For The Love Of Jesus Christ Who Has Resurrected Me

Hillsong Worship – King of Kings Official Lyrics

VERSE 1 We were waiting in the dark for something. Without hope, there is no light. You didn’t come down from heaven until you did. Your eyes were filled with pity as You carried out the law and prophecies. The Word was revealed to a virgin. From a palace of unending splendour to a cradle in the mud, everything has changed. CHORUS Give thanks to the Father. Praises to the Father, praises to the Son, and praises to the Spirit three in oneGod of glory Majesty Praise be to the King of Kings forever and ever.

Because even in your sorrow, you were able to see the other side.

Jesus, you died for our sakes.VERSE 3 And on the morning of Your resurrection, all of heaven held its collective breath.

For the Lamb has defeated death, the dead have risen from their graves, and the angels have stood in amazement, because the souls of all who have come to the Father have been restored.

  • Then the flame was sparked by the Spirit.
  • He will not bow his head, nor will he be overcome by fear.

Is ‘King of Kings’ biblical?

I often wonder what Brian and Bobbie Houston, the founders of Hillsong Church, are thinking when they create new music. They are the leaders of one of the most significant Christian movements to emerge since Billy Graham’s time. Hillsong United, Hillsong Worship, and Hillsong Young and Free have a combined total of 46 albums under their belts between three different performers. According to their own data sheet, an estimated 50 million Christians participate in worship through the use of music.

I don’t always agree with their beliefs, but I’m glad when individuals come to faith in Christ as a result of their efforts.

I’ve already published eighteen individual Hillsong evaluations, so please feel free to peruse them whenever you get the opportunity to do so.

New users should be aware that this is a different sort of review site!

1. What message does the song communicate?

Hillsong binds together a collection of truth statements about God and man, including the following: Man

  • Our lives are in darkness and are dead in sin until we have the light of God shining on them. We give thanks to God for His tremendous love for us, which He demonstrated by offering Himself for our lawbreaking, redeeming us via His shed blood, and rescuing us from our state of sinful death. Following Christ’s crucifixion, the saints rose from their graves
  • The Holy Spirit began to indwell Christ’s disciples at Pentecost, which occurred after Christ’s ascension
  • And the apostles prophesied of the coming of the Holy Spirit.
  • As a physically weak and feeble infant, Jesus came to earth from the splendor and majesty of heaven in order to save sinners from their state of death in sin. Jesus came to earth via the virgin Mary, who was also a physically weak and frail child. This is a remarkable demonstration of humility on His behalf
  • Jesus fulfilled the requirements of the Old Covenant law and the predictions of the Old Testament concerning the coming Messiah
  • God exists as a triune being and is deserving of adoration
  • Christ came to preach about the Heavenly Kingdom
  • Jesus reconciles the dead sinners to Himself, saving us from the repercussions of our lawbreaking
  • Jesus reconciles the dead sinners to Himself, saving us from the consequences of our lawbreaking
  • Christ defeated death and gave mankind the prospect of eternal life with Him by conquering the grave. The basis of the church is Jesus Christ

There is also a comment about sinners being welcomed back by the angels when they repent. Score:10/10

2. How much of the lyrics line up with Scripture?

This song’s lyrics and God’s Inspired Word are in complete harmony with one another. *All lyrics have been released with permission. We waited in the dark for anything to happen. Without hope, there is no light. Proverbs 21:16, Luke 15:11-24, Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:1, Colossians 2:13, and 1 Timothy 5:6 all speak of those who are dead in sin as being in darkness, without the light of God (Proverbs 4:19, John 1:3, John 3:19-21, John 11:10). You didn’t come down from heaven until you did. Your eyes were filled with pity at the time of our initial encounter to Christ.

  1. To fulfill the law and the prophetsChrist did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it by his life, death, and resurrection (Matthew 5:17).
  2. The word was said to a virgin.
  3. From a palace of unending splendour to a cradle in the mud, everything has changed.
  4. Give thanks to the Father and give thanks to the Son.
  5. Praise the Triune God!
  6. Take a look at the next line.
  7. More adoration is lavished on all three parts of the Trinity, with the additional attribute of King of Kings appearing in Deuteronomy 10:17, Psalm 136:3, Daniel 2:47, Matthew 28:18, 1 Timothy 6:15, Revelation 1:5, and Revelation 19:16, among other places.
  8. In addition, to make amends for what has been lost Nevertheless, there is also another reason why Christ came (2 Corinthians 5:18).
  9. Knowing this was crucial to our survival.

The death of Jesus atoned for our sins and paid the penalty for them (Isaiah 53:1-12, Matthew 20:28, Mark 10:45, John 1:29, John 3:16, John 19:30, Acts 4:12, Acts 20:28, Romans 5:6-10, Romans 6:23, 1 Corinthians 1:30, 1 Corinthians 6:20, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Galatians 1:3-4, Galatians 3:13, Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 2:14, 1 Timothy 2:6, Titus 2:14, Hebrews 9:12, Hebrews 9:15, Hebrews 9:22, Hebrews 9:26, 1 Peter 1:17-21, 1 Peter 2:24, 1 Peter 1:18-19, 1 John 1:7, 1 John 2:1-2, and Revelation 5:9).

  1. And on the morning that You awoke, the entire universe held its collective breath.
  2. It alludes to the circumstances preceding Jesus’ triumphant resurrection from the dead (Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24, John 20, Acts 1:3, Acts 3:15, Acts 4:33, and 1 Corinthians 15:3-8).
  3. In Matthew 27:52-53, there is a mention of saints who came out of their tombs.
  4. Not only are we in awe, but we are also jubilant (Luke 15:7 and Luke 15:10).
  5. Then the Spirit enkindled the flame (1 Corinthians 3:11).
  6. He will not bowed his head, he will not faint.
  7. I am free because of His blood and in His nameI am free because of the blood of JesusWe are washed clean because of the blood of Jesus (Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 9:22, 1 Peter 1:2, and 1 Peter 1:18-19).

Because of the love of Jesus Christ, who has raised me from death in sin to life in His presence (Romans 6:1-11, Romans 7:4-6, Galatians 2:19-20, 2 Timothy 2:11, and 1 Peter 2:24). Praise be to the King of Kings forever and ever. Line 4 of the Chorus is repeated. Score:10/10

3. How would an outsider interpret the song?

Many of the points I made in part 1 should be understandable to someone who is not religious. At the absolute least, people will believe that it is a Christian hymn about God saving mankind from their sins and leave thinking that way. If people are able to gain that much benefit from it, I believe we can call this a success for evangelism as a whole. Score:10/10

4. What does this song glorify?

The saving and redeeming work of Christ on the cross, as well as his triumphant resurrection. Score:10/10

Closing Comments

Hillsong’s “King of Kings” is yet another excellent song made by a well-known musician. That message is centered on Christ’s coming to save sinners from their darkness, rising again to vanquish death and offering us hope of a new life with Him, which will bring glory to God. The message of Hillsong will not go unnoticed by the majority of nonbelievers. This song is highly recommended for use in a worship session. Final Score: 10 out of 10.

King of Kings

Hillsong Worship has released a new album. It’s called King of Kings, and it’s off their next worship album, which has all the makings of the next great corporate worship tune. Before we go into the song lyrics analysis, let’s have a look at the video that was first published to enjoy it:

Song Lyrics Analysis

We waited in the dark for anything to happen. Without hope, there is no light. You didn’t come down from heaven until you did. Your eyes were filled with pity as You carried out the law and prophecies. God’s Word was delivered to a virgin by way of a throne of unending brightness To a cradle in the mud, if you will The reference to darkness for which we had been waiting is a lyrical allusion to the beginning of time, when there was nothing and we had the initial absence of light. A twofold allusion to the darkness of original sin, in which we were discovered waiting and lacking; our separation from God resulted in the position of being “without hope and without light.” God created the heavens and the world in the beginning by saying, “Let there be light.” Then He came swooping down from heaven, since God did more than merely create us; He sent His Son down to earth to show pity on us.

The second half of the verse then goes into further depth on theology and scripture:

  • The New International Version of Matthew 5:17 (NIV) states, “Do not believe that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets
  • I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them. ” John 1:1 (New International Version)– The Word was in the beginning with God, and the Word was God
  • And the Word was with God and the Word was God
  • To him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever, according to Ephesians 3:21 (NIV)– Amen

A large number of prophesies from the Old Testament that anticipated the arrival of Jesus as the Messiah were fulfilled in the life and teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus went on to say that His Way would not only replace the old, but would be the complete fulfillment of all things. At the beginning, Jesus was the Word (along with God the Father and the Lord the Almighty. hmmm, that’s a whole different song, isn’t it?) and He came into our world through the Virgin Mary, where He was born into a crib or manger – right close to the barnyard animals in the neighborhood.

Chorus

Give thanks to the Father. Exalt the Son in your heart. Praise the Holy Spirit three times in oneGod of glory and might Praise be to the King of Kings forever and ever. The chorus is really what I believe will make this song so popular and easy to sing – the simplicity of the lyrics is genuine and can only truly be God/Holy Spirit inspired. Nothing more can be added to the beauty of these lyrics – it speaks for itself in praising the triune nature of our God. Whilst the first half gives equal measure to each of the three aspects of God the trinity, the second half and really, the majority of the song, is more focused on God the Son character of His divinity.

Verse 2

in order to reveal the arrival of the kingdom In addition, to make amends for what has been lost In order to redeem all of creation, You did not dislike the cross in the least. Because even in your sorrow, you were able to see the other side. Knowing that this was our salvation, Jesus, for our sake, you died on the cross. The ministry of Christ is the subject of the second verse, which develops into a theme. The objective of Jesus’ life was to make the advent of the Kingdom of God known to the entire world.

As well as coming and living a life, Jesus came and taught us how to follow Him and, in doing so, be reconciled to God the Father.

The purpose of Jesus’ death on the cross was to rescue all of humanity.

In addition, since He willingly surrendered His blameless life, those of us who deserve God’s judgement and the sentence of death now have the opportunity to discover redemption and reconciliation with Him.

Verse 3

On that day, all of heaven held its collective breath until that stone was finally lifted for good, for the Lamb had defeated death, and the dead rose from their graves, and the angels stood in wonder, because the souls of those who’d come to the Father have been restored. The emphasis on Jesus’ death and resurrection continues in verse three. This verse, out of all the verses, is the one that makes King of Kings a praise hymn that is fitting for Easter. In the Bible, it says that the heavens were created by the word of the Lord, and that his starry host was created by the breath of his mouth.

Psalm 33:6 (KJV) A reference to this may be found in the second part of the verse: “At that instant, the curtain of the temple was ripped in two from top to bottom.” The ground trembled, the rocks split52, and the tombs shattered open as a result.

Many pious persons who had died were brought back to life by the power of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 27:51-52 is a biblical passage. It is the remainder of the passage that connects us back to the story of the resurrection and how Jesus’ death reconciled us to God the Father.

Verse 4

As a result, the Church of Christ was established. Then the flame was sparked by the Spirit. Now, this ancient gospel truth has come to light. He will not bow his head, nor will he be overcome by fear. I am free because of His blood and in His Name I am free because of the love of Jesus Christ who has raised me My personal favorite section of this final line begins with the words “Church of Christ,” which may be regarded a clear allusion to the name and denomination of my childhood church, the Clayton Church of Christ, which I attended as a child.

  • This is where the concept of the song comes to a close with a reference to the founding of the Early Church, which may be comforting and meaningful to all Christians — we are the church of Jesus Christ.
  • The spark of the Gospel was ignited at Pentecost, and the Gospel is not only a historical reality that dates back 2000 years, but it is alive and well in each of us.
  • God’s church will triumph and will not kneel or faint – but will persevere with the strength and joy that can only be offered by God in these trying times.
  • We are able to stand together because of and in response to His spilt blood on the cross, as well as through calling upon the name of Jesus.

Reflection

The tone of this praise tune is invigorating and upbeat. I believe this is due to the fact that Hillsong has adopted the “keep it simple” approach. When it comes to instrumentation, the piano has always been the king in my opinion – and when you hear that first line, which repeats between verse and chorus, it has a simplicity that also generates a feeling of expectancy. The lines are propelled by a tune that is easy to follow. Yes, the verses appear to be extremely lengthy and dense, but as we have seen, they are jam-packed with a plethora of biblical and theological wisdom.

As we sing about the history of our religion and its basis in Jesus, we may also claim and celebrate our freedom as a result of God’s mercy, love, and sacrifice on our behalf.

You are the God of glory, majesty, and strength, and you are deserving of the greatest honor and worship. a. Jesus – a. You are, without a doubt, the King of Kings. This praise ballad will almost certainly become the next major success, similar to:

  • 10,000 Reasons to Praise You
  • Blessed Be Your Name
  • What a mighty God we serve

A simple three verse hymn focussing on the cross

It was an unique sensation for me to be writing this song. I’d already written a number of songs for worship, all of which were in a more modern praise style, and which drew on my own musical experience as inspiration. Nonetheless, I vividly recall having the unmistakable impression that I was about to compose a hymn one day! Now, like the majority of people, I am familiar with hymns – they are a part of my religious upbringing, and I appreciate the truth that is included in many of them. In contrast, I do not return home at the end of a long day and turn on a hymns record!

  • Nonetheless, I’d been thinking about the crucifixion, and in particular about how much it must have hurt the Father to subject his loving Son to a terrible death on a cross in order to save us.
  • Not only was it my sin that brought him to that point, but if I had been alive at the time, I would almost certainly have been among that mob, chanting with the rest of them, ‘crucify him’.
  • The melody came to me while I was thinking about it, and it flowed in a way that made me think I had stolen it from elsewhere.
  • After a few months, I discovered that it is now being used all over the world, by all kinds of churches; it appears to be as accessible to a regular church as it is to a house church, which is very exciting to me.
  • It was relayed to me that this occurred at a conference.

Resources

Recently, I’ve found myself battling with the praise songs I’ve been hearing in various churches more and more often. I suffer for a variety of reasons, and part of this is undoubtedly reflective of me and my difficulties. But. This week, I was listening to a song from a Hillsong album that had just been released. I’d want to recommend this song to you and provide some explanations as to why I believe it’s fantastic, in the hopes that it will be a productive way of contributing my voice to the discussion around praise music in general.

  • Without hope, there is no light.
  • Your eyes were filled with pity as You carried out the law and prophecies.
  • From a seat of inexhaustible majesty To a cradle in the mud, if you will CHORUS Give thanks to the Father.
  • Splendor to the Holy Spirit, three in oneGod of glory Majesty Praise be to the King of Kings forever and ever.
  • Knowing this was crucial to our survival.
  • THE THIRD PARAGRAPH AND THE MORNING THAT YOU ROSE The entire universe took a deep breath.
  • We have been returned to the Father.

Now, this ancient gospel truth has come to light. He will not bow his head, nor will he be overcome by fear. I am free because of His blood and in His NameI am free because of the love of Jesus ChristWho has resurrected meSo, what is it about this song that I like?

1) It tells the big broad story of the gospel

Narrative is really effective for transmitting meaning and comprehension, and I agree with David Lose, who wrote about this in his book – Preaching at the Crossroads: A Practical Guide to Effective Preaching. There is no pressing need to increase biblical literacy, as if a lack of understanding of biblical quotations, locations, and names were the primary problem. Instead, we must help our congregations have a genuine acquaintance with the biblical tale so that it might enlighten, shape, and aid us in our everyday lives.

See also:  When Jesus Coming

I believe that we must teach ourselves to see and imagine the world we live in through the glasses of the Bible in order to be more effective missionaries.

I’m not claiming that every worship song must follow a strict narrative arc that includes the events of creation, fall, incarnation, cross, church, and the birth of a new creation.

A strong sensation, in fact, that we are so familiar with this tale that it “informs, influences, and aids us in our daily activities.” We must teach ourselves to ‘live into’ this myth in order to succeed.

2) It portrays ‘us fitting into God’s story’, not ‘God fitting into my story’

I’m concerned about the narcissism that a lot of praise songs seem to be encouraging and contributing to. We sing songs over and over again that reinforce a tale in which the protagonist, ‘I,’ is at the center of everything. Our self-centeredness is a contributing factor to the dilemma that God desires to rescue us from in order for us to live our lives circling around God and participating in his tale. Consider the following passage from the Bible: The Fall occurs when God’s commandments are not followed by Adam and Eve, and the result is that God must restart the covenant connection with Abraham’s family, which eventually becomes the nation of Israel.

  1. Jesus, on the other hand, accomplishes what Israel has failed to achieve; he becomes the New Israel, and all of humanity is invited to become a member of the New Israel via trust in Jesus and the events of his life, death, and resurrection.
  2. When we use language like ‘Jesus is my personalLord and saviour,’ we have to be cautious not to make it suggest anything that the Bible does not explicitly express.
  3. It begins with ‘us’ and ‘our’ need, then continues on to Jesus’ cosmic redemptive works, and finally positions the individual inside that storyline.
  4. We have not been saved from this world; rather, we have been saved for this world.
  5. In the meanwhile, we might look forward to living in resurrected bodies in a rebuilt and reconciled universe, to paraphrase the words of NT Wright, “life after life after death.” (If this is a weird new concept to you, dear reader, I apologize in advance.) yes.

I completely agree! It’s a completely insane concept! In a way, that’s what I believe began when Jesus rose from the dead in corporeal form, which I believe was the beginning of the resurrection.

3) It is emotional, without a momentary experience being the main goal

The primary objective of singing such songs, it appears to me, is either to have a brief emotional or euphoric experience right then and there, or to achieve a ‘breakthrough’ of what we desire in our lives through our singing of the songs and ‘declaring’ things in our lives. I believe that placing such a strong emphasis on and emphasizing these things at the center of our worship is incorrect. According to this song, Jesus is the telos (ultimate purpose, objective, or destination), and his redeeming, cosmic work via the crucifixion and his resurrection is the focus of attention.

This music appears to be more concerned with changing my perspective on the world and how I interact with it than it does with making me feel good for a few seconds.

4) It puts ‘victory’ within the biblical context

I’m occasionally perplexed as to what the ‘win’ is that certain songs are singing about. Is there a problem that we have to deal with? Has our existence been marred by any hardship or inconvenience? It seems strange to me to assume either that we will not have to deal with these issues or that singing about winning over them would result in some sort of victory over them. It is not victory over whatever discomforts I may be enduring in my life that is represented by this song (King of Kings).

  1. It is possible to recognize and experience the person and presence of Jesus in all of these circumstances (of course).
  2. Taking this into consideration, we may rejoice that death and evil will not get the last word in this Biblical narrative.
  3. By believing in God’s promise to bring us back to life after death, we think that we shall dwell in a universe where sin has been judged and dealt with in some ultimate way.
  4. I believe that the following are appropriate issues for us to consider as we figure out what and how we will sing our worship together:
  • Is this worship song assisting me in becoming more Christlike and ‘living into’ God’s big story
  • Does the ‘narrative’ or ‘perspective’ of this worship song resemble that of the Bible’s overarching narrative, or does it more closely resemble the prevalent worldview(s) in the culture I live in
  • Is this worship song assisting me in becoming more Christlike and ‘living into’ God’s big story
  • Is this worship song assisting me in becoming more Christ Is it possible that singing praise songs together shapes who we are becoming, and that who we are becoming shapes the world (to a greater or smaller extent), and what kind of world is this song producing

VERSE 1: We were waiting in the dark for something. Without hope and without light, until you came rushing down from heaven, with kindness in your eyes, to fulfill the law and the prophets From a palace of unending grandeur to a crib in the mud, the Word came to be born of a virgin. The Father is praised in the chorus. Praise the Father Praise the Son Praise the Spirit three in one God of glory and might Praise be to the King of Kings forever and ever. VERSE 2: In order to unveil the future kingdom and to reconcile the lost, as well as to redeem the entire creation You did not dislike the cross in the least.

Knowing that this was our redemption, Jesus died on the cross for our sake.VERSE 3: And on the morning of Your resurrection, all of heaven held its breath until that stone was finally lifted.

VERSE 4: And the Church of Christ was established, after which the Holy Spirit enkindled the flame.
