Pray this prayer when you are feeling lost

Some of us may have periods in our lives when we feel lost or abandoned, unsure of where we should go with our lives or how we will ever get out of the mess we have found ourselves in. It is a terrible emotion to bear, and it is during these moments that we believe God is the furthest off from us. A Prayer For When You Feel You’ve Lost Your Way

Tanja Heffner is a woman who works in the fashion industry. I’m in a downward spiral. I’m soaring in the air. My head is whirling. I’m starting to lose track of you and your love in my heart. My attempts to remain focused on the person I’m intended to be, the person you’ve made me to be, have failed miserably, and I’m at a loss for what to do. I’m in desperate need of your assistance. That sensation of being separated from you, the anxiety, the tiredness, the battle to get out of bed in the morning, the sense of futility when it comes to my purpose and my position in the universe—I have no idea when it all started.

1. Getting out of bed used to make me feel like I was on top of the world.
2. I used to sense your presence in every step I made; I was so driven, perhaps even a bit conceited, since I believed I was doing what I was meant to be accomplishing.
3. But, isn’t that a bit ridiculous?
4. It’s ridiculous to believe for a second that you’d forsake me, despite the fact that my existence is insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

6. At every point when I began to doubt your presence, you introduced something into my life that demonstrated to me that I was never alone.
7. So what is it about now that I’m having second thoughts?

God, I need a reminder of who I am and where I’m going. I need a reminder of who you are and have always been. I need a reminder of the powerful, loving Savior I serve and the incredible things He’s forever doing in the lives of those who follow Him.

I’m quite aware that I’m making a mistake by allowing my human doubts and concerns to cloud my judgment. Although I see that I am being naive, I believe that I am so far away from your light that I will be unable to find my way back. I realize I’m being naive in believing that you don’t care about me or that I’m lost and will never be discovered again. It’s just so difficult when the rest of the world continues to revolve around me—no matter how hard I try, I always seem to be three steps behind.

1. I don’t have to measure up, to fit in, or to be ‘on track’ according to human standards; I only have to be exactly where you want me to be at any given time.
2. Also, I need to trust that you’re in command and will guide me through this period of uncertainty.
3. And you have no intention of leaving.
4. Take some long breaths and think clearly for me.
5. When I begin to wonder, demonstrate to me answers as well as the will to keep going forward, even when I feel like I’m at a standstill.

When doors close in front of me, please open new ones for me to walk through. Please grant me the confidence to seek out connections that will both grow me and respect you when people move away from me.

When I don’t know who I am anymore, tell me that I am yours.

So I want to be nothing more than a normal person in this insane world. Please remind me every time I forget anything important.

It is important for me to not be afraid of who I am.

I’ve never been without a roof over my head or gone hungry, but I’ve had to work hard to get material items like an Xbox or a computer.

Being authentic to myself entails sharing my life experiences with others and explaining how these events have shaped my moral compass.

Because of Professor Harrison’s counsel and the newfound connection I’ve made with him, I’m motivated to be the greatest version of myself, and it all starts with simply being myself.
