this estimate, which is not based on a mathematical calculation. And they will all be present with Jesus when He comes back!

3. Will there be people alive on the earth when Jesus comes?

Absolutely! “At that time, the sign of the Son of Man will emerge in the sky, and all the nations of the world will weep,” Jesus said. As a result, John the revelator declared: “Look, he is approaching with clouds, and every sight will behold him” (Matthew 24:30; Revelation 1:7).

4. What will happen to the wicked when Jesus comes?

When Jesus arose from the dead, an angel moved the stone away from his tomb. According to the Bible, the brilliance of this one angel caused 100 of Rome’s fiercest warriors to fall to the ground in amazement, as if they were dead (Matthew 28:2–4). Consider the billions of angels that will accompany Jesus on his return! He who is evil will be annihilated by the “glory of his coming,” according to the apostle Paul (2 Thessalonians 2:8).

5. What will happen to the dead people at the second coming of Jesus?

“A time is coming,” Jesus said, “when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out—those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned.” “Those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned” (John 5:28, 29). There will be two resurrections as a result. “Blessed and holy are those who have taken part in the first resurrection,” according to the book of Revelation. There’s no doubt about it: that’s the resurrection of people “who have done good.” And “the remainder of the dead did not come to life until the thousand-year period had come to a close.” People who have done wrong will not be revived until the conclusion of the 1000-year period, according to this (Revelation 20:6, 5).

6. What will happen to those “ who have done good ” when Jesus comes?

“We shall all be altered,” the apostle Paul said in reference to that particular day. “For the perishable must be clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality,” he stated (1 Corinthians 15:51, 53). Every human being who has ever lived is condemned to death in this lifetime. However, when Jesus returns, He will grant His followers immortality, ensuring that they will never die! Paul also stated that during Christ’s return, He will “change our lowly bodies so that they will be like his magnificent body,” according to another passage (Philippians 3:21).

7. What happens after they’ve been changed?

According to the apostle Paul, they will be “caught up together. in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.” And thus it shall be with the Lord for all eternity” (1 Thessalonians 4:17). As He left to create a home for them, Jesus promised His followers that He would “come back and take you to be with me” so that they might “be where I am” (John 14:3). What happened to Jesus today? As our High Priest in the presence of the Father (Hebrews 8:1–5). And He’ll take us to be with Him in those heavenly dwelling quarters that He’s been working on for so long.

8. Can we know anything about the time of Jesus’ return?

Yes and No. Jesus said, “ No one knows about that day or hour ” (Matthew 24:36). (Matthew 24:36).

I’ve heard about people who’ve tried to pinpoint the time of Christ’s return, but so far every one of them has failed. Nevertheless, Jesus did say we can know when His return is near : “ When you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door ” (verse 33). (verse 33).

9. How can I prepare for the second coming of Jesus?

When Jesus returns, He will remark to a particular group of individuals, “I had no idea who you were.” “Get away from me, you nefarious individuals!” (See Matthew 7:23.) As a result, knowing Jesus as a friend is essential to being prepared for His return. And in order to get to know Him then, we have to get to know Him right now first. We must study about Him in His Word and communicate with Him in prayer on a daily basis. To be forgiven of our sins, we must confess them to God and beg Him to pardon us.

The following are some of the ways we can get ready right now to meet Jesus when He returns!

Second Coming of Jesus Christ

The second coming is on the horizon. It is true that Jesus told His disciples that He will return one more time. “Do not let your heart be worried,” the Bible states in John 14:1-3. There are many mansions in My Father’s home; if this were not the case, I would have informed you. I’m going to go set up a space for you. Moreover, if I depart to make a place for you, I will return to take you into Myself, so that where I am, you may be as well.”

When is Jesus coming back?

Jesus will return in a short period of time. No one, however, is certain of the precise hour when Jesus will appear again. The Bible says in Mark 13:32, “But no one knows when day or hour it will be; not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father knows.” It’s interesting to note that the disciples asked Jesus the same question right before He ascended to the Father’s presence. At that point, Jesus informed them that it was not their responsibility to know the times or seasons that were under the jurisdiction of the Father.

As a result, what does this mean for you and me is unclear.

Keep an eye on Jesus and keep your attention on him because the devil is attempting to divert mankind’s attention away from the indications and the nearness of Jesus’ return.

Why is Jesus taking so long to come back?

When Jesus returns, He will do it with patience, because He wants to give humanity the greatest amount of time possible to select and follow Him. Jesus desires that as many people as possible repent and follow Him to the heavenly kingdom. According to 2 Peter 3:8-9, “However, dear, do not forget this one thing: that with the Lord, one day is equal to a thousand years, and a thousand years are equal to one day.” When it comes to His promise, the Lord is not slack as some believe, but is patient with us, not wanting any to perish but wanting everyone to come to repentance.” Additional materials can be found at: Topics related to the Bible Questions about the Bible Signs of the Second Coming of Jesus What is the meaning of the rapture?

How Will the Second Coming Be Different?

“At that time, the sign of the Son of Man will emerge in the sky, and all of the nations of the world will weep.” (Matthew 24:15) In tremendous might and great splendor, they will witness Jesus Christ as He rides upon the clouds of the sky” (Matthew 24:30). This passage speaks of Christ’s physical return to the world, as described in the Bible. Because 1) they understand that Christ is returning in judgment, and 2) they comprehend that they are not prepared for his return, the people of the earth will weep when they see Christ’s return.

  • Every eye will behold him as he descends from the heavens, even those who wounded him, and all nations will weep for him.” “Behold, he is coming with the clouds,” says the prophet (Revelation 1:7ESV).
  • Perhaps the most effective method to comprehend that statement is to examine the circumstances surrounding the first and second comings of Christ.
  • Jesus humbled himself by being born in a barn in Bethlehem on the day of his first arrival.

When Is Jesus Coming Back? Is it Soon?

In one popular argument to Christianity, non-Christians assert that because Christians think Jesus is returning soon and that He has not returned, it follows that He will not return at all. Today, many people associate the phrase “coming soon” with the act of driving through the drive-thru at their favorite fast-food restaurant. They thus believe that Jesus will return in a short period of time when asked the question “Is Jesus coming back soon?” When Jesus talked of His return, He used the word “soon” rather than the word “immediately,” implying that He would return in the near future.

“Come, Lord Jesus,” the choir sings.

When Is the ‘Soon’ for Jesus’ Return

In one popular argument to Christianity, non-Christians assert that because Christians think Jesus is returning soon and that He has not returned, it follows that Jesus will not return at all. Many people today associate the phrase “coming soon” with the act of driving through the drive-thru at their preferred fast-food restaurant. They thus believe that Jesus will return in a short period of time when asked the question “Is Jesus returning soon?” Rather of saying “immediately,” Jesus talked in terms of “soon,” implying that He would return in a matter of time.

“Amen,” John concludes with a bow.

The Return of the Lord Jesus Is Imminent

This means that the Lord Jesus’ return is not only impending, as we must comprehend, but it is also immediate in the sense that it might occur at any time. The apostles even speculated that the Lord Jesus’ return would occur within their lifetime, referring to the Lord Jesus’ return as occurring in the end days (1 Corinthians 10:11; 1 Peter 1:20; Hebrews 1:2), and urging the people of God to be prepared and on the lookout for signs and wonders. Because Jesus employed the language of being “ready,” He means for the people of God to think that He is about to return at any moment (Luke 12:40; 21:34-36;Mark 13:33).

  • Jesus desires that every generation live in the consciousness that He may visit unexpectedly and that all individuals will be required to give an account of how they will locate them when He does.
  • In Acts 1:7, Jesus reiterates the teachings of Matthew 24:36, in which he tells the disciples, “It is not for you to know the times or seasons which the Father has determined by his own power.” Jesus said this when the disciples inquired as to whether or not He intended to rebuild Israel.
  • Anyone who believes in Christ is able to predict when He will return, because Scripture is quiet on the specific day and time of His return.
  • Christians, on the other hand, are instructed to “.remain alert, for you do not know on when day your Lord will come” (Matthew 24:42).
  • According to the teachings of Matthew 24:36-44, no one can predict the day or time of the Lord Jesus’ second coming.
  • Despite the fact that several dates have been offered, all of them have been and will continue to be incorrect.
  • It is reasonable to conclude from Matthew 24:36 and Acts 1:7 that God does not wish for Christians to calculate the precise day or hour of Christ’s return, and that anybody who attempts to do so is deceived by the Scriptures.

What is essential is that the people of God live their lives in light of the Lord Jesus’ approaching return to earth (2 Timothy 4:8).

The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus

The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus is referenced 1,500 times in the Old Testament, and one out of every twenty-five verses in the New Testament makes reference to the Lord Jesus’ Second Coming, which is a significant number. When it states in Amos 3:7, “For the Lord God does nothing but reveal his secret to his servants the prophets,” this passage draws attention to this topic. What Amos says is important because it helps Christians comprehend that the return of Christ heralds the establishment of God’s Kingdom, which is defined as God’s total authority over all of His creation.

  • The book of Revelation 19:11-16 describes how the Lord will be prepared for battle, and how the nations will gather to fight against the city of Jerusalem.
  • Furthermore, this will be the day that the Bible predicts in Revelation 19:6-7, when the enemies of God, including the Antichrist and the false prophet, will be completely vanquished (Revelation 19:20).
  • Jesus will judge those who are living at the time of His Second Coming as part of the process of establishing His Kingdom.
  • A thousand years of peace will be enjoyed by those who survive this judgment as a result of their trust in Jesus Christ.
  • (Matthew 25:41).
  • In addition, there will be a resurrection of all Christians (Revelation 20:4-6).
  • At the conclusion of the thousand-year period, Satan will be freed, and a final fight will take place, which will be conquered by the Lord Jesus Christ on the spot (Revelation 20:7-9).
  • Then there will be a second resurrection, followed by another judgment.

Two Different Eternities

There are two eternal fates, one with the Lord Jesus and one without Him, as a result of the Lord Jesus’ return being a reality (Malachi 4:1-2). When the Lord Jesus returns, evil will be destroyed, the planet will be restored, and the Lord will triumph! If you believe in the first coming of the Lord Jesus, your response to his return will reveal whether or not you believe in the second coming of the Lord Jesus. Christian believers have a great hope in that they will not only be admitted to heaven, but that they will also be with the Lord Jesus for all of eternity in heaven.

Your response, dear reader, to the topic “Is Jesus Coming Back Soon?” is critical because it expresses your understanding of the Lord Jesus’ first coming as well as your understanding of His finished and adequate work.

We Are Not Promised Tomorrow

We cannot guarantee tomorrow, and the Lord knows not just the number of hairs on your head or the content of your thoughts at any one time, but also the length of all of your days. God longs for your repentance, for you to turn back to Him, and for you to put your confidence in Christ – because Jesus is mighty to save by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone — and that is why He sent His Son to die for you. You must not cower in fear, but instead must stand firm on the Lord Jesus and proclaim the glory of Christ to everyone.

Will Jesus Really Return to Earth?

As Christians, we gladly proclaim that Jesus Christ will, in fact, return to the world again and again. It’s critical for us to remember that Jesus Himself stated that He will return to the world at some point. His disciples gathered on the Mount of Olives when He spoke to them, and He promised them that He would come in might and great splendor. According to the angels, Jesus Christ would return. As mentioned in Acts Chapter 1, when Jesus ascends to His Father, angels appear and proclaim, “He will return in the same manner that He has gone.” When you look at church history, one of the intriguing things you will see is that, although though various Christians throughout church history have had diverse viewpoints on the end of time, they have always agreed on some fundamental truths concerning the end of the world.

And one of them was the belief that Jesus Christ will return to the planet.

It is the belief that Jesus Christ will physically return to the planet.

And, finally, that Jesus Christ will bring about a restoration and a fresh beginning in the world.

All of these considerations are critical.

It’s even a part of the Apostles’ Creed, which was written in the fourth century.

He will then return to judge both the living and the dead once His time on earth is through.

Is it possible that Jesus will return?

Not unwillingly because we believe, “Oh, He’s going to return,” but joyously, we as Christians proclaim this truth.
