Why Do We Believe In Jesus?

What does it mean to believe in Jesus?

  • Answering the question ″Do you believe in Jesus?″ appears to be an odd inquiry.
  • It sounds a lot like the inquiry ″Do you believe in Santa Claus?″ but it’s not.
  • or ″Do you believe in extraterrestrials?″ Although it appears to be a simple inquiry, the question ″Do you believe in Jesus?″ asks much more than ″Do you think that Jesus Christ existed/exists.″ The genuine meaning of the question is, ″Do you think that Jesus Christ is who He claims to be in the Bible, and do you place your faith in Him as your personal Savior?″ So, do you profess faith in Jesus?
  • Do you think that Jesus is God manifested in human form as stated in John 1:14?
  • Consider whether you think that Jesus died on the cross to pay the punishment for your sins (1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21), for which you deserve eternal separation from God (Romans 6:23): Do you believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sins?
  • Consider if you think that Jesus’ death on the cross, as God incarnate, is the sole appropriate payment for your sins (1 John 2:2; John 14:6; Acts 4:12), or whether you do not.

Do you believe what you’ve heard? If that’s the case, that’s fantastic, but accepting the facts about Jesus is only one side of the puzzle.Biblical faith/belief entails much more than simply believing certain things to be true in specific circumstances.Biblical saving faith is based on such realities as well as believing and depending on them.

A chair serves as an excellent illustration.Look at a chair and assume that it is composed of materials strong enough to support your weight, and trust that it has been appropriately manufactured. This is a common misconception.

That, however, is not biblical faith. The chair is occupied by a person of biblical religion. It is literally relying on the chair to support your weight and keep you off of the floor.Do you believe that Jesus is your Lord and Savior? Are you putting your faith in His death to make up for your sin debt in its entirety? You may be relying on His resurrection as a promise that you will be resurrected to eternal life after death, but you may not realize it.

Would you fall to the ground if the ″chair″ of Jesus Christ were to be ripped out from under you, spiritually speaking?Or are you dependent on other things in addition to the chair to keep you from falling to the ground? If you comprehend and believe what the Bible teaches about Jesus, and if you place your faith in those facts as the foundation for your salvation, you have been saved!!If you ″believe in Jesus″ in the biblical sense, you are a Christian. In the event that you are unsure whether or not you actually believe in Jesus but still wish to, or if you sense God calling you to trust in Jesus, the following step is straightforward.

Believe!Put your faith in Jesus!Put your faith in Him for your salvation.Allow God to transform you from a state of sin to one of forgiveness and salvation. If you would like to convey your newfound faith to God orally, the following is an example of what you could say: ″I am well aware that I have sinned against you.I’m well aware that my sin separates me from you and your love.

  • I am well aware that if my sin is not forgiven, it will keep me separated from you for all of eternity.
  • I believe and trust that Jesus Christ is my Savior, that He died on the cross to pay the whole punishment for my sins, and that He rose from the dead on the third day, as promised by the Bible.
  • In order for me to be brought into a proper relationship with you, I am relying only on His sacrifice.
  • Thank you very much for your forgiveness.
  • Thank you so much for saving my life.

I ask that you assist me in becoming closer to you each and every day for the rest of my life.″ Have you made a decision to follow Christ as a result of what you’ve read thus far?If you have embraced Christ today, please click on the ″I have accepted Christ today″ button to the right. If you have any questions, please utilize the inquiry form on our Bible Questions Answered page.Thank you for visiting.

Why Do People Believe in God?

  • What motivates individuals to believe in God?
  • The answer appears apparent to the vast majority of people on the planet: because it is self-evident that God exists.
  • From the perspective of a believer, the most perplexing question is how somebody could be so adamantly opposed to faith.
  • And yet, as psychologist Brett Mercier and his colleagues from the University of California at Irvine make out in a new essay, there was a moment in the antiquity of our species when no one believed in any kind of deity.
  • The majority of our evolutionary forefathers were atheists, but religion was introduced to them somewhere along the line.
  • So we’re back to our initial question: What is it that makes people think that God exists?

Mercier and his colleagues make a distinction between ultimate and proximate causes, which is standard practice in evolutionary research and biology. An ultimate cause explains how a behavior came to be in the first place, but a proximate cause describes the circumstances in which that action will be done.Take, for example, the migration of birds south for the winter season. The main driving force behind bird migration is the boost in survival and reproduction experienced by those birds who migrate seasonally to warmer areas where food is abundant, according to the World Wildlife Fund.

The decrease in daylight hours, on the other hand, is the immediate reason, and it serves as a signal that it is time to move south.Given that religious belief of some form is a practically ubiquitous trait of humans, the likelihood that an ultimate evolutionary reason explains this phenomenon is very high. While not everyone is religious, and the types of belief that exist among religious individuals vary considerably, we must understand the proximal causes of this variety in order to address it.

According to Mercier and colleagues’ article, there are various ultimate and proximate origins of religious belief that may be identified.Fully modern humans first appeared on the scene roughly a quarter million years ago, and they all led hunter-gatherer lives until very recently. The males hunted, fished, or scavenged for meat in these primitive cultures, while the women foraged for fruits, roots, and vegetables to supplement their diets.Their tiny communities of roughly 100 to 150 individuals existed because this was the maximum number that the land could support given the limited resources available.Nonetheless, these communities were far bigger than the societies of monkey species, which tend to number in the dozens or dozens rather than hundreds of individuals.Furthermore, according to specific developed cognitive systems, humans are significantly more capable of collaboration than other primates, which makes them superior to them.

The most important of these is a sense of control.Humans swiftly gained a knowledge of their ability to purposely cause events to occur as a result of their tool use.My use of a rock to shatter open the nut was the cause of its failure. The fruit fell off the tree as a result of my shaking it.In order to comprehend social interactions, humans must first develop a feeling of agency in their own right.

So, we think not just that we have agency, but that others also have agency, which is a significant difference. As a result, we evaluate the behaviors of others according to whether we believe they were done intentionally or not.The person who accidently walks on our foot can be forgiven with ease, but if someone deliberately steps on our toes, we will want an explanation and an apology. In reality, we’re too sensitive to other people’s agency, inferring intent where none was intended by the person in question.Whenever someone cuts us off in traffic, we tend to believe that it was done intentionally, meaning that they were aware of how dangerously they were driving. This is in contrast to the more common assumption that the person looked but just didn’t see us.

  • Many of us are quick to assume that individuals behave with a specific objective in mind, and we overlook the amount to which their actions are affected by their existing circumstances and limits.
  • We also have a tendency to infer intentionality in natural processes and inanimate objects as a result of our hypersensitive agency detection capabilities.
  • It is old and witnessed in every culture throughout the world that people have beliefs in water sprites and woods spirits, specters and spooks, ghosts and demons, among other things.
  • Because the natural world is complicated and behaves in strange ways, we can discern agency in everything we see and experience.
  • For those of you who believe that you, as an intellectual human being living in contemporary civilization, are immune to such superstitious foolishness, you might consider the following question: Have you ever pleaded with your automobile to start on a cold, snowy winter morning?

You may even claim that your computer has a mind of its own since it does not act the way you would like it to.At times when the situation is uncertain and outside of our control, we have a tendency to instantly find agency in inanimate objects. This type of animistic thinking, which is defined as the idea that supernatural agency exists in the universe and has the ability to affect events, is a universal human characteristic.Such thinking is widespread among youngsters, and our animistic thinking as adults is formed by the cultural standards that we have adopted.

  1. Hunter-gatherer communities are likewise characterized by the presence of animistic beliefs, although they do not practice organized religion.
  2. A little more than 15,000 years ago, humanity began to progressively adopt agriculture.
  3. Initially, humans tamed a few animals and managed gardens to support their hunting and gathering activities, but eventually, all but a few communities throughout the world transitioned entirely to farming and herding as their primary source of income.
  4. When opposed to hunting and gathering, agriculture can support many more people per acre of land; but, this comes at a cost.

For as long as our group sizes remained small, we were able to maintain the psychological mechanisms necessary to effectively interact with the people in our community.Getting to know 150 people who live with you on a daily basis allows you to become very familiar with them. However, if your numbers are in the thousands or tens of thousands, the vast majority of the individuals you engage with on a regular basis are complete strangers, which can be a problem. This was the way of life in the early towns that sprang up as a result of the food surpluses produced by agriculture.

  • At this time, we can observe the process of cultural change in action.
  • The ability to cooperate is essential to human survival.
  • When we live in small groups, cheaters are swiftly penalized by their peers, and they soon learn that they must work together in order to survive.
  • Although it is difficult to take advantage of people in anonymous societies, it is possible to do so since there is no means for the rest of the community to penalize those who take advantage of the system.
  • The solution was to develop gods who were always on the lookout for cheats and would punish them on our behalf.
  • As a result, organized religion developed in tandem with the expansion of the city-state.
  • Following another twelve millennia, we find ourselves in a technologically advanced civilization led by science, which informs us that the universe works according to the principles of physics rather than according to the whims of spirits or gods.

Despite this, religious belief in one or more gods who watch over our acts and judge us as a result is fairly widespread. At the same time, religious belief has declined rapidly over the previous century, and it is necessary to investigate the underlying causes of this decline. It has been proposed by Mercier and colleagues that there are three sorts of proximal causes of religious belief: cognitive, motivational, and sociocultural. An analytical way of thinking is one of the cognitive factors.People who tend to behave on the basis of logic rather than intuition are likewise less likely to believe in God than the general population.

Possibly connected to this is the observation that persons with greater levels of intellect have a propensity to embrace agnostic or atheistic ideas.People who have a high level of what is often referred to as ″emotional intelligence″—that is, the capacity to quickly identify the feelings and intentions of others—on the other hand, tend to be more religious in their beliefs. The capacity to read others’ minds, of course, is precisely what led to the establishment of religious belief hundreds of thousands of years ago on the African savanna, as seen by the existence of religious beliefs today.Religious belief can be motivated by a variety of factors as well.People who are socially isolated are more likely to have a strong religious faith, which may help them to feel like they aren’t really alone.

A similar trend has been observed in the expression of trust in God and an afterlife among those who are facing death. No doubt, the old adage that there are no atheists on the battlefield holds true to a significant extent.Furthermore, when circumstances become unmanageable, such as in the event of natural calamities, people’s confidence in God grows stronger.

Believing that God has a plan can help people reclaim a sense of control, or at the very least acceptance, in their lives.Another thing that motivates people is the desire to improve themselves. If you live in a society where religion is highly regarded, it is in your best interests to assert your religious beliefs, regardless of whether you genuinely believe them.Surely there are plenty of doubters in the congregation on Sundays, though no one will confess it.This was my experience for the majority of my adolescence.) In addition, stories of priests or pastors who have lost their faith but who continue to preach because it is the only way they can make a livelihood are not rare.

  1. Finally, there are sociological elements that have an impact on the level of religious belief that exists within a society.
  2. Compared to the impoverished world, religious belief is significantly lower in industrialized countries as a general rule, according to research.
  3. Take Japan as an example: it boasts one of the finest levels of living in the world, but just 4% of the country’s population professes religious affiliation.
  4. Japan has traditionally been a Buddhist country, and religion played a vital role in the daily lives of the Japanese until after World War II, when the country became secular.
  5. A similar trend has happened in Western Europe, which many social scientists now label as ″post-Christian,″ according to the latest research.
  6. Because of its high quality of life and significant religious commitment, the United States stands out as an obvious exception.

However, as Mercier and his colleagues point out, Japan and Western European countries, in contrast to the United States, provide universal health care and strong social safety nets. The Japanese and Europeans are confident that their respective governments will come to their rescue in a time of need.Although the laissez-faire views of American culture make people’s futures less clear, belief in a benign God becomes more appealing as a result of this attitude shift. However, despite the fact that many individuals in industrialized cultures have abandoned conventional organized religion, many of them still profess to some form of spiritual belief, such as the existence of a life-force or divine spirit that pervades nature and human society.

  • As cultures become more prosperous and equal, it is possible that people may sense less need for a loving God to keep an eye on us.
  • Even in communities where organized religion is no longer required, it is nevertheless human tendency to detect agency in the intricacy and unpredictability of the world, even when there is none to be found.

What does it mean to believe in Jesus Christ? — Harmony Church of God

  • ″Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved,″ states the Bible. (See Acts 16:31.) So, all you have to do is profess your faith in Jesus and you will be rescued from hell and granted eternal life, right?
  • Or does it imply that you may merely state with your lips that you believe and then go on living your life as you always have, completely rejecting the things the bible teaches?
  • Or does it indicate that we may just accept that the guy Jesus lived on earth and continues to dwell somewhere in eternity today?
  • In the Bible, it is made very plain that believing in Jesus is not a ″easy belief.″ No, it’s not as simple as declaring, ″I believe Jesus existed,″ and then going about one’s business without giving Jesus another consideration.
  • About, believing in Jesus involves more than merely declaring, ″I believe in Him as a historical truth.″ It is also acknowledging Him as the Lord of the universe, as well as the Lord of your life, and submitting to His authority.
  • The fact that you believe in Jesus does not imply that you believe the universe revolves around him.
  • When someone professes faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior, they embrace the following truths in their minds, hearts, and attitudes: JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN.
  • ″I am the way, the truth, and the life,″ Jesus declared.
  • ″No one comes to the Father except through Me,″ he added.

(See also John 14:6) As Jesus makes abundantly plain, when a person chooses Him as their Savior, they are placing their whole reliance in Him to forgive them of their sins and save them from their sins.A person can no longer put their faith in their own good acts, their church attendance, or the religious institution in which they believe. They can’t put their faith in other gods or faiths, either. While doing so, Jesus releases you from the burden of trying to earn your way into paradise.

You no longer have to walk a tightrope with God; you can rest certain that you have been forgiven of your sins and that you will be receiving eternal life as a result of what Christ accomplished for you on the cross.Secondly, ONLY THE CROSS CAN BRING FORGIVENESS OF SIN.3.

It is this that distinguishes a holy God from us unclean humans. No amount of good deeds on our side can make up for our misdeeds and wash them away. This can only be accomplished if we believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and that He has opened the door to the presence of God for us.″For God took the sinless Christ and emptied our sins onto Him,″ according to the Bible’s text.In exchange for this, He poured God’s goodness into our lives. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:21 that You see, Christ took your sins upon himself and died in their place, and as a result, the punishment for your sins has been removed.

When you believe in Jesus Christ, you are declared sinless in God’s eyes as a result of what He has done for you on the cross.THREE.A TRUE BELIEF IN JESUS CHRIST According to what you have seen, fully believing in Christ entails much more than simply adhering to a historical truth or a set of religious ideas. It is also more than just stating that you believe in Jesus on a casual basis.True faith in Christ is putting your reliance in Him alone to make you acceptable in God’s eyes via the sacrifice of the cross.

You put your faith in Christ alone for your salvation, not in the church, in yourself, in your good actions, or in any religious act.True belief in Christ also implies that His ways will become your ways – that His wishes for you will become your desires – and that He will become the one around whom you will build your life.True faith entails making a commitment to Christ!Being committed to Christ is number four on the list.″Easy believism″ is not what it is when it comes to commitment to Christ — it is a new way of life.It is said in the Bible that ″if anybody is in Christ, they are a new creature; the old has gone away, and behold, the new has arrived.″ 2 Corinthians 5:17 (New International Version) After you have made the decision to put your faith in Him to forgive your sins, He expects you to follow Him not only on Sundays, but throughout your whole life.

  • He urges you to follow him in your role as a husband, as a student, as a worker, as a boss, as a father, and in any other aspect of your life that you can think of.
  • We are saved from the life we were leading that was founded in sin when Jesus saves us and we are saved into a new life that is rooted in obedience to God when Jesus saves us.
  • Who you live for shifts with time.
  • It used to be for you, but now it’s for the greater good.
  • We follow Christ and live for Him not so that we might earn salvation or a seat in heaven, but rather so that we can express our thankfulness for the price He suffered in order to offer us the gift of salvation, which we did not deserve nor earn.

Living for Christ is putting into practice the gift He has given us.5.EMPOWERED TO LIVE FOR CHRIST IN EVERY WAY One final point: Christ does not ask us to follow Him unless He first provides us with the means to do so.We can’t live the obedient life on our own, and we shouldn’t try.

  1. We require assistance.
  2. It’s an inside job, believe it or not!
  3. Not because we are physically incapable of obeying, but rather that we are spiritually incapable of doing so, is the root of our difficulty.
  4. Our connection to God’s power and our ability to bear fruit that He desires in our life is made possible by the presence of the Holy Spirit inside us.

″And I will ask the Father, and He will send you another Counselor to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth,″ Jesus declared to his initial disciples as He prepared to go, knowing that they would be unable to live the life He had called them to without the assistance of a higher force. The world is unable to accept Him because it neither sees nor understands who He is.″However, you are aware of Him because He lives with you and will be in you.″ (See also John 14:16-17.) The Holy Spirit comes to us when we choose to accept the gift of salvation that the Lord extends to us and make the decision in our hearts to follow Him.He comes to us in the person of the Holy Spirit and in the power of the Holy Spirit to help us change our thinking, our emotions, our desires, and our will from what we want to what God wants.

  • He doesn’t just save us and then leave us to figure out how to live the lives He has called us to live on our own.
  • But rather than that, He sends us his Spirit to dwell with and in us!
  • THE OFFICIAL STARTING POINT Everything in our life has a beginning point, and this is no exception.
  • When we accept Jesus into our lives and make the decision to believe in Him and follow Him, we are at the beginning of a new chapter in our lives.
  • In the event that you have never made this decision before, please take the time to thoroughly evaluate your options and the repercussions of both not making the decision and making it.
  • When individuals dedicate their lives to Christ, they are not guaranteed an easy life, as billions of people would attest, but they are assured of having the eternal relationship with God that they were created to have!

Why believe in Jesus?

  • Answer to the question There are a plethora of compelling reasons to believe in Jesus.
  • Many of us begin our path of religion because we are in desperate need of something that Jesus can provide.
  • We require assistance, hope, healing, or joy.
  • Our lives are in disarray, and we’re looking for explanations and solutions.
  • The one crucial reason to believe in Jesus, however, is to bring us into right connection with God, and this is the reason that underpins all of the other reasons.
  • It is only through reconciliation with God that we may get relief from everything that is wrong with us and find resolution for what we require.

What was the purpose of Jesus’ journey to the earth? What was He thinking as He died on the cross? As a result of His coming and doing everything He did, we now have a relationship with the Father: ″For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, and he was not counting people’s sins against them″ (2 Corinthians 5:19, NLT).Our broken connection with God must be repaired first and foremost in order for us to be saved as Christians.

According to the Bible, we all have a problem, which is referred to as sin (Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:8).The fact that we are born into this world as sinners (Psalm 51:5) means that we are estranged from God and on a course that will ultimately lead to eternal doom.God, on the other hand, loves us and desires to have a connection with us.

He desires to save us from destruction and provide us with everlasting life: ″God demonstrated his great love for us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we would have eternal life through him″ (John 3:16).(1 John 4:9, NLT).He paid the complete price for our sin via his death on the cross: ″He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins, but the sins of all the world″ (1 John 2:2).In accordance with Isaiah 53:5, 1 Peter 1:18–19, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Galatians 3:13, and Romans 6:23, Jesus paid the debt we due and received the punishment we deserved. When Christ resurrected from the grave, He accomplished the victory over death for us (Revelation 1:18; Hebrews 2:14; John 3:16).Because Christ died on the cross for us, we do not have to die.

The only way to be forgiven of sin and restored to God’s favor is to repent and accept in Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord (Acts 2:38; 17:30; Mark 1:4; Luke 13:3).The only road to the Father is via Jesus Christ (1 Timothy 2:5).The words of Jesus in John 14:6–7 are a powerful reminder that he is ″the way, the truth, and the life.″ No one else can bring anybody else to the Father except through me.I believe that if you get to know me, you will get to know my Father as well.″ God longs for a personal relationship with us, as if we were his best friends. Those who believe in Jesus are adopted as children of God: ″But to everyone who did receive him and believed in his name were given the right to be adopted as children of God″ (Romans 10:9).

(John 1:12, ESV).When we put our faith in Jesus, we have access to God’s heavenly presence, which can comfort, protect, lead, and guide us (Ephesians 2:13–18; 3:11–12; Hebrews 4:16).When we believe in Jesus, we gain access to God’s heavenly presence, which can comfort, protect, lead, and guide us.The Lord educates us and communicates with us via His Word (Psalm 119:105), and through the power of His Holy Spirit, He empowers us to live for Him and for others (Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 2:10–13, John 14:26).When we put our faith in Jesus, we are given the greatest gift of all: the redemption of our souls (1 Peter 1:8–9), according to Scripture.Furthermore, this present is completely free.

  • In order to earn it, we can’t accomplish anything.
  • It is given to us despite the fact that we are undeserving: ″God saved you via his grace when you believed.″ It is a gift from God, and you have no right to claim credit for it.
  • It is not a reward for the wonderful things we have done, so none of us can take pride in our salvation″ (Ephesians 2:8–9, New Living Translation).
  • Faith in Jesus opens our hearts to a love unlike any other, a love that is willing to sacrifice and die for us (John 10:11; Romans 5:8).
  • Despite the fact that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love (Romans 8:35–39), it is the greatest and most profound love that has ever been known.

Believing in Jesus and having a personal connection with God frees us from our old existence of guilt, shame, and sin and allows us to live in freedom (John 8:36; Romans 8:2).This fulfillment that our souls want for can only be found in Christ, as stated in the verse above: ″For he satisfies the longing spirit, and he fills the hungry soul with excellent things″ (Psalm 107:9, ESV).As a result of our trust in Jesus Christ, we discover who we were meant to be and the real purpose of our lives: ″For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God planned in advance that we should walk in them″ (Ephesians 2:10, ESV; see also Philippians 3:8–10).Have you made a decision to follow Christ as a result of what you’ve read thus far?

There is not much good in me.

I am self-centered and arrogant. In a variety of spectacular manifestations, these exquisite characteristics have shown themselves over the years. Oh, I have brief, dazzling moments in which some positive characteristics emerge, but in general, I may be viewed as a poster kid for Romans 3:23, which states that every one of us has been in rebellion against God.

Jesus is willing to take me as I am.

  • This is a great example of not having to clean the house before the house cleaner arrives to do the cleaning work.
  • Jesus accepts the building, or the person, just as they are in their current state.
  • Jesus knew everything about me centuries before I was even born.
  • He anticipated that I would be self-centered and conceited, and that all of this filth would divide me from God, who is holy.
  • ″I’ll accept her precisely the way she is,″ Jesus declared.
  • When I was 15 years old, I knew that I would never be able to clean myself up enough to be accepted into the kingdom of God.

I was in desperate need of someone to clean me up, and that someone happened to be Jesus.

Jesus took my punishment.

  • Would you be willing to bear the consequences of someone else’s crime?
  • Would you, if I asked you?
  • For someone you have never met before?
  • Even if it entailed the death sentence, the vast majority of us would not support it.
  • He suffered my penalty because He dwelt in paradise, where there is no evil or sin, and he was without sin.
  • God will not accept me into paradise with all of my resistance and pride, which is referred to as sin in the Bible.

It was necessary to punish me for my wrongdoing, and the punishment was a permanent separation from God.″I don’t want Leah to be separated from God,″ Jesus expressed concern.I will accept her punishment and provide her the gift of my eternal friendship with the Almighty.″ He died on the cross and paid the penalty for my sin, which was a great relief to me.He rose from the dead after three days and provided me with the option for a new life…a life with God in heaven when I died on this planet…when I died on this earth.

Jesus gives me the opportunity for do-overs.

  • What I don’t know is if you need a do-over every now and again!
  • The opportunity to make up for anything I previously done wrong.
  • After I surrendered my heart to Jesus and allowed Him to begin cleaning me up, I was given the opportunity to have several do-overs.
  • My first marriage was a disaster; my second marriage has been a gift.
  • My twenties were filled with horrible decisions about sex, attitudes, and deeds; but, my thirties, forties, and hopefully beyond are filled with improved decisions, thanks to the guidance of God.
  • My 20s and early 30s were spent seeking the fame and money that come with being a part of this world, but none of it brought me happiness; now, I find joy and serenity in knowing that I am living and doing precisely what I am intended to be doing in this world.

I believed a hu-Man would complete me in my twenties; instead, in Jesus, I discovered the one and only man who can provide ultimate satisfaction and joy.

I don’t have to do life alone.

Jesus is my BFF (best friend forever), which means that I never have to be alone again. He is right alongside me, instructing me, leading me, soothing me, and loving me. He is there for me. The best friend who never departs, who never abandons, who never disappears without a trace. Because of him, I am far more wise than I should be.

Jesus can be trusted.

  • Because you are a Christian, it does not follow that your life will be an idyllic garden with no thorns.
  • This instead means that I have faith in Jesus to bring things into my life, and the lives of my family and friends, that are ultimately beneficial to us all.
  • It wasn’t until my father was diagnosed with cancer that I realized what was going on.
  • What in the world could it possibly be beneficial for—either him or me?
  • Dr.
  • Frank Cox’s book, Trusting God’s Heart, had been recommended to me a few months before I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Spurgeon’s quote, ″God is too good to be unkind, He is too wise to make a mistake,″ serves as the inspiration for this design.Even if you cannot see His hand, you can always put your faith in His heart. This book challenged me to truly trust that God will work all things out for the good of those who love and serve Him.I am grateful for the opportunity to read it (Romans 8:28).

I was also participating in Beth Moore’s Bible study, Believing God, which pushed me to examine my own beliefs about God and to come to terms with them.Whether or not I believed that God is who He claims to be is a matter of personal choice. Is it possible for God to actually perform what He claims He can do?

Who am I in the eyes of God?Is it true that I am significant to God?God and I had a conversation on the day we found out about my Daddy’s cancer, and the conversation went something like this: The Almighty: Leah, do you truly believe that I am who I claim to be?Leah: Yes, Lord, that’s correct.God: Do you think that I adore your Daddy in a way that you could never even imagine loving him?Leah: Hmmm, I don’t know.

Maybe.God: Do you believe that I was aware of this and that I am capable of dealing with this matter with your Daddy…without your assistance?Leah: I suppose that’s the case, Lord.God: Then put your confidence in me.Leah: Yes, Lord, I do.

I have faith in you.At that moment, a sense of calm washed over me, unlike anything I’d ever experienced before.I realized at that instant that I could put my confidence in Jesus when it came to my darling Daddy.

I’m not the same woman I was before I met Jesus.

  • God is bringing humility into my life where there was once pride.
  • God is bringing awareness of the needs of others into my life when there was before only self-centeredness.
  • God is bringing kindness of heart into places where there was once jealously.
  • God is infusing love into me where there has previously been a lack of unconditional love toward others.
  • God has restored my physical and mental health in areas where sexual promiscuity had wreaked havoc on my body and soul.
  • God has provided me with pleasant things to say in places where there was vulgarity.

Instead of anorexia and a fixation with my body, God has replaced it with a passion with Jesus and his sacrifice.I am not the same woman I was before I surrendered my life to Jesus and allowed Him to govern my destiny.

Jesus does not heap shame on me over my past.

  • God is not interested in humiliation.
  • According to the Bible, after you and I ask God to pardon us for our rebellion and disobedience, God completely forgets about it and forgets about us.
  • I don’t understand it because it’s beyond my limited human understanding, but I believe it because the Bible says it’s true.
  • My record before God is completely erased every time I come to terms with him regarding my resistance and disobedience.
  • It’s kind of like this, really: Leah: God, please forgive me for what I’ve done.
  • I understand that it makes you upset and that it is a sin against you.

Please assist me in changing my heart.God says to Leah, ″I forgive you.″ Everything has been taken care of.Leah: Lord, concerning the lie I confessed to you, I need your help….God: What lies are you telling me?

It is no longer there, forgotten by God…It will never be brought up again. My personal life verse is Psalm 3:3, which reads, ″But you are a shield around me, O Lord; you heap honor on me and lift up my head.″ Would you be interested in hearing a narrative about how all of this works in practice?

God tried to soften my harsh, vengeful heart toward another individual via many means. To watch, go to this link.

10 Reasons Why I Believe in Jesus – David Foster

  • ″I Believe,″ the smash single by Brooks & Dunn, is one of the most interesting songs I’ve heard in a long time.
  • It tells the story of how a young man’s religion has developed and flourished over the course of time, thanks to the influence of a buddy.
  • I have to accept that time, people, events, and a lifelong quest of truth have all had an impact on my convictions and that they continue to do so.
  • Because we are living in a time when there is so much controversy about who Jesus is, sparked by the DaVinci Code book and movie, and because Jesus has a way of re-entering the global conversation and sticking around like gum on your shoe, I thought it would be great to simply list in the Dave Rave the 10 reasons why, after studying, loving, living, serving, and talking about Jesus for over three decades, I am even more convinced of the fact of His life and the force of His resurrection.
  • So here are the top 10 reasons why I believe in Jesus, in no particular order: 1.
  • His long-term viability.

The fact that Jesus has survived 2,000 years of disagreement, criticism, hatred, and anger is more than a little impressive to me.He continues to be the only continuous and resilient message of hope the world has ever known. He just will not be ignored. He is ″the″ fulfillment of prophesy, according to the Bible.

The majority of the Bible, particularly the Old Testament, is devoted to predictions regarding the coming of the Messiah, who is called the Messiah.Jesus is the fulfillment of all of those prophesies, not only in the sense that He fulfilled prophecy, but in the sense that He is the fulfillment of all of those prophecies in one person. His life, ministry, and activities had all been foreseen hundreds and hundreds of years before they took place, and they took place precisely as predicted and prophesied at a time when Jesus could not have exercised any influence over the events that took place.

His lessons are number three. However, while we have attempted to civilize Jesus in our culture, His teachings are in fact shockingly revolutionary. To be more specific, if we followed His teachings to the letter, we would not be experiencing the bloodshed and conflict that we are seeing now. Many people, including those who do not believe in His deity, acknowledge that His teachings are ethically better.4.His very being.

Throughout his life, he has been the topic of investigation, debate, exposé, and inquiry. And, as a result of the life He led, the consequences of His life can still be felt today. It is a convincing case for believing that He was and continues to be the Son of God and Savior of the world.5.He has made commitments.

Jesus promised, for example, that He would come to offer life and that He would come to give rest to those who sought them.Jesus prophesied that His church will overcome the powers of darkness.Jesus promised that eternity will be pleasant for those who were willing to trust in him.He has fulfilled all of the promises He has made to me, and I have witnessed those same promises being fulfilled in the lives of countless others. The most exciting part is still to come.6.

  • The extent to which he has influenced the world.
  • When billions of people throughout the world today continue to claim the name of Jesus as Messiah, as their Savior, and as their Lord, it is impossible to ignore the situation.
  • When Bono was asked about the viability of Jesus Christ’s claims, he pointed to the global durability or impact that Jesus and His ministry have had on people all over the world, which he believes is sufficient evidence for him to follow Jesus.
  • 7.
  • His affection.

His love is the most powerful redeeming force on the face of the world. He was a prophet of love, to put it mildly.Despite the fact that we were still hostile toward Him and had nothing to contribute, He preached and taught love, and He demonstrated the ultimate love by giving His life for us.8.

  1. His professional achievements.
  2. Consider this: when Jesus died, he had nothing, exercised no authority, held no position of authority, did not go far from His house, and had just twelve formal disciples.
  3. And yet, from that humble beginning, He has established an epic presence in the world that has lasted for more than two thousand years.
  4. Nothing can be quantified in terms of what He has achieved, and all that people have accomplished in His name has made life better for everyone and has continued to draw the world back from the brink of disaster for many years.

9th, he has bravery.According to many who studied Jesus’ life, it was his courage in the face of beatings, ridicule, and betraying; his stability of purpose; and His uniqueness in mission that enabled Him to press ahead even into situations where He knew He would be betrayed and crucified. He was and continues to be not just God, but also man.As a man, His heroism is not only inspirational, but also transformative in every sense of the term since He lives in and through those who follow His teachings.

  • I have purpose, hope, and joy because of His courage, which I attribute to God.
  • 10.
  • His ability to be inclusive.
  • To the contrary of what a large portion of Christianity has become in modern times, Jesus was and continues to be a ″includer.″ While much religious legalism now is focused on shrinking the circle to the point that it excludes individuals, Jesus was always a believer in the importance of a large circle.
  • He created a circle around himself, inviting ″anyone want to come.″ He surrounded himself with people who had a bad reputation.
  • He picked people who had no relation to the elite to be part of His inner group.
  • Jesus was a believer who welcomed others.

He was equally at ease with the intellectuals of His day as He was with commoners, plain folks, and prostitutes, to name a few examples. You may argue that Jesus never met a person that He didn’t genuinely like. There you have it: my top 10 reasons for believing in Jesus. However, the reality is that each of us is responsible for answering these issues for ourselves. That I am thus certain and persuaded, or that your mother is, or that your brother is, or your parents, or your pastor or other people you know, doesn’t settle the matter for you.

It doesn’t even settle the issue for me.One of the things I like about Jesus is that He will take either a ″yes″ or a ″no,″ but never a ″maybe.″ Everyone needs to make a decision, and once they do, that decision determines the course of their lives for the rest of their lives.Consider how significant the decision to accept Jesus Christ as your personal God and Savior may be in your transformation right now and for the rest of your life.Think about it.

10 reasons I believe in Jesus Christ (i.e., in God)

  • ″For we walk by faith, not by sight,″ says the Apostle Paul (2 Corinthians 5:7).
  • (I started this post with the assumption that these arguments would be straightforward to communicate and that the article would be brief.
  • However, this has not proven out to be the case.
  • So that’s the first part of the story.
  • The last five reasons will be put on this page the following day.) Last week, while driving hundreds of miles to (and from) two funerals for beloved friends, I had a lot of time to think on what it means to believe in God, serve in ministry, and travel fearlessly into ″the valley of the shadow of death.″ I’m glad I did.
  • Throughout their daily faithfulness in good times and the terrible and dark days of suffering, Deacon James Gatewood and Minister Bill Hardy demonstrated to us what it means to be a Christian.

As our Lord stated, ″You put your trust in God; put your trust also in Me″ (John 14:1).According to my interpretation of Scripture, He was equating the two.In my opinion, believing in Jesus is synonymous with believing in God, and vice versa. As our Lord himself said it in his own words, ″No one knows me save the Father.″ Everyone else save the Son (me!) and those to whom I expose Him does not know who the Father is.″ (This is a paraphrasing of Matthew 11:27.) five years ago, you would have received a quite different set of responses when you asked me why I believe in Jesus Christ.

Here are my top 10 reasons for believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who has risen from the dead and is present everywhere at all times….1).THE BOOK OF HOLY TEXT.

There is nothing else like this book, which sits on the table to the right of my laptop, anywhere on the planet. It is the greatest miracle of all time.I am continually struck by the profound insight, the practical implications, and the continuous theme that runs throughout the Holy Scriptures from beginning to end on an almost daily basis. The Bible is considered to be one of the world’s great marvels. The thought of where we would be if we didn’t have it makes me cringe. What a debt of appreciation we owe to those who have preserved it throughout the ages and handed it down to our generation in perfect condition.

″What large country is there that has regulations and judgements as righteous as this entire law that I am presenting before you today?″ Moses once asked the Israelites.(See Deuteronomy 4:8 for further information). That makes me say to myself, ″Moses, you only received a small portion of the complete revelation.″ What if you had the entire Bible in the palm of your hand?Oh, how I would love to hear what you have to say about the subject!I’m reading the Bible and everything inside of me is on tiptoe and yelling, ″This is so true.

″How could He know so much about me?″ I wonder.2) JESUS CHRIST.There is no getting around it, and there is no other way to put it: I believe in Jesus because Jesus is who I believe in.What makes our Lord so unique is not just His love for the least of these, His patience with the leprous, His reprimand of the hypocrites, or even His tolerance with the lepers and the fallen, although these things are noteworthy in and of themselves. That includes the teachings themselves, which are as extraordinary as anything we can conceive (e.g., parables with their wisdom, Beatitudes with their just-rightness, and insights into Heaven), but also the context in which they are delivered. That includes everything from His miracles (such as the one on Mark 2 with the paralytic, to the one with Bartimaeus in Luke 18 and the one with Lazarus in John 11) to His teachings (such as the one on Mark 2).

  • It is these things–the heart of the Lord, His teachings, His miracles–as well as a thousand other things.
  • ″No one has ever gone to Heaven except the One who came from there,″ the Lord told Nicodemus in John 3:13, and ″If you’re not going to trust me when I tell you worldly things, how can you ever believe me when I tell you about Heaven?″ the Lord asked Nicodemus in John 3:14.
  • (3:12) ″Hey, everyone, have a look at me,″ Jesus did not go around proclaiming in a modern-day scam artist’s manner.
  • I’m the promised Messiah.
  • ″Take a look at this!″ ″The works I perform give witness to me,″ he said after teaching and working and blessing the people in the process (John 5:36).

You should pay attention to what He was saying and draw your own conclusions.Yes, I have.I am convinced.Jesus is the Messiah.

  1. THERE IS ALSO PRAYER.
  2. This means we must avoid falling into the trap of claiming, ″I believe in Jesus because He has provided me with what I requested.″ A number of people who have never attended a church and are completely unaware of the Bible have told us preachers that they were certain they were saved and headed for paradise as a result of God answering their prayers.
  3. The most venerated saints are likely to have more unanswered prayers than requests that have been answered.
  4. However, they spend their days on their knees, conversing with, listening to, and appealing with the Father in heaven.

What motivates them to do this? They have faith. My prayers have been fulfilled by God.He has responded affirmatively and has guided me ″on the road of righteousness for the sake of His name″ (Psalm 23:3).

  • In addition, He has stated ″No″ on several occasions, which has been soothing.
  • It’s what a caring parent does for their children.
  • It has happened on occasion that the Father has communicated assurance long before a prayer has been answered, saying, ″You may stop asking now and start praising,″ since the answer was on its way.
  • Some of the responses arrived the next day, while others are still on their way.
  • ″Be worried about nothing, but in everything, through prayer and supplication with thankfulness,″ the Bible encourages us (Philippians 4:6).
  • It’s the term ″with thanksgiving″ that jumps out of the page and captures my attention when I read it.
  • This morning, remembering the Lord’s answers in the past–naming them, thanking Him for them–inspires me to fall to my knees and seek His blessings, His deliverance, His presence, His healings, and, most importantly, His will.

I’ll be praying for you, Lord.To thee, O thou who hearst prayer, come all people″ (Psalm 65:2).I am convinced.4) MY PERSONALITY.I’ve gotten to know myself well enough that I’ve learnt not to put my faith in myself.

″There is no nice thing in my flesh,″ says the author (Romans 7:18).″It is not in a guy who walks that he is able to control his own steps″ (Jeremiah 10:23).Those passages have my name written all over them, and I sometimes wonder if they were written specifically for me and placed in the Bible.(Whenever I hear someone tell me to ″trust yourself,″ I want to burst out laughing.″Do you think I’m kidding?

Do you have any idea what’s going on inside of me?″Should I put my faith in that?″) I am so capable of ruining all that is wonderful in my environment, so capable of hurting the people I care about with my words and wounding them with my carelessness.Despite this, I seem to be hurting fewer people and wounding fewer people these days.

There are few things that give me more assurance that the Lord is present and active in my life.I believe in the living God because my passions and self-centeredness are not allowed to run rampant as much as they would want.I pray the lines of Psalm 141:3 on a daily basis.″O Lord, keep a watchful eye on my mouth.Keep an eye on the entrance that leads to my lips.″ He does, in fact.

  1. At the end of the day, I will often look back and think to myself, ″This is truly wonderful, Father.″ As far as I’m aware, I didn’t cause any harm to anyone today.
  2. There was no extravagant spending, no indulging my desires in the manner in which I had planned, and no flirting with a lovely girl or a gorgeous lady.
  3. I didn’t tell the person what I thought or give him a piece of my mind; I just walked away.
  4. ″You were extremely protective of my mouth, and how can I possibly express my gratitude to You?″ If someone thinks I’m saying the self-righteous prayer of the Pharisee in Luke 18:11-12, I’m not.
  5. All I’m doing is expressing wonder at the Lord’s ″governors″ who have taken control of my flesh.
  6. This is entirely the work of God, not of me.

Another reason why I think He is real and present, for which I will be eternally thankful.) ‘I am certain of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will see it through to completion until the day of the Lord Jesus,’ Paul stated (Philippians 1:6).The reason I believe in Jesus is because I see Him doing just that.My profound sadness is that I have only reached the first mile marker and still have a long way to go.5) THE COMMUNITIES.

  • The Lord has surrounded himself with some very outstanding individuals.
  • They serve as Exhibit A for the actuality and power of God.
  • The remarkable thing about the Lord’s people is the diversity of their beliefs and practices.
  • They are all unique, one-of-a-kind creations with no two being same.
  • Each of the extraordinary God-people in my life is one-of-a-kind, and I consider myself tremendously lucky to have come to know them.
  • Prior to this, I named James Gatewood and Bill Hardy, among others.
  • Following the Lord Jesus for more than 60 years and serving as a minister for more than half that time, I could fill a book with the names of others who, like James and Bill, ″conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, quenched the power of flames, avoided the edge of the sword, were made strong from weakness, became mighty in battle, and put foreign armies to flight″ (Hebrews 11:33-34).
  • Bryan Harris, Chet Griffin, Don Davidson, David Crosby, Joel K.
  • Davis, Maude Sparks, Mildred Phillips, Margaret Perkins, Jim and Darlene Graham, and my wife have all inspired me to believe in the existence of a higher power.
  • The reason I believe is due to people like C.
  • S.
  1. Lewis, Warren Wiersbe, Bill Burkett, Ron Palmer, Carl F.
  2. H.
  3. Henry, Fisher Humphreys and my own children.
  4. Corrie ten Boom, Elisabeth Elliot, Mitsuo Fuchida, Don and Rose Marie McCain, Lawrence Bryant, and my grandkids have inspired me to believe what I believe.

It is because of my mother that I believe. It’s because of my father that I believe what I think. It’s due of my big brother Ron, too, I suppose. My grandmother, who endured enormous difficulties and trials but never wavered in her faith, is the reason why I believe in God.She is my inspiration.Because of Josie Lanzetta, I have come to believe in God.

While knocking on doors and witnessing to them, this petite lady instilled fear into the hearts of adult men everywhere she went.Al Lazaro, whom she later lead to faith in Christ, informed me he had fled from her because she was harassing him.″That small lady gave me the creeps.″ What exactly did she do?Inform them about Jesus’ existence and warn them of the consequences of doing so.

Because of Billy Graham, I have come to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. His coworker on the Graham dairy farm in Charlotte used to describe him as follows: ″When Billy was 16 years old, he was a typical teenager.″ He had one and only one thought on his mind: he wanted to be the driver of the farm tractor.″ That was the method through which the guy persuaded young Billy to accompany him on his evangelistic journey.″If you’ll accompany me tonight, I’ll give you the keys to the truck the next day.″ Billy was miraculously spared that night, and the rest, as they say, is history.″There was absolutely nothing out of the ordinary about young Billy,″ the employee used to say.In Charlotte, North Carolina, if you had a hundred kids in a room and were told that God would use one of them to convey the gospel to millions, you would have been unable to pick him out of the crowd. It was as if the Lord said, ‘Eeny meenie minie moe….I’ll take that one,’ or anything along those lines.

″It was just to demonstrate what He was capable of.″ I believe in a God who can use nobodies to bring down civilizations, and I believe in him.We were rescued by God, according to Peter, in order for us to ″proclaim the excellencies (of) Him who has called us out of darkness into His glorious light″ (I Peter 2:9).Proclaiming His majesty and excellence.Isn’t that what we’re all about, after all?The instructors and mentors, friends and coworkers, and dearest loved ones who believe and demonstrate by their actions that Jesus Christ is alive and this is true have given me reason to believe.I believe because of all of these people.

Why Is Jesus Christ Important in My Life?

  • ″What is the significance of Jesus Christ in my life?″ 10–13 (New Era, January 2015).
  • It wasn’t long ago that I saw a blog article in which the author discussed how the Savior plays a crucial part in her everyday life.
  • I was relieved that she was ready to share her sentiments, but I was disturbed by one reader’s response: ″He has never been or will ever be of any significance in my life—never has been and will never be.″ That reader couldn’t be more incorrect in his or her assumptions.
  • We will all require the Savior at some point in our lives.
  • We all make errors that we can’t undo, suffer losses that we can’t recoup, and endure pains, persecution, tragedies, burdens, and disappointments that we can’t bear on our own, but we can work together to overcome them.
  • The good news is that we don’t have to deal with them on our own anymore.

It is possible to say in a moment of weakness that no one understands what it is like.″ ‘No one seems to get it.’ Elder David A.Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles remarked, ″But the Son of God totally understands and knows what we are going through because He has suffered and borne our specific afflictions.″ As Alma 34:14 explains, ″And because of His unlimited and eternal sacrifice (see Alma 34:14), He has perfect empathy and is able to extend His arm of mercy to us.″ 1 Our trust in Jesus is crucial to us because, through His Atonement and teachings, as well as His hope, peace, and example, He aids us in making changes in our lives, overcoming hardships, and moving ahead with confidence on our path back to Him and His Father.

Jesus Makes Repentance Possible

  • Because we all fall short of God’s expectations and require the gift of repentance provided by the Atonement, Jesus is extremely vital to all who truly want to follow Him.
  • Whenever we make a mistake or fall, Satan wants us to believe that we are not capable of getting back up and continuing on our way.
  • Aside from that, he wants us to forget that the Gospel is also known as ″the gospel of repentance″ (D&C 13:1; emphasis added).
  • Despite this, we are confident that ″the mercy of Christ is genuine, and that it provides both forgiveness and purification to the penitent sinner.″ 2 The power of Jesus Christ’s Atonement is available to everyone of us; however, we must make the decision to let it to be put to use in our lives.
  • Consider presenting a particular gift to a buddy—a gift that your acquaintance truly needs and that you prepared through personal sacrifice on his or her behalf.
  • Now imagine your friend answering, ″Thank you, but I’m not particularly interested in your present,″ or anything along those lines.

What would your reaction be?The fact that we don’t invite Jesus to assist us in being clean via repentance is the same as rejecting His gift of salvation.

Jesus Teaches Truth

  • Jesus asked the Twelve Apostles, ″Will ye also go away?″ on one occasion when a number of individuals declined to continue walking with Him for any extended period of time. ″Lord, where will we go from here?″ Peter inquired. It says in John 6:67–68, ″Thou hast the words of eternal life.″ The scriptures, the teachings of living prophets, and the whisperings of the Holy Ghost are all places where you might find the Savior’s ″words of eternal life.″ It is through them that we can achieve ″pleasure in this life and everlasting life in the world to come,″3 and it is through them that we can return safely to our Heavenly Father and Savior. What are some of the most important truths that the Savior imparted? The following are the four that President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Second Counselor in the First Presidency, mentioned in a recent general conference speech: We will have gorgeous, perfect, and eternal bodies, unburdened by disease or incapacity.″
  • ″Our tears of anguish and loss will be replaced with an abundance of gladness and joy.″
  • ″Through the Atonement., we will be able to live forever with our loved ones.″
