Why Is Jesus The Light Of The World?

What Did Jesus Mean When He Said ″I Am the Light of the World″ (John 8:12)?

  1. ″When Jesus spoke to the people for the second time, he said, ‘I am the light of the world.’ I promise you that whomever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will always have the light of life with them.″ -John 8:12 (KJV) In the relationship between Jesus and His Father is founded the phrase ″I am the light of the world.″ ″Jesus speaks from God, for God, and as God,″ says John Piper.
  2. ″Jesus speaks from God, for God, and as God.″ We are in a state of darkness until we have faith in Jesus.
  3. We have just a limited ability to comprehend who we are and what we perceive in the world around us.
  4. In her essay, ″The Beauty of Our Humanity Remains Visible,″ Aimee Joseph says that ″ugliness abounds.″ According to John Piper, ″the light of Christ is the brilliance of God beaming on the retina of the human soul.″ While life on earth might be lovely, it is not completely complete without the presence of Jesus.
  • We were all made with a desire for our Creator, our Father, and it is only through a connection with our Savior Jesus that the dark aspects of our hearts may be illuminated and transformed into light.
  • ″When I acknowledge that I am insufficient, I am free to flee and cling to the God who is.″ Aimee Joseph is a writer and actress.
  • On the cross, the Light of the World paid the price for our freedom.

The Biblical Context of the Verse ″I Am the Light of the World”

  1. Jesus was relentless in his efforts to establish a connection between Himself and the Father.
  2. In this passage, the Greek word for light is phos, which can be described as the light; anything that emits light; light, i.e.
  3. brightness, among other things.
  4. God declares, ″I am,″ in a profound way.
  • He is a being of light in many ways.
  • Subtle, yet quite effective.
  • Every day, the sun rises to warm, light, and promote development on the surface of the planet.
  • The moon and stars shine brightly in the night sky, acting as navigational aids even before cellphones were invented.
  • When we walk into a dark room, the first thing we do is reach for the light switch, and we rely on our accumulation of information to shine light on our life.

Light pervades every crack and pore of our lives and souls, whether it is visible, palpable in the form of warmth, or symbolically enlightened in its effects. The word phos comes from the Greek word meaning ″to make manifest,″ ″to make visible,″ ″to expose,″ and ″to make clear.″ Light is essential for the growth of all vegetation, and light also serves to clarify the human soul.It is believed that Christ was present throughout the creation of the world. The Author of Light has the authority to illuminate His creation in its purest form, and He does it with great care.

Jesus’ declaration that He is the Light of the World is an outward awareness of His Father’s creation and presence, as well as an internal dwelling of the Holy Spirit, through which we get to know our Father and walk with Jesus.Jesus is the Light of the world, the Light of our world, and the Light that shines in the world.Jesus is Light in the same way that God is all-pervasive.We are brought into the light and made aware of our sins because of Him and His sacrificial death on the cross.Christ is the source of all illumination.Jesus Christ is the image of the unseen God, and God is the light that shines in the darkness.

One sun illuminates the entire planet; one Christ illuminates the entire world; and there is no need for any other.-Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary on the Bible A boat’s navigational lights are required to keep it from colliding with the coast, running aground, or colliding with other vessels at night.Light helps to keep you from floating aimlessly.During the night, captains must keep an eye out for blinking channel signs and lighthouses.

While GPS coordinates are now used to direct ships, the Captain and his crew must still be able to navigate by the stars, buoys, and lights in the event of an electrical failure or other unforeseen event.A failure to plan ahead of time might be fatal.Just as ships navigate by lights to guarantee a safe route, we rely on the Light to guide us.Jesus’ death pierced the darkness, illuminating the path for us to follow in his footsteps.God’s Word, illuminated by the Holy Spirit, aids us in understanding and remembering when we require His guidance and direction.

When we pray, we have an open channel of contact that was not available to Old Testament Christians.Prayer acts as both a lifeboat and a beacon in our everyday lives.Beginning from the beginning of the book of Genesis and continuing through the Gospel of John, we discover that Jesus was present and that He is the Word.He is a part of everything that is touched by the light.

“While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” -John 9:5

  1. The Greek term skotia is used to represent ignorance of divine things in John 8:12.
  2. It is described as darkness caused by a lack of light and is used to indicate ignorance of heavenly things.
  3. It is connected with evil and the ensuing pain in hell as a result of this.
  4. ″God saw that the light was good, and he divided the light from the darkness,″ according to Genesis 1:4 (NASB).
  • The Light of the world is Jesus Christ, and those who are separated from Him or far away from Him dwell in darkness.
  • Being apart from, ignorant of, or unconscious of the dark puts us in need of something we cannot make on our own, which is the dark.
  • When we travel through life in darkness, we come to the end of ourselves in irritation, hopelessness, or an aloof feeling of contentment and delight, to name a few emotions.
  • With Christ, we have the ability to experience the totality of life.

What Happened Before and After?

  1. On this planet, John was Jesus’ greatest buddy, and he referred to himself as ″the one Jesus loved,″ which means ″the one Jesus cherished.″ He was the only one of the twelve apostles who was there at the time of Jesus’ death.
  2. The way we begin our stories reveals a great deal about what we understand and think the most about the world.
  3. John was unquestionably aware of who Jesus was, both as a friend and as God manifested in the flesh while on earth.
  4. ″The actual light, which illuminates everyone, was about to enter the globe.
  • He was present in the world, yet despite the fact that the world was created through him, the world did not acknowledge him.″ -John 1:9–10, NASB In John 2:19 and John 3:3, Jesus engages in a lengthy dispute with the Pharisees, which includes the statement we are examining today.
  • Following this spate of preaching, miracles, and conversions, the Jewish officials intensified their persecution of the Christians.
  • Prior to Jesus’ testimony statement as the Light of the World, John records Jesus writing on the ground in order to scatter a woman’s accusers, adding gasoline to the fire of the ongoing controversy.
  • As a result, Jesus cures a blind man, whose healing is subsequently scrutinized by the Pharisees, sparking a discourse not only about physical blindness, but also about spiritual blindness in general.

Who is Jesus Talking To?

  1. Jesus was speaking to a group of Jewish officials known as the Pharisees, who were well-known in their community.
  2. It is thought that the term is derived from a Hebrew word that means ″apart″ or ″disconnected.″ They distanced themselves from anything and everything that did not conform to their interpretation of Levitical (Old Testament covenant) Law.
  3. As Jesus talked, more and more people began to believe Him.
  4. His confidence was not diminished by their assertions.
  • ″Take note that God utilized Jesus’ words to bring about the establishment of faith.
  • At this time, he wasn’t doing miracles.
  • He was expressing himself.
  • In actuality, he was arguing back and forth with the Pharisees and with the people in the audience, who were completely oblivious to what he was actually saying.
  • And as people listened to him speak, they began to believe him.

″Faith comes through hearing, and hearing comes through the word of Christ (Romans 10:17).″ -″I Am the Light of the Word,″ says the speaker.John Piper is a well-known author.

  • Jesus came to earth so that we could be able to experience the power of the Holy Spirit.
  • Because of the knowledge of God’s word and our personal relationship with Him, God’s loving embrace shines His light on those who are living in darkness.
  • Segal argues, ″One of the reasons we find the darkness so terrible is that we recognize so much of ourselves in it: our flaws, worries, brokenness, and sin.″ According to Segal, ″for many of us, no darkness is more intimidating than our own.″

What Does it Mean for Christians to View Jesus as the Light of the World?

  1. ″When you’re in Adam, things get better.

  4. The act of following Jesus entails more than just tagging along with him.
  • It entails accepting him for who he truly is.
  • ″You become so enamored with him that you decide to join yourself to Him.″ -John Piper et al.
  • Light is synonymous with liberation.
  • When we walk with our Creator, we are completely open to the rest of the world.
  • Walking in the light entails embracing our individuality when we surrender our self-centered methods in exchange for His interpretation of love.

Consider how He knows everything about us even before we take our first breath on this planet.Allow the fact that He went to the cross with each of our names on it to permeate your being. The Light of the World is aware of things that we are unaware of.We can become so preoccupied with getting where we want to go that we miss many of the turns that lead to a life that is full and abundantly prosperous.

He explains that his light does not make the darkness any less dark; rather, it simply overcomes every shadow with something stronger.-Marshall Segal

What Does ″Light of the World″ Mean in the Bible?

  1. Christ’s ″Sermon on the Mount″ is a sermon in which he first teaches to His disciples the Beatitudes, a list of those who will be rewarded by God, followed by a sermon on the importance of salt and light.
  2. Christ tells them this in this passage ″You are a beacon of hope for the entire world.
  3. A city built on a hill can’t be concealed from view.
  4. Permit your light to shine before others so that they may see your good actions and give praise to your heavenly Father who is watching over you.″ (5:14-16) Matthew 5:14-16

Light of the World in Scripture

  1. ″You are the salt of the earth,″ says the author.
  2. But, if the salt has lost its saltiness, how can it be restored to its saltiness?
  3. It can no longer be used for anything other than to be thrown out and trodden underfoot anymore.
  4. You are a beacon of hope for the entire globe.
  • When a city is constructed on a hill, it is impossible to hide.
  • Nor do they light a lamp and place it beneath a basin of water.
  • Instead, they place it on a stand, and it illuminates the entire home, illuminating everyone.
  • Put on your shining armor so that people can witness your good acts and praise your heavenly Father.″ (Matthew 5:13-16; Mark 10:13-16) To be salt and light in the world is what we are supposed to do.
  • But what exactly does this mean?

Salt: When salt is applied, it dissolves inward and eventually vanishes completely.Salinity refers to the Christian’s internal nature, which is represented by salt.Light Also, Jesus compared His followers to a light that is seen on the outside of a building. The light speaks of the witness of a disciple of Christ, exposing and illuminating the truth as it shines through them.

You Are the Light of the World

  1. Jesus was speaking to a group of people who were just like them.
  2. But Christ told them, ″You are the light of the world″ (Matthew 5:14).
  3. (Matthew 5:14).
  4. Even now, you continue to be a beacon of hope for the entire globe.
  • That is exactly how God plans to do his work on our planet today: via you!
  • Not alone are pastors and missionaries lights in the world; everyone who loves the Lord may be a light in their own lives.

How to Be the Light of the World

  1. 1.
  2. Express Your Belief in Jesus Christ God takes an average individual and utilizes them to spread His word to others who were in desperate need of hearing it from Him.
  3. When we share our faith with others, we help to spread His light.
  4. You were saved so that you may shine!
  • Don’t be ashamed to share your testimony or to bring your Bible to work with you.
  • Don’t be hesitant to say a prayer during your lunch break at school.
  • Make it known to people that you adore the Lord Jesus.
  • 2.
  • Shine a Light Where There Is No Light In this text, Jesus outlines what we are – the light of the world, not the light of the church – and what we should be.

In order to do so, we must venture outside the church’s walls and bring light to areas that are in darkness.3.Shine brightly as a community as the Church Jesus also spoke about the power of communal light in his teachings.A glow is thrown over the sky by each house in a metropolis that has its lights turned on.

A radiance for the Lord is created when Christians gather together in unity, something we can’t do alone. We shine brightest when we work together as a group.4.Live a life that is completely devoted to the Lord. What can we do to make a difference for God?As Jesus instructs, we are to let our lights shine before mankind in such a way that people will notice our good actions and praise the Lord in our behalf (Matthew 5:16).

That’s how we go about things. We exist solely for the glory of God.We must entirely and utterly give our life to Him.Christ tells us that we should ″let″ our lights to shine.

Instead, when you get your relationship with God in order and are filled with the Holy Spirit, He will simply radiate from within your person. The following is an excerpt from the book ″Bright Lights in a Dark World″ by Love Worth Finding Ministries/Adrian Rogers (used by permission).

What Did Jesus Mean When He Said, “I Am the Light of the World”?

  1. God is the light that shines inside and through His church, and through His church, God is the light that spreads across the globe.
  2. When the Bible depicts Christ’s Church in Matthew 5, it also describes Christ Himself in John 8:12, using the same term that the Bible uses for light: According to the Bible, ″Then Jesus spoke to them once more, saying, ‘I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of life.’″

Biblical Context of “I Am the Light of the World”

  1. A translation of the Greek word Phos means ″to shine or make evident, the light″ and ″to shine or make manifest, the brightness.″ We know from John 8:20 that Jesus spoke these remarks in the Temple’s Treasury, which is where we find them.
  2. According to this observation, this location was close to the Court of Women, which was ″the most public area of the temple″ at the time.
  3. The Feast of Tabernacles had been going on for a few days when we visited.
  4. During this ceremony, four gold candelabra were lit, casting a warm glow across the whole court.
  • According to Elliot’s Commentary on the Bible, ″On this night the light will not shine; but the genuine Light, which has always been in the earth, is now in His own Temple, delivering the words of light and life to the people who have come to Him.″ There is a Light there, and its beams are intended to illuminate not just the Temple, but also Jerusalem, Judea, and the Dispersion, as well as the entire globe.″

Light as a Metaphor

  1. For Christians, the concept of light driving out darkness is fundamental to their view of Jesus.
  2. Baby Jesus was described as ″a light of revelation″ by one of the very first Jews to identify him as the awaited Messiah (Luke 2:32).
  3. It is only against a backdrop of darkness that this metaphor of light makes any sense.
  4. 1.
  • Darkness serves as a reminder of the universal truth of human stupidity.
  • Individuals who are ″in the dark″ are those who do not possess sufficient knowledge.
  • This metaphor had particular significance to the Jewish thinking because it applied specifically to the Gentile world – a world that had not yet experienced God’s favor via the revelation of the Torah, the prophets, and the written revelation from God.
  • In this day and age, we know that countless millions of people continue to live in complete darkness, having never heard of the one true God or of Jesus Christ, the only Son of God.
  • 2.

The term ″darkness″ relates to wickedness and deliberate blindness. This goes above and beyond the plain reality of being ignorant.Darkness, in this context, alludes to the reality that many people will reject the light out of hand.Specifically, as John 1:10-11 explains, ″He was present in the world, and despite the fact that the world was created through him, the world did not acknowledge him.

Even when he arrived at his home, he was not welcomed by his family.″ Abridged extract from Albert Mohler’s ″The Light of the World,″ which may be found on Christianity.com, is presented here.

Light in Messianic Prophecy

  • In prophesy, light is also frequently used to describe the Messiah: ″I, the LORD, have called you in justice
  • I will take hold of your hand.″ ″I will maintain you, and I will make you a covenant for the people, and I will make you a light for the Gentiles.″ It is a modest thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel who have been preserved,’ he says in Isaiah 42:6. As a result, I will make you a light for the Gentiles, so that my salvation may be seen all throughout the world.″ ″Arise, shine,″ says the prophet Isaiah, ″because your light has arrived, and the brightness of the LORD has risen upon you.″ ″But for those who love my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays,″ says the prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 60:1). ″And you will cavort around like well-fed calves,″ says the author. ″For I have seen Your deliverance, which You have prepared in the face of all peoples, A LIGHT OF REVELATION TO THE GENTILES, AND THE GLORY OF YOUR PEOPLE ISRAEL,″ says Malachi 4:2. (See Luke 2:30-32.)

Why is Jesus Christ called the Light of the World?

During the Feast of the Tabernacles, Jesus went to the Temple in Jerusalem. The temple was illuminated by four enormous candles, the light from which could be seen for a long way around the outside. Here, He saved a lady who was about to be stoned for adultery and then said to those present, ″I am the light of the world.″ ″Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life″ (John 8:12).(John 8:12 NKJV).In a spiritual sense, darkness is typically associated with sin or with a lack of clarity about what is true.

This darkness has the potential to conceal evil or distort what is genuine. It has the potential to distort reality and make it difficult to see or grasp reality.God, on the other hand, created both day and night, and He does not want us to spend our whole lives in the dark.

  1. He wants us to live our lives in the light, and the light that we need comes from the Lord Jesus Christ.
  2. Jesus Christ came to earth in order to fulfill prophecy; He had promised to come and save us from our sins, and He came to fulfill that promise.
  3. The gospel was preached by him, and he assisted those who ″had(d) ears to hear″ (Mark 4:23 NKJV) in seeing beyond the Law of Moses to the new and higher laws of love.
  4. He instructed His disciples to follow in His footsteps and to live by a set of rules that would bring them closer to the Almighty.
  5. Whoever just observed Him would have an understanding of the sort of Being God Himself was, as well as the kind of person each of us should try to be.
See also:  3. In What Ways Does The Textbook Say That Jesus Is Similar To Moses And David

During the aforementioned episode with the lady who was to be stoned, He answered to queries intended to trap Him on the woman’s legal fate by stating that she was innocent. However, rather than informing the men that the rule was unjust, as they had hoped, He simply stated that the first stone should be hurled by the one in the group who was not guilty of a transgression. As it turned out, only Jesus himself fit that standard; nonetheless, when the men slipped away from her, He also declined to pass judgment on her.

  1. He just asked her to repent and put her transgression behind her.
  2. He healed the sick and treated those who were viewed as nothing by the world throughout His limited mission.
  3. He refused to turn away children when He was exhausted and gave up everything to dedicate His entire life to preaching the gospel during His brief ministry.
  4. When His mission came to an end, He took upon Himself the sins of the entire world and then willingly permitted Himself to be murdered in order to save others.
  5. He triumphed over death and sin, so overcoming the two most difficult aspects of our life.

Even if He isn’t physically present with us on Earth, we may still be directed by His light today.Keeping our feet on the road of his light, which is one of love, will keep us safe. One method to stay connected to the light of Jesus is to learn to identify and follow the Holy Spirit, which is something we can all do.Following Jesus’ crucifixion, the disciples were given the gift of the Holy Spirit to assist them.

  • In addition to being a tool for learning new things, it may serve to remind us of the teachings of Jesus.
  • It was taught by Christ: ″(t)he Holy Spirit, whom the Father shall send in My name, will teach you all things and bring all that I have spoken to you to your recollection″ (John 14:26 NKJV).
  • When it comes to wisdom, James advises, ″If any among you lacks knowledge or understanding, let him ask of God, who gives generously and without condemnation, and it will be given to him.″ ″However, let him ask with trust, without reservation″ (James 1:5-6, NKJV).
  • Some individuals are concerned that if they pray, they may not be able to comprehend the instructions given by the Holy Spirit.
  • This is understandable.
  • The fact that God never makes a promise that He cannot keep, as well as the fact that He promised to answer us, gives us reason to be hopeful.
  • Because, with God, nothing is out of the question (Luke 1:37 NKJV).
  • Christians believe that as they increase the quality of their prayers and their capacity to receive answers, the light within them develops, allowing them to be surrounded by peace, joy, and truth no matter how gloomy the day or how difficult the circumstances in their lives may appear to be.
  • Christians also have faith in the resurrection of their own bodies.

Death and sin were defeated by Jesus. The reason Jesus is called the light of the world is because his light is the only source of the joy God has promised to us, and it is only through his light that we may experience this joy.

Why Did Jesus Say We Are the Light of the World?

My hometown is Fairbanks, Alaska, where I was born.During the depths of winter, there are several weeks when the sun only reaches the horizon for four hours every day. There are days when there is no sunshine at all in the Arctic Circle if you travel far enough north. Can you fathom living in a world where there is no light? Can you imagine living in a world where you can’t see your own hand in front of your face?

A world devoid of light is a world filled with horror and anxiety. It is an universe in which nothing is shown and everything is kept hidden from the observer. We are told by Jesus that the world was in darkness before he entered it.

  1. Throughout the Bible, Jesus describes himself as ″the light of the world,″ as stated in John 8:12.
  2. Without Jesus, the world is a pitch-black wasteland.
  3. And we have been given the responsibility of becoming the light.
  4. However, before we may become the light, we must first allow the light to illumine any areas of darkness inside us.
  5. Luke 8 describes the lamp that enters into our life, saying, ″No one after lighting a lamp puts it beneath a bed or puts it under the table; rather, he sets it on a stand so that all who enter may see the light.″ As a result, there is nothing hidden that will not be made evident, and there is nothing secret that will not be known and brought to light.″ This passage is often misconstrued by readers.

‘This tiny light of mine, I’m going to let it shine,’ we sing together.I’m going to let this small light of mine shine brightly.Allow it to shine, allow it to shine, allow it to shine.

  1. No need to hide your light behind a bushel!
  2. No need to hide your light behind a bushel!
  3. No need to hide your light behind a bushel!
  4. ″I’m going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!″ I can’t wait to see it sparkle!
  5. This song is a continuation of Jesus’ statements in Luke, and it encourages us not to hide our light.

The song, on the other hand, misinterprets what Jesus is teaching in Luke 8.In other words, Jesus is not stating that we are the light that should not be covered; rather, he is saying that he is going to shine his light on us.When the light of Jesus comes into our hearts, we are not to conceal or block ourselves from this light in order to protect ourselves. Why would we want to keep ourselves hidden from the light?

  • The fact is that, while we are all scared of the dark, many of us are much more afraid of the light than we are of the darkness.
  • We are like to cockroaches, who scurry in dread when the sun’s rays penetrate our comfy hiding places in the dark, which we have made for ourselves.
  • We desire to be able to control the light rather than allowing the entirety of the light to come into our life.
  • However, we simply desire a ray of light to shine into our life, not the full spectrum of Jesus’ light.
  • Are you attempting to capture only a portion of the light?
  • Don’t put up barriers to keep it out.
  • When I was ten years old, a buddy of mine introduced me to the Playboy.
  • It took me a long time to tell anyone because I felt so terrible and embarrassed of myself.
  • The feelings of humiliation and remorse continued to deepen.

This is why we can’t just sit back and wait for things to happen.Every portion of our hearts must be exposed to the light in order for us to grow.We must confess our sins to God and to others, and we must let the light of Jesus to shine through us.

Satan is a huge fan of the dark.He enjoys it when we enable him to have access to the darkest recesses of our souls. The devil takes advantage of these footholds and uses them to undermine the work of Christ in our hearts. After traveling to Mount Sinai and meeting with God, Moses returned with the light of God shining on his face: ″Now when Moses returned from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand – when Moses returned from the mountain, Moses was unaware that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.″ Exodus 34:9 is an example of a parable.

  1. When we come face to face with Christ in all of his completeness, every dark corner of our hearts is illuminated.
  2. Every secret has been revealed, and every sin has been pardoned.
  3. Your face will glow with the brightness of God’s light as he sheds his light into the corners of your heart.
  4. As our hearts are lighted by the light of Christ, we emit that light.
  5. When you entered the Holy Place of the Temple, you would see a golden lampstand, which symbolized the divine presence.
  6. God’s meticulous attention to detail in ensuring that the ″earthly temple″ reflected His majesty is described in Exodus 25.
  • The presence of God was manifested among his people on Pentecost, as the fire of the Holy Spirit fell on those who stood outside the temple.
  • The tongues of fire portrayed in Acts 2 were symbolic of the light that radiated from the presence of God’s majesty into the early church community.
  • The presence of Christ is now upon us, and the light of Jesus radiates through our eyes and mouth.

So, are you willing to let the light of Jesus to shine into every dark corner of your heart? Will you allow the light of Jesus to shine through your own heart and soul? You are the light of his life!Shine!Permission has been granted to use.

What did Jesus mean when He said, “I am the Light of the World” (John 8:12)?

Answer to the question It is the second of Jesus’ seven ″I AM″ assertions, which are only found in John’s gospel, and indicate to His unique divine identity and mission.″I am the Light of the world″ (John 8:12) is the first of the seven ″I AM″ declarations of Jesus, which are only found in John’s gospel. When Jesus declared Himself to be the Light of the world, He was asserting that He is the only source of spiritual illumination. There is no other source of spiritual knowledge available to mankind at this time. There are two sorts of light in the world: visible light and invisible light.

We have the ability to perceive one or both, or neither! When we are born into this world, we sense physical light, and it is through this light that we learn about our Creator’s craftsmanship in the things we see. When we die, we perceive physical light again.

  1. Even if that light is beneficial, there is another Light, a Light that is so essential that the Son of God had to come into the world in order to both proclaim and transmit it to mankind.
  2. When Jesus spoke to the people for the second time, the Bible says, ″He said, ‘I am the Light of the World.’″ Nobody will ever walk in darkness again, but they will always have the light of life with them.’″ In this passage, the Lord uses an allegory to talk of the light of His Truth, the light of His Word, and the light of eternal Life, which is represented by the sun.
  3. Those who recognize the genuine Light will never walk in the darkness of the spiritual world.
  4. We light a candle and place it in a dark room to alleviate the gloom.
  5. Additionally, the Light of Jesus Christ must be brought into the darkness of sin that engulfs the souls and lives of people who do not believe and follow in His footsteps.

That is the prerequisite for possessing this Light—that we must follow Him in all things.Unless we follow Him, we will not have access to this light, this knowledge, and this eternal life that He offers.Physical light is required for the continuation of physical life.

  1. If there was no longer any sunshine, the earth’s climate would very probably alter very quickly.
  2. There is virtually little plant life on the ground in a forest full of trees with extremely thick canopies of leaves far above, with the exception of moss and lichen, which require minimal sunshine.
  3. Plants will never move away from the light; in fact, they are considered to be positively phototropic, meaning that they are driven to the light by the light.
  4. In the same manner, spiritual light is required for spiritual life, and this may serve as a helpful litmus test for our spiritual maturity and position in Christ.
  5. The believer will always have a preference for spiritual things; he will always have a preference for fellowship, prayer, the Word of God, and other such things.

As John 1:5 and 3:19–20 point us, the unbeliever constantly acts the polar opposite because light reveals his wickedness, and he despises the light.Indeed, no one can enter the genuine spiritual light of Jesus Christ unless he is empowered to do so by the Holy Spirit (John 6:37).Two promises in John 8:12 are conditional on the believer’s obedience to Jesus.First and foremost, His disciples will never walk in the dark, which is a reference to the certainty of salvation that we have as Christians.

  • Those who are truly followers of the Light will never follow in sin’s footsteps or continue to sin continuously (see 1 John 1:5–7; 2 Corinthians 6:14–15).
  • Rather, we repent of our sins in order to remain in close proximity to the Light of the world, Jesus Christ.
  • Second, we have promised to radiate the Light of Life to others around us.
  • In the same way that He came to be the Light of the world, He commanded us to be ″lights″ as well.
  • As described in Matthew 5:14–16, believers are referred to as ″the light of the world.″ Believers are called to reflect Christ’s Light in order for others to perceive it in us in the same way that the moon does not have its own light, but rather reflects the light of the sun.
  • The good actions we accomplish in faith and by the power of the Holy Spirit make the Light visible to others around us.
  • We are the Light to others.
  • Here, the emphasis is on maintaining an unmistakable and genuine testimony in the world, one that demonstrates our commitment to being reliable, God-honoring, dependable, sincere, earnest, and honest in whatever we do.
  • Aside from that, we should constantly be prepared to give an account of the hope that we have (1 Peter 3:15), for the gospel Light that we have is not to be hidden, but should be made plain for all to see and benefit from, in order for others to be drawn out of darkness and into the Light as well.

Jesus, the Light of the World

1st of November, 2020 Article to be saved It doesn’t matter where you look in God’s Word; you’ll always find that Christmas is about light, since Jesus is known as the Light of the World.Despite the fact that we love to sing ″Silent Night, Holy Night,″ this wonderful hymn is not about night or darkness at all.It all comes down to lighting.″You are the Son of God, the pure light of love.″With the dawn of redeeming grace, radiant rays from Thy heavenly face.″ Whenever we sing ″Hark!

The Herald Angels Sing,″ we are essentially saying, ″Hail, the Son of Righteous! His healing wings spread out throughout the world, bringing light and life to those who come to Him.″ We sing during Christmas because we have something to sing about, not because we are forced to.Light has been brought into this dark planet, and we will never have to stroll about in the dark again.

  1. However, it is not because of Christmas carols that we associate the term ″light″ with the Lord Jesus Christ.
  2. Beginning with a statement of who Jesus is, the apostle John starts his narrative of the life of the Lord Jesus Christ—not only from the manger onward, but also from the beginning of time itself.
  3. The first chapter of John shows us who Jesus was before the creation of the world and who He is today.
  4. It is He who is referred to as ″the Word″ in this passage: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1).
  5. He was there with God from the beginning.

Because of Him, all things were created, and without Him, nothing was created that was ever created. The life was in Him, and the life was the light that shone on all people. Moreover, the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness is unable to see it…

  1. That was the genuine Light, and it is this Light that illuminates every man that enters the earth.
  2. (See also John 1:1-5, 9) Consider the following: The birth of Jesus in Bethlehem did not mark the beginning of His life.
  3. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit have always existed in eternity before.
  4. A period when the phrase ″God in three Persons, Blessed Trinity…″ did not exist was a non-existent time.
  5. He does not have a beginning or an end.

In the prophet Isaiah’s prophecy about the coming of the Savior, he predicted that those who walked in darkness would be illuminated, and that those who lived in the valley of the shadow of death would have a light shining upon them.(See Isaiah 9:2-3) That light is the child about whom Isaiah speaks in the same chapter: ″For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder.″ (Isaiah 7:14) And His name will be Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace, among other titles. In Isaiah 9:6, the Bible says In 7th century BC, Zacharias, the father of John the Baptist, was enlightened by the Holy Spirit and predicted that the coming Messiah would……provide light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, and direct our steps into the path of peace.(See also Luke 1:79) The Holy Spirit was sending forth a message via Zacharias, declaring that the Messiah was on his way, giving light to people who were in darkness.

  • God bless the fact that light shone into the world at Bethlehem, since we are in urgent need of it right now.
  • Light is a beautiful representation of Jesus.
  • According to Luke 2:25-32, a pious elderly man called Simeon had been promised by God that he would not die before witnessing the birth of the Messiah.
  • During the same period of time that Joseph and Mary took Jesus to the temple as a child, he was guided there by the Holy Spirit.
  • In his arms, Simeon cradled the Lord Jesus and declared, ″…my eyes have seen Your salvation…
  • Gentiles will see the light, and Your people Israel will be glorified as a result of this light″ (Luke 2:30-32).
  • Christmas is a celebration of light.
  • In the Bible, Jesus is known as the Light of the World.

Jesus is the pure light.

The infant born in Bethlehem was the ″real Light″ (John 1:9), the pure light of the universe.Whenever the Bible refers to Jesus as ″the light of the world,″ it is making a statement about his spotless, immaculate purity as the Son of God.However, Jesus was never harmed by sin because He was never infected by it.He had the ability to touch sinners, yet He was never affected by sin.He had not been soiled.

He was ″in the world,″ yet he was not of the world, according to John 1:10.The fact that Jesus did not have His origins in this place makes Him pure and incorruptible Light.Nothing in the natural world is as pure as sunlight when it comes to purity.

  1. No matter what it travels through or what it comes into contact with, light can never be contaminated or corrupted.
  2. It is possible for light to fall on the most obnoxious item without the light being affected at all.
  3. Light reveals sin, yet it is unaffected by sin in any way.

Jesus is the constant light.

In the natural world, the speed of light remains constant at any given point in time.It doesn’t alter in any way.In his renowned Theory of Relativity, Albert Einstein stated that the only constant in the universe is the speed of light, which allowed him to develop his famous theory.Everything else is a matter of perspective. In the spiritual sphere, Jesus is our constant companion.

″Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever,″ the Bible declares in Hebrews 13:8.He is a man who will not be changed under any circumstances. The Bible says, ″Every good and perfect gift comes from above and down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change or shadow of turning.″ (James 1:17; cf.

  1. The sun does not exist in perpetuity; its energy is slowly depleted.
  2. It is possible that even the sun may cease to shine one day, but the light of Jesus will continue to illuminate Heaven for all of eternity.

Jesus is the source of light.

″The city did not require the light of the sun or the moon to enlighten it, since the glory of God lighted it. The Lamb is the source of light ″ (Revelation 21:23, emphasis added). Jesus will be our source of illumination when we are at the Holy City. We will bask in the direct beams of His illuminating light for the rest of our lives.

Jesus is the vital light.

He was ″the source of life, and the source of life was the light of humanity″ (John 1:4).The intertwining of light and life is unavoidable. It is impossible to have life without light.Plants create food as a result of photosynthesis, which is caused by light. The phrase ″let there be light″ was used by God in Genesis 1:1-2 to signal the beginning of order out of chaos.

Afterwards, He created oceans, which soon started to teem with life. The seeds of Earth began to grow and blossom as the year progressed. The very foundation of life is dependent on sunshine.

  1. Our world would become gloomy and dead if we didn’t have it.
  2. A light shines through the entrance of Your words″ (Psalm 119:130).
  3. When Jesus arrived on Earth in Bethlehem, He did so in order to offer us new life.
  4. Throughout His earthly career, He imparted life to all who were around him.
  5. According to him, ″I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly″ (John 10:10).

(See also John 10:10) When the Holy Spirit sent the light of the Gospel into our souls, divine photosynthesis occurred, bringing life to a place where there had previously been nothing but dead.

Jesus is the victorious light.

It is light that triumphs over darkness, not the other way around. It is said that ″the light shines in the darkness,″ but that ″the darkness cannot grasp it″ (John 1:5).Some versions use the word ″comprehend″ instead of ″understand.″ Those who believe in the power of darkness claim that it cannot overwhelm, stifle, overpower, extinguish, or snuff out the light. This represents the triumph of light over darkness. The tale of mankind is the story of a struggle between light and darkness throughout history.

Before he was sent into hell, Satan went by the name Lucifer, which means ″light bearer.″ However, Satan rebelled against God and committed a sin against the light, and as a result, he is no longer the light carrier.Lucifer, the son of the dawn, has been transformed into Satan, the father of the night.A diabolical darkness is currently engaged in combat with the light.

  1. That is the one who has to win?
  2. Darkness has no ability to stand up to the light.
  3. Simply turning on the light will cause the darkness to dissipate.
  4. Darkness has no ability to put out the flames of creativity.
  5. According to the Bible, our Lord is ″King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone possesses immortality, and who dwells in unapproachable brightness″ (1 Timothy 6:16).

You can dim the light, but you won’t be able to completely turn it off.Rather of spending so much time praying against the forces of evil, we must recognize the strength of the light. We should let the light of the Lord Jesus Christ shine out, and we should bear testimony to that light.

  1. One day, we will be transformed into the image of the Lord Jesus.
  2. Moreover, when we finally see Him, we’ll be like Him.
  3. We’ll be converted into His likeness in the process.
  4. We shall have crossed the threshold from time to eternity.

Let Jesus bring His light and life into your Christmas.

God be praised for the unchanging, unwavering light that is Jesus Christ! When the glorious light of the Son of God shines into your heart, no matter how cold and dark your world appears to be, it can be brought back to life. When Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden, the light and life of the human race were extinguished.Jesus, on the other hand, is the Light of the world. We bring Jesus into our lives as both Lord and Savior, and the One who entered time and space as a baby in Bethlehem comes in, turns on the light, and life begins for us in that moment.

He provides everlasting life.In case you aren’t sure whether or not you are saved, I’d like to guide you through a prayer right now, during which you can ask Christ to come into your heart.Pray the following prayer: My dear God, I am well aware that I am a sinner.

  1. I’m aware that You care about me and want to save me.
  2. If You are the Son of God, who died on the cross to pay for my sins, I believe You are my Savior.
  3. I am convinced that God raised You from the dead.
  4. Please accept me as a personal Lord and Savior as I repent and believe in Your promise to forgive me of my sins.
  5. Come into my heart, pardon my sins, and save me, Lord Jesus.

In Your name, I pray, Amen.If you prayed that prayer, let us help you with the next steps. Please click here for free downloadable resources or allow us to send you material in the mail to help you get started.

Light of the World – Wikipedia

The following is a detail from a stained glass representing Jesus: I am the sun of the universe, and I am the light of the world.Bantry is a town in Ireland. When Jesus used the term ″Light of the World″ to characterize himself and his disciples in the New Testament, it was known as ″Phs tou Kosmou″ (literally, ″Light of the World″).The phrase can be found in the Gospels of Matthew (5:14–16) and John (John 20:17–20).(8:12).

A direct connection may be seen between this tale and Jesus’ parables of Salt and Light and Lamp beneath a bushel, both of which appear in the Sermon on the Mount.

Gospel accounts

Referring to himself

In John 8:12, when discussing with the Jews, Jesus uses the term to refer to himself, saying, ″I am the light of the world.″ Anyone who follows me will never walk in the dark, but will always have the light of life shining in their hearts.John 9:5 recounts another instance in which Jesus claims to be the Light of the World, this time after a miracle of curing the blind at birth, when he says: ″When I am in the world, I am the Light of the World.″ This narrative serves as a prelude to John 9:39, in which Jesus figuratively explains why he came to this earth so that the blind would be able to see.The usage of the term Light of the World in a Christological context is analogous to the use of the title Food of Life in John 6:35, where Jesus declares, ″I am the bread of life; he who comes to me shall not hunger.″ Those affirmations are based on the Christological topic of John 5:26, in which Jesus claims to possess life in the same way as the Father does, as well as to grant it to those who believe. In John 6:51, Jesus refers to himself as ″the Life of the World,″ which has the same meaning as the word ″Life of the World.″

Referring to his disciples

In Matthew 5:14, Jesus used the phrase to refer to his disciples, saying, ″You are the light of the world.″ A city perched on a hill cannot be concealed.Nor do they light a lamp and place it beneath a basin of water.Instead, they place it on a stand, and it illuminates the entire home, illuminating everyone. In the same way, let your light shine before men so that they may notice your good acts and give thanks to your heavenly Father for them.It is also used in 1 John 1:5 to refer to God, who is described as ″light contrasted to darkness,″ and who says, ″God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.″

Johannine Dualism

In the Gospel of John, the following are examples of dualistic concepts:

Light Darkness
Known Unknown
Jesus Christ Moses
Heavenly Earthly
Above Not Above
Spirit Flesh
Sight Blindness
Insiders World
Day Night
  • Light and Darkness

The contrast between light and darkness in John’s gospel is a symbolically significant contrast that is vital to understanding the author of John’s gospel. The fourth gospel communicates some themes more frequently than any other literature in the New Testament, and this is especially true of the antithesis. In Essene literature, ″which regarded History as a perpetual war between Good and Evil, utilizing Light as a symbol of Truth and Righteousness and Darkness as a symbol of Falsehood and Evil,″ it is possible that the Johannine society inherited the symbolic usage of the antithesis Light-Darkness.The following are quotations from John that are diametrically opposed to one another: Known and Unknown Factors

  • John 12:35

You will have access to the light for a short period of time longer. Take a walk while the light is still there, before the darkness overtakes you. Anyone who walks in the dark will not be able to tell you where you are headed. John 17:3 (KJV) This is what it means to have eternal life: to know you, the one and only true God, as well as Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

  • Jesus Christ and Moses
  • John 3:14

In the same way that Moses hoisted up the serpent in the desert, the Son of Man must be lifted up in the same way. 4:6-8 (John 4:6-8).

Jacob’s well was nearby, and Jesus, exhausted from the long trek, took a seat by
