Eagles Band Member Joe Walsh is an Amazing AA Speaker

                                                1. Joe Walsh, the guitarist for the Eagles, has been sober for 27 years at the age of 72.
                                                2. During the 2018 Founder’s Day Conference in Akron, Ohio, when recovered alcoholics and addicts celebrated the 83rd anniversary of Alcoholics Anonymous, Walsh shared his tale of what it was like, what occurred, and what it’s like now.
                                                3. Walsh, like so many other alcoholics and addicts, remembers feeling ″strange″ as a child.
                                                4. He was afflicted by attention-deficit disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and Asperger’s syndrome, among other conditions.
                                                • ″I was different in that sense from the other kids, and I was afraid because of that.″ I was actually afraid because I felt foolish and alone, and I thought that no one could possibly understand me or my situation.
                                                • I attempted to play guitar in front of a group of people when I was in my late adolescence and failed miserably.
                                                • I was apprehensive.
                                                1. I was unable to complete the task.
                                                2. I took a deep breath and hyperventilated.
                                                3. I began to tremble uncontrollably.
                                                4. ″I burst into tears,″ Walsh admitted in a story on Billboard.com.
                                                • Walsh, on the other hand, discovered booze and found his remedy.
                                                • The use of alcohol and cocaine became his greater power, he explained.
                                                • ″I tore down all of the bridges.
                                                • No one wanted to collaborate with me.
                                                1. I was enraged.
                                                2. ″I’ve transformed into this godless, cruel creature.″ And, once again, like so many alcoholics and addicts, what was once a solution for Walsh became a source of frustration.
                                                3. When he completed treatment in 1994, he began attending several men’s meetings, where he heard recovering alcoholics with 30 and 40 years of sobriety educate him how they had achieved and maintained their sobriety.
                                                4. As Walsh stated in an article published by Rolling Stone, ″I met some old timers.″ ″They gradually demonstrated to me that I am not a one-of-a-kind human or a unique personality.″ ″I’m simply a recovering alcoholic, and for the first time in my life, I felt like I belonged anywhere.
                                                5. I was able to get clean as a result of a group of men and women who were recovered alcoholics supporting me.
                                                6. After a few of years, I began talking with other alcoholics and attempting to assist them in recovering.
                                                1. The only person who can help another person get clean is someone who has been there and done it themselves.
                                                2. I came to the realization that I do more good by demonstrating to others that there is life after addiction.″ To listen to Walsh’s complete presentation at the 2018 Founder’s Day Conference, please visit the following link: Leadership in Substance Abuse Treatment – The First Step Towards Recovering Contact First Step to Recovery Treatment Center, Houston, which is the industry leader in drug addiction treatment programs in Houston.

                                                                2. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the legendary Eagles guitarist jokes that ″if you ever want to do a big event on the internet, call us.″ The legendary Eagles guitarist was given a crash course in digital concert promotion when his annual VetsAid fundraiser moved online last month as a result of the pandemic.
                                                                3. In addition to Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper, Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, and Gwen Stefani, the ticketed event included a loaded roster of more than two dozen musicians, all of whom performed live in December but are no longer available to view.
                                                                4. There were acoustic performances by Vince Gill and Metallica’s James Hetfield, and spirited Zoom calls with Walsh and his friends Ringo Starr and Stevie Van Zandt, among other highlights.
                                                                • ″These kind of gatherings are simple in that you simply ask folks respectfully and hope that a couple will sign up, but everyone answered yes.
                                                                • That’s a nice thing, but it wasn’t something we had anticipated ″Walsh expresses himself.
                                                                • ″Working through it and getting everything to work virtually was a tremendous lesson in putting things together — this is not something that can be done on the cheap.
                                                                1. The event, however, went quite well, and we made a surprisingly large amount of money for a virtual event.″ VetsAid 2020, which is now in its fourth year, will disperse proceeds in the form of grants totalling $250,000 to a range of veterans support groups around the country.
                                                                2. Exclusively through USA TODAY, the complete list of winners will be revealed.
                                                                3. The LGBTQ discharged veterans, Black vet help, deported veterans, a Native American reservation veterans center, and a women veterans program were some of the causes Walsh wants to promote this year.
                                                                4. In order to aid the most people, ″(we wanted) to support the areas that needed it the most,″ says Christian Quilici, Walsh’s stepson who helped start VetsAid and now serves as the organization’s executive director.
                                                                • They sought for businesses that had a good reputation ″Diversity on boards and a specific percentage of minority participation are important considerations.
                                                                • Consequently, when Dad urged us to make certain that we gave special consideration to such organizations, that was our objective.″ Walsh, 73, says that organizing this year’s VetsAid event has only increased his desire to get back on the road.
                                                                • When the coronavirus shut down most of the United States in March, the Eagles were in the midst of their ″Hotel California″ tour, performing their legendary 1976 record in its whole.
                                                                • The tour has been postponed until this autumn, and Walsh is hoping his hopes that live music will be able to resume in a secure environment before then.
                                                                1. Touring is a need for musicians ″is a part of who we are.
                                                                2. Clearly, there’s a beast here that has to be fed ″Walsh, who is feeling well after receiving his first dosage of the COVID vaccination, shares his thoughts.
                                                                3. ″We get disorientated – It’s been a year since I last played.
                                                                4. The COVID experience is a case study on the nature of human beings.
                                                                5. I had some free time, and I had no option but to spend it getting to know Joe Walsh: not the rock star, but the obtuse Ohioan.″ Walsh, who has been sober for more than 27 years, claims he has been attending virtual sober alcoholics meetings, as well as working puzzles and playing rummy tiles with his family and Starr, who he refers to as ″Uncle Ringo″ and who is a member of his ″pod.″ Meanwhile, he has been presenting a rock radio show and working on some new solo material..
                                                                6. Even so, he cautions, ″I’ve got to be careful there,″ he says, laughing.
                                                                1. ″’We’re all going to die!’ was the title of my first song.
                                                                2. And then I thought to myself, ″Wait a minute.″ Perhaps I should wait a few of days before attempting again.″ It’s possible that the epidemic will make its way into future Eagles songs.
                                                                3. As Walsh explains, ″I believe that the Eagles, whenever we get back together and go to work, will talk about the experience that we had and perhaps come up with some new songs.″ For the time being, ″It’s a little difficult to get a hold on things.
                                                                4. However, I believe that many individuals will be writing about their experiences as things begin to get back on track.″ The following individuals will receive VetsAid grants in 2020: Grants to the Community
