3 Reasons Jesus Is Our Only Hope

The presence of the Way, the Truth, and the Life in the manger caused angels to exult, Mary to be perplexed, shepherds to worship, and us to be filled with expectation.

Hope Is a Person

The Christmas narrative demonstrates unequivocally that the hope of the cosmos is a human being. The angels’ song was about hope, and that was what they sang about. In the manger, there was hope. Mary’s heart was filled with apprehension as she hoped. The shepherds had come to worship because they were full of hope. Hope was given with gifts by the Magi, who had come a long distance to be with her. The tale of Advent is a story of hope because it records the coming to earth of the One who is hope, Jesus, who is the source of all hope.

Come, Let Us Adore Him

This collection of thirty-one daily readings from Paul David Tripp prepares us to do the one thing that counts most every December: celebrate the majesty of God’s Son’s incarnation. In this way, Jesus would be the ultimate Lamb of God, paying the ultimate price for our sin.

He would restore things to the state in which they were intended to be.

2. Jesus is the truth from God.

No hyperbole is used when it is stated that Jesus’ arrival on earth was God’s ultimate and final discourse. He wasn’t merely a messenger of God’s message; he was God’s truth himself. First and foremost, Jesus showed the Father to us in a manner that had never been done before. It was through him that the Father’s nature became apparent—so evident that he could proclaim with authority, “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). But there’s more: he gave us a glimpse into God’s redemptive scheme.

He sent a Savior to die in our place, and we are grateful.

The arrival of Jesus brought the truth about our predicament to light.

Yes, that is true: Jesus is the truth that comes from the Father.

3. Jesus is life.

Instead than only preaching about and providing for life, Jesus embodies it himself. “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you formerly walked,” writes the apostle Paul in Ephesians 2:1–2, describing our predicament prior to the person and work of Jesus. Dead people require life to be breathed into them in order to be resurrected and brought back to life. Jesus came to be that life-giver for all people. He came to defeat death, which was the ultimate outcome of sin. In the same way that his resurrection was the firstfruit of a multitude of resurrections to come, his Spirit would breathe new life into everyone who put their confidence in him through grace.

Chapter 2: When Despair Makes Us Shortsighted

“Please, LORD, respond to me right away! I’ve completely given up hope. Remind me each morning of your unwavering love, for I have placed my faith in you.” Psalm 143.7a and Psalm 8a One of the difficulties associated with depression is that it causes us to think only in the short term. In the midst of severe sorrow and feeling hopeless, it might be impossible to conceive any source of hope that can bring us out of our deep pain and restore our faith. My prayers are addressed to you; please direct me in the right direction.

You are my God; show me how to follow your commands.

Please save me, LORD, just as you have promised; in your mercy, deliver me from my afflictions!

God has plans for our life, and we must put our faith in Him that they are good plans for us.

Then you’ll dial my phone number.

All of your efforts will be directed toward me and you will ultimately succeed because you will seek me with all of your heart.

Because the Lord is compassionate, we will not be rejected indefinitely. He may cause us pain, yet his love for us is unwavering and unwaveringly powerful. He takes no joy in inflicting us with misery or suffering. Lamentations 3.31-33 are a collection of lamentations.

Readings from the New Testament

In the midst of our difficulties, prayer will keep us focused on the future. Allow your hope to keep you cheerful, be patient in your difficulties, and pray constantly. God will provide us with the strength to withstand anything we may confront in life, according to Romans 12.12. Every exam that you have had to go through is the type of test that most individuals have to go through. 2. How simple is it for you to think that there is some sort of comfort or remedy during times of despair? Consider your options for the future. What are your expectations? What are your apprehensions? These should be written down and shared with another individual you can trust. Draw a picture, write a poem, or compose a song that depicts what hope looks like for you in your life. Please take your time. Inviting God to be your source of inspiration

Prayer

To be honest with you, all I can see is darkness. a deep, black pit of sadness. All I feel is a sense of gloomy despondency. The sense of helplessness I’m experiencing is similar to being imprisoned in a cage from which I have no way out. I am entrapped in a bondage from which I believe I will never be able to free myself. I wish for a ray of hope in my life. Please help me to trust that there are better days ahead of me, even when all I can see is gloom. Assistance in seeing beyond this deep, black hole of apparently everlasting misery would be greatly appreciated.

God, who is perfect love, did something that did not contradict his holiness or justice, but nonetheless satisfied those demands of justice and holiness. “However, God commendeth His love toward us in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us,” the Bible states (Romans 5:8). What a wonderful love story! Even though the Bible claims that Jesus Christ is the”Son of God” (Matthew 14:33), He is also known as “God with us” (Matthew 1:23), having been born miraculously of a virgin into the human race.

1. As we already discussed, “Christ died for our sins,” and “Christ rose again.” This is the magnificence of Jesus and the significance of His advent.
2. ‘Who His own self bore our sins in His own body on the tree,’ according to the Bible” (I Peter 2:24).
3. “When He had by Himself cleansed us of our sins,” the Bible states (Hebrews 1:3).
4. It’s important to remember what God’s standard is.

The Hope Of A Believer In Jesus

For example, in contrast to the English word “hope,” the New Testament Greek term from which hope is translated*(“elpis”)contains no element of ambiguity. ‘Confident expectation’ in something that is certain but has not yet been realized is what it means. Consequently, our inquiry is: what is the confident anticipation of the future that a believer in Jesus has?

The Hope

As we will see, ‘the hope’ – or, more accurately, ‘the confident anticipation’ – is that, in the future, our adoption as God’s children (which was accepted and confirmed by baptism into Jesus – Galatians 3:26-27) will be completely realized and experienced in a magnificent and mind-boggling fashion. It is only when the glory of Christ is shown in us that our bodies will be redeemed (from pain, fear, degeneration, sin, and death). The hope is nothing less than the gift of certainty that, through Jesus, we shall be completely adopted as God’s children in all of their fullness and glory.

We will inherit our Father’s “estate” with Christ!

“We are God’s offspring,” says the author.

“The entire creation is waiting with bated breath for the appearance of the children of God.” In other words, “the creation itself will be emancipated from its bondage to deterioration, and brought into the freedom and grandeur of God’s children.” “From the beginning of time to the present, the entire creation has groaned as if it were experiencing labor pangs.” The adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies, is something we look forward to with great anticipation.” Because it was through hope that we were rescued” – Romans 8:14-24 (NIV) Take note of the final few words above.

The moment we are saved by being called, led, and directed into the person of Jesus Christ via faith and baptism (Galatians 3:26-27), we are saved with the certainty that we shall share in the inheritance of God’s glory as His children.

Our lives are transformed as a result of our obedience to and cooperation with the direction of the Holy Spirit of the Father and Jesus (the Son of God) in our lives (read Romans 8).

Among these is our quest for greater understanding of the Father and His Son via the revelation provided to us in the written word of God, as well as our desire to love and trust in them.

Believe, Receive, Welcome And Accept

According to the Scriptures, Jesus’ public ministry to the Jewish people (as the light of the world) was met with opposition since “his own people did not welcome him.” Those who did welcome him and believe in his name, however, were given the right to become children of God” – John 1:11 (ESV). After accepting Jesus as the light of the world and believing and accepting his message (which is remarkable), we are given the opportunity and privilege of becoming God’s children. Accepting God’s Son is the prerequisite for becoming God’s children as well.

We are effectively clothed with Jesus, and by being in Jesus, we are made children of God by our affiliation with him.

“As a result, in Christ Jesus you are all adopted children of God through faith.” — Galatians 3:26-27, Christian Standard Bible Because we have been pronounced righteous by faith, we now enjoy peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

A Hope That Motivates

Although the whole extent of our adoption and redemption has not yet been disclosed, we have the assured anticipation that it will be revealed in due course. This optimism inspires us to live lives that are altered. In our awareness that we are God’s children and shall become God’s children, as well as our gratitude for this immense love (that a great Father has adopted us), we are guided toward greater purity and holiness as we walk in the light of the Father and His Son. “Look at the immense love the Father has shown us, that we should be called God’s children – which we truly are!

To our dear friends, we are now God’s offspring, and it is still to be revealed what we shall be in the future.

And everyone who places their faith in him cleanses themselves in the same way that he is pure.” 1:1-3; 1 John 3:3; (CSB)

Jesus: The Firstfruits Of A Great Harvest

Among those who have died and risen again is Jesus, who was the first person to do so. At the second coming of Christ, all those who are in Christ and belong to him will have the same experience! If a believer in Jesus has died before to his return, he or she will first be resurrected from the tomb, and then they will experience what is simply (but marvelously) described as being’made alive’ in the text below. It brings to mind what was claimed of Jesus after his resurrection (“After he had suffered, he also presented himself alive to them!”).

The Transformation

Jesus will remodel our bodies such that they are identical to his own. This is the redemption of our bodies that the Bible speaks of in Romans 8:23. Jesus has the ability to convert our physical bodies into something that resembles his own exalted body. The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is the means by which he has invited you to share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. The second letter to the Thessalonians is written in verse 14. The Lord Jesus Christ is our Savior, and we joyfully await his arrival.

A New And Glorious Identity

What grows from the seed is radically different from what was seeded originally! We die, and our remains are placed to rest in the ground, just as seeds are sowed into the ground. The resurrection of our bodies from the dead will be like the sowing of a seemingly tiny seed in the ground, which will grow and be elevated to a new and different life and splendor as a result of the work of God. This will be the procedure through which the dead will be raised from the dead. A beautiful verse from Corinthians concludes our discussion: “So it is with the resurrection of the dead: seeded in corruption, raised in incorruption; sown in dishonor, raised in glory; sown in weakness, raised in strength; sown an earthly body, raised a spiritual body.” A spiritual body exists in addition to a physiological body.

One of the primary reasons Horizon Baptist Church exists today is to share the hope found in Jesus Christ with others. We are told in 1 Timothy 3:15 that the church is to serve as the “pillar and foundation of the truth.” There is no doubt in my mind that Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world and the sole hope for mankind’s eternal destiny. “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” Jesus declared in John 14:6, referring to himself. The message of the Gospel is one of hope. The word gospel simply means “good news.” There are a plethora of so-called gospels in the world, each spreading good news to those who are willing to hear it.

1. These gospels, on the other hand, do not deal with the most fundamental problem that all men and women face: the problem of sin and guilt, which is to say, spiritual death.
2. Without it, we would be condemned as sinners before a holy and righteous God, worthy of His vengeance.

Finding HOPE at the Foot of the Cross — Haven of Rest Ministries

Hope for Those Who Have Lost Hope

It’s a terrible sensation to be hopeless. Perhaps we Christians should consider ourselves to be perpetually hopeful. And you are absolutely accurate. Christ Jesus is our one source of hope in all and all circumstances. However, there are instances when we feel completely helpless. We experience disappointment when our aspirations and dreams are dashed and will never be realized. When we are unable to see past our suffering in order to embrace the hope He gives. To believe that there will ever be a better day on the horizon is to be optimistic.

Perhaps it’s the husband who watches his wife getting drawn into an emotional affair and begs her repeatedly to return to her family, only to see her give in to the other guy.

When a woman longs for a child, what happens if she suffers health complications that make it difficult for her to become pregnant?

It’s possible that it’s something else.

Alternatively, depression might claim the life of your partner.

Whatever the case may be, there is no longer any hope.

Cancer and pharmaceuticals are two topics that come to mind.

There is so much suffering.

Hope has been extinguished.

Each and every day, I find myself grappling with this dilemma.

When I found myself in divorce court, I was suicidal.

How do we continue to go forward?

TheLord is close to individuals who are grieving; he saves those whose spirits have been shattered by the world.

There will never be a period in your life when God would forsake you or forget about you.

You may rest confident that God is closer now than he has ever been before.

It was an unexpected word of consolation.

Perhaps all you need is a little grace to get you through the day, or even the moment.

He is present.

The suffering will not last indefinitely.

Yes, he has the final say; he does indeed.

However, it is only a season, one with a beginning and an end, and nothing more.

“Consecrate yourselves,” Joshua instructed the people, “because the Lord will work wonders among you tomorrow,” he predicted.

Joseph was in prison as God prepared him to rule the land.

David learned to fight when he was tending sheep.

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

He is good.

Even when bad things happen, we can trust that in His sovereignty He can—and will—bring good out of every tragedy.

My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

When we are at our lowest point, He is ready to show up and show off.

It may take a while, but one day we will look back with a new perspective—God’s perspective—and see just how faithful He was.

Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.

Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!

For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

If we choose to surrender to our Savior, He will take every pain and bring purpose to our lives.

How do we let Him have His way?

A new journey.

A new passion.

Are you in that hopeless place?

He will see you through.

Lord Jesus, I know what it is to be hopeless.

I know what it is to watch those we love most stumble through their days of hopelessness.

I know what it is to see you faithfully guide us through the darkest days, to redeem our pain and replace it with beauty.

Give them your perspective, your vision of their pain.

Give them your grace to get them through this season.

When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
