What Happens When You Have An Encounter With Jesus?

Paul’s Encounter With Jesus in the Scripture

On his way to Damascus, Saul had a chance meeting with Jesus, which forever altered the course of his life from that moment forward. The following three points will stand out when we study Saul’s personal meetings with Jesus: First, he saw Jesus; then he spoke with him; and finally, he preached in Jesus’ honor. There are two viewpoints on a personal contact with Jesus: His point of view and our perspective on it!However, as you study your Bible, you will come to realize that the Scriptures only explain our point of view, not the point of view of Jesus Christ. In addition, there is a compelling rationale for this. However, despite the fact that Saul had a personal encounter with Jesus, the disciples in Jerusalem remained fearful of him.

  • His reputation as a persecutor of Christians and a jailer of Christians precedes him in this world.
  • Upon arriving in Jerusalem, Saul attempted to associate himself with the disciples, but they were all terrified of him and did not believe that he was one of them.
  • 9:26 (Acts 9:26) I’ve written previously about some of the initial characteristics of a disciple of Jesus Christ.
  • These, on the other hand, are additional characteristics shared by every follower of Jesus.
  • For one thing, the Apostles in Jerusalem had every reason not to put their faith in Saul since he had no personal contacts with Jesus; the Lord had not spoken to him, and he had not yet spoken in the name of Jesus Christ!

What is an Encounter With Jesus?

Your first encounter with Jesus is the first time you have had a personal experience with him or met him in person. That meeting will go down in history as the most powerful and revolutionary meeting you will ever attend.Meeting Jesus is not a physical event that takes place. It is not about coming into contact with Christ’s presence that your interaction with him is about. This would imply that you have already been saved, which would be incorrect.Because a personal encounter with Jesus is the first time a sinner has had a personal encounter with Christ.

  • Sinners do not have an experience of God’s presence!
  • Only those who believe do!
  • As a result, a single face-to-face encounter with the Lord will alter your life forever!
  • He must be touched in some way, whether naturally or through faith.
  • Because Jesus has returned to heaven, we must, by necessity, communicate with him via faith.

Is Your Encounter With Christ by Choice?

You will not be able to choose where you will meet the Lord because you will never know where you will meet him until you do.He has complete control over the timing and location of the event.Consider the story of Saul of Tarsus and his encounter with the devil. In a similar vein, consider Matthew (the Tax Collector) and his experience.Don’t forget about Zacchaeus, either.None of them could have predicted that he would have a spiritual encounter with the Lord.

  • Have you had a personal encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ?
  • Saul came face to face with him, and the event changed his life and ours forever.
  • However, because of Saul’s reputation among Christians, the followers of Jesus were skeptical of his claim that he had a personal contact with Jesus.
  • They believed he was faking in order to entrap and eventually jail them, and they were right.
  • The apostles were informed by Barnabas that he had seen and talked with the Lord on the road to Damascus, and that he had courageously preached in the name of Jesus in Damascus.
  • 9:27 (Acts 9:27) Whereas the truths of Jesus Christ are not taught and proclaimed, there is no experience with the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • These folks were not acquainted with Christ, nor did they have any direct experience of his presence or power.

Encounters With Jesus in Scripture

Here Is a List of Encounters With Jesus in the Bible

It is possible that others will not believe your account of seeing the Lord unless someone else speaks on your behalf. In the same way that Barnabas did for Saul.In turn, Saul’s gratitude for this initial act of compassion on his side would spark a lifetime of friendship between them.Have You Heard Jesus Speak to You?Conversations are the seeds of every change, whether for the better or for the worse.Saul’s life was disrupted when Jesus talked to him.

  • The tormentor morphed into the nurturer and father figure to many people in his later years.
  • Even battles are won or lost depending on the talks that take place during them.
  • Also as a result of that first chat, you and your spouse are now wedded to one another.
  • If it hadn’t been for it, you wouldn’t be married right now.
  • In everyday prayer, have a conversation with Jesus.
  • Inquire about essential issues, and he will offer acceptable responses to your concerns.

How To Encounter Jesus?

Due to the fact that Jesus Christ is no longer physically present with us due to his ascension into heaven, we must learn how to engage with him through the medium of his Holy Ghost.Always be on the lookout for opportunities to participate in discussion with people.Anyone, even complete strangers, should be approached.Inform them about your own encounters with the Lord Jesus Christ. This necessitates a certain level of audacity.I must warn you that I am an incredibly bold and brave individual.

  • My wife will attest to the fact that this is true!
  • The opportunity to speak into someone’s circumstance in the name of Jesus Christ arises with every encounter you have with that individual.
  • Even when I’m not praying, I’d chat to the Lord on the phone or in person.
  • If you happen to overhear my ramblings, you might think I’m on the verge of bursting out laughing.

Talking to The Holy Ghost and Meeting Jesus

Recently, I found myself trying to recall the name of someone but failing miserably. So I asked the Holy Ghost, ″Holy Ghost, what is the name of that young guy who resided in Port Maria and with whom I had Bible studies some twenty-five years ago?″ He replied, ″That young man whose name is .″ And I went on with whatever it was that I was doing.I was overjoyed because the Lord Jesus had brought his name back to my thoughts shortly after that. The Bible is a genuine work of God.Jesus promised us that the Comforter would restore things to our memories that had been forgotten. So make advantage of Him.

  • ‘But the Comforter, who is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring all things to your recollection, whatsoever I have spoken unto you,’ says the Lord.
  • 14:26 (John 14:26)

Meeting Jesus 101

  • Please keep in mind that one of the ways Jesus communicates with us is via other people.
  • As a result, ″whatsoever I have spoken unto you″ may be coming from someone you’ve met and had a conversation with.
  • A meeting with Jesus is a meeting with the written Word of God.
  • This could occur when we hear another believer preaching or teaching the Word of God, or it could occur while we are reading the Bible.

Your Encounter With Jesus Involves This

  • It’s important to note that the Bible says ″all things.″ This isn’t only about the Word of God and the Scriptures and all that sort of thing.
  • It means that anything you wish to recall but are unable to do so will be brought ″to your remembrance″ by Him.
  • You must, however, inquire of Him.
  • He does not reveal this knowledge to anyone.

Why?You will obtain what you ask for.Did you know also that if you are born again, according to the Word of God, the sicknesses of the world shouldn’t afflict you?

  • To give an example, just because some unsaved and Christian people you may know are suffering from Alzheimer’s disease as they grow older does not imply that you should as well.
  • No.
  • The Holy Ghost is our watchman and keeper.

He gives us peace of mind.We are not going to forget anything.Even when we are in our golden years, we will remember some things. One of the legacies of a Christian is the ability to be free of disease.

Having a Personal Encounter With Jesus Shall Force You To…

  • Your personal encounter with Jesus will transform you in such a way that others will begin to notice the transformation.
  • Your mannerisms will change.
  • You will now begin to speak about him in detail.
  • It occurred to Saul in exactly the same way.

″And he was with them as they came into and left Jerusalem,″ the Bible says (Acts 9:28).Your personal interactions with Jesus will push you to speak in his name as a result of your experiences. His boldness in proclaiming the name of Jesus and disputing with the Grecians resulted in his being on the verge of being killed by his adversaries (Acts 9:29).

  • False notions about what should follow when a person has their first personal encounter with Jesus Christ are prevalent among many individuals.
  • They are under the impression that everything will proceed well.
  • The inverse, on the other hand, is true.

Having a Personal Encounter With Jesus Will Do This

  • First and foremost, you become a target.
  • Unfit as a vessel for wickedness and evil.
  • Strangers and friends will want to get rid of you because you are now claiming to be a follower of Jesus Christ.
  • They will direct death’s path towards you, but do not be alarmed because the Lord is with us at all times.

The subject of scathing remarks, you will find yourself in this position. Then, instead of being the target of everyone’s evil, you become the weapon that God employs to expose and demolish it, as you progress through life.″When the brethren learned of it, they carried him down to Caesarea and dispatched him to Tarsus,″ the Bible says (Acts 9:30).

  • Churches were edified after that, as people walked in fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit throughout all of Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, as recorded in Acts 2:42-47.
  • (See Acts 9:31.) As a result, having a personal encounter with Jesus Christ will prepare you.
  • It will enable and empower you to go out into the world and proclaim the King, Jesus Christ, as you see and hear him.

What Happens When You Have an Encounter With Jesus?

  • The Lamb’s Book of Life will not contain our names if we do not have a personal encounter with Jesus Christ during our lifetime.
  • And we will be lost for all eternity, to be tormented by the Devil in his tormentors’ paradise.
  • Another advantage of having a personal encounter with Jesus Christ is that it has the ability to alter your life immediately.
  • If you have your first meeting with him, you will never be the same person again.

However, this outcome is only possible if you approach your encounter with Jesus with complete trust in him.Three things will come to light as a result of your interactions with Jesus: The Lord Jesus Christ will appear to you, and he will speak to you; you will preach and teach in the name of Christ. Is Jesus Christ present in your life since you professed your faith in him?

  • If the answer is no, you must see him.
  • As soon as you grasp the depths of the heart, the nature of the Son of God, and the character of the Son of God, you will never again worship any other god except the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • He alone is the one and only genuine God.

Until you have your first encounter with Jesus Christ, your life will be ordinary. You will never be the same again after this experience. In a same vein, Jesus is unable to talk to you, and you keep silent. If you do it, you will have the same experience as the prophet Jeremiah did when he attempted it.

This scripture, which follows, explains it further.″I then declared that I would never longer make any mention of him or speak in his name in the future. But his speech was like if it were a scorching fire that had been sealed up in my bones, and I had grown tired of forbearing, and I couldn’t stand it any more.″ Jeremiah 20:9 (Jeremiah 20:9)

Meeting Jesus Is Unique

  • Your encounter with Jesus Christ will be the most memorable event in your life for the rest of your days.
  • It had such an impact on you that you will never forget it.
  • When you meet with Jesus, you will recall it with such clearly that it will look to others as if it had just occurred to you.
  • It will remain etched in your memory for the rest of your life.

In addition, everyone who has a personal encounter with the Lord will get this report. If you keep your mouth shut, you will feel as if you are about to burst into flames at any minute. One of the reasons I blog is to express myself.

  • I need to find a way to communicate the Word of God that is residing in my heart through a means.
  • Because we will not all have churches, some of us will be required to write and spread the Gospel of the Kingdom!
  • You will eternally speak in the name of Jesus after meeting him and hearing him speak to you for the first time.

Every encounter with Jesus is therefore characterized by conversation. He communicates by way of conversation. We are the only ones who can speak for the Lord God.Pay close attention to conversations as a result, because we never know which ones He might use to initiate our meeting with Jesus in the future.

Your Personal Encounter With God and Speaking

  • Nicodemus’ meeting with God consisted of a spoken exchange.
  • Likewise, the encounter with the woman by the well proved fruitless.
  • And we must not forget the experience of the thief on the cross, which we will discuss later.
  • All of the information you will ever get from the Lord will come via discussion.

It is really essential to Him.As a result, make certain that it is also important to you.How could you have such a life-altering encounter with Jesus and be silent about it?

  • You won’t be able to.
  • Following that, you will carry out all of your actions in his honor.
  • To summarize, the Lord Jesus desires for every believers to have a personal encounter with Him.

Some, like as Saul, are called by Him, while others, such as ourselves, must seek Him.And, as we seek the truth of God’s Word, we will unavoidably come face to face with Jesus Christ, whose presence will change our lives forever.

3 Life-Changing Truths to Know about Encounters with God

  • God may be found in the smallest of details as well as the grandest of events.
  • We all have our own unique God encounters, which we may share with one another.
  • Yes, I’ve had a number of significant God encounters over the course of my life.
  • When I was nine years old, I surrendered my life to the Lord.

Then I stepped to the front of my church and informed the pastor that I had accepted Jesus into my heart. After that, I went through several Bible studies to learn more about what it meant to be a believer. That was my very first brush with the divine.

  • It was straightforward and basic.
  • In my heart, even at such a young age, and despite my inability to completely comprehend the depth of my own sin, I realized I needed a Savior to save me from my predicament.
  • That Sunday marked the beginning of my relationship with Christ.

I was recently requested to speak on my own God encounters, which I gladly agreed to do.The first time I recall encountering God and the timeline of miracles – both large and small – that have occurred in my life over the past 30 years came to mind as I sat down to write some notes. My first miracle, aside from my salvation experience (which was a miracle in and of itself), is something I recall. In my devotion to God, I read my Bible every day, went to Sunday school every week, and talked to God in my prayers and in my conversations with God.

I came to understand that Jesus was my best friend in a straightforward but profound way.My life was a complete mess at the time: my father was an alcoholic, and my mother had been murdered several years before.and I was subjected to constant physical and verbal abuse at home.It was chaos, but I was completely in love with Jesus despite the circumstances.

  1. At the time, I was around ten years old, and it was the holiday season in general.
  2. As my family was wrapping Christmas presents in the living room, my stepmother approached me and asked if I had the tape she needed for one of the packages.
  3. I started looking, and looking, and looking…
  4. and looked some more.
  5. It was nowhere to be found.
  • Given my childhood abuse, I was immediately concerned that if I didn’t locate the tape, I would be in serious trouble.
  • Fortunately, I was proven correct.
  • I looked in every direction I could think of.
  • Finally, as a ten-year-old little girl, I made the decision to go into my room, lie across my bed, and pray about the situation.
  • I put my hands over my eyes and begged God to help show me where the tape had gone missing.
  • Within seconds, I jumped out of bed and walked straight to my parents’ bedroom, where I went into their closet and pulled the tape off a shelf on the other side of the closet door.
  • Now, I’m well aware that this isn’t some sort of earth-shattering miracle.
  • However, it was my miracle, something that God had done for me personally.

My childish faith was certain that God had heard me and that what was important to me was equally important to Him.God may be found in the smallest of details as well as the grandest of events.God Encounters take on a distinct appearance for everyone of us.Yes, I’ve had a number of significant God Encounters over the course of my life.

When I was in the car with my mother the morning she was killed, God intervened and saved me from certain death. When I was nearly choked to death by an enraged relative, God intervened and saved my life.He was there for me when I had nothing to feed my children since I had nothing in my refrigerator or cabinets. He showed up as a kind neighbor, knocking on my door and bringing a hot supper to me.When my 1984 Mercury broke down on the side of the road on a number of occasions, I had an encounter with God.

I started the journey back home with two toddlers in tow.He appeared in the guise of friends who happened to be driving by at the time.God was with me when a random one hundred dollar note arrived in my mailbox with no name or address on it, just as I was about to go hungry for the rest of the week.He was there for me on my first Christmas as a single mother…

  1. and he was there on my seventh Christmas as a single mother.
  2. When I was beaten, homeless, and hopeless, God was there to help me.
  3. In my life, I’ve been face to face with God in a countless number of situations.
  1. He appears in every season, whether or not we recognize Him as a result of our actions.
  2. He is present.
  3. The culmination of our life’s journey is an encounter with our Lord and Savior.
  1. When life has beaten us down and we are exhausted or simply tired of being disappointed, it can be difficult for us to recognize God’s encounters with us.
  2. Following His faithfulness in my own life, there are a few things I’ve discovered regarding God Encounters.
  3. They are as follows: 1.
  1. Do not be intimidated by the interaction.
  2. We have a natural dread of things we don’t comprehend.
  3. Because God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but rather a spirit of power, love, and a clear conscience (2 Timothy 1:7).
  4. You may be going through a period where you are looking left and right and cannot see God at all.
  1. You may be concerned about your future.
  2. You may be concerned about what your children may grow up to be.
  3. You may be concerned that you will be alone forever.
  4. You may be concerned about your financial future.
  5. I’m not sure what you’re afraid of today.

In the meanwhile, I want to encourage you that in order for God to show up in your life and perform a miracle, you must be in the best possible position. When it comes to getting a miracle, the difficulty is that you have to be in a position to receive one.And none of us wants to find ourselves in that situation!God Encounters occur at the most inopportune times, according to His schedule, and in ways that we cannot comprehend.

  1. But don’t be afraid of coming face to face with Him.
  2. He’s going to show up, no doubt about it.
  3. 2.
  4. Don’t be concerned about the interaction.
  5. Has God ever made an appearance in your life?
  6. You’ve probably experienced times in your life when only He could have answered your prayers.

Yes, without a doubt! So, why are we so concerned that He will not appear this time, in this scenario, as He has in the past?Philippians 4:6-7 instructs us not to be concerned about anything; instead, we should pray about everything.Inform God of your needs and express gratitude for all that he has done. And then there’s…You will be enveloped in God’s peace, which surpasses our ability to comprehend it fully.

There is no need to be concerned that God will not show up.You will come into contact with Him.We spend a disproportionate amount of time fretting about life rather than really living it.The secret for God’s peace is simple: don’t be concerned about anything at all.

Pray about everything and everything.Inform Him of your requirements.Thank Him for everything that He has already accomplished.3.

  • Do not let the interaction pass you by.
  • God will not only appear, but he will also manifest himself.
  • He has the ability to move mountains.

He will shower blessings on you.He will grant you freedom. He will make joy the substitute for anger and bitterness. But don’t take the chance of failing the encounter.

  • When He does appear, don’t forget to give Him all of your praise for the rest of your life.
  • Don’t be a Christian who only shows up when it’s convenient.
  • When God shows up for us, we are filled with joy and gratitude for around 30 seconds.

But then we’ve merely added another item to the already lengthy list.We start pleading with Him for something else.We begin looking for the next high—the next God Encounter—and the cycle continues.Even if God doesn’t do anything else for us, He has already done more than enough. He paid the price for us to be with Him in eternity.

  • He brings happiness to our hearts.
  • Others are unable to grasp the tranquility that he provides.
  • He transforms his tears into dance.
  • Let us all learn to be patient between God Encounters, to be hopeful for future ones, and to be grateful for the miracles that He has already performed.

5 Things That Happen When You Encounter Jesus

  • This week, I had the privilege of presenting a lesson on a woman from the Bible who was devoted to God.
  • I chose the Woman at the Well in John 4 as an illustration of this because I believe it is maybe my favorite example.
  • I discovered some interesting things while researching this topic more thoroughly over the last couple of weeks, which I thought I’d share with you as well.
  • We’ll start with the setting of the story, which is as follows: In the meantime, when Jesus learned that the Pharisees had learned that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John 2 (despite the fact that Jesus himself did not baptize, but only His disciples), 3 He left Judea and returned to Galilee.

4 In addition, He needed to cross through Samaria.Consequently, He traveled to a village in Samaria named Sychar, which was close to the farm that Jacob had given to his son Joseph.6 Jacob’s well was nearby, and so Jesus, exhausted from His travels, was reclining beside it, drinking water.

  • It was around six o’clock at the time.
  • As is always the case, there is some commotion caused by people who aren’t interested in what Jesus is doing or who don’t grasp exactly what is going on, and this causes Him to move on for a while.
  • As He makes His way to Galilee, He travels through the region of Samaria.

This is an area where Jews would have been less than enthusiastic about stopping. In fact, the vast majority of them would have taken the long route around in order to avoid Samaria altogether.Samaritans were an ethnically mixed group of people who were part-Jewish and part-Gentile in their heritage. The dislike for them was shared by both Jews and Gentiles, but Jews would have seen them as filthy and disgusting.

Besides their own version of the Pentateuch and their own temple on Mount Gerizim, which will become important later in this story, the Samaritans also had their own version of the Bible. So it’s almost midday, and Jesus is exhausted, so He takes a break by Jacob’s well to recharge his batteries. We’re about to find out what happens when a Samaritan lady comes face to face with Jesus.A chance meeting with Jesus:

  1. Will often not be what we expected
  • 7 A woman from Samaria came to the well to fetch water.
  • ″Please give me a drink,″ Jesus instructed her.
  • 8 (Because His disciples had gone into the city to purchase food, He was alone.) 9 ″How is it that you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a lady of Samaria?″ the Samaritan woman questioned Him.
  • (Because Jews do not have business dealings with Samaritans.) We can see a few different ways in which this unnamed woman is taken by surprise when she meets Jesus in this passage.

In addition, it is noon, and she is probably not accustomed to seeing anyone at the well during that time of day. It’s likely that the majority of people would have come to the well early in the morning or late in the evening, when the temperatures were cooler. However, as we’ll see in a few verses when we learn more about her character, she most likely had a valid reason to avoid being there during peak hours of operation.

  • Most likely, there are a lot of people in town who think she’s unworthy of their respect.
  • As a result, seeing anyone at all is a pleasant surprise.
  • She is also surprised because she is well aware that He is a Jew and, as a result, should despise her.

For the most part, most Jews would have avoided any contact with her because they would have assumed doing so would render them unclean.Besides engaging with her, he also requests that she provide him with water. He isn’t concerned about being branded dirty as a result of her actions. And once again, she is taken aback by the fact that she is a woman and He is a man.

It probably wouldn’t have been normal for a stranger to strike up a conversation with her in such a casual manner. In other words, she’s running into a lot of unexpected obstacles!I know that in my own life, when I come to Jesus, I usually have a lot of expectations of what I want him to do.However, He has His own plan, which is frequently different from mine, but always better.

  1. I could anticipate Him to provide me with solutions to a query I have, but instead He simply provides me with more of Himself.
  2. Rather of leading me along a certain path in my life, He reminds me to seek Him first, and everything else will fall into place after that.
  3. I could have expected Him to remove specific tragedies or challenges from my life, but instead He just urges me to trust Him and wait patiently for the outcome.
  4. I could anticipate Him to teach me one thing, but He surprises me by teaching me something completely else.
  5. Whatever it is, Jesus enjoys taking us by surprise and reminding us that He has everything under control.
  • As a result, when we come to Him, we should prepare ourselves for the unexpected!
  1. Addresses questions we didn’t know needed answers
  • 10 As Jesus said to her, ″If you had known the gift of God, and who it is that is asking to you, ‘Give me a drink’ you would have asked Him, and He would have provided you with live water.″ He continued, 11 ‘Sir, you don’t have anything to take water from the well, and it’s deep,’ the woman explained to Him.
  • Who or what is providing you with this life-giving water?
  • 12 Do you think you’re more powerful than our ancestor Jacob?
  • ″He gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his livestock,″ says the author of the book.

13 ″Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again,″ Jesus said to her.It is my intention that the water I give him will become in him a spring of water that will gush up into eternal life.″ 15 ″Sir, please give me this water so that I will not be thirsty and will not have to come here to fetch water,″ the lady requested of Him.At first glance, we see that she is completely absorbed in the literal water of this well.

  • She’s never heard of the concept of living water.
  • She has no idea where to search for it or how to hope for it.
  • She isn’t sure how to go about asking for it.

Jesus, on the other hand, exposes her to this question. But it’s wonderful to see that as soon as He explains it to her, she’s entirely on board…even if it appears that she doesn’t really get what He’s talking about. She’s the one who’s asking for a drink now.Consider a moment in your life when you didn’t know Jesus, or a time when you did know Jesus but were still wandering or suffering in your faith.

Did Jesus ever disclose something to you at those moments that you didn’t even realize you needed until it was revealed to you?I’m well aware of this since it has occurred to me.It’s similar to what we said about Him being unexpected earlier in the chapter. There have been numerous occasions when I’ve turned to Him, asking Him to assist me in dealing with someone who is causing me irritation or frustration, and He has always responded positively.

  1. But it was the question I hadn’t realized I needed an answer for that turned out to be, ″What is it in your heart, Kristin, that has to alter in the way you engage with this person?″ What aspects of your life do you not rely on Me for?
  2. In what ways do you believe that the gospel does not apply to this particular individual?
  3. Is it necessary for you to concentrate on becoming more like Me rather than on attempting to alter this other person?″ It’s the kind of thing that happens.
  4. Isn’t it a little irritating?
  5. However, this is extremely beneficial to us.
  • We may react to Jesus’ revelations because he is patient and reveals things to us when and in the manner that we need to hear them.
  • That is exactly what He proceeds to do with the woman in this scene.
  • But then He goes even further into the depths.
  1. Reveals the gross parts of us
  • 16 Then Jesus told her to go home and summon her husband, and then come here.
  • 17 ″I don’t have a spouse,″ the woman said to Him.
  • ″You are correct in claiming that you have no husband; 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one you are currently with is not your husband,″ Jesus said to her.
  • ″Everything you’ve mentioned is correct.″ 19 She approached Him and said, ″Sir, I have a strong impression that you are a prophet.″ Jesus is well aware of the difficulties that this woman is through.

he might just say to her, ″Lady, you are sexually immoral,″ and that would be the end of it.Everyone in town is well aware that you’ve been sleeping with a number of different men over the course of the previous few years. You’re currently involved in a sinful relationship with someone.

  • ″You must make some significant adjustments.″ That would’ve been overwhelming and most likely off-putting for most people.
  • It’s also important to note that He doesn’t think to Himself, ″I know she has a lot of sin issues, but I don’t want to offend her or have to go through the unpleasantness of having a difficult talk, so I’ll simply ignore it.″ Likewise, that would’ve been incorrect!
  • Instead, Jesus understands the need of presenting sin to a sinner in a loving manner in order to save him.

He gently encourages her to become aware of what is going on with her.His instructions are for her to bring her husband to the well, which provides her with an opportunity to confess what has been going on with her.He unveils the most heinous aspects of her depravity, but He also demonstrates that this is not enough to cause Him to abandon her, as He remains to continue speaking with her. When we have a genuine contact with Jesus, He will do the same thing with us as well!

Sometimes we don’t want our sin pointed out to us, and this can even make us resentful of God’s invitation to come and worship with Him on occasion. But we must remember that He is loving and patient, and that He does not bring out our sins without also being present to assist us in overcoming them and changing our ways of thinking.

  1. Gets to the true heart of the issue
  • 20 ″Our forefathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that Jerusalem is the proper place for people to worship.″ 21 Jesus told her, ″Woman, trust me when I say that the hour is coming when you will no longer worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.″ 22 You worship what you do not understand, but we worship what we understand, for salvation comes from the Jews.
  • The hour has come, and it is now here, when real worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is looking for such people to worship Him in spirit and truth.
  • 24 God exists in the realm of spirit, and those who worship Him must do so in spirit and in truth.″ 25 ″I am aware that the Messiah is on his way,″ the lady informed Him (He who is called Christ).
  • All things will be revealed to us when He comes.

″ 26 ″I, who speak to you, am He,″ Jesus explained to her.In a similar vein to the preceding point, we now see that Jesus will always get to the heart of the matter, no matter what we’re dealing with at the time. She now understands that He is a prophet and that He has disclosed her wrongdoing to her.

  • He is aware of things that he could not have known by normal methods.
  • As a result, because He is a prophet, she brings up a topic that has been plaguing her for quite some time.
  • Just as we indicated at the outset, the Samaritans had their own temple on Mount Gerizim, whilst the Jews had their own temple on Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

Because she is aware that he is a Jew, she is aware that he believes Jerusalem is the proper site of worship. As a result, she appeals to Him to resolve the conflict between her people’s tradition and His teachings. But what He reveals to her is that the core of this worship concern is not necessarily the history and customs of these two people groups, but rather the present and future of humanity. This is the crux of the matter: those who worship God must do so in spirit and truth, and the Messiah has come to usher in a new era.

It is very easy for us to become distracted by non-essential issues and overlook the truly important ones.Occasionally, we want to dispute over whether traditional or current music should be used in a worship session at church, but we aren’t concentrating on genuinely praising Jesus with our hearts and our actions. When we have a genuine contact with Jesus, we can be confident that He will get to the heart of the matter, no matter what we do to attempt to divert our attention away from the situation.

  1. Sends us out to tell others about Him
  • 27 It was at that moment that His disciples returned.
  • They were amazed that He was conversing with a woman, but no one asked, ″What are you looking for?″ Alternatively, ″What are you talking about with her?″ In response, the woman put her water jar down and went into town, telling people, 29 ″Come see a man who told me everything that I ever did.
  • ″Does this look like the Christ?″ 30 They had left the town and were on their way to see Him.
  • Meanwhile, His disciples were pressing Him to eat by yelling, ″Rabbi, eat.″ 32 But He told them, ″I have food to eat that you aren’t aware of,″ and they were surprised.

Consequently, the disciples inquired among themselves, ″Has anyone brought Him something to eat?″ 34 ″My food is to execute the will of Him who sent Me and to carry out His job,″ Jesus said to the disciples.35 Do you not say things like, ″There are still four months until the harvest,″ or ″There are still four months until the harvest?″ Look, I tell you, raise your eyes to the sky and you will see that the fields are white and ready for harvest.36 Already, the one who reaps is collecting pay and gathering fruit for eternal life, allowing the sower and reaper to share in the joy of the harvest.

  • 35 Moreover, the proverb ″One sows, and another reaps″ holds true in this case.
  • I sent you to reap what you had not worked for, and you did it well.
  • It has taken others to labor, and you have joined them in their toil.″ 39 Because of the woman’s testimony, which read, ″He told me everything I ever did,″ many Samaritans from that town came to believe in Him.

40 Consequently, when the Samaritans arrived at His door, they invited Him to stay with them for two days.41 And as a result of His word, many more people came to believe.42 They told the woman, ″It is no longer because of what you said that we believe; we have heard for ourselves, and we are convinced that this is, in fact, the Savior of the whole world.″ This is the section of the story that I enjoy the most.Jesus has shown to be an unexpected figure in her life, revealing the sin she battles with and showing genuine concern for the root of her problems.

She’s been awestruck by Him and believes Him when He claims to be the Messiah, according to her.Now His followers return, shocked to discover Jesus conversing with a strange Samaritan lady, and she takes advantage of the situation to flee with her life.In her absence, Jesus uses the opportunity to tell His disciples that there are a large number of individuals out there who are waiting to be harvested for salvation. They had no idea that they are going to see a real-life demonstration of how this is true!

  1. As soon as she returns to town, the woman spreads the news to each and everyone she can find that she has met the Messiah.
  2. Consider the following scenario: the lady who was only a few hours earlier walking to the well in the middle of the day to avoid seeing people returns to town and begins swarming about, gathering as many people as she can possibly locate.
  3. What a difference!
  4. It is she who convinces them that He knows everything about her, that He is a prophet, and that her enthusiasm for Him inspires them to want to meet Him for themselves.
  5. They believed her because of her testimony about Him, but when they met Him, they were much more convinced.
  • As a result, I believe that the most crucial thing we should remember about a genuine experience with Jesus is this.
  • It’s impossible for us to keep our feelings about God to ourselves when we truly know Him and He has done all of the work in our hearts.
  • Our hearts should be moved by what He has shown us and by the love He has placed in our hearts to assist other people in meeting Him and being transformed by Him.
  • When we have a genuine contact with Jesus, we are compelled to tell others about Him.
  • So, what’s your side of the story?
  • What was your first encounter with Jesus like?
  • What has He done to alter you?
  • Who do you want to inform of your decision?

Put yourself in the position of the well woman and get out there and tell everyone about it!Image

What Happens When You Encounter Jesus?

  • John recounts his encounter with Jesus in 1Jn 1:1-3, in which he expresses gratitude to Jesus. The testimony of John is straightforward. Jesus is not a figment of our imagination – ‘we saw Him’. He is not a fiction of our mind, as we discovered when we ‘felt Him.’ He is not a fairy tale character – ‘we heard about Him’, as the saying goes. In the event that you believe in Him, your testimony may be similar to John’s. You can see Him if you have faith. You can reach out and touch Him if you have faith. You can hear Him if you have trust. You may come face to face with Him if you have trust. 3 John 17:3 (ESV) 3 John 17:3 (ESV) 3 And this is eternal life: that they come to know you as the one and only true God, as well as Jesus Christ, whom you have sent as their Savior. This same phrase appears in the verse above. God’s knowledge, according to John, is the source of eternal life.
  • Eternal life is not the same as a long life
  • If eternal life consisted solely in the length of one’s life, then the sinner possesses it.
  • They will live eternally
  • they will merely do it in a different environment than Christians.
  • Eternal life is not about the length of one’s life, but about the quality of one’s life
  • Knowing Him, continually encountering Him, and continually experiencing His presence, according to John, is the source of everlasting life.
  • Encountering Him means coming face to face with Him
  • it means coming into contact with Him
  • it means He crossed your path, He bumped into you during the course of your day
  • it means meeting Him in person.
  • His presence is a longing in the heart of every human being
  • God showing up in your living room is something everyone wants – and you want God to show up in your workplace as well. You certainly want God to show up in your church..
  • Having a personal encounter with Jesus is like experiencing ″days of heaven on earth.″

Why Children of God Need An Encounter

  • We have the ability to come into contact with God’s Presence.
  • Have you ever gone to the place?
  • Have you had any experience with His presence in your life?
  • Experiencing His tangible presence prepares us for our future as glorified sons and daughters of God.
  • There is nothing in heaven that compares to the experience of His presence we have here on earth — only it is much, much, much larger
  • Because of this, his presence in heaven is unimpeded.
  • There is no flesh in heaven that can stand in the way of His presence
  • Take heed of what the Bible says: ″Flesh and blood shall not inherit the kingdom of God″ (1Cor. 15:50).
  • There is no adversary in heaven – there are no devils, demons, or evil spirits to contend with
  • there are no devils, demons, or evil spirits to contend with
  • and there are no devils, demons, or evil spirits to contend with.
  • In heaven, there is no unbelief
  • there is no unforgiveness
  • there is no lack of unity
  • there is no lack of reverence in heaven.
  • Just a few examples of the things that obstruct His manifest presence are listed below.
  • The absence of these things on earth would result in the manifestation of His presence at all times.

What is the Difference Between Omnipresence and Manifest Presence

  • God’s omnipresence indicates that he is present everywhere at the same time. God, on the other hand, does not appear to be everywhere at the same time. Does it make any sense to you what the difference is? Is it clear to you that a bank is being robbed somewhere in the world right now at this very now – God is there at the bank – but He is not manifest
  • if God were evident, they would not be robbing the bank – they would be worshipping Him instead
  • A lot of people struggle with this and are sometimes enraged with God because something bad has occurred to them – perhaps they were sexually or physically abused as children, and they wonder ‘where were you God when all this was happening to me?’ or ‘How come you didn’t protect me?’
  • This is a part of the solution in this case. God was present, but He was not shown in the way we expected. As a result, the adversary was obvious
  • if God’s presence is manifest, evil will be unable to remain since the two will simply not mix.
  • In fact, when God’s presence is manifested in a specific location, the testimonies indicate that the bars close, the strip joints close, and sin shuts down, sometimes in an entire city
  • Finney’s revivals were well-known for this
  • and when God’s presence is manifested in a general location, the testimonies indicate that the bars close, the strip joints close, and sin shuts down, sometimes in an entire city
  • Similar events occurred throughout Paul’s mission
  • in Macedonia, Paul threw the devil out of a soothsaying woman, which had an adverse effect on the money flow her managers were enjoying at her cost as a result of his actions. When God’s presence was seen in this situation, evil was rendered ineffective. Acts 16:16-19 contains the relevant information.
  • In Ephesus, a revival erupted, and sales at the Temple of Diana suffered as a result. That is why they dragged Paul into the theater in the first place. It is possible to read about that revival again in Acts 19:24-27.
  • When we talk about experiencing Him, we are not referring to a single meeting or encountering Him for the first time.
  • If you go to some churches, you’ll be surprised at how little Jesus expresses or appears.
  • I think you’d be surprised at how little Jesus is tolerated in certain households throughout the world. I’m not referring to sinners’ houses here. Specifically, I’m referring to believers’ houses.
  • ILLUSTRATION: A few weeks ago, I was paying a visit to a relative’s house. In this home, as I was walking from the kitchen to the living room, I heard the voice of the Holy Spirit say in my spirit, ″I want you to worship me right now because there is no one else in this house who worships me.″ This relative was a devout Christian
  • QUESTION: Do you have a place of worship for Him in your home?
  • It is my promise that you will have experiences with Jesus in your house if you follow my instructions.
  • His presence expresses itself as you worship Him, as you profess your love for Him, and as you express how much you value Him in your life.
  • People struggle to persuade God to move in their lives
  • this is understandable.
  • In reality, getting God to move should be a non-issue in the first place. God is always in motion
  • there is no stopping him.
  • The Spirit of God is first seen moving on the surface of the waters in the Genesis account, which is the first time we are introduced to Him. You don’t have to persuade Him to move, and you don’t have to persuade Him to have an encounter with you. He will come to you on his own. He has shown an interest in paying you a visit. He desires to spend quality time with you. He wants to demonstrate to you how He manages the cosmos. He, on the other hand, only arrives when He is invited.

The Heart of Man Craves Encounter

  • You are aware that you have a strong desire to meet Jesus
  • you have entertained the notion of seeing Jesus in heaven and fantasizing about what it might be like. Running to Jesus and holding Him and falling down in praise is something you’ve considered
  • the concept is in your head. We adore Him and long to have a personal contact with Him.

The Word is Not All You Need

  • People believe that the Word of God is all that you need in life. They attempt to imply that we do not require His presence or to witness demonstrations of His power
  • however, the Word is not sufficient
  • you require His Word AND you require His Spirit. You require His Presence
  • however, what you require is a delicate balance between the two.
  • Moses expressed his feelings on this subject in the most direct manner possible
  • God gave Moses the law on two tables of stone. He spoke to Moses and gave him THE WORD! (Exodus 20) Moses was not content with only two stone tables. He wanted more! He desired more
  • Moses had the Word
  • he went up to the Holy Mount to receive it directly from God
  • he desired more.
  • However, this conversation between Moses and God occurs 13 chapters later in the book of Exodus.
  • Exodus 33:13–19 (Exodus 33:13–19) (ESV) 13 Now, if I have gained favor in your eyes, kindly teach me your methods so that I may get acquainted with you and thereby gain favor in your eyes. Remember, too, that this nation is comprised of your people.″ 14 After that, he said, ″My presence will accompany you, and I will provide you with rest.″ 15 And he told him, ″If your presence would not accompany me, please do not transport us from here.″ 16 After all, how will it be known that I, as well as your people, have found favor in your presence? Is it not in your best interests to accompany us so that we, I and your people, are distinguished from every other people on the face of the earth?″ 17 ″This precise thing that you have stated will be carried out,″ the LORD told Moses, ″for you have earned favor in my sight, and I recognize you by name.″ Then Moses pleaded with the Lord, ″Please show me your splendor.″ Afterwards, he said, ″I will bring all of my kindness before you, and I will declare before you my name, ‘The LORD.’″ In the same way, I will be gracious to those whom I will be gracious to, and will show mercy to those whom I shall show mercy. Take note of the way this section develops. Moses requests that God demonstrate his ways
  • nevertheless, take note of how God replies to this. ″My presence shall go with you and I shall give you rest,″ he responds
  • His ways can be discerned by His presence
  • and you can learn a great deal about Jesus by studying the Bible. The truth is, there are some aspects of Jesus’ life that will never be revealed to you via your studies. The fact that some things can only be learnt in His Throne Room, in His Presence, doesn’t imply that they aren’t found in the Word. It’s possible that it’s in the Bible, but you’re not aware of it yet. It may be a revelation to you
  • there are things that you can learn in His Presence that are not particularly stated in the Word
  • they may just be generally referred there
  • and there are things that you can learn in His Presence that are not specifically specified in the Word
  • ‘Worship me right now since there is no one else in this home who worships me,’ the Lord said to me, as an example. That was a revelation to me
  • I had no idea that the Lord was watching over things like that. You need His Word and you need His Presence
  • that is what is in the heart of man, and that is what is in your heart
  • to hear the Word of the living God AND to experience the Word of the living God are two different things. There is general teaching about worship, but there is no specific statement said in that way.

When You Encounter Jesus, You Encounter His Glory

  • As soon as the Bible talks of God’s apparent presence, it is referring to components that are tied to His splendor
  • when you experience God, you are also encountering His glory. When people came face to face with Jesus, they were greeted with the glory
  • recognize that this is no different today than it was then. Jesus ministered in His earthly attire at that time. He is the same Jesus He was then and He is the same Jesus He is now. He simply wears a different suit today – a glorified suit – and that is all.

The ESV version of John 2:11 reads: 11 This was the first of Jesus’ signs, which he performed in Cana in Galilee, and it revealed his majesty. And he had the confidence of his followers. Studying the subject of the glory in your Bible will aid you in your quest to come face to face with the Almighty.

Characteristics of the Glory

  • Words that are used in conjunction with the splendor of God in the scriptures
  • Clouds, lightning, thundering, smoke, fire, light, brightness, darkness, and wind are all examples of atmospheric phenomena.

God Encounters Israel: What Happened at Sinai

  • Exodus 19:10–11, 16–19, and 20–21 (ESV) ″Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments 11 and be ready for the third day,″ the LORD instructed Moses. Because on the third day, the LORD will descend from Mount Sinai in the presence of the entire congregation. 16 At dawn on the third day, there were thunder and lightning, a heavy cloud overhanging the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blow, causing everyone in the camp to shake with fear and fearlessness. 17 Then Moses led the people out of the camp to the foot of the mountain, where they took their positions at the foot of the mountain to worship God. 18 Mount Sinai was now enveloped in smoke, owing to the fact that the LORD had fallen upon it in fire. The smoke from it rose up like the smoke from a kiln, and the entire mountain shuddered violently in response. 19 And as the sound of the trumpet got louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God responded by sending down thunderous rain. Throughout history, God’s heart goal has been to dwell with His people – to experience them – to hang out with them
  • one of the darkest days of God’s existence, if we may put it that way, was when He was forced to drive man out of the garden of Eden. The Bible states that Adam walked with God in the cool of the day, which indicates that it was a particularly awful day for Him. This man had a deep and abiding relationship with God
  • the Hebrew word for ‘cool’ is râvach, (raw-vakh’), which can be translated as ‘wind’
  • God walked alongside Adam in the wind of God
  • Does this sound familiar to you?
  • Acts 2:1–4 is a short story about a group of people who decided to go on a camping trip (ESV) The disciples were all in one place on the day of Pentecost, when the day finally arrived. Then there was a sound like a mighty rushing wind from heaven, which filled the entire house where they were sitting, and it filled the entire world. Moreover, they were visited by separate tongues of fire, which rested on each of them individually. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and as the Spirit gave them voice, they started to talk in different tongues as a result. What do you think God’s motivation was for putting on such a grand public spectacle at Mount Sinai?
  • What about the Feast of the Transfiguration?
  • So what was the reason for such a spectacular demonstration in the Upper Room? What is the point of filling the space with wind? What is the purpose of cloven tongues of fire? Why not simply line them all up, lay hands on them, and let them to receive the Holy Spirit in this manner? What is the purpose of these eye-catching displays?
  • These exhibitions are not about God displaying himself, but rather about God appearing
  • when Jesus appears, people change. Things take place

Jesus Encounters Saul

  • Jesus can reach the toughest cases
  • Acts 22:6–11 is an example of a parable (KJV) It happened that while I was making my way towards Damascus, at midday, a tremendous light blazed from heaven all around me. I had no idea what had happened until then. I dropped to the ground and heard a voice say to me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? I fell to the ground again. 8 To which I responded, ″Who art thou, Lord?″ It was at that point that he revealed himself to me as Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting. 9 And those who were with me did indeed see the light and were terrified, but they did not hear the voice of the one who spoke to me in that light. 10 And I asked the Lord, ″What do you want me to do?″ I arose and proceeded to Damascus, where the Lord informed me, ″Arise, and go into Damascus
  • there it will be told thee of all things which are ordained for thee to perform.″ 11 Then, when I could no longer see because of the splendour of that light, I was taken into Damascus by the hand of those who had been with me all along. Paul was the one who had the least chance of being saved. He was a well-educated man. He was a devout Christian
  • but, the splendor of Jesus, wrapped around his face, transformed him.
  • Although some people may not experience transformation in any other manner than via this outwardly conspicuous exhibition, even the most difficult instances are not beyond His reach. Witnessing, in the traditional sense, did not engage Paul’s attention or imagination. Paul was not arrested because of the affection he received from others. What was it that apprehended Paul? He was captured by the glory! The radiance that radiated from Jesus’ face crushed him to the ground.

Call to Action:

  • If God can transform even the most difficult situation, then He can most likely transform your life.
  • Make a mental note of this since you may find yourself looking in the mirror and not liking what you see.
  • Some habits, some problems, some tendencies, and some thought patterns are unavoidable in our lives.
  • You yearn to be transformed.

You yearn to stand out from the crowd. If you merely seek and encounter Jesus, He has the ability to transform anything about you, even your personality.Question: How has your life been transformed as a result of your contact with Jesus?

2 Things that Happen after an Encounter with Jesus: A homily for the Second Sunday of Lent (B)

  • Today’s message is about the power of having a personal encounter with Jesus.
  • When Peter, James, and John come face to face with Jesus, he alters their lives.
  • As a result of this contact with Jesus, two significant events occur.
  • First and foremost, they began to recognize Jesus everywhere they went.

Second, they began to hear the voice of Jesus everywhere they went. When it comes to our meetings with Jesus, the situation is the same!Meetings with Jesus can take place through our bible readings, spiritual retreats or conferences, meals with friends or family, time spent in nature, the administration of the sacraments, and a wide range of other activities.

  • Once we have them, we should SEE JESUS EVERYWHERE and LISTEN TO JESUS EVERYWHERE, just as we would if we had them.
  1. When we come face to face with Jesus, we see that he is everywhere. As recorded in our Gospel, Peter James and John were left with nothing but Jesus alone after experiencing this amazing experience. They could only see Jesus
  2. Mother Teresa served in India among the poorest and sickest of the country’s citizens. Someone once asked her, ″How do you do it?″ she replied. Those folks are vile, and they are bleeding profusely. They have sores and wounds on their bodies. ″Is that the way they are?″ Mother Teresa inquired. No, I didn’t realize they were that that.″ She only saw Jesus
  3. there is a woman who has a baby boy, and she shared with me how much she enjoys just sitting and watching him nap. ″I see Jesus,″ she said.
  4. Here’s a beautiful poem by Joseph Plunkett that you should read. I CAN SEE his blood splattered on the rose. And the splendor of his eyes can be seen in the stars, his body gleams in the midst of endless snows, and his tears fall from the sky. Every flower has his face on it, and 5 The sound of thunder combined with the song of the birds Are nothing more than his voice—and carved by his might His written words are represented by rocks. All paths have been worn by his feet, and his powerful heart beats against the ever-beating sea. 10 Every thorn is entwined with his crown of thorns, and every tree is entwined with his crucifixion.
  5. When we come face to face with Jesus, we see that he is everywhere. And that has a profound impact on our lives! a

Another thing that happens when we have a personal encounter with Jesus is that we begin to hear Jesus’ voice everywhere. ″This is my beloved son,″ the Father in heaven declares to Peter, James, and John, who are present. ″Pay attention to what he has to say.″

  1. We hear the voice of Jesus. Jesus is mentioned many times in the Bible. In prayer groups, we may hear him speaking. In our homes, we can hear him talking. In the melodies of the birds, we may hear him speaking to us. He may be heard in the laughing of complete strangers. When the needy cry out for aid, when those in need come forward, we hear Jesus
  2. we hear Jesus in the sacraments, notably the Holy Mass and confession. Adoration. He talks in the midst of quiet. We are surrounded with devotion. This Friday, there will be a mass.
  • Folks, we need to see and hear Jesus everywhere we go in order to be effective.
  • Is it possible to love someone if we are unable to see him and listen to him?
  • That is precisely what we must do.
  • Love.

In the first reading, Abraham expresses his willingness to give God everything, including his own son.He is about to lift up the ax when God says, ″Don’t you dare,″ as if he were crazy. Is our love, on the other hand, that great?

  • At the end of the day, we will be judged on the basi
