Accolades for What Would Happen If Jesus Was Serious? As long as Jesus is truly listened to, His words always come to life because they are verbalized words that have life of their own. They are alive, and they are able to give life. It is clear that Skye has paid attention to their concerns and has reacted with this life-giving book. Similarly to Jesus’ teachings, it is startling, shocking, and aggravating in equal measure, and it is alive in its own way. Michael Card is a writer who lives in the United States.

When I read more than 3–4 pages without pausing, I found it difficult to continue because it required me to seriously ponder what God was saying to me via this new interpretation of Jesus’ words from His most famous teaching.

Because of our familiarity with it, it has lost its potency, and we frequently miss the way it was intended to send us to our knees.

Skye continues to be a blessing to the church, as well as a prophetic voice that we sorely need in these difficult times!

What If Jesus Was Serious?

We are far too frequently content to ignore Jesus’ revolutionary appeal to give up our things and follow Him.

Scott Harrison is the author of this piece.

Skye’s book is one-of-a-kind in terms of both substance and aesthetic.

Skye, in his steady and beneficial approach, helps us comprehend the age-old truths of Jesus’ invitation to follow Him in new and fresh ways, while also introducing us to new and creative ideas.

This book was fantastic for me because I am a visual learner.

R.

Skye provides us with an approachable overview to the foundational teachings of Jesus.

gives fresh depth of insight for those who are already familiar with the Sermon on the Mount, as well as approachable footholds for those who are new to their trust in Jesus Christ.

Even while we have taken him personally and taken him seriously on issues like as politics, culture, and religion, we have somehow avoided accepting Jesus seriously on the issue of discipleship.

Skye does an outstanding job of establishing a vision for what it means to be a genuine disciple in this engaging and difficult book. I highly recommend it. It comes highly recommended. ― Jon Tyson, a.k.a. Mr. Tyson Lead Pastor of the Church of the City in New York and author of Beautiful Resistance

From the Back Cover

If Jesus was serious. then why aren’t we taking Him more seriously as a result? After taking a cursory look at how Christians are living today, it becomes clear that we are ignoring a lot of what Jesus had to say about how we should live. Skye Jethani reveals this issue through a thorough investigation of the Sermon on the Mount, which is Christ’s most comprehensive piece of ethical teaching. In the book What If Jesus Was Serious?, the author asks the question: What if Jesus Was Serious? Skye exemplifies how we rationalize away portions of this vital message in order to remain comfortable and justify disobedience to God’s commands.

Hopefully, if Christians begin to take Jesus seriously, we will discover that the rest of the world will do the same as well.

As a pastor, I’ve long argued to my congregation that my understanding of the Scriptures (and of Jesus) much outweighs my compliance to God’s commands. As a result, I don’t feel the need to discover ANOTHER, brand-new thing about God. All I have to do now is start obeying what I already know about Him. Skye brings to the church a unique gift: the ability to communicate vital themes via the use of visuals.

  • Because so many people in the United States no longer read.
  • Despite the fact that there are several illustrations and only 2-3 pages dedicated to each concept, this book is everything from “light.”

It has been determined to be challenging and has been left untested.” When studying Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, Skye skillfully emphasizes 72 salient aspects that are worth noting.

Incredibly inspiring advice on how to represent the character and nature of Christ.

It’s almost as if we had to routinely communicate with God if we want to even aspire to mimic Him, as Paul encouraged the Ephesians to do in their lives.

On July 2, 2020, a review was published in the United States of America.

“American” is not a religion (and shouldn’t be), and if it were, it would have little in do with following Jesus, as demonstrated by this succinct and simple explanation.

Skye is regarded as one of the most intellectual Christian leaders of our generation.

It will continue to be an important resource for many years to come.

It turns out to be a lot lighter read than I had expected.

I was drawn to the title because, while I believe in Jesus’ teachings, I believe that his expectations for how we should live are out of reach for me at this time.

The author does a fantastic job of illustrating how the teachings of the Sermon on the Mount are manifested in contemporary life, but he never urged me to take any specific action.

This year’s suggested reading list includes What If Jesus Was Serious?: A Visual Guide to the Teachings of Jesus We Love to Ignore by Holy Post Podcast cohost Skye Jethani, which is on my list for 2019.

This thoughtful, deliberate examination of The Sermon on the Mount increased my superficial knowledge of the text.

A daily personal reading book, family devotional book, or group discussion book, this book is a great choice.

This small book was jam-packed with basic instruction that assisted me in challenging some of my preconceived notions.

There is no more to say.

Purchase that has been verified A straightforward and succinct text that is on target and to the point.

This book serves as a sobering wake-up call, mostly based on the Sermon on the Mount.

I just have a problem with chapter 31, which is titled “intimate father and holy other,” since I believe he misses the message here.

Aside from this, I believe he misunderstands the teachings of mystical Christianity on other grounds, including portraying God as “terrifying” and “dangerous,” which are not among the key beliefs of mystical Christianity.

This chapter, in my view, should be redone with three rings that are more directly related to the three basic underlying ideas of Christianity today and also more correctly reflect the tenants of faith that are discussed in this chapter.

Not enough to award the book a rating of less than 5 stars, though. That being said, the remainder of the book is a treasure, and my only critique or comment is in that regard. Pay attention and buy the book, then read and share it with someone you care about.

He makes use of some of the principles given forth by Dan Roam (The Back of the Napkin: Solving Problems and Selling Ideas with Pictures) and “brings to life” ideas and truths from Jesus’ teaching as well as ideas and truths from the rest of the Bible as well.

A handful of texts from the Bible are also included, so that you may go a little more into this subject on your own.

: A Visual Guide to the Teachings of Jesus We Love to Ignore by Skye Jethani, cohost of the Holy Post Podcast, is a book that I recommend for 2020.

With this thoughtful, unhurried examination of The Sermon on the Mount, I was able to go beyond my superficial understanding.

A daily personal reading book, family devotions book, or group discussion book, this book is ideal for any occasion.

This is a book that you absolutely MUST read!

On April 25, 2021, the United States will conduct a review of this document.

Our tiny little patriotic Jesus, who looks very much like each of us, has been created in the United States of America.

Reading this book was a pleasure and entertaining experience.

The sentimental and mystical aspects of Christianity are discussed, but the more common fire and brimstone aspects of Christianity are left out of his discussion.

This chapter, in my opinion, should be rewritten with three circles that are more closely related to the three common overarching beliefs of Christianity today and also more accurately reflect the tenants of faith that are contained within those circles.

Not enough to give the book a rating of less than 5 stars, however. However, the book’s remaining chapters are excellent, and this is my only criticism or observation. Pay attention and buy the book, then read and discuss it with a friend:).

Skye Jethani – What if Jesus Was Serious?

NetGalley was contacted about providing an advanced review copy of this book. I had no clue what to anticipate because I had never read anything by this author before, but the cover and title drew me in right away. Despite the fact that I read this book in a few sittings, I believe it would have benefitted from being read more slowly to allow me more time to absorb and contemplate on what I was reading, so perhaps one in the morning and one in the evening would have been an appropriate pattern to follow.

I quickly realized that I was highlighting roughly 70 percent of the book and had to revise my plan, but the truth is that so much of what was written hit the nail on the head.

In this book, the author breaks down the sermon into bitesize chunks and thinks on what those pieces meant at the time that Jesus taught them, as well as what they mean for us now in our modern environment, which is nothing like the one that Jesus preached them in at the time of his ministry.

We who profess to be Jesus’ disciples and strive to live a life molded by his Kingdom are the antidote to the divisiveness and fury that are polluting our culture.

The book’s format was excellent; as previously stated, it is divided into small chapters that don’t take too long to read (although they will certainly leave you with a lot to think about), and each chapter begins with a drawing that is intended to illustrate the author’s point neatly and succinctly.

Is it true that the Christian life is just for individuals who are happy-clappy?

This book will push you and force you to take a hard look at your life and where you might be falling short of your goals.

Now that I’ve finished and can see the great worth in the information contained inside these pages, I’m going to start again from the beginning and take a more leisurely pace.

My overall rating is 5 stars. 4192 pages were rated on average. Published in the year 2020 On the 17th-20th of April, 2020, read the e-book.

Jesus did not pray in this manner.

As a reader of What If Jesus Was Serious.

Prayer is not about receiving answers, but rather about receiving God.

Skye Jethani (you might recognize him from The Holy Postpodcast) published a book last year titled What If Jesus Was Serious?

It was also a tremendous hit, which means Jethani is returning for round two, this time with an emphasis on prayer as the central theme.

Skye’s writing is 400-500 words long, and it includes a suggested Scripture reading as well as an original picture.

It is Skye’s insights that make her thoughts so incisive, engaging, and thought-provoking.

Jethani is pleasant and amusing, yet he is also serious and captivating in his presentation.

Skye is not the kind to do things like that.

I’m the type of person who gains knowledge by reading.

However, that is not the learning method that is most appropriate for everyone.

If you’ve had trouble with prior devotionals because you found them to be too formal, strict, or ritualistic, you should give this one a try. You will not be disappointed!
