What Did Jesus Promise His Disciples Before He Ascended Into Heaven

Ascension Day: The most hopeful promise for all of us!

The Gospel of Luke reports that Jesus had appeared to them “by numerous undeniable proofs, being seen by them throughout forty days, and spoke of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God,” after rising from the grave. According to Acts 1:3. For the disciples, seeing and hearing Jesus in His resurrected form would have been memorable experiences; they would have been unequivocal proof that He had utterly defeated sin, Satan, and death itself. Their hearts must have been bursting with joy and astonishment, just like the two disciples who walked with Him on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-32).

(See also John 20:19-29.) There was absolutely no doubt about it.

Everything He had foretold about himself turned out to be accurate.

Because the debt had been paid in full, Satan could no longer accuse anybody in front of God.

Ascension Day: Jesus returns to His Father in heaven

But, in order to do so, He had to first return to heaven and reclaim His rightful place at the right side of the Father, which he did. That occurred on the Mount of Olives, near Bethany, and was broadcast live. (See also Luke 24:50) That was a really beautiful open-air meeting. With the parting promise that He would not leave His disciples alone, but that He would be with them always, even to the end of the age, via the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, the Helper, the Teacher of Righteousness, He would be with them forever.

I believe that if we had been there on Ascension Day, we would have stood there in quiet farewell, our eyes fixed resolutely upward into the heavens.

“And they all joined together in prayer and petition, with the ladies and Mary, Jesus’ mother, as well as His brothers,” they said.

Acts 1:9-14 is a biblical passage. It was given to these 120 individuals to build the foundations of God’s temple on earth, which would be built from living stones who would follow Jesus on the path that He had prepared for us.

The temple is completed

Currently, God is laying the foundation stone for the structure, which is made up of disciples who are working together to construct a holy house in the Lord, with Jesus Christ Himself serving as the primary cornerstone. (1 Corinthians 2:14-22) (Ephesians 2:14-22) When this job is accomplished, the rapture, also known as our Ascension Day, will occur, during which the loyal disciples, who are also the first fruits to God and the Lamb, will be lifted up to meet Him in the clouds, will take place.

Zachariah 14:4-5; Revelation 19:11-21; Revelation 20:11-21 Yes, Ascension Day is a holiday that deserves to be celebrated.

Ascension Day, on the other hand, is just another day for many people, since the spirit of antichrist is attempting to replace religious celebrations with secular holidays, with the intention of changing the time (Daniel 7:25).

What were Jesus’ Last Words before he Ascended to Heaven?

The final thing Jesus said before ascending to the throne of glory was. In the Book of Acts, we may find these well-known closing phrases.

Waiting For The Promise

The Bible states that when Jesus was with them, he warned them that they should not leave Jerusalem, but should instead wait for the promise of the Father. This is the prelude to the Lord’s final words, which are recorded in (Acts 1:4). The promise that Jesus was alluding to was the one that was spoken of by the prophet Joel in the Old Testament, according to the Bible (Joel 2:28-32). It was the promise that believers would be baptized with the Holy Spirit on the Feast of Pentecost (also known as the Day of Pentecost) (Acts 2:1-4).

The Last Words Of Jesus on Earth

Jesus was approached by many present, who inquired whether the time had arrived for him to return the kingdom to Israel. It was at this point that Jesus gave his final words on earth before ascending to the heavenly realm. “It is not for you to know the times or dates that the Father has established by his own power,” he said to them. When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will acquire authority, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, as well as throughout the rest of Judea and Samaria, and to the furthest reaches of the world.

Jesus’ Ascension Into Heaven

After saying his final words, Jesus was carried up into a cloud while they were looking on, and they were no longer able to see him or hear him. As they gazed up into the sky, two white-robed men (angels) appeared beside them and embraced them. “What are you doing standing here staring up into the sky?” the angels inquired of them.

Go and Make Disciples: Remembering Jesus’ Ascension

Katie Hall worked as a communications coordinator at Bible Gateway for a number of years. Today is the Feast of the Ascension! Christians all across the globe are commemorating the culmination of Jesus’ earthly career today: his ascension to the right hand of the Father. Ascension Day is celebrated on the 40th day after Jesus’ resurrection. It was on this day that Jesus fulfilled his God-given mission, entrusting his disciples with a duty that Christians throughout the globe are now striving to accomplish: “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to every creature.” The ascension of Jesus, or his actual return to heaven, is briefly addressed in Luke 24 and Mark 16.

Before he was lifted up into heaven, Jesus gave instructions to the apostles he had selected, who were acting in the power of the Holy Spirit.

He appeared to them for a period of forty days, during which time he spoke to them about the kingdom of God.

“This is what you heard from me: John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit in only a few days,” he explained.

When Jesus was asked about the times and seasons, he said, “It is not for you to know the times and seasons that the Father has established by his own authority.” Instead, when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will gain authority, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the world.” After saying these words, while they were looking on, Jesus was taken up and enveloped in a cloud, and they were no longer able to see him.

While he was walking away and they were looking up at the sky, two guys in white robes appeared beside them and spoke to them.

“This Jesus, who was carried up from you into heaven, will return in the same manner in which you witnessed him ascend into heaven.” In Acts 1:11–11, the Bible says (CEB) Although Matthew’s narrative does not provide a description of Jesus’ ascension, it does include this remarkable last charge to his disciples: “I have been given full power in heaven and on earth,” Jesus said as he approached them.

Consequently, go into all the world and make disciples of all countries, baptizing them in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to follow all that I have instructed you to do.

Day of Jesus Ascension

1On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb,3but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?

1. Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” 8Then they remembered his words.
2. 10It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles.
3. 12Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb.

And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place.

They went to the tomb early this morning23but didn’t find his body.

24Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.” 25He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken!

28As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther.

30When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them.

32They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” 33They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem.

The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.” 35Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.

38He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?

It is I myself!

41And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42They gave him a piece of broiled fish,43and he took it and ate it in their presence.

48You are witnesses of these things.

51 While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. 52 Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. 53 And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.

The Disciple’s Promise: I Will Always Be With You

Before ascending to the Father, Jesus spoke His final words to His followers, which served as His final command. Take note of what He says in Matthew 28:18-20, which is referred to as the Great Commission. 18Jesus approached them and declared, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.” Consequently, go and make disciples of all countries, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and instructing them to obey all I have told you.20 Please keep in mind that I am with you at all times, till the end of time.

In order for His followers to carry out God’s purpose to convert the globe, Jesus promised them that He would be with them at all times.

Why?

Reason To Doubt

As we go through the entire chapter, this fact becomes more apparent. Take note of verses 16-17, which appear at the beginning of the passage: 16The eleven disciples set out for Galilee, where they were to find the mountain that Jesus had told them to. 17 When they first saw him, they worshipped him, but some were skeptical. (Matthew 28:16-17, Christian Standard Bible) When they saw Jesus, they worshipped him, but some of them were skeptical. The issue then becomes, what exactly did they have reason to doubt?

1. That is highly implausible because they had witnessed His post-resurrection appearances on several times.
2. I feel that the doubt they were experiencing was a form of self-doubt.
3. The soothing words of Jesus in verse 20 are very consoling in this situation.
4. He will be right there with us!

Two Assurances

The first confidence is seen in verse 18, when Jesus declares, “All authority has been delegated to me.” Jesus informed His followers that He has all authority and power. They were able to move on with confidence because they would be creating disciples under the authority and in the power of Christ. He would make sure they had all they needed to complete the objective. The second assurance is found at the conclusion of verse 20, which states, “I will be with you always.” Jesus reassured the disciples that He would always be with them.

He would not be far away; rather, He would be present and powerful among them in their time of need.

Good News

The good news for you and me is that Jesus will be with us as we go about our mission of making disciples. In the same manner that Jesus promised to his disciples, he now promises to us: “And remember, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” You and I may be confident in our ability to minister.

Why? Because Jesus has delegated His authority to us, and because He is with us, we can do everything!

What did Jesus promise to give his followers?

I wrote this for the iFace staff retreat in Chicago, which took place on May 26th-28th, 2015. Luke 24:44 (NIV) Afterwards, Jesus addressed them as follows: “These are my words that I uttered with your ears while I was still among you: that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets, and even in the Psalms, must be carried out.” 45 “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the grave, 47 and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all countries, beginning with Jerusalem,” he said.

48 You have all been witnesses to these events.

However, you must remain in the city until you have been clothed with divine might.” There are three very fundamental aspects of this text that we are all familiar with: Throughout this passage, we can see the core of the Gospel clearly stated–Christ suffered for our sins and died and rose again, just as had been predicted.

• The seeds of our faith, which were first sown in Israel and then disseminated across the world following His resurrection and ascension, are well known to us.
• We are a part of the “all nations” to whom the Gospel has been and continues to be preached throughout history.
• First and foremost, He opened their eyes to see and understand the Scriptures.
• They would have no trust and no prospect of success in their mission unless the Holy Spirit was present and working in their lives, as He was with Jesus at the time He delivered these words.
• For me, it is mind-boggling that the disciples walked with Jesus for three years and yet their minds remained blocked to the Old Testament Scriptures about the Suffering Servant until after His resurrection and appearance before the entire group of disciples.
• It is humbling to contemplate that I would have no knowledge of the Scriptures if it weren’t for God’s kindness to open my mind to receive it.
• It is also true that no matter how clearly and simply or fully I declare or expand upon the principles of the Gospel, no one with whom I share them will be able to comprehend what I am saying or expounding on.

Even Jesus, who was God in His own right, was unable to persuade the Rich Ruler to join Him only on the basis of His words in Luke 18.

However clearly I present the Gospel and my audience gains a grasp of everlasting life, their attachment to this earthly life and their desire for its fleeting joys may keep them from accepting God’s free gift of salvation in Christ.

Their own ego may also come in the way of receiving the gift, leading people to believe that the Gospel is simply too simple.

Anyone who understands the fundamental truths of the Gospel by the understanding God gives them, but who refuses to repent and believe in order to be saved, can be thwarted by a variety of cultural, religious, and personal causes.

“If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead,” Jesus says to Abraham in Luke 16:31 in response to the Rich Man’s request for Lazarus to be sent.

Only God has the ability to change another human being’s heart away from the things they believe this world has to offer and toward the simple way of grace–salvation by faith alone in Christ.

Those who followed Jesus were cringing in dread of what the religious or political authority might do to them because they were his disciples.

The resurrection of Jesus reaffirmed that they were correct to trust in Him and follow Him; yet, they now needed to see the Scriptures from a different viewpoint as a result of this.

His understanding, however, was that He would not be physically present to clear up their uncertainty whenever their reasoning became a bit muddled.

The Lord’s Prayer was followed by a teaching by Jesus in Luke 11:13: “If you therefore, who are bad, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Jesus exclaimed.

His death had made it very evident how fierce the resistance was going to be.

“Repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all countries, beginning with Jerusalem,” according to the passages from Luke 24 that were read aloud to me.

For them, it was the least safe place in which to proclaim salvation in Jesus’ name because they were the ones who were perceived as false prophets by the religious establishment and political powers who had allowed His execution, as a rebel leader at the very least and an instigator of riots at the very worst, according to the religious establishment.

1. (49) At a previous time, Jesus gave them the authority to heal sicknesses and cast out devils in His name, and they were ecstatic about it.
2. They should have waited until they started fulfilling the “all nations” portion of the mission before realizing how difficult it would be to overcome opposition.
3. To deal with such resistance, they would very certainly require divine intervention.
4. It seems likely that they would have been shot and killed if they had gone out to announce the message immediately.
5. But everything happened according to His plan, and they awaited His ascension with bated breath and a devout anticipation.

“However, when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will gain authority, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Father, Every morning as I sit down to read the Scriptures, I look forward to seeing how You will open my mind to comprehend what I am reading.

• As I began to comprehend my own salvation, I made significant changes in the way I lived my life and assigned importance to the events of my days.
• You have continued to deepen and widen my knowledge of Your plan for what my Cru director at the time, Mark Willis, referred to as “Total World Domination” as the years have progressed.
• Triumph was achieved on the cross, and for Christians, triumph will be realized completely at the Rapture and Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
• For the time being, we proclaim that “the old has passed away, and the new has arrived.” This is correct in terms of our individual identities.
• You, on the other hand, are outside of time and have already witnessed the New Heaven and the New Earth as reality.
• As a result, I can join you in proclaiming, “the new has come,” through the eyes of faith.

When I think about the mission to reach international students and visitors with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I am humbled by what a privilege it is to be a part of Your grand and glorious plan to bring people from all nations into Your beautiful, magnificent, Heavenly Kingdom–a reality in which there is only love, never hate, only joy, never sorrow, only health, never pain or disease, only peace, never war, only unity, never factions or division, only light, never darkness, only l, never l, only I want to be where You are, LORD, throughout all of eternity and beyond time, and I want to be with You.

Allow me to multiply my life so that I may bring as many people from all over the globe into Your heavenly arms as You see fit to gather into Your heavenly arms through me, by the power of Your Spirit. In the name of Jesus, AMEN

THE FAMOUS LAST WORDS OF ASCENSION DAY

ASCENSION’S FINAL WORDS ARE RECORDED IN HISTORY. DAYA the book of cts 1:6-11 As a result, when (the disciples) gathered together, they questioned Him, “Lord, would You return the kingdom to Israel at this time?” He replied affirmatively. And He told them, “I’m going to tell you something.” “It is not your responsibility to know the times or seasons that the Father has established in His own power. However, when the Holy Spirit has descended upon you, you will be empowered, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the world.” Following His words, He was lifted up into the clouds, out of sight of all who had gathered to see them.

1. Jesus, who was carried up from you and ascended into heaven, will return in the same manner as you witnessed Him ascend into heaven.” Dear Fellow, I address you in the name of Jesus Christ, our risen and ascended King.
2. Last words that are well-known.
3. “Later on, I’ll make it to church.
4. Last words that will live in infamy!
5. In recent years, it has evolved into a morbid form of comedy that we use to characterize someone who believes a situation is not hazardous when it turns out to be lethal.
6. The final words spoken by a person are sometimes of significant value.
7. Finally, I have laid up for myself the crown of righteousness, which will be given to me by the Lord, the just Judge, when the time comes.” 2 Timothy 4:67–8.

It was he who stated, “Eighty-six years have elapsed since I began serving Him, and He has done nothing but good for me.

God is the Lord, and he is the one who saves us from death.

That Ascension Day, however, saw the utterance of some quite crucial final remarks.

What do their statements imply for us as a result?

As you are aware, the term “ascension” literally means “moving up.” Just a few minutes ago, we acknowledged that Jesus died for our sins and was buried, and that he rose from the grave on the third day “His descent into hell was followed by His resurrection from the dead on the third day.

In fact, He promised His followers that He would be with them always and even to the end of the world: “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” – Matthew 28:20.

There are only a few minutes left!

They came up to Him and asked Him.

Since He had proved the ability to cure people and perform miracles – even rising from the dead – it was clear that He possessed the authority to expel the Romans from Israel and restore the nation to its former splendor, as well.

The statements of the disciples indicated their illiteracy.

It is His rule in the minds of Christians, which is accomplished via faith.

“My kingdom is not of this world,” he’d declared over and over.

Look there’ or anything along those lines.

The kingdom of God, according to Jesus, is found everywhere there is a person whose heart is filled with confidence in Him.

They held out hope for an earthly reign right up until the day of the Ascension!

It will, if you accept what liberal churches are teaching these days.

– It will never come to pass.

The Bible’s primary aim, according to television preacher Robert Schuller, is to provide you with a satisfied and joyful life in the here and now.

The central topic of God’s Word has everything to do with something far more essential than that: the salvation of the soul.

He did it by giving His only Son, Jesus, as a sacrifice.

Jesus walked among us and died in our place.

Jesus made the payment in our place.

Why?

“However, when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will gain authority, and you will be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the world.” With these statements, Jesus disclosed the nature of their mission.

“You will be given authority.” When I went out to check on the scene of a grass fire west of town a couple of weeks ago, I saw a barbed-wire fence that had acquired some electrical power.

An REA line had been dislodged from its pole and had fallen through the fence.

As believing Christians, you and I have been imbued with the dynamism of the Holy Spirit’s transforming power.

Our mission is to spread the life-giving energy of the Gospel to as many people as possible!

We are aware that believing in Jesus is the only way to have a life that will last eternally.

Impossible!

“We are the light of the world,” and “we are the salt of the earth,” as the saying goes.

God’s kingdom has been brought into our hearts, and Jesus has given us the mission of spreading that kingdom to the hearts of everyone around us.” Following His words, He was lifted up into the clouds while they stood there watching.

Two men dressed in white stood by them as He ascended into the heavens, and they noticed them because they were looking straight up.

As Jesus began to gently ascend into the clouds, we can imagine the disciples’ awe at his appearance.

Soon after, someone takes a glance around and finds that there are two angels standing in the vicinity.

Then they asked, “Why are you standing there, men of Galilee, looking up into the sky?

We, too, must bear a certain load in this life, just as those disciples were forced to.

At the very least, not physically; certainly not with our eyes.

As a matter of fact, we know He is present in this room with us at this very moment because He declared, “Where two or three are assembled in My name, there am I in the midst of them.” Nevertheless, sinful people such as ourselves sometimes find it difficult to maintain such a personal relationship with our Savior when we are unable to see Him.

• However, Jesus promises to reward us with faith-filled eyes during our lifetime.
• Christ will return to the earth in a burst of lightning, and we will see Him ascending into the clouds to meet us.
• Upon the Last Day, you will recognize your Savior; in fact, you will be able to see Him!
• It’s important to realize that the moment will come when you’re fatigued or when things in your life are getting to you.
• In the same way that Job did, you may firmly declare: “This I know, that in my body I shall see God, and my eyes shall see, and not another.” Job 19:27 is a passage from the Bible.
• I believe that this young man is as prepared as anyone I know for the return of Christ.
• “”Well,” she explained, a little uncomfortably, “the Holy Ghost enters your heart and causes you to believe in Jesus.

What is the meaning and importance of the ascension of Jesus Christ?

Answer In the days following his resurrection from the dead, Jesus “presented Himself alive” (Acts 1:3) to the women who had gathered around the tomb (Matthew 28:9-10), to His disciples (Luke 24:36-43), and to a crowd of more than 500 people (1 Corinthians 15:6). During the days after His resurrection, Jesus instructed His followers about the nature of God’s kingdom (Acts 1:3). Jesus and His followers traveled to Mount Olivet, which is located near Jerusalem, forty days after the resurrection.

• Jesus then blessed them and proceeded to climb into the heavens as soon as he finished blessing them.
• The Scriptures make it clear that Jesus’ ascension was a genuine, physical return to the presence of the Father.
• A cloud obscured Jesus from the disciples’ vision as they strained to catch a last sight of Him, then two angels arrived and vowed that Christ would return “in exactly the same way that you have watched Him leave” (Acts 1:11).
• After sending His Son into the world at Bethlehem out of love, God the Father was bringing the Son back home to be with the Father.
• 2) It represented the completion of His earthly mission.
• The return of His celestial splendour was symbolized by this event.
• 4) It represented His elevation to the right hand of the Father (Ephesians 1:20-23).
• 5) It provided Him with the opportunity to provide a place for us (John 14:2).
• 7) It established a precedent for His return.
• At the moment, the Lord Jesus is in the presence of the Father.

God the Father is the Head of the Church (Colossians 1:18), the provider of spiritual gifts (Ephesians 4:7-8), and the One who fills everything in everything (Colossians 1:26-27). (Ephesians 4:9-10).

Jesus’ Last Words And Ascension

Forty days after his resurrection, Jesus appeared to his Apostles and led them to a location near Bethany, close to the Mount of Olives, where they stayed for the night. Perhaps they had all before visited it, or perhaps it was a location where Jesus frequently retreated to pray in solidarity with His Father in Heaven! The Apostles had been given specific instructions by Jesus prior to this, his final appearance, including the following: “Go and make disciples of all countries, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all I have told you.” The Bible says (Matthew 28:19-20) He then instructed them to return to Jerusalem and “Wait for what the Father had promised,” which he defined as the descent of the Holy Spirit.

He stated that he “shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now” while at the location.

“It is not for you to know the times or epochs that the Father has fixed by His own authority; but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and throughout Judea and Samaria, and even to the farthest reaches of the earth,” Jesus responded.

and a cloud received Him out of their sight.” Acts 1:9 explains how to be a Christian.

It will be in the same way that you have witnessed Him ascend into heaven that this Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will return.” (Acts 1:10–11) The following passages are from Mark 16:15-19; Luke 24:50-53; and Acts 1:1-11.

Dispel the darkness that surrounds those who disbelieve your resurrection and ascension, O Lord Jesus. May they come to know, love, and serve you as you deserve them to. Amen.

The Ascension is more than just Jesus’ manner of returning to the Father; it is also the culmination of his ministry. There’s a lot more significance to this event in Christ’s life — and in the existence of the Church — than you would think.

Background/Review

We looked at Jesus’ power over sin and death last week, and this week, we’ll look at the VICTORY of Jesus’ power over sin and death. In resurrecting Jesus from the dead, God fulfilled a promise that He had made thousands of years before in the Garden of Eden. God promised in Genesis 3:15 that He would send a Savior to crush the devil and defeat him. The whole Bible points to this moment – the time when Jesus would be risen from the dead and evil would no longer have control over the hearts of mankind.

• (20:20-23) (1 Corinthians 15:20-23) God resurrected Jesus from the dead in order to provide new life to everyone who believes – new life in God’s kingdom, new life in which we are no longer slaves to sin, and new life in which we are sons and daughters of the Creator of the universe!

A Big Promise (John 14)

The night before Jesus willingly went to the cross, He spent time with His followers, imparting them the most significant lessons in all of Scripture. Jesus urged them to pay attention to what he said because they knew what was coming (Psalm 119:11). Jesus made several really important promises to His followers. God ALWAYS follows through on His promises! One of the promises is found in John 14:12: “I will do whatever you say.” “What I’m going to tell you is completely accurate. Anyone who has confidence in Me will carry out the actions that I have taken.

• This is due to the fact that I am going to the Father.” Did you happen to hear that?
• Inquire as to what some of the most spectacular things that Jesus performed were.
• In light of this, how in the world could His disciples do even greater feats than these?
• You’re feeling depressed after hearing all of this.
• That is one of the reasons I am leaving.
• However, once I have passed away, I will send the Spirit to you.
• God’s Spirit is referred to as the Counselor, Friend, or Helper in several Bible translations.

However, Jesus assured them that it was better for them if He left so that He might send God’s Spirit to reside within each of them individually.

(See Luke 4:16) That is exactly how they would go on to do even bigger things than Jesus did.

Call need the assistance of three volunteers.

Application: When Jesus went, He told His followers that God’s Holy Spirit would be sent to them, and that in His power, they would be able to perform impossible things and teach with authority.

Yes! Jesus says that the Holy Spirit will be given to every single individual who places their confidence in Him. We shall do the seemingly impossible and share our faith with others via the power of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14, Acts 1:8). Should you put your faith in His word? Yes!

Jesus Taken Up Into Heaven (Acts 1:1-11)

To put it another way, when Jesus was risen from the grave, He stayed on the earth for forty days. It was during this period that He appeared to the disciples and others, instructing them on the nature of the kingdom of God (Acts 1:3). Jesus informed the disciples one day while they were eating that they would be filled with the Holy Spirit in only a few days, and they believed him. When the Holy Spirit descends upon you, you will be endowed with great power, Jesus declared. Afterwards, you shall serve as My witnesses in Jerusalem.

In addition, you will serve as My witnesses from one end of the globe to the other.” After saying this, Jesus was exalted to the highest point in the sky.

– Acts 1:8-9 (KJV) The disciples adored Jesus and were overcome with delight as they worshipped him (Luke 24:51).

PENTECOST (Acts 2)

Inquire:Has someone ever informed you that they had a present for you to receive? For example, perhaps it was a birthday present that your buddy had purchased for you a few days before your birthday. Your buddy informed you that he had a present for you in the works, and that you would enjoy receiving it. You were giddy with excitement. You had no idea what it was, but you were looking forward to getting it since you knew that your buddy was going to give you something really special. When Jesus went, He told His followers that He would send them the exceedingly precious gift of God’s Holy Spirit as a parting present.

1. Because, after all, Jesus promised that receiving this gift would be preferable than having Him there with them personally!
2. They waited with bated breath, certain that they would receive this present (Matthew 21:22).
3. They stayed together and prayed with the other believers all of the time as a group.
4. Observation by the teacher: In Luke 11:9-13, Jesus makes a promise that God is the Giver of good gifts.
5. When Jesus exhorts, “How much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who seek Him!” He is referring to the gift of the Holy Spirit.

A large group of believers assembled in one location.

It felt like there was a tremendous wind blowing.

They noticed something that appeared to be flames in the horizon.

Every one of them had been baptized with the Holy Spirit.

They were able to achieve this because of the Spirit’s guidance.

This wasn’t your typical Pentecost celebration!

I couldn’t tell where the wind was coming from.

In the Bible, wind is frequently used as a metaphor for God’s Spirit (John 3:8).

The believers were witness to something that no one else had ever seen before.

Now, it was not fire, but it had the appearance of being on fire.

Our tongues are responsible for our ability to communicate (James 3:5-8).

Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 2:4 that The thunderous roar of the wind reminds me of how people frequently comment that a tornado sounds like a freight train is about to arrive.

The sudden, deafening boom had everybody scrambling to discover what was going on.

The Jews who came to visit were taken aback.

To be able to communicate in all of these languages would have been difficult for them to do.

These guys were capable of doing the seemingly impossible via the power of God’s Holy Spirit!

Many onlookers (possibly Jews who lived in the vicinity and could not comprehend any of the foreign languages) felt that the disciples were just acting foolishly – as if they were intoxicated – but this was not widely accepted (Acts 2:13, 1 Corinthians 2:14).

Some people believe, while others are driven to learn more, while yet others do not believe.

Unfortunately, not everyone you know will choose to believe in Jesus’ claims to be the Son of God.

This was the same Peter who, the night before Jesus was crucified, was terrified by the questioning of a little girl and said he had never even heard of Jesus before.

He pleaded with everyone in the audience to repent of their sins and obtain salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

He had been baptized with God’s Holy Spirit.

Did Jesus follow through on His promise?

God ALWAYS follows through on His promises!

On that particular day, around 3,000 people become Christians.

A total of 3,000 persons placed their faith in Jesus as Peter delivered the words of the Holy Spirit.

Moreover, the kingdom of God was expanding.

The apostles’ teachings were studied and applied by the believers.

They shared a meal by breaking bread together.

Everyone had a sense that God was close by.

All of the believers had gathered in one place.

They were able to sell their belongings.

Every day, they gathered in the temple courtyard to discuss their day’s events.

Their hearts were filled with joy, honesty, and truth.

They were well-liked and respected by everyone.

In Acts 2:42-47, the Bible says Application: This painting depicts a wonderful depiction of God’s kingdom.

Do we have a heartfelt concern for one another?

Do we make people feel welcome and comfortable in our midst? (Teacher: If relevant, provide validating instances of how your pupils DO put these practices into practice.) (Students: This way of living is only conceivable because of the Holy Spirit’s enabling presence!

GOD’S POWER (Acts 3, 5)

Wow! A spiritual dynamite, God’s power has been given to every believer, and it is available to them (Acts 2:38). When it comes to the early Christians, the book of Acts describes their thrilling “acts” or “activities.” A wealth of fascinating accounts of how God’s Holy Spirit inspired people to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ around the world may be found in this book. The disciples, who are now known as apostles, which literally translates as “those who are sent out,” accomplished MIRACLES!

1. Townspeople sent sick people to the apostles in the hopes that when Peter’s shadow fell on them, they would be healed!
2. Peter even claimed to have revived a lady from the dead (Acts 9:40).

4. God’s empire continued to expand.
5. 1 Corinthians 12:7 (New International Version) God empowered them with the Holy Spirit in order to advance His kingdom.

7. At Jerusalem (Acts 1-7), throughout Judea and Samaria (Acts 8-12), and to the farthest reaches of the globe (Acts 13-28).

The Bible expressly states that this promise extends to children as well!

According to 1 Corinthians 3:16, your body is a temple, which is filled with the Holy Spirit.

According to Jesus, the Holy Spirit will teach you what is right and wrong (John 13:6).

He will direct your actions (Mark 1:12, Luke 2:27).

Some believers are granted the capacity to produce miracles, but not all believers are (1 Corinthians 12:7-10, 27-31).

God sends you the Holy Spirit for the purpose of bringing Him glory and expanding His kingdom.

Then you’ll go out and tell people about Me all over the world, starting with the people in Jerusalem and spreading out to Judea, Samaria, and every part of the world in between.

Note to the teacher: According to Colossians 2:16-17, the religious festivals that were necessary were “a shadow of the things to come; the actuality, on the other hand, is found in Jesus Christ.” (NIV) In accordance with God’s perfect timing, both Jesus’ death and God’s sending of the Holy Spirit occurred on Jewish holy days of obligation.

The Passover Feast (also known as the Shadow Feast) commemorated the event when God rescued the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.

Weeks (the shadow) commemorated the anniversary of the day on Mount Sinai, when God spoke to Moses and handed down his instructions for living.

When God sent His Holy Spirit to dwell inside believers (the spiritual reality), God also provided believers with the ability to carry out His perfect will (Ephesians 3:16, 1 Corinthians 2:4).
