He has resurrected from the dead!

Look at the location where they buried him.

Because they were terrified, they didn’t say anything to anybody else.

Ten days later, she went to tell people who had been with him and were lamenting and sobbing about his death.

  1. Mark 16:8 (KJV) Some manuscripts have the following ending between verses 8 and 9, and one text has it after verse 8 (omitting verses 9-20), while others have it between verses 8 and 9. Then they spread the word about all of Peter’s instructions to everyone in the vicinity. Following this, Jesus himself sent out the precious and imperishable message of eternal salvation from east to west via them, as well as through the apostles. Amen

After the Sabbath had ended, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to the tomb early the next morning, which was the first day of the week. When an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and went to the tomb, he rolled the stone back and took up a position on it, causing a severe earthquake to occur. 3His look was as flashy as lightning, and his clothing were as white as the snow around him. 4When he appeared, the guards trembled and looked like dead men, such was their terror at his appearance.

  1. Come and have a look at the spot where he was buried.
  2. 9 Suddenly, Jesus appeared in front of them.
  3. They walked up to him, clutched his feet, and prostrated themselves before him.
  4. I have overcome the world.” Tell my brothers to travel to Galilee, where they will be able to meet me.

12After the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they handed over a large sum of money to the soldiers, telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’14If this report reaches the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.

  1. And this myth has been extensively spread among the Jews to this very day.
  2. 17When they saw him, they adored him; but some hesitated.
  3. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all countries, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,20and teaching them to follow everything I have told you.
  4. 2Very early on the first day of the week, just after daybreak, they were on their way to the tomb3and they asked each other, “Who would move the stone aside from the entrance of the tomb?” 4But when they glanced up, they saw that the stone, which was extremely huge, had been rolled away.
  5. 6“Don’t be alarmed,” he said.
  6. He has resurrected from the dead!
  7. Look at the location where they buried him.

Because they were terrified, they didn’t say anything to anybody else.

Ten days later, she went to tell people who had been with him and were lamenting and sobbing about his death.

12Afterward Jesus appeared in a different form to two of them while they were walking in the country.

14Later, while the Eleven were eating, Jesus came to them and reprimanded them for their lack of faith and stubborn reluctance to accept those who had seen him after he had risen from the dead.

16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

20Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.

2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb,3but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

5In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?

Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:7‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” 8Then they remembered his words.

10It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles.

12Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb.

13Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem.

15As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them;16but they were kept from recognizing him.

18One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?” 19 “What things?” he asked.

“He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people.

And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place.

They went to the tomb early this morning23but didn’t find his body.

24Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.” 25He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken!

28As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther.

30When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them.

32They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” 33They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem.

The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.” 35Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.

38He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?

It is I myself!

41And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42They gave him a piece of broiled fish,43and he took it and ate it in their presence.

46He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,47and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

49I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” 50When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them.

52Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.

1Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.

4Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.

6Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb.

The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen.

He saw and believed.

11Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying.

13They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” “They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” 14At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.

Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” 16Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”).

Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ” 18Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.

The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

25So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” 26A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them.

  1. You can put your hand into my side if you reach out your hand.
  2. 29Then Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen but have believed.” “Blessed are those who have not seen but have believed,” Jesus said.
  3. Those writings, on the other hand, are written in order for you to come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life through his name.
  4. 6After that, he appeared to more than five hundred siblings and sisters at the same time, the vast majority of them are still alive, but some have passed away.
  5. 14And if Christ has not been risen from the dead, our preaching, as well as your faith, is pointless.
  6. However, he did not resurrect him if it is true that the dead do not rise.
  7. 18Then there are some who have fallen asleep in Christ who are no longer alive.
  8. Christ, on the other hand, has really been resurrected from the grave, and he is the firstfruits of those who have died.
  9. 54When the perishable has been clothed in the imperishable, and the mortal has been clothed in immortality, then the proverbial phrase “Death has been swallowed up in triumph” will come true.
  10. Thanks be to God for this, though!

Regarding his Son, who was a descendant of David throughout his earthly life,4and who, by the Spirit of holiness, was appointed the Son of God in authority by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord, 3God has shown himself to us in three ways: 8Keep in mind that Jesus Christ, who was risen from the grave and descended from David, should be remembered.

  1. In fact, he who fell is the same one who rose higher than all the sky in order to fill the entire cosmos.
  2. Even after my skin has been destroyed, I will still be able to see God because I have been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in God’s working, who raised him from the dead.
  3. He has forgiven us of all our sins,14having erased the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away by nailing it to the cross; he has freed us from that burden.
  4. 3Or do you not realize that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have also been baptized into his death and resurrection?
  5. 5For if we have been connected with him in a death similar to his, we shall undoubtedly also be united with him in a resurrection similar to his, and so forth.
  6. 8If we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him in the future.

10With his death, he put an end to sin for all time; but by his life, he puts an end to sin for all time. 11In the same way, consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Why does it matter that Jesus rose from the dead?

After the Sabbath had ended, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to the tomb early the next morning, which was the first day of the new week. When an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and went to the tomb, he rolled the stone back and took up a position on it, causing a violent earthquake to erupt. 3It was as if he were struck by lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow. 4When he appeared, the guards shook and looked like dead men, such was their terror. Five women were approached by an angel who said, “Do not be afraid; I am aware that you are searching for Jesus, who has been crucified.

  • We invite you to visit the location where he was laid to rest.
  • When they looked up, Jesus appeared in front of their faces.
  • 10Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid.
  • Tell my brothers to travel to Galilee, where they will be able to meet me.

9When Jesus awakened early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven devils.

11After hearing that Jesus was alive and that she had seen him, they were skeptical and did not believe her.

13These returned and recounted it to the rest; but they did not believe them either.

15He replied to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creatures.

17And these signs will precede those who believe: In my name they will cast out demons; they will talk in new tongues;18they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink lethal poison, it will not affect them at all; they will put their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” 19After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was lifted up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.

  • 20Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and proved his message by the signs that followed it.

18One of them, called Cleopas, questioned him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the horrors that have transpired there in these days?” 19 “What things?” he inquired.

“He was a prophet, mighty in speech and deed before God and all the people.

Furthermore, it has now been three days after the events of the previous day.

They went to the tomb first thing in the morning this morning23but were unable to locate his body.

When some of our colleagues went to the tomb, they found it just as the ladies had indicated it would be; nevertheless, they did not see Jesus.” 25He answered to them, “How stupid you are, and how slow to believe everything that the prophets have declared!

The disciples were approaching the town where Jesus was taking them when Jesus carried on as if he were going even further away.

30When he sat at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and proceeded to offer it to them.

32They questioned each other, “Were not our hearts burning inside us as he chatted with us on the way and revealed the Scriptures to us?” 33They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem.

“The Lord has risen from the dead and has appeared to Simon,” says the Lord.

36While they were still arguing about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 37They were surprised and worried, believing they saw a ghost.

39Take a close look at my hands and feet.

Touch me and see; a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” 40After he had stated this, he demonstrated his hands and feet to them.

He told them that “all that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled,” which he had declared to them while he was still among them.

The Messiah will suffer and be raised from the dead on the third day,47and repentance for forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all countries, starting at Jerusalem, 46he explained to them from the Scriptures.

49I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” 50After he had brought them out to the area around Bethany, he blessed them by raising his hands in the air and blessing them.

52Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.

The tomb was empty when Mary Magdalene arrived at it early on the first day of the week, when it was still dark.

2So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” 3As a result, Peter and the other disciple began their journey to the tomb.

5He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in.

He saw the strips of linen lying there,7as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head.

8Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside.

9(They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead) (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.) 10Then the disciples went back to where they were staying.

As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb12and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.

15He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?

17Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father.

19On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20After he said this, he showed them his hands and side.

21Once more, Jesus exclaimed, “Peace be with you!

The Bible says, “If you forgive anyone’s transgressions, those transgressions are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, those transgressions remain unforgivable.” 24Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came.

Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands.

“Stop second-guessing yourself and begin believing.” “My Lord and my God!” Thomas said to him.

However, all is written in order for you to come to the conclusion that Jesus Christ is indeed the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by doing so, you will be given life in his name.

6After that, Jesus appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, the vast majority of them are still alive, though some have passed into eternal rest.

In the meantime, if Christ has not been risen, our message, along with your faith, will be rendered ineffective.

Nevertheless, if the dead aren’t raised, he didn’t raise him either.

18However, if Christ has not been risen from the dead, your faith is in vain; you remain in your sins.

19If we have faith in Christ solely for this life, we are the most pitiable of all persons.

Since death was brought about by a human being, it follows that the resurrected will likewise be brought about by a human being.

55 “Where has your victory gone, O Death?

Because of our Lord Jesus Christ, he provides us with the victory we seek.

The gospel I preach is based on this, which is why it says: “When he went to the highest point, he took many captives and presented presents to his people.” 9(Other than the fact that he fell to the lower, terrestrial realms, what does “he ascended” mean?

25I know that my redeemer is alive, and that at the end of the world, he will stand on the ground.

As a result, he forgave us of all our sins,14and he removed the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he removed it from us by nailing it to the cross.

3Or do you not realize that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have also been baptized into his death and burial?

5For if we have been connected with him in a death like to his, we shall undoubtedly be united with him in a resurrection similar to his as well.

As a result of Christ’s resurrection from the dead, we know that he will never die again, and that death no longer has dominion over him.

In dying to sin for all time, he set himself free; but in living to God for all time, he sets himself free. As a result, consider yourselves to be no longer slaves to sin, but rather alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Why Does it Matter That Jesus Rose from the Dead?

The gospel contains many life-changing pronouncements made by Jesus Christ throughout His earthly mission – one of which is this profound assertion, uttered by no other human being in history: “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even if he dies as a result of his faith. Moreover, anybody who lives and believes in Me will never die” (John 11:25-26). Is it true that Jesus Christ rose from the dead? is one of the most significant issues that has been questioned over and over again throughout history.

  • One man’s disobedience resulted in the introduction of sin into the world, which ultimately led to the death of all mankind (i.e.,separation from the holy God).
  • (1 Corinthians 15:20-21).
  • The resurrection of Jesus Christ serves as the foundation of Christian belief.
  • “However, if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not risen from the grave,” Paul wrote.
  • The purpose of this section is to explain why the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the ultimate hope of mankind.

Victory Over Sin and Death

There are many uncertainties in life, but one certainty is that we shall all die at some point as humans (unless God is willing to take us up directly to heaven at therapture). Christ’s resurrection is the solution that God supplies to the dilemma of sin and evil, which causes pain and death on the part of mankind. We are told through God’s Word that death is the ultimate adversary to be vanquished and that it has already been defeated through the power of Christ’s resurrection (Romans 6:8-9;1 Corinthians 15:54-57).

God’s Power and Authority Over Life and Death

Throughout history, God’s sovereignty and authority have been demonstrated through Christ’s death and resurrection. God, the Creator, has the ability to give and take away life at will. Amazingly, Jesus himself confesses, “Therefore My Father loves Me, since I lay down My life in order to take it back.” No one can take it away from Me; I must lay it down of My own own. I have the ability to put something down and the ability to pick it up again. The following directive has been given to me by My Father” (John 10:17-18).

So, who exactly is this man, and what gives him the right to both give and take His own life in accordance with the sovereign will of God? Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and His resurrection, at the end of the day, confirms His divine status.

True Hope for Eternal Life

We all want to live “happily ever after,” and living an endless existence in perpetual pleasure is arguably everyone’s fantasy. Ecclesiastes 3:11 and Proverbs 4:23 both witness that we are immortal creatures, and that we do not just exist to perish – the question is where and with whom we will spend eternity. Humans, in contrast to animals and plants, are more than simply their physical bodies; we have souls and spirits, which allow us to speak with the Creator and develop a loving relationship with Him via prayer.

Consequently, it is apparent that the triune God (Father, Son, and Spirit) works together for our better benefit (salvation), which ultimately leads to everlasting life (Romans 8:28).

The resurrection of Christ confirms God’s promise of everlasting life (i.e., the ability to be in His presence eternally) for Christians, allowing us to live our lives with confidence.

New Life with Meaning and Purpose

Jesus made it clear that fresh (spiritual) birth is required for anybody who wishes to see the kingdom of God come to pass (John 3:3). Every believer can be born again to a living hope via Christ’s resurrection (1 Peter 1:3) and be transformed into a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17) with a new identity as God’s children as a result of his or her resurrection (John 1:12-13). The Spirit of God is transforming our new life in Christ, causing us to be conformed to the image of the Son of God as we grow in faith (Romans 8:29;2 Corinthians 3:18).

A good example of this life transformation may be seen in Paul’s life, who longs to know Christ and to be overwhelmed by the power of His resurrection (Philippians 3:10).

What Does Christ’s Resurrection Mean to Believers Today?

We can have a sure hope for resurrection and eternal life because Jesus rose from the dead; we can put our faith in God’s promise and power to restore all things; we can look forward with anticipation to the full and final redemption of all creation, where we will receive a new, glorious body and spend eternity with our Savior and dearly loved ones; and, while on earth, we can live a meaningful life in Him and walk in love because of our faith in Him.

  1. All believers in Christ are tasked with the vocation of making disciples of all countries — to be “fishers of men” (Mark 1:17) — and this Great Commission is made possible since the resurrected Christ is constantly present with us eternally (Matthew 28:19-20;Mark 16:15).
  2. Was Christ’s death more important than His resurrection, or was it the other way around?
  3. So, what exactly is the distinction between a soul and a spirit?

9 Times People (Besides Jesus) Rose From the Dead in the Bible

The promise of Christianity is that all Christians will be resurrected from the dead at some point in the future. God the Father has proved his ability to bring the dead back to life on numerous occasions, as these 10 instances from the Bible reveal. Of course, the most well-known resurrection is that ofJesus, who was resurrected from the grave. Through his self-sacrificial death and resurrection, Jesus overcame death and made it possible for his followers to know eternal life for themselves.

Who was it that Jesus summoned back from the dead?

Here are all ten Bible stories about people who were brought back to life by God.

10 People Raised From the Dead

Photograph by small frog / Getty Images While living in Zarephath, a pagan city in Phoenicia, the prophet Elijah the Tishbite had been taking refuge at the home of a widow during a period of tremendous famine in the land. Unexpectedly, the woman’s son became ill and eventually lost his ability to breathe. She accused Elijah of inflicting God’s wrath on her as a result of her transgression. Elijah carried the youngster to the upstairs room where he was staying and lay him on the bed, stretching himself out three times over his body.

Elijah’s prayers were answered by God.

The prophet was pronounced by the lady to be a man of God, and his words were declared to be the truth.

Shunammite Woman’s Son

Getty Images / BibleArtLibrary / Getty Images A wealthy couple in Shunem allowed Elisha to reside in their upper chamber while he was on his mission. Elisha was the prophet after Elijah. He prayed for the woman to get pregnant, and God granted his request. Several years later, the little kid complained of a headache and subsequently died as a result of the agony. The lady hurried to Mount Carmel to see Elisha, who had dispatched his servant ahead of her, but the boy remained silent. Elisha finally went to visit the child who had died.

The boy’s body began to heat up, and he sneezed seven times (signifying that he was witnessing a flawless work of God) before opening his eyes.

Then she scooped up her kid and walked out of the room, joyous and grateful for all God had done for her and her family.

Israelite Man

Every spring, Moabite invaders assaulted Israel, once interfering with a burial procession. Out of fear for their own lives, the burial team moved the body as fast as possible to Elisha’s tomb, which was the closest available location at the time. Instantaneously, as soon as the corpse came into contact with Elisha’s bones, the dead man sprang to life and rose to his feet.

This miracle served as a prophecy of Christ’s death and resurrection, which transformed the grave into a portal to eternal life.

The carriers came to a halt. Immediately after Jesus instructed the young man to rise, the son did so and started talking.

Everyone in the room was taken aback.

Jesus agreed, and Jairus was healed. On the way, a messenger informed them that the girl had died and that they should not worry them. “Don’t be scared; just believe, and your daughter will be cured,” Jesus told Jairus, according to the Bible. When Jesus arrived at the house, he saw mourners weeping on the porch.

“My child, get up,” Jesus murmured as he walked into the room and took her by the hand.

Her parents were instructed to provide her with something to eat but not to inform anybody about what had occurred.

Every power of nature was compelled to prostrate itself at His feet.

Oddly enough, when Jesus was informed that Lazarus was sick, he chose to remain in the same place for an additional two days. When Jesus returned, he stated unequivocally that Lazarus had died. By the time they arrived in Bethany, Lazarus had been dead for four days and had not been resurrected. Martha met them outside the village, where Jesus told her, “I’m going to tell you something.” “Your brother will rise to his feet once more.

The stone was rolled away despite the fact that Lazarus had been dead for several days.

He spoke his prayers to his Father aloud as he raised his eyes to the heavens. Then he ordered Lazarus to come out of the tomb. In the doorway, a man who had been dead walked out, his body wrapped in burial linen.

Saints in Jerusalem

Following Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, pious persons who had died earlier were brought back to life and appeared to a large number of people across the city. In his gospel, Matthew is ambiguous regarding how many people rose to their feet and what happened to them later. According to Bible scholars, this was another another portent of the great resurrection that was to come.

Did Jesus Really Rise From The Dead? Evidence of The Resurrection

Brittany Yesudasan is a model and actress. Many people all across the world participate in some form in the Easter celebration. The majority of people in the United States celebrate Easter with colored-egg hunts and Easter bunnies. Christians mark the day with jubilant worship services and a reminder that “He has risen from the dead.” Have you ever heard someone say something like this? Christians gather on Easter Sunday to remind one another that Jesus resurrected from the grave for several reasons.

The idea that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the tomb three days later is a fundamental part of the Christian faith.

The miracle of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead has been examined and argued for hundreds of years and continues to this day.

Fortunately, if you are prepared to hunt for it, there is a wealth of material available to you that may assist you in learning more about the subject.

Why Is It Important That Jesus Rose From the Dead?

You might have a lot of beliefs about Jesus while being skeptical about His resurrection. The fact that Jesus was crucified and died is acknowledged by many religions, but they do not accept that He rose from the dead. Jesus did indeed rise from the grave, and the fact that he did so is essential to the Christian belief. According to one group of Christians, Paul, an early Christian leader and author of most of the New Testament, stated, “If Christ has not been risen, our message is futile, and your faith is worthless” (1 Corinthians 15:14, New International Version).

On the contrary, he is asserting that the resurrection of Jesus is at the heart of the Christian religion — and that it is so vital that there is no Christian faith at all if it is not observed.

To Fulfill the Old Testament Prophecy

Today, you have the advantage of being able to read the whole Bible, including both the portion written before the time of Jesus, known as the Old Testament, and the portion written after, known as the New Testament, in one sitting. The 66 books that make up the Old and New Testaments are all part of a single tale that is continuous throughout. It is impossible to separate the Old Testament from the New Testament. A Messiah (a Savior) was on the way, and God promised His people throughout the Old Testament that He would come to transform the way they lived.

  1. God revealed to the Israelites the particular signs and characteristics that would distinguish the one who would be sent by Himself.
  2. He desires for you to be able to identify what He is doing at all times.
  3. There were many, yet He saw to it that they were all met.
  4. Even though the Messiah would experience death, His body would not deteriorate because He would rise from the dead again.
  5. As a reminder of His death, all he had were the markings on his hands and feet, as well as the wound in his side.

To Confirm Jesus’ Own Words

According to the Gospels — the four books of the New Testament that chronicle the account of Jesus’ life — Jesus frequently referenced passages from the Old Testament to His closest friends, referring to what would take place during the week of His crucifixion and rising, according to the Gospels. He spoke with them using parables, which are tales or brief sayings that demonstrate a truth about God and His character. This enabled them to make connections between events after they had occurred, allowing them to comprehend what had occurred.

However, many of them were unable to comprehend what He was saying.

Being crucified did not fit into this notion.

And that was even after Jesus stated the obvious:From that point on, Jesus began explaining to His disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the chief priests and teachers of the law, and that He must be crucified on the third day and raised to life on the fourth day, as well as many other things.

“Never, Lord!” he said emphatically.

(Matthew 16:21-22, New International Version) As Jesus explained what was going to take place to his followers, he also promised them that He would be resurrected to life again. However, many people had a difficult time comprehending this until they seen Him alive and well.

By His Life, We Live

Many people do not believe that the fact that Jesus is still alive has any substantial influence on their religious beliefs. Perhaps you believe that Christianity is governed by a complex set of laws and that good actions win one’s ticket into Heaven. Some faiths, such as Buddhism and Hinduism, function on this or a similar principle. Nevertheless, according to the Bible, when you become a disciple of Jesus, you enter into a relationship with him. This relationship is not dependent on your actions, but rather on what Jesus accomplished.

  1. All humans are deserving of God’s wrath as a result of this.
  2. Despite the fact that He was sinless, He died on the cross in place of you and me.
  3. Not only did He have to die for you, but He also had to vanquish death in order to save you from yourself.
  4. Because He is alive, His disciples will continue to live even after they have died physically.
  5. Furthermore, Christ is the Son of God who came to earth in the shape of a man.
  6. Humans are unable to return to life once they have died.
  7. By appearing alive and healthy, He validates what He has revealed about Himself as the Son of God in the past.

Is There Evidence That Jesus Rose From the Dead?

You may read the Gospels for yourself if you so desire. The Gospels are more than just a collection of stories. They are true, verifiable tales of real-life events that have impacted history and the Christian religion as we know it. The way they conduct themselves has a direct influence on your life. Many arguments exist to think that the events described in the Gospels regarding Jesus rising from the grave are accurate.

Jesus Really Died

The claims of Christians that Jesus died and resurrected from the grave have been explored by a number of people over the course of history. Various theories have been advanced regarding Jesus’ resurrection, but one thing that virtually everyone agrees on is that Jesus was a genuine person who lived and was executed by the Romans in the manner described in the New Testament. However, in order for Jesus to rise from the grave, he would have had to have died in the first place. There is significant suggestion that Jesus was never truly dead in the traditional sense.

  • But, without a doubt, Jesus died.
  • One of the Roman soldiers poked a spear into Jesus’ side as they prepared to lower him from the crucifixion, according to tradition.
  • When such a combination occurs, it implies cardiac failure, which should be sufficient evidence for anybody to conclude that Jesus was indeed dead – totally aside from the fact that He was impaled!
  • If they were found to have failed in their duty to execute someone, they would be held accountable – and they would very certainly lose their lives as a result.
  • Furthermore, all stories agree that Jesus was really buried in a tomb after his death.

Following Jesus’ death, the men who carried his body to the tomb, which was guarded by a number of Roman soldiers, were members of his following. He would not have been buried if his own disciples did not likewise accept without a shadow of a doubt that Jesus was, in fact, no longer alive.

It’s Not a Later Legend

Some have hypothesized that the tale of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead was a fiction that evolved later on — long after the real event of His death — and that it was fabricated to support a religious belief. If this were to be accurate, it would be a compelling cause to cast doubt on the narrative. No one would have been able to substantiate the events that took place decades ago. However, the tales of Jesus that were written down occurred within a few decades of his crucifixion, and the stories contained within those accounts had been passed about for years before they were recorded.

The Tomb Was Empty

The empty tomb is one of the most perplexing aspects of the tale for people who aren’t sure what to make of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. It is also one of the most difficult to comprehend. There are a lot of questions raised by this. Is it possible that they didn’t truly bury Jesus’ body at all? The grave where He is claimed to have been buried belonged to a famous Jewish leader, according to legend. His burial site would not have been hidden or difficult to find. Perhaps a more inconspicuous place would have been more appropriate if the disciples were attempting to concoct a narrative about an empty tomb.

  • The narrative of Jesus’ resurrection is said to have spread quickly among his disciples when it occurred, according to historical records.
  • In addition, Roman soldiers were stationed outside the tomb, and the entry was barred from the outside.
  • The fact that Romans and high-ranking Jewish authorities accused Jesus’ followers of taking the body was the most compelling evidence in support of the empty tomb.
  • They might have just stated that the corpse did not appear at the tomb, and if the body did not leave the tomb, they could have simply stated that the tomb they were guarding had been left undisturbed.
  • “Take a look around for yourself.” However, rather than contesting the fact that the tomb was empty, they accused others of stealing the deceased’s body.

People Saw Him Alive

Women were among the first to see Jesus’ resurrection, according to the Bible, who was raised from the dead. Interestingly, the fact that followers of Jesus assert that the earliest witnesses to the live Jesus were women provides evidence that the tale is correct. The testimony of a woman was not highly regarded in Jewish society at the time in question. For example, if the disciples had concocted the entire story in order to put out a realistic and persuasive case, they would very certainly have stated that someone, most likely a notable individual, was the first to see Jesus.

If not for the fact that they were the first witnesses to Jesus’ resurrection, people who say he rose from the dead would resort to witnesses who were unlikely to be believed.

According to the Bible, there were once more than 500 witnesses there at the same moment.

Hallucinations, on the other hand, occur on an individual basis.

There has never been a documented instance of a collective hallucination in history. It is reasonable to think that if so many individuals at the time were in agreement about what they observed, it is reasonable to infer that they were speaking the truth.

His Followers Stuck to Their Story

Because of Jesus’ arrest and subsequent death, his followers were caught completely off guard. They spent the day following His death alone, dispersed, befuddled, and in mourning. They had been vanquished. These guys would go on to be outspoken supporters of the Christian message in their respective communities. Jesus had 12 close followers, who are referred to as His “disciples” in popular culture. One of these individuals, Judas, had betrayed Jesus and then committed himself as a result of his actions.

  • In the end, ten of them were executed for their testimony that Jesus was alive, while the eleventh was deported and imprisoned.
  • However, they continued even when they were presented with the decision of either abandoning their message and confessing it was a fraud or losing their lives.
  • According to the only explanation for such a shift in attitude, the disciples were convinced that they had saw Jesus alive and well following His crucifixion and that the fact that He had survived was worth dying for.
  • Why would so many men give their lives for something they were well aware was false?

Have Faith and Seek Truth

The importance of asking the question “Did Jesus actually resurrect from the dead?” cannot be overstated. God does not require His children to believe blindly in order to please Him. Despite the fact that there are some things that we as humans can never fully comprehend, God provides us with answers when we seek them from Him. When you question anything, it is not improper to do so since the Truth will never fail you when you question it. You may have trust in what the Bible teaches because it is true.

Because the more we study about what God’s Word has to say and the more we strive to grasp it, the clearer the answers will become.
