7 Promises for Those Who Follow Jesus

God’s promises are abundantly recorded in the Bible. These promises are extremely essential to us because they assist to keep us grounded and provide us with reason to remain hopeful through difficult circumstances. In reality, we should be constructing our lives on the foundation of God’s dependable promises. The following are seven promises made to individuals who choose to follow Christ:

1. Life

Jesus then stated to his disciples, “Whoever wishes to become my disciple must deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow me.'” In other words, whomever wishes to save their life will lose it, but whoever wishes to risk their life for me will find it.” Matt. 16:24–25 (New International Version). Despite the fact that it appears to be an enormous paradox, we will only discover life when we stop chasing it. The moment we stop pursuing after the things that we assume would bring us life and instead follow the one who created life, we find life as it was intended to be (John 10:10).

2. Acceptance

“Whomever comes to me will never be driven away,” says the Father, “and whoever comes to me will never be driven away” (John 6:37, NIV). This verse was originally referred to as “one of his favorite verses” by Charles Spurgeon. As we go through this text, we see Christ’s guarantee that he will not turn away those who approach to him. This acceptance may be found throughout Jesus’ encounters with people in the Gospels. Come to him and he will welcome us with open arms if we come to him. Inviting everyone, Christ embraces everyone who chooses to follow him, and he welcomes all who do so.

3. Reward

“Whoever comes to me will never be driven away,” says the Father, referring to those who are given to me (John 6:37, NIV). As long as you follow my commandments, you will continue to be in my love, just as I have followed my Father’s commands and continue to be in his love. “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be full,” Jesus says in John 15:9–11 (New International Version). We’re taught to reside in God’s love on a continuous basis, and he assures us that we may do so by following his rules and regulations.

Why does he want to be sure that he is in this relationship for the long haul?

Jesus assures us that joy will come as a result of our decision to remain in God’s love.

7. Trials

Every person who seeks to live a virtuous life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, as the Bible states (2 Timothy 3:12, NIV). When it comes down to it, following Jesus puts you in direct conflict with the rest of the world. Persecutory measures might range from mild to severe. Some who follow Jesus will lose friends, family, careers, opportunities, and sometimes even their lives as a result of their faith. This reality is one of the reasons why these other promises are made in the first place.

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for doing what is right, because theirs is the kingdom of heaven,” Jesus declares in Matthew 5.

Faith in Jesus Christ’s ability to cleanse, cure, and strengthen us is the starting point for true repentance and forgiveness.
In spite of this, putting one’s confidence in God might seem overwhelming.
The words of the prophet Alma in the Book of Mormon, on the other hand, set such anxieties to rest.
I am reminded of the Lord’s scripture promise that if we “have faith as a grain of mustard seed,” then we would be able to “say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto us.” 7The Lord sees our frailty as mortal beings.
He, on the other hand, is well aware of our enormous potential.
The mustard seed signifies a modest, yet rising, amount of faith in the world.
But He does want us to put our faith in Him.

Jesus Christ will strengthen your power to move mountains in your life as a result of your faith, even if your personal obstacles appear to be as formidable as Mount Everest.

Your mountains will be different, but the solution to each of your difficulties will be to strengthen your faith.

Lazy students and sluggish followers will constantly struggle to muster even a sliver of trust in their hearts.

No exemption applies when it comes to becoming a sincere follower of Jesus Christ.

I’d like to make five ideas to assist you in developing your faith and trust.

Learn how to become a more active learner.

Understand the doctrine of Christ so that you can appreciate its significance for your life.

He took your misfortune, your faults, your weaknesses, and your crimes onto himself.

Your faith, trust, and willingness to follow Him are what enable you to achieve that power.

Discover the concept of miracles.

The most important aspect of that faith is believing in His plan and timetable—how and when He will provide you with the miracle assistance you need.

10 Because the more you study about Jesus Christ, the simpler it will be for you to put your faith in his mercy, His unlimited love, and His resurrecting, healing, and redeeming power.

Second, make the decision to believe in Jesus Christ.

Take your questions to the Lord and to other trustworthy sources for answers.

Stop reinforcing your doubts by rehearsing them with other people who have doubts.

Third, have trust in what you’re doing.

Consider the implications of this.

Then, by doing something that necessitates more faith, you will acquire even greater faith.

Ordinances are keys to unlocking God’s power in your life.

It takes effort to have faith.

“However, everyone who asks receives; and everyone who seeks finds; and to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” 13God understands what you need to hear in order for your faith to grow.

Those who do not believe in God would argue that faith is for the weak.

If the Savior’s Apostles had questioned Him, would they have continued to preach His message after His death, even at the risk of their lives?

Is it possible that approximately 2,000 Saints would have perished along the pioneer trail15 if they had not believed that the gospel of Jesus Christ had been restored?

Do not downplay the faith that you already possess.

When you follow prophets rather than experts and popular opinion, you are demonstrating trust.

When the world proclaims that God’s mandate of chastity is no longer valid, it requires faith to live a chaste life in this day and age.

The ability to beg for the life of a loved one requires faith, and much more fortitude to accept a disappointing response requires faith.

Each of the island nations has been battered by torrential rainfall for many days.

Just as the meetings got underway in Samoa, Fiji, and Tahiti, the rain ceased completely.

Although 13,000 devoted Saints arrived hours early to secure a seat, they endured patiently under a continuous rainstorm before sitting through a very wet two-hour meeting in the rain.

The mountains in our life do not always move in the manner or at the rate that we would want.

Faithalwaysimproves our ability to access divine power.

The Lord never slumbers or sleeps, and He never will.

He is performing miracles today, and He will continue to perform miracles in the future.

Any and all things are possible for those who have faith.

He has ascended to the right hand of the Father to shepherd His Church.

Chapter 56: Revelation 17–22

Mark 10:35-45

Jesus and his *disciples were on their way to Jerusalem at this point. Two *apostles, James and John, who were brothers, approached Jesus with a question: If they were to seat one on each side of Jesus when he began to govern his *kingdom, would it be considered an honor? James and John were under the impression that a *kingdom would be established on earth immediately. [The *kingdom* that Jesus talked of is the *kingdom* of God. Every person who loves God is a member of his *kingdom. God’s *kingdom, on the other hand, is not yet complete.] The *apostles want to be in a position of authority.

Evidence suggests that these brothers may have been relatives of Jesus, according to some scholars.

This is something that happens frequently in today’s world.

Take note of what the request is requesting. They want a position of great honor and power for themselves. They had not expressed an interest in serving in the *kingdom. They did not request that Jesus make use of them. They sought for respect and authority.

The other *disciples’ reaction

The other *apostles were enraged at this point. They were also interested in these positions! The *apostles were all driven by their own interests. They wondered aloud, ‘What is there for me in this whole thing?’ This was a power battle on a grand scale. As a result, people wondered, ‘Who would be the greatest?’ (See, for example, Matthew 18:1-3 and Matthew 19:27-30, particularly verse 27.) The brothers were perplexed by their request and acted accordingly. This was revealed to them by Jesus.

Jesus is the Son of God.
This was beyond the comprehension of the brothers.
He asked his brothers whether they would be willing to suffer alongside him.
The following is what Jesus said: Mark 10:39, 40 ‘You shall drink from the same cup that I do.
However, I have no control over who seats to my right or left.

Power in God’s *kingdom

After then, Jesus made another comment. This demonstrates that the *Kingdom of God is vastly superior than any *kingdom on this planet. 10:42-44 (Mark 10:42-44) Jesus gathered his *disciples in one place. ‘You are aware of this,’ he said. The rulers of the Gentiles [Gentiles are individuals who do not belong to the Jewish faith] wield enormous authority. Their significant authorities issue a large number of commands to the populace. You must not behave in such a manner. Anyone who aspires to greatness among you must first serve you as a servant.

In my nation, there are many magnificent mansions to behold.
They were compelled to labor extremely hard for little compensation by wealthy individuals.
That is what occurs when one group of people has control over another.
Until Jesus died on the *cross, the *apostles had the wrong objectives, according to the Bible.
He teaches that our aim should be to serve others in the *Kingdom of God, and that we should strive to do so.
Our objective should not be to impose our will on others.
This would be a blessing to them and would enable them to assist others.
They should be of use to others.)

Jesus came to serve

Last but not least, Jesus made another comment. This demonstrated how he had personally come to serve. Mark 10:45 a.m. Even the Son of Man did not come to be served by others, as the Scriptures indicate. He came to the world to help others. He came to die, but he also came to save mankind from the consequences of their *sin. Take a look at this fantastic item. The fact that he was born in our world does not detract from his lowly beginnings.

He came to die in order to save humanity from the consequences of their *sin*.

Then God will be able to provide us with *eternal life. John 3:16 is a biblical passage that teaches that God is love. ‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,’ the Bible says. He promises that anybody who trusts in him will not perish but will have *eternal life.’

Christian leadership

This is the type of leadership that Jesus exemplifies for us. He wants us to have leaders who are similar to him. And he wants us to take on the role of leaders in the same way. These concepts are diametrically opposed to the concepts held by the *apostles! It’s important to remember that Jesus imparted this lesson to the *apostles. He was not imparting knowledge to others. He wished for his *disciples to be modest in their actions. Before he died on the *cross, Jesus painstakingly reiterated the message multiple times to his disciples.

There are several tasks that someone must complete.
Rather than simply giving commands, we need to be prepared to provide service to others.
We must be prepared to do something else in order to assist the church.
He did not come to command other people about, but rather to serve and care for them.
He even sacrificed his life for the sake of others.

Appendix

During the tale of James and John’s request in Matthew (Matthew 20:20-28), they make mention of their mother. This was also desired by her. She desired for her boys to be prominent figures in God’s *kingdom. But who was the mother in this case? We are aware of the identities of the three women who were present at the *cross. The names of the books of the Bible vary from one another. Matthew 27:55-56: Jesus and his *disciples were well-provided for by these women. One of the women was referred to as ‘the mother of Zebedee’s sons.’ ] [According to Mark 1:19, Zebedee was the father of James and John.] Mark 15:40: Salome was most likely the name of the mother of Zebedee’s boys when they were young.

Because of this, James and John have done something quite astute here.

And people are still behaving in the same manner now!

25: Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on.

26: Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them.

27: Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

31: Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat?

or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

33: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

2: For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

4: Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

6: Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

9: Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

11: If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

13: Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there are which walk in thereat: 14: Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there are that find it.

16: By their fruits will you be able to identify them.

Every good tree bears fruit that is beneficial, while a corrupt tree bears fruit that is harmful to the environment.

The fire is hewn down and thrown into the fire for every tree that does not bear good fruit.

21: Not everyone who calls out to me in a loud voice, “Lord, Lord,” will be admitted into the kingdom of heaven, but only those who carry out the will of my heavenly Father, who is in heaven.

I will then confess to them, “I never knew you; away from me, ye who do evil.” 24-For this reason, I will liken anybody who hears these words of my and follows them to the wise man who built his house on a firm foundation.

Those who hear my words but do not act on them will be compared to an idiot who built his home on sand.
