7 Moments When Jesus Turned to Prayer

Is it possible to get insight into prayer by observing when Jesus prayed? When it comes to praying, there are no bad moments, with the exception of perhaps praying aloud in the middle of a concert or movie. 4)When You’re Desperately Missing Someone The Bible indicates that Jesus “often withdrew to lonely places and prayed” on a number of occasions (Luke 5:16 NIV).

6 Great Occasions When Jesus Prayed

1.Baptism

The baptism of Jesus is recorded in Lukechapter 3. “While He was praying,” it says in verse 21, “He was meditating.” Luke is the only one who notices Jesus praying. I don’t know about you, but if I heard the voice of the Father from the sky and the heavens opened, I would be paying attention! Is it possible that Jesus was being amused by the appearance of God? He wasn’t doing anything except praying. To take things a little more seriously, 1 Thessalonians 5:17 states, “Pray constantly,” whereas the NIV adds, “Pray continuously.”

2.Selecting Apostles

In Luke 6, a few paragraphs later, Jesus prays before appointing the apostles to serve with him. Now it was at this time, according to verse 12, that Jesus went out to the mountain to pray, where he spent the entire night in prayer to God. The question “How could Jesus pray all night?” was posed to me by a friend. I replied in the same manner that someone who would stay up late to watch the Super Bowl would. When God’s plan and purpose are raised above all else, nothing, not even momentary physical necessity, can stand in the way of God’s plan and purpose.

3.The Lord’s Prayer

In chapter 6, Matthew provides us with a wonderful opportunity. I hope that the piece I’m writing today is an accurate portrayal of this fact. Prayer was the vehicle through which Jesus taught people how to pray. Before the “Lord’s prayer,” we read and pray in the following manner. In the presence of His disciples, Jesus prays to His Father. Observe four aspects of this prayer that you have learned about in the past.

4.Transfiguration

Luke is the gospel that focuses the most on prayer out of all the gospels. Take a look at chapter 9:28. “About eight days after Jesus stated this, He gathered His disciples, Peter, John, and James, and went up a mountain to pray.” The story of Jesus’ transfiguration on top of the mountain is told here. When He prayed, the skies were open, which is related with the word “light,” just as they were during His baptism. At the baptism, Matthew tells us that he was “like a dove and lighting on Him,” which is seen in chapter 3 verse 16.

When Jesus prays, it marks the beginning of God’s transcendence.

5.Last Supper

In chapter 17 of his composition, John describes the prayer that was the longest and most intimate he had ever heard. A year may be spent delving into this intense, heart-to-heart conversation with God the Father and God the Son.

Jesus prayed for the glory of His Father as He came closer to the cross, and this is the most essential reason for today’s celebration. Jesus prayed that God might be shown through Him. Here are some practical suggestions for incorporating into our personal prayer time.

6.Gethsemane

The garden of Gethsemane was the location of Jesus’ final earthly prayer, which was recorded. Despite the fact that Easter is still a few days away, I hope it serves as a reminder that the tomb could not have been empty on Sunday without Friday. Matthew 26:36 (KJV) As they approached a site known as Gethsemane, Jesus instructed His followers to “sit here while I walk over there and pray.” ” On three separate instances, Jesus pleaded, “If it is possible, take this cup away from me.” Jesus did not question God’s authority, but rather inquired as to if there was another method to deal with sin.

On this particular moment, we witness Jesus, who is entirely human, appealing with the Father in heaven.
“Do I not have the right to drink the cup that the Father has given me?” Jesus rose from His knees to His feet in a single motion.

In reflection:

He prayed during his baptism since the gospel ministry had officially begun. Instead of praying that they were the proper ones before calling His disciples, He prayed that they had the right heart before calling them. He prayed that he would not leave us with a formulaic prayer, but rather with an intimate, loving prayer that was backed by authority. At His baptism and His transfiguration, Jesus prayed to the heavens from on high. For the sake of Himself, the disciples, and those who would follow, Jesus begged that the Father would hear his plea.

Romans 8:34 (NIV) ” Who, therefore, is the one who is to be condemned?
God’s right hand is occupied by Christ Jesus, who died more than that and was resurrected to life-and who is also interceding on our behalf.” Are you aware that Jesus is interceding for you?

10 Pivotal Moments When Jesus Prayed

During these critical occasions of His ministry, Jesus spent time in prayer. People have occasionally approached me and asked, “What is the point of praying? 10 Prayers of Jesus in the Bible [+Audio]

One of the greatest advantages of being a disciple of Jesus is the knowledge that He is now interceding on their behalf before the Father on their behalf (Roman 8:34; Hebrews 7:25). While we do not know what Jesus speaks to the Father in his prayers, we do have instances of many of Jesus’ prayers from the Bible, which we might use as a guide. As an illustration, in John 17:

First, Jesus prays that the Father would protect His church.

He not only prays for physical security, but he also prays for spiritual protection, namely that the church’s faith would remain strong after Jesus has returned to His Father (17:11).

Second, Jesus prays for His church to be sanctified…

That they would be purified; that they would come to understand the truth of God; and that they would reflect the glory of God on earth (17:17,19).

Third, Jesus prays for those who will believe through the message of that disciples (17:20).

Jesus prays for the expansion of his church and the conversion of a large number of people across the entire world as a result of the loyal work of all of His disciples. How incredible it is for believers today to be able to read this prayer and know that Jesus was, and continues to be, interceding directly and personally on their behalf before the Father.
