What Does Jesus Say About The World

46 Bible Verses about the World

  • Do not be in love with the world or anything that exists in it. If anybody loves the world, they do not have love for the Father in their hearts. Refrain from conforming to the pattern of this world, but rather allow yourself to be changed by the renewing of your mind. Once you have done this, you will be able to test and approve God’s will, which is God’s good, acceptable, and perfect will. What good is it for someone to have the whole world but lose their soul? I have told you these things in order for you to be at peace with yourself and with others. You will encounter difficulties in this planet. But don’t lose heart! I have triumphed over the world because the grace of God has arrived, which provides salvation to everyone who believe. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age
  • For, though we live in the world, we do not wage war in the same way that the world does
  • And, although we live in the world, we do not wage war in the same way that the world does. The world and its passions will pass away, but whoever fulfills God’s will will live for all eternity
  • What are you thinking, you adulterous people? Don’t you realize that friendship with the world equals hostility with God? As a result, everyone who chooses to be a friend of the world automatically becomes an enemy of God
  • Because we did not bring anything into the world, and we can do nothing to take it away. He told them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
  • For everyone born of God overcomes the world. But if we only have food and clothing, we will be content. For everything in the world—including the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father, but from the world. This is the victory that has triumphed over the entire universe, including our faith
  • Make no mistake about it: you are not fooling yourself. If any of you believe you are wise according to the standards of this era, you should pretend to be “fools” in order to learn to be intelligent. I leave you in peace, and I give you my peace in return. I do not give to you in the same way that the rest of the world does. Do not let your hearts to be worried, and do not allow yourself to be scared
  • What good will it do for someone to obtain the entire globe but yet losing their soul, you might wonder. Or, rather, what can someone provide in return for their soul? When Jesus spoke to the crowds for the second time, he said, “I am the light of the world.” “Anyone who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will always have the light of life in their hearts.” It was God who picked the humble things of this world and the despised things—as well as the things that aren’t—in order to invalidate the things that are, so that no one may take pride in themselves in front of him. Consider how much love the Father has poured on us, as evidenced by the fact that we are now referred to as God’s children! That is exactly what we are! The fact that the world is unfamiliar with us is due to the fact that it was unfamiliar with him. Who or what is it that conquer the universe? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God are eligible to vote. Because God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen and understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse
  • Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in his heavenly banquet. The only thing I ask is that you keep them safe from the bad one, not that you remove them out of the world. How plentiful are the excellent things that you have saved up for people who are afraid of you, that you give in the presence of everyone, on those who seek shelter in you
  • And

In other words, Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for our sins, but for all of the sins of the entire universe.

Bible verse of the day

The L ord hears the cries of the righteous, and he rescues them from all of their worries and tribulations. He is near to people who are brokenhearted and rescues those who are crushed in spirit.

What Does the Bible Say about the World?

The “world” has gotten under my skin more this year than at any point in my memory. I’ve heard more people murmur, whine, and gripe about it than at any previous time. So, what is it that they are murmuring about?

What the World Is and Is Not

Oldsmobile is the brand of my sporty red 2003 Alero, however Oldsmobile is not the brand of my Alero. In a similar vein, the “world” encompasses the planet, yet the earth is not the same as the “world.” The Lord God Almighty is the one who created the planet. He is ever-present and is constantly on the lookout for it (2 Chronicles 16:9). No one or nothing catches Him off guard. Satan is in charge of the “world.” People who aren’t actively following Jesus Christ yet, including men and women, teenagers, and children, are subjected to systematic direction by the “world.” God’s people on earth who are seeking Him and obeying His Word are in the midst of the “world,” yet they are not a part of the system.

  1. Many people will become aware of the Lord’s presence and grandeur as time progresses (Habakkuk 2:14).
  2. After a long period of time, the Lord will judge the world (Obadiah 1:15) and establish his reign over all of the planet (Zechariah 14:9).
  3. Then He will present His disciples with the new heavens and the new earth, which they will be able to enjoy for all of eternity (Revelation 21:1).
  4. The Bible says that instead, “God loved the world so much that he sent his only Son” (John 3:16, NLT).
  5. Jesus Christ, after His resurrection, instructed His followers to “inform people about me everywhere – in Jerusalem, across Judea, throughout Samaria, and to the farthest reaches of the globe” (Acts 1:8, NLT).
  6. According to the Apostles Peter and John, “There is no redemption in anybody other than Christ!” In all of heaven, there is no other name that people may call upon in order to be saved” (Acts 4:12, NLT).
  7. Is this excellent news exclusively for the “lovely” people in the world?

Quite the reverse, in fact.

Jesus Christ’s active followers strive to “live pure, innocent lives as God’s children in a dark world,” as the Bible says (Philippians 2:15, NLT).

«Set your eyes on the reality of paradise, for you have been resurrected to new life in Christ» (Colossians 3:1, NLT).

“Dedicate your life to Christ as Lord of your life.

Why should we oppose the global system and everything it represents?

(James 4:4, New Living Translation) As a result, “stop enjoying this horrible world and everything it has to give you” (1 John 2:15, NLT). It’s important to remember that “the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the Spirit who lives in the world” (1 John 4:4, NLT).

Biblical Examples to Heed Regarding the World

I live a blameless life, just as Noah did, even if I am the only one who does so in my family (Genesis 6;Genesis 9). I want to be able to bask in God’s unfailing presence and blessing, just like Joseph did, no matter how much the world tries to injure me (Genesis 39;Genesis 50). My plea is similar to that of Abigail: for other Christians to continue to avoid bad choices and to live godly lives (1 Samuel 25). Because I believe God is in control, I behave bravely even when I am terrified, just like Esther did (Esther 4).

I act in the same manner as the Good Samaritan, showing kindness to individuals from all walks of life (Luke 10:29-37).

In contrast to Pilate, I am a firm believer in God’s truth (John 18:28-40;John 19:1-22).

Biblical Truths to Affirm about the World

I think that God created the universe (Genesis 1:1;Genesis 14:19-22;Exodus 20:11;2 Kings 19:15;1 Chronicles 16:26;Nehemiah 9:6;Psalm 33:6-9;Psalm 104:24;Psalm 121:1-2;Psalm 146:5-7;Isaiah 42:5;Isaiah 45:12;Jeremiah 27:4-5;Jeremiah 32:17;Jonah 1:9;Acts 14:15;Colossians 1:15-16;Revelation 14:7). I feel that sin has caused widespread devastation throughout the planet (Genesis 3:16-17;Genesis 6:5-7;Romans 5:12;Galatians 5:19-21). I think Satan is presently the ruler of this planet, and that he will continue to remain so (Matthew 4:8;2 Corinthians 4:4;Ephesians 2:2;1 John 5:19;Revelation 12:9).

I think that the people of this world are enslaved by sin and are doomed until they come to faith in Jesus Christ (John 1:29;John 8:34-36;Romans 5:15-17;Romans 6:6-7;Romans 6:23;Romans 7:24-25;Galatians 3:22).

Christians, in my opinion, will assist the Lord in judging the world and celestial creatures (Luke 22:30;1 Corinthians 6:2-3;Revelation 20:4).

Biblical Commands to Obey Regarding the World

I give thanks to God, who created the heavens and the earth – in fact, the entire universe (Genesis 1:1;Exodus 20:11;2 Kings 19:15;1 Chronicles 16:26;Nehemiah 9:6;Psalm 33:6-9;Psalm 104:24;Psalm 121:1-2;Psalm 146:5-7;Isaiah 42:5;Isaiah 45:12;Jeremiah 27:4-5;Jeremiah 32:17;Jonah 1:9;Acts 14:15;Colossians 1:15-16;Revelation 14:7). I have no affection for the goods of this world, which are at most ephemeral (Psalm 119:36;Ecclesiastes 5:10-11;Matthew 6:24;Mark 10:21-22;John 12:25;1 Timothy 6:10;Hebrews 13:5;James 2:5;1 John 2:15).

(Psalm 96:2-3;Matthew 28:19;Mark 16:15;Acts 1:8;Romans 10:14-15;Revelation 14:6).

What Does The Bible Say About Living in the World? A Bible Study on Worldliness

All of us may be divided into two categories of individuals. Either we are living for ourselves and our own wants in the world, or we are dying to ourselves and the weakness of our flesh by the power of the Holy Spirit and the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. The Bible is replete with passages and portions that speak to the subject of life in the modern world. Despite the fact that we all live in the world, Jesus invites us to be distinct from the rest of humanity. Examine some of the truths in the Word regarding how to live in this world.

What Does Worldliness Look Like?

As stated in 1 John 2:16-17, “For all that is in the world – fleshly cravings, eye desires, and pride of life – is not from the Father, but is from the world.” This includes the desires of the flesh, eye desires, and life pride. Also, while the world is fading away along with its ambitions, those who do what is right in the eyes of God will live eternally.” In its simplest form, worldliness is just focusing your attention on yourself and your pleasures of the body that you seek. Temptation to engage in sexual activity abounds, and it is simple for someone who is weak to want their wants realized.

  1. What about one’s material belongings?
  2. Are you a single person with no children, yet you drive a Hummer or an SUV with third-row seats?
  3. It’s possible that I’m mistaken.
  4. However, if all you care about is looking cool, you are just concerned with your own ambitions.

The Believer’s Responsibility

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be converted by the renewing of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” According to Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be changed by the regeneration of your mind.” If you believe in Christ, you are aware that following Jesus is a lifelong path of discovery. You don’t become flawless overnight, or even over a period of time. You will make mistakes along the road, but the emphasis is on putting up the necessary effort to remodel your mind by thinking in a new way than you have previously.

Jesus encourages us to be selfless and to lend a helping hand to those in need.

And the second is similar to it: “You shall love your neighbor as you love yourself.” (Matthew 22:37-39; Mark 12:37-39) In order to cease being part of the world, you must sacrifice yourself in order to fulfill your own ambitions.

It is necessary to demonstrate affection to those around you and to assist others rather than to assist oneself. With each step you take toward putting your own fleshly cravings to death, you will find yourself more and more motivated to help others and to offer them love.

You Can’t Be Both People

This is the problem: you can’t be of the world and still being a believer in the same time. Naturally, as a believer, you will have possessions of this world, but they will not be your primary objectives. In other words, you won’t be thinking to yourself things like “I have to have that new Camaro” or “A vast house will make me very happy.” Not goods, but people, are the sources of our ultimate happiness. Only actual delight in Jesus can bring you true happiness in your life. You may put yourself through a test by asking yourself, “Do I constantly desire more?” “Does the model from last year’s show no longer hold up?” Is it necessary to have the most recent version of everything?

If your treasure is found in your things or in your professional standing, you are considered to be living in the world.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal.” After all, “where your fortune is, there is also where your heart will be.” (6:19-21; Matthew 6:19-23).

Conclusion

Do you remember the song “Cat’s In The Cradle” by the Eagles? The message conveyed by such song is quite strong! Growing up, the father was absent from his son’s life since he was preoccupied with himself. He missed out on one of life’s greatest pleasures: the opportunity to be a father. After retirement, the father want to spend more time with his son, but his kid turned out to be just like his father, pursuing his own interests while ignoring his father. What kind of treasure are you accumulating?

  1. A day will come when you will die, and all of your worldly belongings will be worthless in comparison to your memories.
  2. There is no better moment than right now to make a change!
  3. Something more that might pique your interest: Should Christians have friends who are not Christians?
  4. Permission has been granted to use.

What is This World Coming To? Exactly What Jesus Said it Would

“What is this world coming to?” I hear someone exclaim, despairingly, every now and again.

This type of statement is typically made in reaction to a doomsday report of some sort. You know the sort of person I’m talking about.

  • According to statistics, children nowadays are more sexualized than they have ever been, and 70 percent of children will have had sexual relations by the time they graduate from high school. According to a recent survey, 45 percent of Americans believe that God wants them to be happy more than anything else in their lives. According to a pew poll study, church attendance has dropped to its lowest level in twenty years. According to recent studies, the present presidential administration is the most anti-Christian administration in the contemporary history.

When we hear these types of stories and statistics, our first impulse may be to throw our hands up in despair, terror, or contempt, but this is not always the case. These days, we are astounded by the behavior of young people. Unbelievable the amounts of immorality that exist in campuses. I was taken aback by the lack of interest individuals had in spiritual matters. I was taken aback by the growth in sexual promiscuity in our society. Who knows what this world has come to! Remember the days when a guy could leave his car unlocked without having to worry about his audio being stolen?

What happened to the days when children truly listened to and respected their elders?

I’d venture to suggest that many conservative television shows, radio shows, blogs, and podcasts, as well as numerous conservative websites, promote the mentality of “what is this world coming to?” Speaking of moral deterioration, it is not uncommon for talk radio broadcasters to spend three hours bemoaning the state of the world’s morality.

The world is rapidly approaching the point at which Jesus said it would arrive, and this provides us with a great deal of hope.

A Godless World

The fundamental fact of the matter is that we live in a godless society. Without a doubt, I do not want to imply that there is no God or that the genuine and living God is not actively involved in our world. I’m referring to the fact that everyone’s inherent condition is one of depravity, godlessness, and evil. It has always been this way, and it will continue to be this way indefinitely. It is said in Genesis 6:5 that God looked down on the globe and was troubled by what he observed: “The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was vast on the earth, and that every purpose of man’s heart was only evil continuously.” God unleashed the great flood on the globe as a result of the sin of mankind.

  1. Doesn’t sound all that different from how things are today, do it?
  2. The Apostle Paul was walking about Athens when he became vividly aware that the city was absolutely suffocating with false gods.
  3. It was a city that was rife with idolatry.
  4. We shouldn’t be startled or taken aback by this.
  5. The evil that we see in the world is not a recent development.

It’s not as if things have suddenly spiraled out of control in the last fifty years, as some believe. Since the time when Cainkilled Abel, wickedness has been accepted as regular practice. So, what gives us reason to be optimistic? Hold on a minute. This is where I’m going.

It Get’s Worse

Not to sound pessimistic, but things are only going to get worse from here. Before Jesus arrives, evil and wickedness will continue to spread over the entire earth. And since lawlessness will be rampant, the affection of many will become chilly, according to Jesus, who was speaking of the end days. (See Matthew 24:12 for further information.) Lawlessness, wickedness, and godlessness are not going to diminish; on the contrary, they are going to grow in number. In fact, they’re going to rise to such an extent that many Christians will realize that their love for Christ has cooled down completely.

  • That is really severe, tremendous lawlessness on their part.
  • Not only is there little hope for improvement, but the situation is just likely to deteriorate more.
  • At some time, the “lawless one” will appear, and he will arrive in a position of authority, accompanied by deceptive signs and wonders.
  • In comparison to other people, the lawless one will promote and perpetuate immorality on an enormous and horrible scale.
  • But don’t give up and throw your hands in the air.

Don’t Despair

That the gospel of Jesus Christ will continue to save sinners is good news, regardless of how much wickedness there is in the world. Yes, evil is quite powerful, but Jesus is far more powerful than evil! Yes, Satan prowls around like a roaring lion, but Jesus is the great lion slayer who defeats Satan. “And I tell you, Peter, on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not be able to prevail against it,” Jesus assured him. “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18; Mark 12:18) Neither the most current Barna report, nor the most recent church growth study, nor the status of Hollywood seem to bother Jesus in the least.

Even while Jesus lamented the increase in criminal activity, he also promised that the gospel would be preached in all nations: It will be broadcast throughout the entire globe as a testament to all peoples, and then the end will come to an end.

2 Thessalonians 2:8 (Thessalonians 2:8) When Jesus arrives, he will completely demolish the one who has committed acts of lawlessness. Good-bye, you lawless one! King Jesus has come on the scene!

Don’t Lose Hope

Were we justified in being concerned about the rise of immorality in our schools, on television, and in politics? Sure. We should take a position for righteousness when the situation calls for it. And, of course, we should teach our children how to think biblically about the sin that they will almost surely come across in life. Those who are continuously offended, disgusted, disheartened, or scared, on the other hand, haven’t come to terms with the Bible’s bleak portrayal of the world, and they haven’t fully placed their faith in our coming, conquering, ruling king, Jesus Christ.

Yes, things are going to become worse.

What Did Jesus Mean by “The World”?

When Robert Law writes on the emotions of Jesus in his superb little bookThe Emotions of Jesus, he gives a fleeting reflection on how the Savior would have perceived the universe through the prism of innocent human experience. “Although it is only tangentially mentioned in the Gospels, this likewise belonged to the perfection of our Lord Jesus,” he adds. He was the only person who ever lived in such a wonderful world as he was, to whom “the brightness in the grass and beauty in the flower” continuously revealed the diviner mystery of a Heavenly Father’s generous love and care.” “There has never been another like him.” When the hymn “This Is My Father’s World” was written, no one could have sung the words more joyfully than the sinless Son of God incarnate, who could not help but be overwhelmed by the manifestation of God’s glory in the intricately created plants and trees; animals; fish; sunsets; oceans; seasons; minerals; gems; rocks; scents; food and drink; and minerals, gems, rocks; and food and drink.

  • On the other hand, there existed an other universe that Jesus saw at from the perspective of spotless humanity.
  • What is so mysterious about God becoming man is that “He was in the world, and through him the world was formed, and yet the world was unaware of him” (John 1:10).
  • As part of His mission to atone for the sins of His people and to defeat the wicked one, Jesus also came to conquer the world.
  • “I have stated these things to you so that you may have peace in me,” Jesus remarked to His followers once more as He brought the Upper Room Discourse(John 13–17) to an end.
  • But don’t lose heart; I have triumphed over the world” (John 16:33).
  • It goes without saying that, in order to properly comprehend the nature of Jesus’ triumph over the world, we must first come to an accurate understanding of His usage of the word “world” in these two passages from John’s gospel.
  • There is nothing essentially wicked about creation, even yet everything is exposed to futility as a result of man’s sin (Rom.

That Jesus was dissatisfied with the world that He had created with His Father and the Holy Spirit couldn’t possibly be the case.

During Jesus’ description of the world, the Apostle John clarified what Jesus had in mind when he said, “Do not love the world or its things.” If somebody loves the world, he does not have the love of the Father in him.

And the world, together with its passions, is passing away, but whoever fulfills God’s will will live forever” (1 John 2:15–17).

Awakening from his slumber, he set out to overcome the prince of the power of the air, (the (much) lesser ruler of this planet, and to destroy the awful consequences of the revolt into which the wicked one had led humanity.

When He was on the earth, however, how could He claim that the judgment of the world had already begun to take place?

The world was placed on trial by the death of Jesus Christ.

By dying on the cross, Jesus was stripping away the veneer of goodness that hides the world’s idolatry, vanity, stupidity (including the pursuit of self-righteousness), and lawlessness.

Eventually, the judgement, which was pronounced on the cross, will be made completely and publicly known.

During that time period, all of the world’s deception and hypocrisy, as well as all of its lying and evil, will be exposed and examined in the light of the Son of God’s just judgment.

In the first place, the believer must learn to live his or her Christian life in light of the new connection that he or she now has with the defeated world, which is a process that takes time.

“Far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world” (Gal.

The famed Scottish preacher William Still explained: “We prefer to think of the double crucifixion, as it is shown here, in terms of a dramatic production.” The world is on one side, and I am on the other, with the cross standing between us.

When viewed from my perspective, the world has been crossed out because, through my faith in Christ’s death, I have also died to the world; as a result, I and the world have come to an agreement on one thing and one thing only: that, as a result of Christ, we have equally and mutually no time for each other.

  • No matter how much the world persecutes, opposes, oppresses, ridicules, or derides them, Christ is their victorious King and Savior.
  • Even in all of its persecuting wickedness, the world is powerless to remove the believer from God’s love for him or her via the person of Jesus Christ.
  • “But take heart,” Jesus encourages, “because I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
  • This fallen world has been vanquished by Jesus, and a new heavens and a new earth have been established in which righteousness reigns.
  • The fact that God will purify this present world of all evil, pollution, and corruption as a result of what Christ has achieved on the cross does not rule out the possibility that God would create something new and righteously beautiful out of what was before old and corrupt.

Our next post will go deeper into the meaning of this dimension of the cross, so stay tuned.

  1. Tenth and eleventh chapters of Herman Hoeksema’s The Amazing Cross (Jenison, Mich.: Reformed Free Publishing Association, 2018)

What Does the Bible Say About the End of the World?

In 1 John 2:17, we are told that “the world and its desires are going away.” What exactly is this “world”? When and how will it be extinguished?

What is the “world” that will end?

Because the globe in question possesses ‘desires’ that are contrary to God’s will, it is clear that it is not the literal earth in which we live. Rather, it is the entire human race that has turned its back on God, declaring themselves his enemies. James 4:4 (James 4:4) This world’s inhabitants “shall be subjected to the judicial retribution of eternal destruction,” according to the Bible. 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 (New International Version) People who choose to live in “no portion of the world” in obedience to Jesus Christ, on the other hand, have the opportunity to experience everlasting life.

Moreover, the Bible’s 1 John 2:17 ends, “The one who does the will of God lives forever.” Yes, as stated in Psalm 37:29, one has the opportunity to experience everlasting life while still on this planet.

“If somebody loves the world, he does not have the love of the Father in him.” The Bible says in 1 John 2:15 that

How will the world end?

There will be two major stages to the conclusion. First and foremost, God will demolish organized false religion, which will be represented as a harlot titled “Babylon the Great.” (1 Thessalonians 4:1-5; 18:8) While proclaiming her allegiance to God, she has mingled with the world’s most powerful political figures. These very rulers, on the other hand, will turn against her. “They will despise the prostitute and leave her destitute and nude, and they will consume her flesh and utterly burn her with fire,” the author writes.

God will next shift his attention to the political leaders themselves, referring to them as “the kings of the entire inhabited earth.” In “the fight of the great day of God the Almighty,” also known as “Armageddon,” these will be annihilated, along with all evil people in general.

“Begin your search for Jehovah, all you mild ones of this earth.

On the day of Jehovah’s wrath, it is likely that you will be disguised.” — Zephaniah 2:3 (NIV).

When will the world end?

The end will come when mankind has received ample warning through a global announcement of God’s Kingdom — a world government that will replace human rulership — and has done everything it can to avoid it. (Daniel 7:13; Daniel 7:14) “This good news of the Kingdom will be proclaimed throughout all of the inhabited earth as a witness to all of the nations, and then the end will arrive,” Jesus Christ declared. “This is the end.” (Matthew 24:14; Mark 10:14) That preaching activity, which represents both God’s justice and mercy, is a component of a composite “sign” indicating the approaching end of the world’s civilization.

  1. — Matthew 24:3, Luke 21:10, and Luke 21:12.
  2. According to the text, “difficult times are on the horizon.” As a result, “men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money,.
  3. lacking in self-control, ferocious, devoid of compassion,.
  4. The current evil world will ‘fade away’ in the near future.
  5. Furthermore, since that year, God’s Kingdom has been declared in every corner of the world, and Jehovah’s Witnesses consider it a pleasure to be associated with such a monumental undertaking as this.

Even their major publication, The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah’s Kingdom, is named after Jehovah himself. “Keep an eye on the time, then, because you don’t know what day or what hour it is.” ― Matthew 25:13, NIV.
