The Jesus Bible Review
- I was recently given the opportunity to evaluate The Jesus Bible in exchange for my honest evaluation, which I gladly accepted. For the purpose of this review, I was provided with a copy of The Jesus Bible. All of my views and opinions are entirely my own.
The Jesus Bible is available in both the ESV and the NIV translations. I selected the ESV since it is my preferred version over the NIV. It arrived in a beautiful packaging that opens completely flat. When I first took The Jesus Bible out of the package, I was taken aback by how large it was. This is not a little Bible that can be tucked into your purse. This is a study Bible, as the name implies. Despite the fact that I prefer large study Bibles, this one may be excessively huge if you are looking for a small Bible.
The binding on mine is made of LeathersoftTM, which has the feel of actual leather, and I really appreciate the how it feels in my hands.
What is The Jesus Bible?
The basic idea of The Jesus Bible is that Jesus’ tale does not begin on Christmas; rather, the entire Bible is a narrative of Jesus’ life! From Genesis to Revelation, it all comes together to create the greatest tale the world has ever known: the story of God. To this aim, there are study notes scattered throughout the Bible that assist explain the context, traditions, and other details, as well as weave the information together to help you see how it all points to Christ. Study notes are also available online.
There are various essays from well-known authors such as Randy Alcorn, Max Lucado, John Piper, Ravi Zacharias, and Louie Giglio included in this collection.
The rest of the Bible’s notes are written by a group of people, and I find them to be basic yet intriguing, demonstrating a connection between different texts or views.
The Jesus Bible layout
It is written in a single column, with plenty of space on the sides for writing notes or journaling on the subject matter. It is a black text Bible, and the words of Christ are not highlighted in red. When you stop and think about it, it makes sense. Isn’t it true that all of Scripture was given to us by inspiration? All of the words are the words of Jesus Christ.
Beginning with the creation of the Word, and with God from the beginning of time, the Word became God. 1 John 1:3–4 This Bible is a great read for me right now. It’s important to me to start my day with Bible reading and prayer, and I’ve been enjoying utilizing this one lately.
Things I like
The proportions. My Bible study used to be on a small scale, but I’m really loving the larger study format now! I suppose I’ve found my new addiction! The discussion and annotations that are always pointing to Christ are a blessing. It certainly does point out how Jesus is at the center of the entire Bible. The LeathersoftTM material is used for the cover. At first, I believed it was made of leather. It has a very pleasant feel about it.
Things I don’t like
I wish there were more cover design options available for the ESV version of the book. While there are more alternatives available for the NIV translation, the ESV version just has three possibilities. Although this pastel painting is lovely, I would prefer this Bible in a dark brown or burgundy hue. I suppose all of the comments throughout the film may be bothersome, however I personally find it enjoyable. And, as I previously indicated, it is a bit heavy to carry around with you. But it’s the sheer magnitude of the thing that I find appealing.

Zondervan The Jesus Bible NIV Bible Review – Rating: 8.7

- It is written extremely well and is simple to use, and it demonstrates throughout Scripture how Jesus might be understood as a central figure in the grand drama of man’s restoration back to God.
- For people with poor vision, the Scripture text is a little small at 7 point, which may be difficult to see for those with good eyesight.
- In the interest of full honesty, I would like to state that I was not compelled or requested by Zondervan to write a good review.
- As required by the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255 “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising,” I am revealing this information.
- Although it has notes based on the bulk of the passages throughout the Bible, it is not what I would call a traditional Study Bible.
- As a result, this Bible is organized such that you may think of the Bible as a single tale that is told in six discrete “acts.” Beginnings, Revolt, People, Savior, Church, and Forever are some of the acts featured in this collection.
- Each book of the Bible includes a well-written introduction, and more than 300 articles and almost 700 sidebars are included to explain how Jesus is depicted throughout Scripture in this Bible.
- Because it is written in the New International Version (NIV), it is an excellent resource for those who prefer the NIV and do not want a complete commentary study Bible, but who wish to examine how Jesus appears throughout the Bible.
- I was provided with a complimentary copy of this Bible by the publisher in return for an honest evaluation.
- They are selling it for $22.49, although the suggested retail price from the publisher is $44.99.

Post Scripture Pages
- Weights and measures are listed in a table. 1 page, which is a very normal table in most Study Bibles
- NIV Concordance
- And a few other things. The NIV Concordance is 27 pages long. Nothing really noteworthy, and it is probably one of the shortest concordances I have come across. It would be appropriate for use with a very rudimentary concordance
Typeface and Print:
- Smyth Sewn, which significantly increases the durability of the Study Bible

- Scriptures appear to be written in a 7 point font, which is on the lower side of the typefaces used in most Bibles today. For individuals who have difficulty reading small fonts, this may make it appear a little too small. Generally, the font used in the articles is around a 9 point font, which makes it rather simple to read
- I’ve noticed some reviews where people have complained that there isn’t a lot of margin space in this Bible, but I’m not sure what they are referring to. Yes, there are pages with no margins for writing (for example, pages with complete articles or pages with sidebar articles – see the sidebar article photo above for an example), but there are many pages with a margin of more than 2 inches for writing on them. The amount of space is greater than some of the journaling or note-taking Bibles I’ve seen

If a page has an article or a sidebar item, the margin is only around 5/8′′ wide.” data-image-caption=data-image-caption= “Typical margin of more than 2 inches is displayed. - When it comes to line-matching (printed lines on one side of the page vs printed lines on another side of the page), the results aren’t very good. As previously said, however, because of the paper’s relative opaqueness, it is bearable, and unless you are really sensitive to line matching and show-through, you will not be disturbed by it too much. As you can see in the majority of the photographs included in this post, there is some show-through that occurs. It’s very typical of what you’ll see in a Bible in this price range, as the cheaper and thinner (less opaque) paper is one of the ways publishers can keep expenses down.
Here is a list of the overall scores that I would give to this specific bible on a scale from 1 to 10. Keep in mind that while I am assigning these scores, I am doing it on the basis of the physical makeup, format, extra-biblical material, and worth of the bible, not the Word of God itself, since that would be completely out of the question. The quality of a hardcover book is always greater than the quality of a well-sewn and bound leather book, simply because of the long-term longevity of the book.
- Having said that, the quality is acceptable for a hardback book, and it is rather sturdy due to the fact that it is Smyth stitched.
- The cloth hardcover feels great in the hand and is a good size for the book.
- 8/9 – Based on the fact that this is a hardback bible, the value of this Study Bible is rather good – especially when you consider the fair price for what you receive.
- Innovator’s Score: 8.5– I appreciate the concept of showing Jesus throughout The Jesus Bible so that you can understand how He is depicted throughout the entire Bible tale in perspective.
This is quite well done. The articles are excellent and provide excellent support for this design approach. Other/Wildcard:n/a– There aren’t any true wildcards in this Bible to change the overall rating points for it.
Overall Rating: 8.7 out of 10

The Jesus Bible Reveals That “There Is No B.C.”
The 14th of November, 2016— The birth of Jesus at Bethlehem is not the beginning of the tale of Jesus, nor is it the end of the story of Jesus. The entire Bible points to him as the author of the book of Genesis. The Jesus Bible, which includes 66 book introductions, more than 1,000 articles, and seven compelling essays by bestselling authors Louie Giglio, Max Lucado, John Piper, Ravi Zacharias, and Randy Alcorn, will assist readers in following the thread of Jesus from beginning to end of the book of Matthew.
The news was first announced at the church where he serves as pastor, Passion City Church in Atlanta, Georgia.
From Genesis to Exodus, through Romans, Acts, the prophets, Psalms, and the gospels, the entire Bible is devoted to the person and work of Jesus.” According to Giglio, “We were given the chance to develop a resource that I believe will affect future generations and make Scripture come alive so that Jesus is standing on every single page, so that as you go through Scripture, you comprehend Jesus throughout Scripture.” The Jesus Bible, which will be offered in three elegantly designed covers starting on January 3, will be available in three colors: gray linen cloth over board, robin’s egg blue LeathersoftTM, and brown LeathersoftTM.
The Jesus Bible is also available in an electronic version (eBook). Visit if you’d like to see a selection of all of Genesis and Matthew. 14NOV2016

Grand Rapids, Mich., Nov. 14, 2016 — Grand Rapids, Mich., Nov. 14, 2016 — The birth of Jesus at Bethlehem is not the beginning of the tale of Jesus, nor is it the end of the story of Jesus. Initially announced at the church he pastors, Passion City Church in Atlanta, Georgia, Giglio shared that “The Jesus Biblehelps people understand from the very first page that the Bible is one story in 66 books, and it is all about one person.” Giglio also served as general editor of the project, which he described as follows: ” From Genesis to Exodus, through Romans, Acts, the prophets, Psalms, and the gospels, the entire Bible is devoted to the person and work of Jesus.” According to Giglio, “We were given the chance to develop a resource that I believe will affect future generations and make Scripture come alive so that Jesus is standing on every single page, so that as you go through Scripture, you comprehend Jesus throughout Scripture.” A gray linen cloth over board cover, a robin’s egg blue LeathersoftTM cover, and a brown LeathersoftTM cover are among the three elegantly designed options for the Jesus Bible, which will be available for purchase on January 3.
