1Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.

4Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.

6Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb.

He saw and believed.

11Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying.

13They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” “They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” 14At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.

Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” 16Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”).

Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ” 18Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.

The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

25So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” 26A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them.

3. Those writings, on the other hand, are written in order for you to come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life through his name.
4. 6After that, he appeared to more than five hundred siblings and sisters at the same time, the vast majority of them are still alive, but some have passed away.
5. 14And if Christ has not been risen from the dead, our preaching, as well as your faith, is pointless.
6. However, he did not resurrect him if it is true that the dead do not rise.
7. 18Then there are some who have fallen asleep in Christ who are no longer alive.
8. Christ, on the other hand, has really been resurrected from the grave, and he is the firstfruits of those who have died.
9. 54When the perishable has been clothed in the imperishable, and the mortal has been clothed in immortality, then the proverbial phrase “Death has been swallowed up in triumph” will come true.

Regarding his Son, who was a descendant of David throughout his earthly life,4and who, by the Spirit of holiness, was appointed the Son of God in authority by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord, 3God has shown himself to us in three ways: 8Keep in mind that Jesus Christ, who was risen from the grave and descended from David, should be remembered.

1. In fact, he who fell is the same one who rose higher than all the sky in order to fill the entire cosmos.
2. Even after my skin has been destroyed, I will still be able to see God because I have been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in God’s working, who raised him from the dead.

Why does it matter that Jesus rose from the dead?

When some of our colleagues went to the tomb, they found it just as the ladies had indicated it would be; nevertheless, they did not see Jesus.” 25He answered to them, “How stupid you are, and how slow to believe everything that the prophets have declared!

The disciples were approaching the town where Jesus was taking them when Jesus carried on as if he were going even further away.

30When he sat at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and proceeded to offer it to them.

32They questioned each other, “Were not our hearts burning inside us as he chatted with us on the way and revealed the Scriptures to us?” 33They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem.

“The Lord has risen from the dead and has appeared to Simon,” says the Lord.

36While they were still arguing about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 37They were surprised and worried, believing they saw a ghost.

39Take a close look at my hands and feet.

Touch me and see; a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” 40After he had stated this, he demonstrated his hands and feet to them.

He told them that “all that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled,” which he had declared to them while he was still among them.

The Messiah will suffer and be raised from the dead on the third day,47and repentance for forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all countries, starting at Jerusalem, 46he explained to them from the Scriptures.

49I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” 50After he had brought them out to the area around Bethany, he blessed them by raising his hands in the air and blessing them.

52Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.

The tomb was empty when Mary Magdalene arrived at it early on the first day of the week, when it was still dark.

2So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” 3As a result, Peter and the other disciple began their journey to the tomb.

5He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in.

He saw the strips of linen lying there,7as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head.

8Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside.

19On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20After he said this, he showed them his hands and side.

21Once more, Jesus exclaimed, “Peace be with you!

The Bible says, “If you forgive anyone’s transgressions, those transgressions are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, those transgressions remain unforgivable.” 24Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came.

Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands.

“Stop second-guessing yourself and begin believing.” “My Lord and my God!” Thomas said to him.

However, all is written in order for you to come to the conclusion that Jesus Christ is indeed the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by doing so, you will be given life in his name.

6After that, Jesus appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, the vast majority of them are still alive, though some have passed into eternal rest.

In the meantime, if Christ has not been risen, our message, along with your faith, will be rendered ineffective.

Nevertheless, if the dead aren’t raised, he didn’t raise him either.

18However, if Christ has not been risen from the dead, your faith is in vain; you remain in your sins.

19If we have faith in Christ solely for this life, we are the most pitiable of all persons.

Since death was brought about by a human being, it follows that the resurrected will likewise be brought about by a human being.

55 “Where has your victory gone, O Death?

Because of our Lord Jesus Christ, he provides us with the victory we seek.

The gospel I preach is based on this, which is why it says: “When he went to the highest point, he took many captives and presented presents to his people.” 9(Other than the fact that he fell to the lower, terrestrial realms, what does “he ascended” mean?

25I know that my redeemer is alive, and that at the end of the world, he will stand on the ground.

As a result, he forgave us of all our sins,14and he removed the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he removed it from us by nailing it to the cross.

As a result of Christ’s resurrection from the dead, we know that he will never die again, and that death no longer has dominion over him.

In dying to sin for all time, he set himself free; but in living to God for all time, he sets himself free. As a result, consider yourselves to be no longer slaves to sin, but rather alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Why Does it Matter That Jesus Rose from the Dead?

The gospel contains many life-changing pronouncements made by Jesus Christ throughout His earthly mission – one of which is this profound assertion, uttered by no other human being in history: “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even if he dies as a result of his faith. Moreover, anybody who lives and believes in Me will never die” (John 11:25-26). • One man’s disobedience resulted in the introduction of sin into the world, which ultimately led to the death of all mankind (i.e.,separation from the holy God).

Victory Over Sin and Death

There are many uncertainties in life, but one certainty is that we shall all die at some point as humans (unless God is willing to take us up directly to heaven at therapture). Christ’s resurrection is the solution that God supplies to the dilemma of sin and evil, which causes pain and death on the part of mankind. We are told through God’s Word that death is the ultimate adversary to be vanquished and that it has already been defeated through the power of Christ’s resurrection (Romans 6:8-9;1 Corinthians 15:54-57).

God’s Power and Authority Over Life and Death

Throughout history, God’s sovereignty and authority have been demonstrated through Christ’s death and resurrection. God, the Creator, has the ability to give and take away life at will. Amazingly, Jesus himself confesses, “Therefore My Father loves Me, since I lay down My life in order to take it back.” No one can take it away from Me; I must lay it down of My own own. I have the ability to put something down and the ability to pick it up again. The following directive has been given to me by My Father” (John 10:17-18).

So, who exactly is this man, and what gives him the right to both give and take His own life in accordance with the sovereign will of God? Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and His resurrection, at the end of the day, confirms His divine status.

True Hope for Eternal Life

We all want to live “happily ever after,” and living an endless existence in perpetual pleasure is arguably everyone’s fantasy. Ecclesiastes 3:11 and Proverbs 4:23 both witness that we are immortal creatures, and that we do not just exist to perish – the question is where and with whom we will spend eternity. Humans, in contrast to animals and plants, are more than simply their physical bodies; we have souls and spirits, which allow us to speak with the Creator and develop a loving relationship with Him via prayer.

Consequently, it is apparent that the triune God (Father, Son, and Spirit) works together for our better benefit (salvation), which ultimately leads to everlasting life (Romans 8:28).

The resurrection of Christ confirms God’s promise of everlasting life (i.e., the ability to be in His presence eternally) for Christians, allowing us to live our lives with confidence.

New Life with Meaning and Purpose

Jesus made it clear that fresh (spiritual) birth is required for anybody who wishes to see the kingdom of God come to pass (John 3:3). Every believer can be born again to a living hope via Christ’s resurrection (1 Peter 1:3) and be transformed into a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17) with a new identity as God’s children as a result of his or her resurrection (John 1:12-13). The Spirit of God is transforming our new life in Christ, causing us to be conformed to the image of the Son of God as we grow in faith (Romans 8:29;2 Corinthians 3:18).

A good example of this life transformation may be seen in Paul’s life, who longs to know Christ and to be overwhelmed by the power of His resurrection (Philippians 3:10).

What Does Christ’s Resurrection Mean to Believers Today?

We can have a sure hope for resurrection and eternal life because Jesus rose from the dead; we can put our faith in God’s promise and power to restore all things; we can look forward with anticipation to the full and final redemption of all creation, where we will receive a new, glorious body and spend eternity with our Savior and dearly loved ones; and, while on earth, we can live a meaningful life in Him and walk in love because of our faith in Him.
