If ‘Yet not I but through Christ in Me’ Biblical?

Much like Hillsong, Bethel, and Citipointe, CityAlight has its roots centered around their church. This one hails from St Paul’s Castle Church, which is located in Sydney, Australia. Fifteen parishioners, who were also songwriters, wrote fifty songs in 2014, all of which contained a focus on Scripturally sound lyrics with simple music as its backdrop. Only ten passed the rigorous test of pastors, musicians, and lyricists who reviewed their songs. These ten songs were recorded live that same year, released as their title albumYours Alone.

Specifically, the title track from their EP, Yet not I but through Christ in Me, has been requested for review.

1. What message does the song communicate?

In this song, a firehose is used to unload a truckload of knowledge about God and Christians on the listener. I try to break them down into bullet points as best I could. God’s statements are included.

  • Gives grace
  • Gives us His son, the greatest gift he could have given us
  • Source of:
  • Redeemer
  • Source of:
  • Jesus is the only one who can bring about the remission of sins for all of mankind. Christ has paid the punishment for mankind
  • The Holy Spirit resides inside mankind
  • And Christ-followers are not abandoned. Power shown in the shortcomings of people
  • Defender
  • Leader
  • Overcomes death via resurrection
  • Sustains Christ-followers
  • Recipient of eternal glory

Christ-followers are the subject of statements.

  • Keep their gaze fixed on Jesus
  • It exists within us. Those who have received forgiveness
  • Only in Jesus can we find hope. When you’re weak, you’re strong. Free from a previous wicked way of life
  • Recipient of God’s ongoing spiritual replenishment and renewal
  • Will sing God’s praises for the rest of my life

The only thing I have to say against CityAlight is that it claims that all glory goes to Jesus. That is not right, as part of Jesus’ purpose is to glorify the Father, which is not the case. As a result, not all honor and glory are due to Christ alone. Score:9/10

2. How much of the lyrics line up with Scripture?

There is a deluge of Bible texts conveyed throughout these songs, none of which are in dispute, save for the statement that all praise goes to Jesus, which is disputed. The lyrics have been provided with permission. * What kind of gift of grace does Jesus, my savior, provide? That is, the gift of unmerited good fortune (Genesis 15:6, Exodus 33:19, Psalm 32:1-2, Romans 3:21-24, Romans 4:3-8, Romans 5:1-2, Romans 5:6-8, Romans 5:15-21, Romans 6:14, Romans 8:1-4, Romans 9:14-16, Romans 11:5-6, Galatians 2:21, Galatians 3:6, Galatians 5:4, Ephesians 1:7, Ephesians 2:4-9, 2 Thessalonians 2:16, Titus 2:11, 1 Timothy 1:15-16, and James 2:23).

It was prophesied in Isaiah 9:6 that the promised Son would come, and it was fulfilled via Jesus in Luke 1:26-38 and Matthew 1:18-25.

He is the source of my happiness, righteousness, and freedom.

God is the originator of:

  • Psalm 7:11, Psalm 9:8, Psalm 36:6, Psalm 35:24, Psalm 40:10, Psalm 48:10, Psalm 50:6, Psalm 65:5, Psalm 89:14, Psalm 145:17, Isaiah 5:16, Isaiah 4:6, Psalm 145:17, Psalm 145:17, Psalm 145 God’s love (Nehemiah 9:17, Psalm 17:7, Psalm 36:5-7, Psalm 63:3, Psalm 69:16, Psalm 117:2, Isaiah 54:8, Romans 5:6-8, Romans 8:37-39, Galatians 2:20, Ephesians 2:4-5, Ephesians 5:25, Titus 3:4, 1 John 4:16-19, and 1 John Internal peace (John 14:27, John 16:29-33, Romans 5:1, Ephesians 2:14-15, and Colossians 3:15)
  • External peace (John 14:27, John 16:29-33, Romans 5:1, Ephesians 2:14-15, and Colossians 3:15)

This is what I believe, and my only hope is in Jesus. It is only through Jesus that we may be saved (Acts 4:10-12), and it is only through Jesus that we can have access to the Father (John 14:6). Because my existence is inextricably linked to His. Christ is at the core of all we do (Hebrews 12:2). Oh, how wonderful and lovely it is that I am able to sing: “All is mine!” However, it is not I who live, but Christ who lives within me. It is Christ who lives inside us, not ourselves (Galatians 2:20).

  1. The night is gloomy, yet I have not been abandoned.
  2. Light triumphs over darkness in the Scriptures (Psalm 107:10-16, Luke 1:79, John 1:1-13, John 12:46, Ephesians 5:8, Colossians 1:13, 1 Peter 2:9, etc.).
  3. I persevere despite my frailty and with joy.
  4. This is what I believe, and my Shepherd will protect me.
  5. In Scripture, Jesus, the good shepherd (John 10:11-18), is our defense (Ruth 2:12, 2 Samuel 22:3-4, Psalm 3:3, Psalm 18:30, Psalm 32:7, Psalm 34:22, Psalm 57:1, Psalm 61:3, Psalm 91:1-16, Psalm 121:7-8, Psalm 138:7, Nahum 1:7, 2 The (Psalm 23:4).
  6. See Verse 1, line 1 for the opening section of the poem.
  7. However, it is not I who is doing it, but Christ in me.
  8. I have no fear about my future since I know I am forgiven.
  9. And He was risen from the dead in order to overthrow the grave.

He rose from the dead (Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24, John 20, Acts 1:3, Acts 3:15, Acts 4:33, and 1 Corinthians 15:3-8), defeating death (Isaiah 25:8, Hosea 13:14, Luke 20:35-36, 1 Corinthians 15:24-26, 1 Corinthians 15:55-57, 2 Timothy 1:10, and Hebrews 2:14) and providing us with the hope of eternal life (Matthew 28:19, Mark 16, Luke 24, John 20, Acts (Mark 10:29-30, John 3:15-16, John 3:36, John 4:14, John 5:24, John 5:39-40, John 6:27, John 6:40, John 10:28, John 17:3, John 20:31, Romans 5:21, Romans 6:22-23, Romans 8:18, 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, Galatians 6:8, 1 Timothy 1:16, 1 Timothy 6:12, 2 Timothy 2:11, Hebrews 5:9, 1 Peter 5:10, 1 John 2:23-27, 1 John 5:10-13, 1 John 5:20, Jude 1:20-21, Revelation 3:5, Revelation 7:16-17, and Revelation 21:3-4).

  • What can man do to me now that I know this (Psalm 27:1, Psalm 118:6, Isaiah 51:12, and Hebrews 13:6), you might wonder.
  • That is, the cross was fastened to the ground (Colossians 2:14).
  • Jesus is my supplication now and foreverSee Chorus 1, line 2.
  • However, it is not I who is doing it, but Christ in me.
  • I yearn to follow Jesus with every breath I take.
  • Because He has stated that He will bring me back to my family.
  • And I have faith that He will rejuvenate me day by day.

This is what I believe, and my only hope is in Jesus.

All honor and glory are due to Him forever and ever.

John 13:31-32, John 14:13, John 17:1-4, Philippians 1:19-11 (and Philippians 2:9-11), and Philippians 2:9-11 all state that the Father is also entitled to honor.

However, it is not I who is doing it, but Christ in me!

To this I cling, and my only hope is in Jesus, who deserves all of the praise forever and ever.

When the race is over, my lips will continue to say: “Yet not I, but through Christ in me!” However, it is not I who is doing it, but Christ in me! However, it is not I who is doing it, but Christ in me! Chorus 4, lines 3 and 4 are repeated. Score:9/10

3. How would an outsider interpret the song?

Those who are not yet followers of Jesus should have no difficulty understanding its interpretation. It’s fine if they don’t comprehend some of the jargon used in the document. Fortunately, there is enough repetition surrounding the fundamental message of Christ dying for their sins, as well as our reaction to that message to ensure that it does not detract from their whole experience. Unbelievers are unlikely to recognize the folly in giving all honor and credit to Jesus. Score:9/10

4. What does this song glorify?

When it says that all glory belongs to the Son of God, it is correct; but, it is incorrect when it says that all power and majesty belong to the Son of God. Score:9/10

Closing Comments

The title of CityAlight’sYet not I, but through Christ in Mes sums up this inspirational work perfectly. Its message is a deluge of words that demonstrate the magnificence, uniqueness, and qualities of God that everyone will be able to recognize. Christian dependency on God for strength, sustenance, and salvation serves to bring Him honor via the sacrifice of their lives. The difficult evaluation procedure undertaken by CityAlight was successful! They are, on the other hand, mistaken when they claim that all glory belongs to Jesus alone.

Final Score: 9 out of 10.

Yet Not I But Through Christ in Me – The Resolved Church

This book is an investigation of one of the most difficult problems of the Christian religion. In having Christ in us, two seemingly contradictory principles come together: first, that we must battle for the faith, and second, that we must do so with the force of Christ (‘To this end, I vigorously argue with all the energy Christ so strongly works in me,’ says Paul in Colossians 1:29). Having Christ in us does not imply that we do no more labor, nor does it imply that we do everything. Rather, we engage in a battle with him, and we engage in a battle with his energy.

  1. He will bring us to the pinnacle of success.
  2. He himself is within us, guiding us step by step back to ourselves.
  3. It’s something to sing about!
  4. Instead of me, it is Christ who now lives in me and gives me life.
  5. “My grace is sufficient for you,” the Bible says in Galatians 2:20, “because my power is made perfect in weakness.” In order for the strength of Christ to rest upon me, I shall boast all the more joyfully of my weaknesses.
  6. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, ” And I am certain in this: he who began a good work in you will see it through to completion on the day of Jesus Christ, I am certain.
  7. There is nothing more that heaven can provide at this time.

Verse 2: The night is gloomy, yet I have not been abandoned.

Three-hundred-and-thirty-second verse I have no fear about my future since I know I am forgiven.

Because Jesus bled and suffered for my sins, I am forgiven.

Jesus, now and forever, is my supplication.

Verse 4: I yearn to follow Jesus with every breath I take.

And I have faith that He will rejuvenate me day by day.

All honor and glory are due to Him forever and ever.

What gift of Grace

For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith – and this is not your own doing; it is a gift from God – and not by your own works, so that no one can take credit for your salvation. Verse 8-10 of Ephesians 2:8-10 In our morning service on Sunday, we sang the song mentioned below, which you may listen to here. I believe it is a song that has everything – standard meters that make it simple to memorize, a simple, regular tune that aids in memorizing and allows the singer to concentrate on the words, which are the highlight because they are so clearly focused on Jesus and acknowledge that everything we have is entirely due to Him.

  1. However, it is not I who is doing it, but Christ in me.
  2. There is nothing more that heaven can provide at this time.
  3. My unwavering affection, my profound and limitless peace are all mine.
  4. Because my existence is inextricably linked to His.
  5. Because the Saviour will always be at my side, I will continue to labor in weakness and joy.
  6. This is what I believe, and my Shepherd will protect me.
  7. Surely, the night has been won, and I will triumph.

I have no fear about my future since I know I am forgiven.

And He was risen from the dead in order to overthrow the grave.

Oh, the chains have been broken, and I may sing: “I am free,” yet it is not I who am free, but Christ who is free in me.

This is what I believe, and my only hope is in Jesus.

When the race is over, my lips will continue to say, “Yet not I, but through Christ in me,” even though I have finished.

All honor and glory are due to Him forever and ever.

Sermon from Psalm 1

The Paths of the Righteous and the Paths of the Wicked1 A blessed man is he who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;2but his joy is in the law of the Lord, and he meditates on his law day and night. 3He is like a tree that has been planted by streams of water, which bears fruit in season and does not wither in the heat of summer. He achieves success in all he undertakes. 4 The wicked, on the other hand, are nothing more than chaff that the wind blows away.
