How To Believe In Jesus

What Do I Do If I’ve Tried to Believe In Jesus but Can’t?

A number of allusions to fish and the significance of fish in the Christian religion can be found throughout the Bible. It appears in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John’s gospels as well as in other places in the Bible as a symbol of Christianity. Apparently, this serves to highlight the fact that the ichthys symbol has a significant meaning inside the Christian faith, and has always had a significant importance within the beliefs of followers as well. Every one of these passages from Scripture demonstrates how Jesus has utilized the Christian fish to entice his disciples and to demonstrate the power of himself and God to those who have come to him.

“We only have five loaves and two fish here,” they explained to Jesus.

Afterwards, He instructed the throngs of people to take a seat on the lawn.

As a result, they all ate and were satisfied, and they collected twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained after they had finished their meals.

But He responded by saying to them, “You give them something to eat.'” Afterwards, they asked Him, “Do you want us to go out and buy two hundred denarii’s worth of bread so that we can give them something to eat?” They asked Him, “How many loaves do you have?” He replied, “How many do you have?” “Take a look.” And when they discovered the truth, they exclaimed, “Five and two fish!” After that, He instructed them to gather everyone together on the green grass in small groups.

  1. In order to do so, they sat down in groups of hundreds or even dozens.
  2. Then everyone had plenty to eat to satisfy their appetites.
  3. “We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we go out and get food for all of these folks,” they explained.
  4. His disciples were then instructed to sit in groups of fifty, as He had instructed them.
  5. Afterwards, He took the five loaves and two fish from the table and, lifting his eyes to the heavens, He blessed them and broke them, before distributing them among the crowds.
  6. Luke 9:13-17 is a biblical passage.
  7. There was a lot of grass in this location now.
  8. And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He divided them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they desired.
  9. John 6:9-12 is a biblical passage.

Jesus said in Matthew 4:19, “I am the bread of life.” “Once more, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that has been put into the sea and has caught a variety of fish.” Matthew 13:47 is a verse from the Bible that says, “It is written, “It is said, “It is written, “It is written, “It is written, “It is written, “It is written, “It is written, “It is written, “It is written, “It is written, “It is written, “It is written, “It is written, “It is written, “It is written, “It They then noticed a fire of coals with fish and bread on the ground as soon as they reached the shoreline.

  1. “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught,” Jesus urged to the disciples.
  2. Despite the high number of fish, the net remained intact.
  3. None of the disciples, knowing full well that it was the Lord on the other side, ventured to inquire, “Who are You?” Then Jesus arrived and took the bread and gave it to them, as well as the fish, as they had requested.
  4. 9-14 in John 21:9-14 Getting a deeper understanding of the fish symbol and how it links to the Christian religion may help us gain a better understanding of the ancient part of faith as well as the many ways in which followers have used it for generations.

What does it mean to believe in Jesus?

Answering the question “Do you believe in Jesus?” appears to be an odd inquiry. It sounds a lot like the inquiry “Do you believe in Santa Claus?” but it’s not. or “Do you believe in aliens?” But the question “Do you believe in Jesus?” is asking significantly more than “Do you think that Jesus Christ existed/exists?” The genuine meaning of the question is, “Do you think that Jesus Christ is who He claims to be in the Bible, and do you place your faith in Him as your personal Savior?” So, do you profess faith in Jesus?

  • Consider whether you think that Jesus died on the cross to pay the punishment for your sins (1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21), for which you deserve eternal separation from God (Romans 6:23): Do you believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sins?
  • Do you believe these things?
  • Biblical faith/belief entails much more than simply believing certain things to be true in specific circumstances.
  • A chair serves as an excellent illustration.
  • This is a common misconception.
  • The chair is occupied by a person of biblical faith.
  • Do you believe that Jesus is your Lord and Savior?

You may be relying on His resurrection as a promise that you will be resurrected to eternal life after death, but you may not realize it.

Or are you dependent on other things in addition to the chair to keep you from falling to the ground?

If you “believe in Jesus” in the biblical sense, you are a Christian.

Believe!

Put your faith in Him for your salvation.

If you would like to convey your newfound faith to God orally, the following is an example of what you could say: “I am well aware that I have sinned against you.

I am well aware that if my sin is not forgiven, it will keep me separated from you for all of eternity.

In order for me to be brought into a proper relationship with you, I am relying only on His sacrifice.

Thank you so much for saving my life.

What Do Americans Believe About Jesus? 5 Popular Beliefs

Jesus Christ remains a central figure and perennial person of interest in the American religious landscape—especially in the days leading up to Easter. And the year 2015 is no different. To a record-breaking audience of 3.7 million viewers on Sunday, March 29, the National Geographic Channel premiered its adaptation of Bill O’Reilly’s bookKilling Jesus. It was the channel’s most watched premiere in its history. The Finding Jesus miniseries on CNN has likewise maintained a high level of popularity.

  • What, on the other hand, do Americans believe about Jesus?
  • According to recent Barna Group research, the following are five popular American perceptions of Jesus: 1.
  • The Vast Majority of Americans Believe Jesus Was a Real Person A cameo appearance by Jesus Christ has appeared in hundreds of pop culture productions, ranging from The Da Vinci Code toSouth Park.
  • More than nine out of ten Americans believe that Jesus Christ was a genuine person who lived on the earth (92 percent ).
  • 2.
  • While the historicity of Jesus is not in question for most Americans, people are becoming increasingly skeptical about Jesus’ divinity.
  • One in every six people still does not believe that Jesus was divine, according to the poll (18 percent ).

Approximately one-third of young individuals (35 percent) believe that Jesus was only a religious or spiritual leader, with the remaining 17 percent unsure of his identity.

3.

Americans are divided on whether Jesus committed sins during his earthly existence, which may be a reflection of their skepticism regarding Jesus’ divinity.

Just less than half disagree, either strongly or somewhat, that Jesus committed sins while on earth (46 percent ), and 2 percent aren’t sure.

Sixty-six percent of Millennials consider this to be true.

4.

A personal commitment to Jesus, which is commonly referred to as the “first step” in becoming a Christian, is a step that more than six in ten Americans claim to have done, and that commitment is still essential in their lives today, according to the Pew Research Center.

In terms of personal commitment to Jesus, women are more likely than men to have done so, according to the data (68 percent compared to 56 percent , respectively).

A person’s likelihood of committing their lives to Jesus decreases as their income increases: Making more than $100K per year decreases the likelihood of making such a commitment significantly (by 53 percent) compared to those earning between $50,000 and $100,000 (63 percent) and those earning less than $50,000 (53 percent).

Fewer than half of Millennials (46 percent) believe they have made such a commitment, compared to six in ten Generation Xers (59 percent), two-thirds of Baby Boomers (65 percent), and seven in ten Seniors (70 percent) (71 percent ).

People are torn between believing in “Jesus” and believing in “good deeds” as the only way to get to Heaven.

In a survey in which participants were given a choice between several different beliefs about the afterlife, nearly two-thirds of those who have made a personal commitment to Jesus stated that they believe that they will go to heaven after death because they have confessed their sins and accepted Jesus Christ as their savior.

  1. About one in seven admit they don’t know what will happen after they die (15 percent ).
  2. In general, roughly two out of every five Americans have confessed their sinfulness and professed faith in Christ (a group known as “born again Christians,” according to Barna Research).
  3. Only 56 percent of Millennials who have made a personal commitment to Jesus believe they will go to heaven as a result of confessing their sins and accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior, according to a recent survey.
  4. Many adults, on the other hand, believe that they will be admitted to heaven as a result of their good deeds.
  5. Most of those who fall into this category believe that they will go to heaven because they have attempted to obey the Ten Commandments (5 percent), because they are fundamentally good people (8 percent), or because God loves all people and will not allow them to perish (7 percent ).
  6. For example, Jesus has a built-in audience.
  7. This impressive number begs the question of how well this commitment is expressed.

“These tendons include institutional, cultural, and familial tendons.” The question of whether Millennials will become more serious about church and faith as they grow older has been debated extensively, but the reality is that younger Americans are not as connected to Christ as older generations are.

Do You Really Believe in Jesus?

Have you ever professed a sincere faith in Jesus Christ? I was chatting to my five-year old kid. He replied quickly, “Of course, dad.” “But have you ever really been saved? How do you know for certain that you have been saved?” “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved,” he responded. He snatched the words out of his mouth as quickly as his little mouth could form them. His poem was one he had learned and one he had heard many, many times before. Perhaps you would have responded in the same manner as he did.

  • Without a doubt, I believe in the deity of Jesus Christ.” Do you actually believe what you’re saying?
  • What is the best way to know for sure?
  • In their quest for some certainty that they would have a good existence beyond this life, men have walked down a variety of paths throughout history.
  • But what exactly is at stake?
  • One of the unavoidable truths that confronts each reader of the Bible is that man is born sinful and, as a result, is estranged from his Creator.
  • Man is shown to be born a sinner by nature, as evidenced by the fact that all men have sinned at some point in their lives.
  • There have been a variety of responses.

When following the teachings of his own theologians, an Orthodox Jew believes that if his good actions balance his evil works, he will spend eternally in the presence of God.

Depending on the religion, parents were required to offer their infant children to God as a fiery human sacrifice.

Most religions teach that salvation is a difficult and time-consuming process that cannot be accomplished quickly.

One method stands out among all the religions of the world: the Christian Gospel is the only one that does so.

Those who are in need of salvation see it as a gift from the Almighty.

2:8-9).

As a result, God does for man what he could never accomplish for himself, namely, providing a flawless mechanism of forgiveness by which man is absolved of his crimes.

This is the well-known doctrine of justification, which was saved from oblivion during the great Protestant Reformation under the leadership of Martin Luther.

However, it is undeniable that not everyone is saved, at least if one accepts the teachings of the Bible as authoritative.

“There is no one else who can rescue us; for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved,” Peter said (Acts 4:12).

How can I be saved?

(Acts 16:31).

What does it mean to believe?

It is a mental act in the sense that it entails the grasp of some truth, although to a relatively limited extent.

Because it necessitates a decision on our behalf, belief is likewise considered to be an act of the will (John 7:17).

According to the Bible, Jesus Christ was the God-man, embodying all that God is from eternity and everything that man is aside from sin.

He was the lamb of God’s offering (John 1:29).

He “carried our iniquities in his flesh,” as the saying goes (1 Pet.

To bring us closer to God, he died as “the righteous for the unrighteous” (1 Pet.

What kind of person would sacrifice their life for us?

This was the divine method, as it were.

But did He die in order to save everyone?

(Isa.

As stated in John 3:16-17, God’s love was extended to everyone on the planet “In fact, God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that whomever believes in him will not perish but but have eternal life with him.

However, the world as a whole did not accept Christ and did not take advantage of the opportunities He presented.

The act of accepting as fact and making a commitment of your own future to the promises of God to save you — simply by believing in Christ — is the act of believing.

“Do you actually believe what you’re saying?” True faith requires you to believe something about yourself, such as the fact that you are a sinner.

It entails believing that He died on the cross for our sins and as a result, paid the punishment for our sins.

It is a deliberate act of the will.

The parameters of the gospel are sometimes summarized in the expression that in order to be saved, we must welcome Christ into our hearts (Romans 10:9).

Actually, it is a part of the process of believing.

Due to the fact that you believe and are justified with your heart, and you confess and are saved with your tongue, ” (Rom.

Returning to the original question, “Do I really believe it?” You are the only one who has the ability to provide an answer to that question.

Have you truly placed your faith in the crucified hands of the One who died in your place in order to secure your everlasting salvation?

What level of willingness do you have to accept God’s solution?

The fundamental act of will, while it is somewhat an act of the intellect and partially an act of the emotions or of the heart, is one that is performed by the person who is doing it.

It was a large, prominent church with a lot of history.

His father was appealing for souls to come to Christ via the intercession of others.

His father’s remarks, on the other hand, echoed in his ears.

But was he who he claimed to be?

In order to deal with the enormous dilemma, he got up out of bed and down on his knees, praying this simple prayer.

He slipped back into his bed and was fast asleep within a few minutes of returning.

Many years later, the high school senior would return to his father’s church as a pastor, where he would oversee the salvation of hundreds of people over the course of the next few decades.

Lewis Sperry Chafer recalls that when that young kid, who is now a well-known preacher in his own right, heard about the potential of Dallas Seminary being established as a school for preacher training, he told him, “This seminary must be in Dallas.” Dr.

What brings a person to faith in Jesus?

For those who are frequent readers of our site, you will know that we are big fans of taking little steps. Not the kind that consumes 12,000 calories per day. But it’s the steps of faith that we encourage one another to take with the people with whom we live, work, study, or play in our everyday lives that count. The odds are good that you’re already familiar with this concept if you’ve been a Christian for any length of time. Possibly your pastor has exhorted you to take a stand for what you believe in your area or inside your church.

Is it possible that the process of becoming a Christian might be seen of as a series of faith-filled steps taken one after another?

How people with no faith take steps of faith

I used to work full-time in college ministry among students in Europe a few years ago, and I miss it. It was my responsibility to teach believing students how to effectively convey their religion to their peers. They would then ideally be able to influence their friends to the point where they would make the decision to begin a personal relationship with Christ. I was having a hard time. People were open, though frequently resistant, to the concepts I offered about Jesus when I shared them with them.

This book altered the way I saw my work and the challenges I faced.

Though everyone’s encounter with God is unique, the interviews revealed a common path that many people take on their journey toward God.

As a reminder, the five steps of faith are as follows:

  1. Making a Christian your trusted advisor
  2. Being inquiring
  3. Being open to change
  4. Seeking after God
  5. Entering the kingdom of God

I’m not going to go into detail about the book here. However, I strongly advise you to read “I Once Was Lost” or any of the other materials offered by the writers instead. In my capacity as a MissionHub user and as someone who wishes to explain the gospel in the context of my current location, I believe that knowing what it takes for someone to come to faith is essential.

Why it’s worth understanding the steps

To effectively communicate the gospel with others in your life, or to develop a loving connection with them, it is necessary for you to first understand where they are in their spiritual path. What obstacles do they need to overcome in order to accept the message you want to communicate with them. To help your friend or family member take the next step toward faith, you must pray and seek God’s guidance and understanding. You run the risk of strengthening such barriers if you overlook the obstacles that individual faces in his or her journey to religion.

Step 1 — Trusting a Christian

Just because you believe you are a trustworthy individual does not imply that others will also believe you are trustworthy. Trust is difficult to earn and much more difficult to maintain. Getting individuals to talk about their spiritual views may be particularly difficult, especially when they are reluctant to do so. The unfortunate reality is that many people have bad notions about Christians and our beliefs. They frequently expect us to pass judgment on them. Alternatively, they believe we are simply waiting for an appropriate opportunity to repeat our written presentation of the gospel.

In creating your stages of faith, keep in mind that the first step for those folks will be trusting you enough to share their reasons for believing something different than you do.

How can you reassure them that they are in safe hands? Perhaps it is a matter of being patient and understanding when to wait, when to offer a question, and when to listen.

Step 2 — Becoming curious

What actions can you take to pique the interest of people in your religious beliefs? It makes a difference how you spend your life. You must make it clear to the individuals in your life that your time, money, and energy are being used for something else. You may incorporate allusions to activities that you are participating in, such as religious events, into your discourse. Alternatively, you might refer to how you perceive things as a result of your trust in Jesus. What can you do to encourage them to take a leap of faith and express their curiosity?

  1. You must be intensely and persistently inquisitive about the people in your life in order to be successful.
  2. What do they have a strong interest in?
  3. Being open and honest about the issues you’ve been grappling with will also pique someone’s interest in learning more about you.
  4. But first and foremost, people must feel protected in order to be recognized.

Step 3 — Opening up to change

This was the concept in the novel “I Once Was Lost” that piqued my interest the most. Curiosity about your faith on the part of someone and true openness to change on the part of that person are not the same thing. However, the two terms are commonly used interchangeably. A common occurrence while speaking with persons from different cultural backgrounds is a misinterpretation of their intentions. In my previous job, I had the opportunity to meet kids from many countries. I discovered that they were generally more receptive to my explanations of the gospel than students from my home country was.

However, I discovered that just because they agreed to participate in the dialogue did not imply that they were on the verge of saying yes to Jesus.

Just remember to check in with them on a regular basis to see if they feel like anything needs to be changed in their lives.

That is them taking a very serious step of trust in the direction of you, and eventually in the direction of Jesus.

Step 4 — Seeking after God

No amount of persuasion can make someone want God any more than they already do. If it were not the case, I would be very disappointed. I have several friends and family members that are stuck at step 2 of the process. One of my dearest friends is among them. Perhaps you are acquainted with those that are curious as to why you retain your opinions. However, they are not ready to change the things that are at the core of their lives, and they do not consciously desire God. They are most certainly not pleased with the prospect of allowing him to take control of their lives.

What should you do if your attention is drawn to someone who does not appear to be pursuing God?

You may show him or her love, pray for him or her, and exhibit the gospel to them.

According to my observations, they begin to want for more time with God.

They begin to look at their own lives genuinely and in reference to the Scriptures for the first time. You detect a yearning for a deeper connection with God, as well as a desire to “do the math” on what that will entail.

Step 5 — Entering the kingdom

Is it possible that there are persons in your life who appear to be ready to receive Jesus? They’ve asked all of their questions, cleared up all of their uncertainties, and have a continual desire to learn more about establishing a connection with the Almighty God. What should I do now? It’s easy to jump into having them say a prayer to devote their lives to Jesus before you’ve even gotten to know them. However, in my experience, when I allow my excitement to take control of the situation, I sometimes forget to ask certain critical questions.

  • What, in your opinion, does it mean to commit your life to Christ? How do you feel about the thought of putting Jesus in charge of your future – including your work, relationships, and so on
  • What changes do you expect to occur in your life as a result of becoming a Christian?

The objective is not only to get the people you know to verbally pledge their lives to Jesus; rather, it is to help them do so. Their mouthing those words while remaining steadfast in their refusal to relinquish their lives will simply provide them with a false impression of where they are on their path. When you think they have a thorough knowledge of the decision they’re making, it is time to assist them in taking this leap of faith. Explain to them what it means to abandon their previous way of life.

And don’t forget to be joyful as they come to terms with the new life that Jesus is offering them.

We want to see this happen more frequently in the future.

Use MissionHub to take the next step

We created MissionHub in order to assist you in considering the individuals God has placed in your life before acting with love and boldness toward them. Are you struggling to come up with a concept for the next step of faith to build on MissionHub? Think about someone who you identified as uninterested or inquisitive in the app and write down their name. If you haven’t done so already, pray to God to bring someone from your past to your attention. Create a leap of faith that you can share with that individual.

How can you know for sure that you believe in Jesus?

To illustrate, consider the question: Are we just interested in those who are interested in God? Gaelle Marcel took the photo.

Bible Answer:

The reasons why people are unsure whether or not they believe in Jesus Christ are threefold.

They are Not Christians

The primary reason individuals are unsure about whether or not they believe in Jesus is that they don’t believe in him. That is, they have never professed faith in Jesus Christ. They do not accept Jesus’ claim to be the Son of God. Because they do not believe that He died for their sins and that He is the only one who can forgive their sins, they are condemned to eternal punishment. The assertion that He is God, that He died on the cross for our sins, that He has risen from the dead, and that He will one day reign as the world’s ruler is rejected by those who do not believe in Him.

They do not profess to be Christians. Although Jesus claimed that these things were true about himself, the Old Testament says that He is God and foretold that these events would take place in the future.

Teaching Is Not Clear

Some Christians are unsure of their faith because they are unfamiliar with the teachings of the Bible on salvation and salvation assurance. As a result, we’ll go over some fundamentals. First and foremost, the Jews recognized that Jesus claimed to be God, despite the fact that they agreed that He was. According to the following remark, “We do not stone You for doing a good deed, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man, make yourself out to be God,” the Jews responded to Jesus. John 10:33 (New American Standard Bible) The miracles and wonders performed by Jesus, as well as his life and teachings, demonstrated that He was God.

Upon the arrival of Sabbath, He began teaching in the synagogue, to the amazement of the large audience, who inquired: “Where did this guy receive these things, and what is this wisdom that has been given to Him, and what are these marvels that have been accomplished by His hands?” Mark 6:2 (New American Standard Bible) Many more signs were done in the presence of the disciples by Jesus, which are not included in this book; but, these have been recorded so that you may believe that Jesus is Christ, the Son of God, and that believing will result in your receiving life through His name.

  • John 20:30-31 (New American Standard Bible) What does it mean to have faith in Jesus Christ?
  • Second, it implies that one thinks Jesus has the ability to redeem him or her from the consequences of sin.
  • That is the lesson of Romans 6:23, according to the Bible.
  • (NASB) 6:23 (Rom.
  • It is this gospel that you will stand on and by which you will be saved, provided you hold fast to the word that I proclaimed to you and did not believe in vain.
  • (NASB) 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 is a passage from the New Testament.
  • As a result, they respond by pleading with God for pardon, and as a result, they are prepared to surrender to or yield to Him in submission or obedience.
  • Please see “The Rescue!” for further details.

Sin In The Life

Some Christians are unsure of their faith because they are unfamiliar with the teachings of the Bible on salvation and salvation assurances. As a result, we’ll go through the fundamentals. In the first place, the Jews recognized that Jesus claimed to be God, despite the fact that they agreed that He was. This fact is represented in the following statement: “We do not stone You because of a wonderful job; rather, we stone You because You, being a man, make yourself out to be God.” John 10:33 in the New American Standard Bible (NASB).

  1. A number of miracles have been documented in Jewish historical records; nonetheless, the gospels report that the people were taken aback by what they seen and heard.
  2. “.
  3. John 20:30–31 (New American Standard Bible) In what way does believing in Jesus make you a better person?
  4. Secondly, it implies that one thinks that Jesus has the ability to redeem him or her from the consequences of their sin.
  5. According to Romans 6:23, this is the message.
  6. (NASB) 6:23 (Rom.
  7. It is this gospel that you will stand on and by which you will be saved, provided you hold fast to the word that I preached to you and did not believe in vain, as I have told you.
  8. (NASB) Corinthians 15:1-4 is a passage from the Bible that says, True believers in Jesus Christ see themselves as sinners in desperate need of forgiveness.

Thus, people reply by pleading for God’s pardon, and as a result, they are prepared to surrender or resign their wills and lives to Him in submission and obedience. Faith in God is what it is all about. More details may be found in ” The Rescue!”.

Conclusion:

What is the best way to determine whether or not you are a Christian? If you are a Christian, you should read this. 1) Go through what the Bible says it means to believe in Jesus Christ and how to do so. For further information, please see the page “Searching for God.” 2) Ask yourself, “Am I committing a sin that is ongoing or significant?” “Marks of a Christian,” which describes the traits of a Christian, should be reviewed.

How do I believe in Jesus as my Savior?

“Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved,” is the Bible’s answer (Acts 16:31b). Before you may come to faith in Jesus as your Savior, you must first understand what it is that you need to be saved from. You may avoid getting wet by using an umbrella. Your safety is ensured by wearing a helmet. Jesus has the ability to free you from the consequences and power of your sin. Each and every one of us has committed a sin against God (Romans 3:23). Our efforts, no matter how sincere, will always fall short of God’s flawless standard.

  • In order to punish unbelieving sinners for their wrongdoing, God will separate them to a region of permanent death: hell.
  • However, because of God’s immense love, He sent His own Son to die on the cross in their place, so saving Christians from this terrible punishment.
  • Salvation is God’s gift to repentant sinners who believe in him.
  • Being a believer entails more than just declaring, “I believe in Jesus.” It entails you coming to Jesus in repentance and trust as follows: Repentance is defined as a shift in one’s perspective on sin (2 Corinthians 7:10).
  • Repentance is the transformation from a desire to sin and a desire to enjoy sin to a desire to hate sin and a desire to quit sinning.
  • However, Jesus died and resurrected from the dead in order to rescue Christians from their sin.

Anyone who believes in him will not perish but will have eternal life, according to the Bible ” (John 3:16).

Anyone who refuses to accept the Son will be without life.

God’s wrath is still raging against him ” (John 3:36). “So repent and turn away from your transgressions. Turn your attention to God. Then all of your sins will be forgiven you. The Lord will bring about a moment when everything will be made fresh ” (Acts 3:19).

I really want to believe in God and in Jesus, but I just can’t conquer my doubts.

Yes, it’s possible that some people are more likely to be skeptics. Following the resurrection, Thomas, one of Jesus’ followers, was in possession of the same information as the other disciples, but, unlike them, he first refused to believe. After seeing Christ, his misgivings were quickly dispelled, and he cried with delight, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28). Take note of what has changed, Thomas: Instead of his emotions, it was the knowledge that Christ was still alive and concerned about him.

  • You know, our faith is frequently dependent only on our emotions; we may believe that God is near us or that we believe in Christ at times, but we may not believe in Christ at other times.
  • Despite the fact that our emotions come and go, the facts stay.
  • Simple as that: Place your trust in Christ, and keep your attention fixed on Him as He is revealed in His Word, the Bible.
  • Begin by asking Christ to come into your life, which He will do without hesitation.
  • It is only by doing so that your faith will increase and your doubts will go.

What Does It Mean to Believe in Jesus Christ?

There are millions of individuals who declare a belief in Jesus Christ, but is their faith consistent with the scriptural account of what it means to believe in Jesus? Is it possible that your trust in Christ is a counterfeit imitation of the genuine article? Or, on the other hand, do you believe that trust in Jesus Christ is a meaningless, emotional platitude that has no real significance? Do you believe that belief in Christ is the domain of religious fanatics who are out of touch with the practical needs, issues, and realities of everyday life?

In response to those who did not believe, the genuine Jesus of Nazareth sounded a warning: “You are from below; I am from above.” You are a creature of this world; I am not a creature of this world.

Certainly, the issue of trust in Jesus Christ is not a trivial one that should be left to the religiously emotional.

It is instantly apparent that the subject of what it genuinely means to believe in the true Jesus Christ of the Bible is an important one to consider. As we will see, believing in Christ entails placing one’s confidence in Him and following through on His commands.

The foundation: His existence, identity and nature

Faith in Christ entails believing the following:

  • That He is God and divine, the same sort of existence as the Father, yet he is willingly subservient to the Father’s rule
  • That He lived eternally with the Father, without origin or end
  • That He is the Son of God
  • And that He is the Son of God. That He walked this earth as a man—that Christ was a real, historical figure
  • That He continues to exist at the right hand of the Father
  • And that the goal of true Christians is to grow into His likeness (And He Himself appointed some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edification of the body of Christ, til the day of Christ comes). It is on the foundation of faith in Christ that one may place one’s trust in the credibility of the Gospel stories as a source of historical truth. Take the time to investigate and verify the sources and veracity of the reports you’ve heard or read. You will also discover that there is a plethora of sources outside of the Bible that prove without a reasonable question that these writings were written by actual apostles about a real Jesus of Nazareth, and that these sources are reliable. Jesus of Nazareth sent a word from God, which is referred to as thegospel, which literally translates as “good news.” Several passages in the gospels suggest that Christ will come to earth in the form of a king, and like any other monarch, He will rule over a kingdom that includes people, territory, and rules that He wants His subjects to follow.
