Jesus began preaching and saying, “Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” from that point forward. (Matthew 4:17
Luke 4:17) Take My Lead”And he says unto them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19)

Respect for Your Enemies However, Jesus instructs, “Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who despitefully use you and persecute you, that ye may be children of your Father who is in heaven: for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” Because, if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? “Do not even the bartenders behave in the same way?” (5:44–46 in Matthew 5:44–46)
Make Yourself Perfect”If ye love those who love you, what recompense do ye have? Aren’t even the bartenders and waiters the same? And if you just honor your brothers and sisters, what distinguishes you from the rest of the world? Do not even the bartenders believe this? Secret Disciplines should be practiced. “. When thou doest thine alms, do not let thy left hand know what thy right hand is doing, so that thine alms may be done in secret, and thy Father, who seeth in secret, himself will reward thee publicly.” . And your Father who sees in secret will reward thee openly as a result of your prayer. . When you fast, anoint your head with oil and wash your face so that you do not appear to mankind to be fasting, but rather to thy Father who sees in secret

Great Commandment – Wikipedia

Jesus cites the first of two commandments in Matthew 22:35-40, Mark 12:28-34, and in response to him in Luke 10:27a, which is referred regarded as the Great Commandment (or Greatest Commandment) in the New Testament. Love the Lord thy God

The following is how Matthew Henry summarizes the question of which is the greatest commandment: In the Law, it was a question that was contested among the critics. Some would consider the Law of Circumcision to be the Great Commandment, while others would consider the Law of the Sabbath, while still others would consider the Law of Sacrifices; now they would test what Christ said in response to this question, hoping to inflame the people against him if he did not answer according to the popular opinion; and if he did magnify one commandment, they would consider him to be vilifying the others.

Adam Clarke said in his Commentary on the Bible that the first and greatest commandment is: “This is the greatest commandment.” It is the “original and greatest”:

When it comes to loving the Lord your God, it is defined as “behaving in such a way that God will be beloved by all His creatures.” As a result, Israel, as the priest-people, is obligated, like the Aaronite priest, to sanctify the name of God and to avoid anything that tends to desecrate it (Lev. xxii. 32). There have been differing interpretations of the relationship that exists between the two commandments because of this double reference, although traditionally “love thy God” is referred to as “the first and greatest commandment,” and “love thy neighbor” is referred to as “the second great commandment.” It might simply be a reflection of Hillel’s “seven rules (Middot),” in this instance the first rule, known as al wa-omer (Hebrew: ), which he established.

Love thy neighbor as thyself

If you ask Jesus which is the greatest commandment, he will paraphrase the Torah: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind,” before also paraphrasing a second passage: “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself,” according to the Christian New Testament.

The majority of Christian churches believe that these two commandments, taken combined, constitute the heart of the Christian faith. The second paragraph is regarded as a variant of the Golden Rule in its application (circa 1300 BCE).

7 Commandments Jesus Gave From the Gospels

Jesus gave us rules that went above and beyond the Ten Commandments, some of which were new and some of which were taken from the Old Testament. What seven commandments did Jesus offer us in the Gospels, and what are they?

Jesus Commandments

In addition to the Ten Commandments, Jesus taught us instructions that were both new and from the Old Testament. According to the Gospels, what are the seven commandments that Jesus taught us?

Love One Another

John 13:34-35 (KJV) “I’d like to offer you a new command: Love one another. You must love one another in the same way that I have loved you. By doing so, everyone will recognize you as my disciples, especially if you love one another.” If we are rescued, then this signifies that we have received “a new command” from Jesus, which is addressed to His disciples. Our love for one another is mandated by God, but what is the extent of this love? In the same way that Jesus loved us, we are expected to love one another.

If we love one another as Christ loves us, this implies that we will not gossip about others, that we will be servants of others, that we will put others’ interests ahead of our own, and that “everyone will know that we are disciples” if we do this.

It is not about religion, but rather about developing a personal relationship with the Son of God.

Pray for your Enemies

5:44-45 (Matthew 5:44-45) “Do kind to your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be adopted as sons of your heavenly Father.” Because he causes his sun to rise on the bad and the good, and showers rain on the just and the unjust,” says the Prophet. For individuals who do not have the Holy Spirit, this mandate is completely out of the question. This would have been completely incomprehensible to the Romans. Really? Do you pray for your adversaries? As a result, this is diametrically contrary to the ways of the world, which is precisely why Jesus teaches us to not only pray for our enemies, but also to love them!

No, it is not the case.

It is he who instructs us to pray for and love them “in order that” or in order that we “may be sons (and daughters) of Father.” A godly love is one in which we pray for our adversaries because Jesus prays for us and died for us while we were still His enemies and wicked sinners.

Repent

Matthew4:17 As a result, Jesus began preaching, telling people to repent because the kingdom of heaven was at nigh. You might not conceive of this as a new command, however as we can see, it was implemented in ” The following day, Jesus began his sermon by saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” What period of time did Matthew intend to refer to in his gospel? It began when “Jesus began to preach,” or when He began His earthly ministry, and continued until the end of time. According to what I could locate, this is the only command that is intended at individuals who have not yet been rescued.

As a result, the kingdom’s being at hand signifies that it is within reach or within an arm’s length, and the appearance of the King of that kingdom, who is Jesus Christ, signifies that the kingdom’s being at hand has been made so by his appearance.

Believe that Jesus is in the Father

John14:11 If you believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or if you trust me on the basis of my actions, I will grant you eternal life.” At first glance, this does not appear to be a new command from Jesus, but He instructs the disciples, and by extension, instructs us, to “believe” in Him and that He is “in the Father and the Father is in Him.” He also instructs us to “believe” in the Father and that He is “in the Father and the Father is in Him.” The fact that Jesus employs the Old Testament word for God, “I am,” implies that He is compelling us to accept that He is the “I AM” of the Old Testament, even though the majority of people do not understand what He is saying.

The four gospels include a total of seven “I AM” statements from Jesus.

Because He pretended to be God, which He obviously is, the Jews wanted to stone Him for saying such things.

There are numerous other places in which Jesus orders His disciples to believe in Him, thus it is no coincidence that believing is a given instruction in this passage as well (John14:11).

Take up your Cross and Follow Me

Go and Make Disciples

Matthew 28:18-20 (NASB) Go, therefore, and make disciples of all countries, baptizing them in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to do all that I have told you.” And behold, I am with you always, throughout the days of your life, to the end of the age.” In this case, the demand is straightforward and forceful, similar to the way a father might tell their children to get out of the center of the roadway.

There isn’t a backup plan. “You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and throughout all of Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the world,” Jesus tells the disciples, and He tells us (Acts 1:8).

This is mentioned three times in the gospels (Matthew and Mark), as well as once right before He ascended (Acts 1:8), indicating that it was of great significance to Christ.

The value of any instruction or remark given by Jesus more than once is universally acknowledged, and we are instructed to go and make disciples of all countries, to teach them what Jesus teaches us, and to go into all the world, even if it is only around the corner.

Pray Always

Luke21:36 Nonetheless, keep your eyes open at all times, hoping that you will have the strength to escape all of the events that are about to unfold, as well as to stand before the Son of Man. In the context of Luke 21, Jesus instructs us to remain on the lookout since His return might occur at any time (Luke 21:29-35). He directs us to pray as follows:

We should pray at all times (Luke 21:36)
We should refrain from using vain repetitions (Matt 6:7-8)
We should pray to the Lord of the Harvest for more laborers (Luke 10:2)
We should pray to the Father in secret (Matt 6:6)
We should pray for God’s will and the coming of the kingdom, for forgiveness of our sins, and for our needs (Luke 11:3-4)
We should pray for those who despitefully use

“Lord, teach us to preach; teach us to cure; teach us to minister.but teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1) was not the question the disciples asked Jesus when they arrived because they recognized Jesus as a Man of prayer.

Conclusion

Those who are not saved are commanded to repent (Matt 4:17), to preach the gospel to everyone in the entire globe (Matt 28:18-20), and to pick up our cross and follow Jesus (Matt 16:24-25). John 14:11 also instructs us to believe that He is in God and that the Father is in Him (Luke 21:36), to love one another as Christ loves them (John 13:34-35), and to pray for our enemies and those who persecute us (Matthew 6:33-34). (Matt 5:44-45). These are not recommendations, but rather orders from the King of kings and Lord of lords, Jesus Christ our Savior, who is also our Lord and Savior.

Why Jesus Said ‘If You Love Me Keep My Commandments’

If you truly love me, you will obey my commands.–John 14:15 In the news or on social media, “love” isn’t necessarily the most prominent topic that comes across your screen. Dissension, hatred, and instability serve to bring the state of our planet to the forefront. Despite its timeless beauty, the Bible reflects the same kinds of cultural conflicts that we are now facing today. The Bible has many accounts of battle, discord, and opposition that are worth reading. Thankfully, the Bible does have an overarching notion of “love” as its central topic.

God’s love for His creation and desire for us to be with Him forever motivated him to sacrifice his own Son as a punishment for our sin in the name of love. We are told in the Bible that, while love may not always be present, it should always be the ultimate objective.

What Does ‘If You Love Me, Keep My Commandments’ Mean?

In the New Testament, Jesus issues a slew of instructions that are all about love. When Jesus encourages the disciples to “love one another,” he is referring to the book of John. Continuing the story one chapter later in John 14:15, Jesus states, “If you love me, observe my commandments.” (NKJV) Jesus and his companions were eating a farewell lunch together, and his parting words to them were based upon love. These instructions were not taken lightly by Jesus. Jesus instructed the disciples that in order to demonstrate their love for God, they must obey His commands.

Jesus was preparing them for the possibility of his disappearance.

What Commandments Is Jesus Speaking of inJohn 14:15?

There were no particular Ten Commandments delivered to Moses on Mt. Sinai in the book of Deuteronomy that Jesus was referring to when he spoke of “commands.” Matthew 22:34-40 describes Jesus being contacted by Pharisees (religious leaders) who attempted to deceive him by posing as disciples. They were seeking to get Jesus to acknowledge that his teachings were incorrect. As a result, they approached Jesus and inquired as to which commandment, given to them by Moses, was the most significant. “Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, with all of your soul, and with all of your mind,” Jesus said in response.

This is similar to the second principle: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Throughout all of the Ten Commandments, the mandate to love God and to love others is embodied.

How Jesus Demonstrated Love throughout the Scriptures

Jesus spent the majority of his ministry displaying love for people and reflecting the love of his Father in heaven. In John 4, Jesus leads his disciples to a community of outcasts, which is despised by the rest of Jewish society. This is the beginning of their journey. As though they were infested with a sickness, Jews fled the town of Samaria like the plague. Their theological differences served as the catalyst for their animosity. Because of opposing views, the Jewish people chose the longer path around Samaria in order to avoid any confrontation with the locals.

Jesus chooses to take a seat at the well of Jacob, which is located on the outskirts of town.
The God Jacob adored is waiting to talk with a Samaritan lady who has been outcast by her own community as well as by Jacob’s.
A Hebrew Jew and a Samaritan are two different people.
Six different guys had showed her the wrong type of affection, and she was fed up with it.
The water she had come to get from the well had done little to improve her filthy way of life.
The overflowing love of Jesus for the woman at the well was a reflection of the love that God had for her.

Following God’s call to love one another demonstrates our devotion to God to the point that we have an overflowing love for everyone else as well. God’s love, shown through us, transcends boundaries and dismantles opposition.

Seeing Sin and Serving Anyway

Jesus demonstrated his love for his disciples by acknowledging their guilt but yet serving them. When Jesus displayed his love for the disciples in the chapter before he instructed them to fulfill his commandments by loving others, no one could have predicted what he was about to say or do. He cleansed the soles of their feet. They were the dirtiest portions of the body, especially the feet. During that historical period, slaves were not even assigned the chore of washing feet, which was a cultural norm at the time.

Jesus was well aware that his disciples would flee and hide.
He cared for them and bathed their feet nonetheless.
In the same manner that he cared for the filthy sin of the Samaritan woman, he sees our sin and chooses to love us despite our guilt.
Peter insisted that Jesus refrain from washing his feet.
If we want to engage and love others despite their wickedness, we must be willing to allow Jesus to clean up the dirtiest, most sinful portions of our life and enable him to do it.

Through Any Trial, Disciples Are Known by Love

When Jesus and his disciples were gathered in the dying hours of their lives, Jesus had a wealth of wisdom to share with them. It looked like they were all about to be thrust into some really tough and awful conditions. In order to prepare people for what was to come, Jesus spoke in parables. They were about to see history’s most heinous act of hatred. Christ the Son of God was about to be humiliated, beaten, and put on the cross, and they couldn’t bear to watch. Those who did not agree with Jesus’ message resented him and despised him.

The phrase “If you love me, you will fulfill my commandments” implied that they had to choose to love the people who would arrest, beat, and kill him in the next few hours, as well as the people who would love him.

Nevertheless, in the absence of Jesus, they would need to be recognized as Jesus’ disciples by the way they loved one another.

Their mission would be to preach the rescuing love of Jesus Christ to the very Pharisees who were responsible for Jesus’ death.

How Is Keeping Jesus’ Commandments an Expression of Love?

The call to love one’s neighbor was unequivocal in Jesus’ teachings. “If you love me, you’ll obey my commandments,” says the author. Or, to put it another way, if you do not love God by obeying his commands, you do not love God. Jesus says in John 14:16 that if we obey God by loving others, “And I will pray for you, and the Father will send you another Counselor to be with you forever.” “He is the Spirit of truth,” says the Bible. In Jesus’ absence, as we reflect God’s love to others around us, we shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, who will lead us through our lives.

The Holy Spirit enables us to love individuals who do not share our political views, even if they do not share our political views.

Then we are carrying out God’s command on our life, which is to reflect His love on those who are the most vulnerable in society.

Not a Chore but a Choice

God’s rules may become a hassle when we follow them out of a sense of duty or responsibility. Some people are more difficult to fall in love with than others. We are one of those persons that might be difficult to love at times. God made it quite plain what our motivation should be for loving others. When God’s Son offered His life as a punishment for the sins of the world, it was the greatest act of love on the part of the Father. I believe Jesus died in the name of all of us, especially for those who are the most difficult to love: criminals, those who oppose our political ideas, and those who hold different morals and values than we do.

A Prayer to Answer Jesus’ Invitation to ‘Keep My Commandments’

Dear God, please guide me in loving people in the same manner as You love them. Please assist me in overcoming racial, political, and religious boundaries in order to demonstrate Your love. I adore You, and I want to display my affection for You by following your instructions to love others. Thank you for demonstrating your love for me by sending your Son to die on the cross in my place for my transgressions. May your affection for me spill over into the lives of people around me. Amen. We all require assistance in loving others in the manner in which God has called us to love.

Jesus’ death on the cross washes us from the inside out, and it is the greatest display of his love on the earth.

That’s what love does, after all.
