Jesus Loves Me He Who Died

Jesus Loves Me – Lyrics, Hymn Meaning and Story

Anna Bartlett Warner is a fictional character created by author Anna Bartlett Warner. God’s love for each and every one of us, despite our sins and failings, is shown to us in the Bible. Remember that our Creator is all-powerful and all-loving as you listen to the simple lyrics of ‘Jesus Loves Me.’ He is at our side every step of the way and will never leave our side in the future. We may be feeble, but He is our savior and protector. Jesus has a special affection for me! This I know, because the Bible tells me so; He has a special place in His heart for little ones; they are weak, but He is powerful.

Yes, Jesus cares about me!

Jesus has a special affection for me!

Jesus loves me even today, walking beside me on my journey, and want to be a friend to all who live by bringing light and love to those who are in need.

He who died will cause Heaven’s gate to open wide; He will cleanse me of my guilt; He will let His small child to enter.

He will be close to me during the journey; Thou hast bled and died for me, and I will live for Thee from this day forward.

The Story Behind Jesus Loves Me

“Jesus Loves Me” is one of the most well-known Christian songs in the world, particularly among young people and children. Anna B. Warner originally wrote the song as a poetry before turning it into a hymn. Anna’s sister Susan asked her to write a poem for a dying child, and Anna responded with the beautiful lines of Jesus Loves Me, which brought comfort and serenity to the family. Anna’s poem, which appears in the novel Say and Seal and was written by William Bradbury in 1862, was inspired by the novel.

  1. He regarded it as his own favorite song, recognizing that the basic message of Jesus is ultimately what academics and children alike want.
  2. Following the performance of this song at a children’s mission in Yorkshire, England, Amy Carmichael, a young Irish missionary to India, was converted.
  3. His attention is drawn to the sparrow.
  4. Lord God Almighty, Amazing Grace, Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, Amazing Grace,

  • In recognition of her military service, Warner was buried at West Point with full military honors after her death.
  • “Undistinguished religious sentimentality” may be seen in both Anna and Susan Warner’s works, which some critics consider to be a flaw in their work.

  • In the song “Jesus loves me,” the author brings together three of the most fundamental realities about the childlike Christian’s relationship with the Lord: that Jesus loves him; that he rescues me; and that he invites me to come to him.

The refrain simply underscores that we have knowledge of Jesus’ love because of the Scriptures. Use in the Church:This is a lovely children’s song that bears witness to Jesus’ love, but it is also suited for children of God of all ages. – Psalter Hymnal Handbook (in German)

Her older sister Susan Warner(1819–1885) wrote a novel in which the lyrics were delivered as a consoling poetry to a dying infant, and the lyrics initially appeared as a poem in the setting of the novel Say and Seal, which was published in 1860. William Batchelder Bradbury (1816–1868) composed the music for the piece in 1862.

Poem by Anna Bartlett Warner

When it was first published in 1860, it was divided into four stanzas, which were as follows: I am certain that Jesus loves me since the Bible tells me so: Little ones are important to him because they are weak, whereas he is strong. Jesus loves me—he who died for me; He will open Heaven’s gate wide; He will wash away my guilt; He will let his small child to enter. Despite the fact that I’m extremely weak and ill,Jesus loves me and continues to love me; He watches over me from his heavenly throne, where he sits.

Then, for the love of his dear father, his small child will be taken to paradise.

History

In 1943, the PT-109 of John F. Kennedy was rammed and sunk off the coast of the Solomon Islands. When the islandersBiuku Gasa and Eroni Kumana discovered Kennedy and the survivors, they recalled that the Marines performed this song with the indigenous, who had learnt it from Seventh-day Adventist missionaries while riding on PT boats to recover the survivors. According to several hymnals from the nineteenth century, this song was originally titled “China.” A subtitled comment in some early hymnals, such as The Modern Hymnal(1926), explains the significance of this title by stating that it is “The beloved Hymn of China.” Early twentieth century hymnals, such as The Baptist Hymnal (1975), did away with the subtitle and simply referred to this piece of music as “CHINA.”

Revised versions

The poetry and the song, or sections of them, have been changed on a number of occasions. Some examples of this are as follows:

  • A message delivered in the bookGood Morning Message is based on the line repeated as follows: “Loves Us and Loves You
  • ” “Yes, Jesus cares about me. Yes, Jesus cares about you. Allow Him to guide you through your day, every day “in addition to this, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at [email protected] “Little ones to Him below” was the translation of the phrase “Little ones to Him below” in the inspirational bookFrom Chains to Change

Jesus Loves Me

The History of Jesus’ Love for Me Since it was first composed in 1860, this well-known song has been enjoyed by both children and adults everywhere. The first stanza was written by Anna B. Warner, while the second and third stanzas were added afterwards by David Rutherford McGuire. Susan, Anna’s sister, had requested her to create a song for a Sunday School teacher who was trying to cheer up a dying kid. Anna accepted the challenge. It’s no surprise that the lyrics have brought a grin to countless children’s faces and comfort to many adults!

  2. The lyrics of the song “Jesus Loves Me” are provided here in their entirety.
  3. This I am aware of because the Bible tells me so.
  4. “Yes, Jesus cares about me!” says the refrain.
  5. Yes, Jesus cares about me!
  6. As He loved so long ago, taking children on His knee and saying, ‘Let them come to Me,’ I know this to be true.
  7. He who died will cause Heaven’s gate to open wide; He will cleanse me of my guilt; He will let His small child to enter.

He will be close to me during the journey; Thou hast bled and died for me, and I will live for Thee from this day forward.

“, says the refrain.

Isn’t it possible that the holy God despises me because I am a sinner?

While God despised my transgression, His love for me forced Him to sacrifice His only begotten Son for my sin.

“Jesus loves me!” proclaims the song’s lyrics.

“The Bible tells me so,” I explain as to why I am so certain of Christ’s love.

Jesus had a special affection for His disciples.

His love was not a fleeting feeling, but a lifelong, self-sacrificing commitment.

He refers to us as His pals!

Now, please remain in my affection.

I’ve told you this so that my happiness can be shared with you and your happiness can be full.

No one has shown greater love than he has shown his friends by laying down his life for them.

I no longer refer to you as servants, because a servant is not familiar with his master’s affairs.

Thank you for your friendship.

I assigned you to go and bear fruit – fruit that will last a long time.

Love one another is the order I’ve given.” (See also John 15:9-17.) Several additional lines of the song’s lyrics, such “As he loved so long ago” and “He who died,” are illuminated by these verses.

Jesus Has a Soft Spot for Children The song “Jesus Loves Me” contains lyrics that claim that Jesus embraced children: “Jesus loves me!

” When Jesus realized what had happened, he became enraged.

I tell you the truth, anyone who does not accept the kingdom of God with the open arms of a child will never be allowed to enter.

What are your thoughts?

Even while the fact of Christ’s love for me is simple to state, believing it might be tough.

The phrase “love” conjures up images of a romantic connection, a commitment, and dedication.

Will there be trouble, or hardship, or persecution, or hunger, or nakedness, or danger, or a sword thrown?

As a result, I am sure that neither death nor life, angels nor demons, the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all of creation will be able to separate us from God’s love, which is shown in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:35-39).

Learn More About Jesus by Reading This Book!

– We have all sinned and are deserving of God’s wrath.

According to the Bible, Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a spotless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, accepting the penalty that we deserved, was buried, and rose from the grave to show us His love for us.

Yes, I have made the decision to follow Jesus as of today. Yes, I am already a disciple of Jesus Christ. I still have a lot of questions.

Hymn #67: Jesus Loves Me

The first four verses of the song, which are presented here, were written by Anna Warner. Several authors, notably Anglican priest David Rutherford McGuire in 1971, have added additional verses to the poem. William Bradbury was responsible for the addition of the chorus. William B. Bradbury composed the music. Verse additions and alterations include: I am aware that Jesus loves me, just as he loved so many years ago, holding children on his knee and saying, “Let them come to me.” Even though it makes Him extremely sad, Jesus loves me when I’m good; when I do the right things; and when I’m bad; even though it makes Him terribly sad.

Nevertheless, the water is deep enough for giants to wade in: “how vast, how long, how high, how deep is the love of Christ!” This love is “wide” enough to encompass all of mankind (particularly Jews and Gentiles, which is the subject of these chapters), “long” enough to continue for all of eternity, “deep” enough to reach even the most degraded sinner, and “high” enough to lift him to the highest position in heaven.

  • This simple little hymn, with an even simpler chorus, captures the essence of the gospel and, particularly in Ms.

Jesus Loves Me, This I Know

The short verse “Jesus Loves Me,” written by Anna Warner, is possibly the most well-known Christian hymn ever written. It is the book that has been translated into the most languages of any other. In spite of the passage of 160 years, it continues to be the most popular children’s spiritual song in the world. It is, however, more than just a children’s song. It is one of those uncommon songs that appeals to people of all ages. It has the simplicity of the words and the timeless melody to appeal to little hearts, but it also has the depth to interest the brains of adults.

Verse 1: Divine Love, Revelation, and Human Need

The song begins with a straightforward declaration (“Jesus loves me”) and then goes on to demonstrate that assumption. What is the source of this information? “I believe that because the Bible says so.” Only the Bible, which is the most widely read religious book in the world, speaks of God’s immense love. In Psalm 19:7–8 and 1 Corinthians 2:9–16, God’s love for all mankind is shown as an inspired revelation of God’s eternal love for all men. Where in the Bible does it state that He loves us?

  • Beginning with a straightforward claim (“Jesus loves me”), the song proceeds to demonstrate that assumption. What is the source of this information? “It’s in the Bible,” I say. God’s enduring love is exclusively mentioned in the Bible, which is the only religious text in the world that does this. In Psalm 19:7–8, as well as 1 Corinthians 2:9–16, God’s love for all men is shown in an inspired revelation. He claims to love us in several places in the Bible.

Who is it that Jesus is said to have cherished in the Bible?

  • Among those mentioned are the rich young ruler (Mark 10:21), Martha and Mary (John 11:5), Lazarus (John 11:3
  • See also 11:36), John the Baptist (John 13:23
  • See also 19:26
  • 20:2
  • 21:7), and the followers of Jesus. Jesus used the word “love” thirty-one times during His final night with His followers (as recorded in John 13–17). To follow the crimson thread of love (13:1, 15, 34–35
  • 14:15, 21, 23–24
  • 15:12, 17
  • 16:27
  • 17:26), read the Bible.

The next line in this hymn speaks to the necessity of humans: “Little ones to Him belong, they are feeble, but He is powerful.” We are weak as a result of our sin, and we sin as a result of our weakness. “Watch and pray that you enter not into temptation,” Jesus instructed Peter, “for the spirit indeed is willing, but the body is weak” (Luke 22:42). (Matthew 26:41). Jesus continues to love us despite our flaws and shortcomings. Thanks to God, He also empowers us to be powerful (Philippians 3:12–14).

  • She was born in prison after her mother had used marijuana, crack cocaine, and cocaine throughout her whole pregnancy.
  • When she was approached, she got agitated and collapsed into a fetal posture, screaming out for assistance.
  • She was attracted by a child who had so little yet need so much; she was devastated that a four-year-old could be subjected to such intense suffering and hardship.
  • This was always a source of comfort for her.

After a particularly difficult incident, Phyllis held her and rocked her gently. With tears in her eyes, the distressed girl spoke for the first time in her life. “Sing me a song about that Man who loves me,” she requested. 1

Verse 2: The Incarnation and Crucifixion

“No man has greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends,” Jesus declared. “Greater love hath no man than this” (John 15:13). Colonel John Mansur, a Vietnam veteran and retired Air Force Colonel, relates the story of an eight-year-old orphan who was injured by a mortar and required a blood transfusion. However, some of the other orphans had her blood type, which no one else did. The doctor explained to the terrified youngsters in pidgin Vietnamese, with a smattering of high-school French thrown in for good measure from the nurse, that the girl would die unless they could replenish some of her lost blood.

  1. The youngsters stared at one other with wide-eyed quiet.
  2. “Oh, thank you very much,” the nurse expressed gratitude.
  3. At first, he was rigid and deafeningly silent.
  4. With a fist in his mouth, he tried to hide his embarrassment from others.
  5. A Vietnamese nurse came on the scene.
  6. He stopped sobbing and glanced at her with a puzzled expression.
  7. She then addressed the Americans, saying, “He misinterpreted what I was saying.

He was under the impression that you had requested him to donate all of his blood so that she may survive.” “Why would he be willing to do that?” the American nurse inquired after a moment of serious quiet.

He said simply, “She’s a buddy of mine.” 2 “It is rare that a virtuous man would die; yet it is possible that some decent men will even dare to die for the sake of a good man,” Paul wrote.

The incarnation was part of God’s plan, which included Jesus coming “from His seat on high.

(John 1:14; cf.

The conclusion of the plan was the substitution of Jesus for sinners on the cross, during which He “bled and died upon the tree,” as the Bible says.

Verse 3: Salvation and Hope

The crucifixion demonstrates how much God cares about us. “God so loved the world that he gave his only born Son, that whomever believes in him may not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16). (John 3:16). As a result of Jesus’ love, a path was made available to “let His tiny child enter in” (John 14:6; Romans 5:9–10), which included “washing my sin away.” There is only one cleaner that can erase a sin stain, and that is the blood of a lamb.

God’s Lamb shed a sufficient amount of blood to atone for all of humanity’s transgressions (Revelation 1:5). God does this soul-cleansing as our bodies are being bathed in water, which is quite appropriate (Acts 22:16; Romans 6:1–6; Ephesians 5:25–27; Romans 6:1–6).

Verse 4: Assurance and Comfort

Jesus has a special affection for “children far distant or near.” Space, water, and the sky are all metaphors for his love which has no bounds and knows no limits. Matthew 11:28–29; 1 Timothy 2:3–4; Hebrews 2:9–10 are examples of how the gospel reaches people of all races, religions, social classes, and climates, as well as people of every gender and station (Matthew 11:28–29; 1 Timothy 2:3–4; Hebrews 2:9–10). Jesus died for everyone (Romans 5:18), and He desires that His message reach everyone (Mark 16:15–16).

  • (Acts 16).
  • 7:9).
  • Jesus stated that His sheep “will never perish, nor will any one be able to pluck them out of my hands” (John 10:28).
  • The following are examples of New Testament verses that demonstrate that Christians are “safe”:
  • All things work together for good in the end, according to Romans 8:28. Nothing is capable of separating
  • Romans 8:38–39 1 John 1:9: Confess your sins, and He will forgive you. 1 Peter 5:7: Place your trust in Jesus, for He cares. Love never fails, according to 1 Corinthians 13:4–8. ‘God creates a way,’ says 1 Corinthians 10:13. Matthew 10:28: There is no need to be afraid. Hebrews 13:8 says that Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. 1 Corinthians 15:58 says that our efforts are not in vain. James 1:12 says that if we endure, we will be blessed. 2 Peter 3:9: The Lord does not want anybody to perish. 1 Corinthians 13:13: Faith, hope, and love continue to exist

Verse 5: The Christian Life

In his letter to the Romans, Paul stated, “He died in so that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for him” (2 Corinthians 5:15). The most fundamental command—indeed, the most comprehensive of all commands—is to love God and your neighbor (Matthew 22:36–40; see also John 13:34). To sing “Jesus loves me” is one thing; to sing “Oh, how I love Jesus,” on the other hand, is quite another. By obeying Him, we demonstrate our sincerity. “If you love me, observe my commandments,” he stated emphatically (John 14:15; cf.

At a Chicago speech, Karl Barth was questioned about his greatest theological discovery, and he replied affirmatively.

Jesus Loves Me So Much He died For Me But What Can I Do to Show My Love Him?

-Wally Grant et al. If you desire to do something for the Lord because of His love for you, you must first love Him completely—”with all your heart, soul, and mind”—before you can do anything for Him (Mark 12:30). What does it mean to be entirely devoted to Him? “If you love me, you will obey whatever I command,” Jesus declares (John 14:15). Follow Him in all you do, say, and think. That’s one method to express your affection for Him. Obey your parents and treat them with respect. Do you carry out their orders without whining or complaining?

  • Do you go ahead and do it right away?
  • Every day, do you spend some solitary time with God, praying and reading from your Bible?
  • That is merely one cent out of every dollar that is used to assist the church and send missionaries out into the world.
  • God wants you to love your neighbors as he loves you.
  • You may rake a lawn for no compensation.
  • Carry out errands.
  • Baby-sit.

There are several ways in which you might express your devotion to Jesus. Your parents, your siblings and sisters, and even your neighbors are visible, but you cannot see Jesus himself. By expressing love to others, you are expressing love to Him.

Tap Into This Simple Truth: ‘Jesus Loves Me’ Lyrics

“Jesus Loves Me” simply expresses the tremendous reality of God’s love in a straightforward manner. It was created in 1860 as a poem by Anna B. Warner and featured as part of a narrative intended to console the heart of a dying child that the lyrics were originally composed for. In cooperation with her sister, Susan, Warner penned a tale called “Say and Seal,” as well as the music. Their message touched the hearts of readers, and their book went on to become a best-selling book in its day. In 1861, William Bradbury set the poetry to music, adding the chorus, and released it as a part of his hymnal collection, The Golden Sower, which was published in 1862.

Jesus Loves Me

Jesus has a special affection for me! This I am aware of because the Bible tells me so. To Him, the little ones belong; they are feeble, but He is a powerful God. Jesus has a special affection for me! Even though I’m weak and unwell, he yet loves me, so that I may be free from sin, having been bled and died on the cross. Jesus has a special affection for me! He who died will cause Heaven’s gate to be opened wide; He will wipe away my guilt; and He will let His small child to enter. Jesus has a soft spot for me!

  • Thou hast bled and died for me, and I shall live my life for Thee from now on.
  • Yes, Jesus cares about me!
  • According to the Bible, this is true.
  • Warner (1820-1915), a woman who lived from 1820 to 1915.

Supporting Bible Verses

“Truly, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God as a child shall not enter it.” Luke 18:17 (ESV) “Truly, I say to you, anyone does not receive the kingdom of God as a child shall not enter it.” Matthew 11:25 (KJV) (ESV) In response, Jesus expressed gratitude to the Father, Lord of heaven and earth, by saying, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have concealed these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to young children;” 15:9 (John 15:9) (ESV) I have loved you in the same way that the Father has loved me.

Be still and know that I am with you.

1 1 Peter 1:8 (New International Version) (ESV) You adore him despite the fact that you have never met him.

1 4:9–12 (John 4:9–12) (ESV) As a result of this, God’s love for us was made visible among us, as God sent his only Son into the world in order for us to live through him.

Being loved by God means that we should love one another as much as God loves us. The existence of God has never been witnessed; yet, when we show our love for one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

Jesus loves you and me

My grandsons and I were singing the hymn “Jesus Loves Me” the other day when we came upon it. I’m sure you’re familiar with it as well, because it’s probably one of the first Christian songs that every youngster hears, and it’s usually a favorite of both the young and the old alike. I was curious about how that song came to be composed thereafter, so I looked it up on the internet. The song “Jesus Loves Me” was not initially intended to be a song in the traditional sense. It was composed as a poem, however it was not included in a collection of poetry.

  1. Then, in 1860, a guy called William B.
  2. He was so taken with the poetry that he decided to adapt it to music and add a chorus to make it a song.
  3. The passages are as follows:1.
  4. Because the Bible teaches me to do so.
  5. 2.
  6. Despite the fact that I am quite weak and unwell.
  7. 3.

Heaven’s gate is about to swing open.

4.

All the way, you were right with me.

Yes, Jesus loves me, says the chorus.

Yes, Jesus cares about me!

Moreover, yes, Jesus does love you as well as me and everyone else — no matter who we are or where we live or how we appear to the world.

Invite someone to join you in singing “Jesus Loves Me,” and express your gratitude to Him for His unending love for us all.

We are confident in the fact that You will never abandon us and will always forgive us when we make mistakes, so we will never have to worry or be scared.

Amen.

Words for Thought…Jesus Loves Me

It was a few years back that I came across an article about a recent interview with Billy Graham. Dr. Graham was asked what, in his opinion, was the most important verse in the Bible, and he responded by saying The interviewer was interested in learning what the public might learn from a summary of all of Dr. Graham’s study and research, so he asked him to elaborate. Billy Graham had by this point mostly retreated from public life and was making only sporadic public appearances. Dr. Graham paused for a time before turning to face the interviewer and smiling.

“I believe this because the Bible says so.” Dr.

For this issue, I chose to publish these remarks as the Words for Thought because Billy Graham’s death has brought his name and legacy back into the public debate after a period of many weeks.

Some of those songs are the same ones I prayed to God to when I was a kid.

I sing, ponder, pray, and reflect in my spare time.

That meditation began shortly after the preschool and kindergarten students from my congregation’s school sung this song at the start of a worship session.

They sung two verses in unison.

Then followed the words, “He will cleanse me of my sin.” “Please let the small youngster to enter.” My religious antennas sprang up in a blink of an eye.

Hold on a second!

That’s what he gave his life for.

That was something I learnt from the Catechism a long time ago.

Allow the small youngster to enter the room.

That sentence is just stupid language in the context of a young child.

In addition, it’s not a good idea to leave youngsters wondering where they’ll be allowed to go until Jesus has finally wiped away their sins at some future and unknown period!

It is necessary to engage in some deep meditation in order to complete the task at hand.

It took many months.

Additionally, anything that was theologically right so that youngsters might learn now what they would later learn was important.

He has cleansed me of my sins, allowing me to dwell in the presence of God.

Yes, Jesus cares about me.

According to the Bible, this is true.

I’ve never seen it written down, but I do recall it from my childhood.

What you’re reading right now is a modification of my original draft.

And He loves me even when I’m doing something wrong, even though it makes Him upset.

Yes, Jesus cares about me.

According to the Bible, this is true.

I pondered many options for verse number four.

Is it possible that there are more?

Following a great deal of deliberation, sifting, and revision, here are verses four and five: Jesus loves me, and He will always be close by to walk beside me.

Yes, Jesus cares about me.

Yes, Jesus cares about me.

Jesus loves me, and I’ll do everything I can to be close to him on a daily basis.

There’s a space for you up in the sky.

Yes, Jesus cares about me.

According to the Bible, this is true.

However, there were still words and thoughts bouncing around in my head after my meditations.

Possibly, there was yet another verse ready to be written.

Yes, Jesus loves me, and His Spirit resides inside me, according to verse six.

God looks down on me with a grin on his face.

Yes, Jesus cares about me.

According to the Bible, this is true.

He does, in fact, walk with me.

Yes, He directs my every move throughout the day.

Yes, He cares about me enough to die for me and open the gates of paradise to me and my sins.

Yes, His Spirit resides inside me and empowers me on a daily basis. Yes, He is my Lord and Savior. I’m His adopted child. He loves me all day, every day, and that’s a given. That’s what the Bible has to say about it. And those are theWords for Consideration for the Spring of 2018. LEJ
