What Would Jesus Do? 10 Daily Choices To Be More Like Him

According to the Bible, we are to be transformed into the image of Jesus in order to be like Him (Romans 8:29).We are to put on Christ’s thinking in order to be effective (I Corinthians 2:16).Every minute of every day, we should aim to act in the manner in which Jesus would act if he were in the same conditions that we are currently in.In order to become more like Jesus, what everyday decisions should we make are important to consider. In the fifth chapter of the Gospel of Matthew, we see Jesus instructing a group of individuals on how they should conduct themselves.

Let us analyze how we might make decisions that will help us become more like Jesus Christ, using this chapter as a broad outline.

Christians Must Rely Daily on a Close Relationship With God

We must acknowledge our helplessness to rescue ourselves as a primary attribute of a disciple of Jesus.According to Matthew 5:3, ″Blessed are the poor in spirit, because theirs is the kingdom of heaven″ (Matt.5:3 ESV).Instead of focusing just on our bodily demands, we must consider our spiritual requirements. As Christians, we must remember that the capacity to live a holy life is a gift given by God to those who ask.

We do not live the Christian life just on the strength of our own will. Our spirit, aside from a personal relationship with Jesus, is helpless in the face of the temptations and powers that attempt to bring us to our knees in submission. The flames of our relationship with God must be constantly fanned, therefore we must be watchful.Throughout the day, I make an effort to have a steady dialogue with God.

Christians Should Be In Constant Prayer To God

We must pray without stopping (I Thessalonians 5:17), so that we can boldly walk in the power of the Holy Spirit while we go about our daily activities.Throughout the day, I make an effort to have a steady dialogue with God.Instead of only thinking to myself, I aim my thoughts toward God and the universe around me.I ask Him questions, express my emotions, and wait for His response to come through my spirit.Attempting to maintain a constant line of communication with Him, I hope that my every decision and behavior will be influenced by Him and His will.

Christians Should Choose To Be Empathetic

According to the Bible, ″Blessed are those who mourn, because they will be comforted″ (Matt.5:4 ESV).Believers should be compassionate toward others, showing concern for their well-being while they are in distress. When a person is going through a difficult time or a catastrophe has struck their lives, all they require is someone who understands what they are going through to accompany them through it.To be a person who walks beside someone who is struggling and helps them through their troubles is to demonstrate the love of Jesus to them.

Christians Should Choose a Godly Attitude Concerning Success

In the words of King Solomon, ″Blessed are the humble, because they shall inherit the earth″ (Matt.5:5 ESV).True believers must avoid displaying arrogance that turns people away from their cause. When it comes to becoming successful, whether in business or during a disagreement, we often believe that the best way to do it is to push others out of the way. That was not the way Jesus was, and He does not want us to be that way either.

Many non-Christians believe that the most distinguishing quality of Christianity is ‘arrogance.’ We should choose not to be arrogant in the face of this criticism.

Christians Should Choose To Control Their Anger

As Christians, we must refrain from expressing uncontrollable rage.According to Colossians 3:7-9, the believer is no longer dominated by emotions like as rage, but is instead able to resist the temptation to indulge in sins of this sort. The Bible informs us that we can feel furious at the things that God is angry with, such as sin and the cruel, damaging ways that men act, but we must not sin as a result of our anger, according to the Bible (Ephesians 4:26).

Christians Should Choose To Seek Holiness

In the words of Jesus, ″Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, because they will be filled″ (Matt.5:6 ESV).The supreme desire of a believer should be to live a holy life (I Peter 1:15-16).A large part of our culture believes that nothing is off bounds. For many people today, as it has been for quite some time, the slogan continues to be ″If it feels good, do it.″ As a result of our sin-soaked media, we are taunted and tempted to engage in activities that God does not want us to undertake.

We must be conscious of the fact that we are confronted with this temptation on a daily basis, and we must live in the life of the Holy Spirit in order to be able to resist the temptation to conform to the world’s standards (Romans 12).The Bible provides us the resources we need to overcome temptation (I Corinthians 10:13), but it is up to us to decide whether or not to put those resources to use.

Christians Should Choose To Extend Mercy To Others

In the words of Jesus, ″Blessed are the compassionate, for they will receive mercy″ (Matt.5:7 ESV).When it comes to loving our adversaries and doing good for those who persecute us, the Bible provides clear guidance (Luke 6:27-29).Never allow ourselves to become enslaved by the notion that we should exact vengeance on someone who has wronged us.God informs us that it is not our job to seek vengeance or to exact retribution against those who have wronged us.

God is the only one who can make such types of decisions (Deuteronomy 32:35; Romans 12:19; Hebrews 10:30).According to a scripture in Luke chapter 7, even sinners are drawn to people who first love and care for them.We are to love people who do not love us, and in doing so, we shall demonstrate God’s love while also receiving blessings in the process. This is behaving in the same way that God behaves (Luke 7:32-36).

The Christian Should Choose Daily To Study God’s Word

In the words of Jesus, ″Blessed are the pure in heart, because they shall see God″ (Matt.5:8 ESV).We are transformed by God’s Word as a result of our reading, learning, and application of it.As we study God’s Word, we develop a greater understanding of His character, and we are fortified to face the challenges of a sinful society (Romans 12:2).Ultimately, God has provided us with His Word so that we may have a written record of His dealings with mankind, so that we may know His will and how we should react to Him, and so that we may know how we should respond to Him.

We must, however, be attentive in our reading and studying of the Bible, and we must allow it, together with the power of the Holy Spirit, to transform us into the image of Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29).

The Christian Should Choose To Be a Force For Good in the World

‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God,’ declares the Bible (Matt.5:9 ESV).When it comes to conflict resolution, Christians should strive to be more than just fuel for the fire of disagreements. The believer in Jesus should not only strive to avoid becoming a source of unnecessarily tension or conflict, but we should also strive to be peacemakers in the world. When it is within our capacity to do so, we should make every effort to resolve disputes and restore calm to unstable circumstances.

The Christian Must Choose To Endure Suffering For Jesus’ Sake

″Blessed are those who are persecuted for the cause of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven,″ says Jesus. When people unjustly accuse you of being a traitor and persecute you, and when they say all manner of evil against you on my behalf, you are blessed.″Rejoice and be joyful, for your reward in heaven will be great, since they persecuted the prophets who came before you in the same way″ (Matt.5:10-12).Jesus was persecuted and killed for our sakes, and He warns us that we shall suffer as well: ″I have spoken these things to you in order that you may have peace with me.

See also:  What Was Jesus Doing Between 13 And 30?

″ You will have difficulties in this life. But don’t lose heart; I have triumphed over the world″ (John 16:33 ESV).Jesus did not claim that we would not face trials and hardships in this life; rather, He stated that we would face such challenges and difficulties. However, He also tells us that He will be with us and will see us through any troubles that we may face.

Conclusion

God has given mankind the capacity to make their own decisions.Either we participate in our connection with God via Christ, or we disregard the things that maintain our relationship with Him fresh and invigorated, is a choice we can make every day. This decision about which route we will follow Jesus is made only by our own choice. Will we choose not to do the things that keep us near to God, allowing our connection with Him to wander away from Him, and possibly allowing our faith to come crashing down around us?My hope is that every believer would take the steps necessary to get closer to God and be transformed into someone who embodies the very characteristics of our loving Creator.

I think that this is possible. Each of us must make a decision on this matter.

  1. a.
  2. leap out and shock him, but not as terribly as he did it to you b.
  3. spring out and scare him equally violently; as the Old Testament says, ″an eye for an eye.″ c.

terrify him more than he terrified you; that way, he’ll realize you have more power and shouldn’t mess with you.d.inform him that you had the opportunity to scare him but chose not to since you don’t appreciate being treated that way.D is the correct answer.

  1. Answer While A symbolizes Old Testament thought, which has been superseded by the principle of ″don’t repay evil for evil,″ B represents the opposite of that concept.
  2. Children should understand that being a greater bully does not make you better; rather, it makes you worse than the bully.
  3. D imparts the lesson of treating others the way you would like to be treated – otherwise known as the Golden Rule.

4.You microwaved popcorn and it became burnt. You are well aware that your mother will be enraged by the odor and your recklessness.Jack, your friend, has just departed.Besides, she is not going to shout at him, so no one will be in trouble if you claim that he accidentally popped the popcorn and set the timer to an excessively high setting. What do you think Jesus would do?

A simple ″he burnt the popcorn″ explanation will suffice to ensure that no one is injured.c.Speak the truth to your mother.Even if she screams, it could be a good time to point out that her shouting isn’t always justified.″That Jack! What the hell is wrong with him?″ you can say.

You’re not technically deceiving someone because you’re only hinting.d.Tell your mother the truth and remind her of the awful stench she inhaled when she burnt the meatloaf the previous week; if she shouts, point out her hypocrisy.B is the correct answer.A and C are deceiving you.

Inferring a falsehood is the same as telling a lie.D may be brutally honest, but if you want someone to listen to you, don’t put them on the defensive in the first place.B is the ideal option since it not only reveals the truth, but it also creates a chance for open and honest dialogue that you would not otherwise have.5.

  3. B is the worst, as he is extremely devious and careless.
  4. In the case of those who do not have physically challenged sisters, lying out loud is a risky strategy, especially when you simply want to enjoy the sweets for yourself.
  5. D is the most logical option.

You might just tell her that you went for a stroll with the dog. She’ll never know the difference because the dog can’t communicate, even if he’s in desperate need of the bathroom. What do you think Jesus would do?

B puts you in the position of the unfortunate dog, and you may find yourself in difficulty; C and D do not put you in the position of the poor dog, and you may be able to observe the Golden Rule with a pet.If you were a dog and you had to go, how would you feel if this youngster just sat on the couch and watched you go through your ordeal?A is not only the correct choice, but it also provides an opportunity to speculate.God has given us the gift of imagination, and who knows what it may lead to?Perhaps you will be able to come up with even better dialogue than what was written in the screenplay!7.

  • You witness a student copying answers from the student sitting next to him during a school test.
  • The dishonest youngster, on the other hand, is rather large and intimidating.
  • You’re not sure if you want to put him in danger by telling him the truth.

  3. Best Christians are those who watch out for Jesus, what is good and bad, as well as what Jesus would do if he were here.
  4. As indicated in response C, Jesus did tell his followers to scream things from the rooftops, but he also warned them not to toss their pearls before swine in order to have them trampled underfoot.

  • 8.
  • Your pals want to go for a walk on the frozen lake once it has thawed.
  • Your mother has warned you against doing this, and you have told your friends as well.

  • a.

go out onto the ice with them to practice. The ice is unlikely to break, and your mother will never know; b.accompany them out onto the ice, but only for a few inches, so that you are not making waves and are also not putting yourself in the danger your mother warned you about; c.explain how dangerous it is, but if they refuse to listen, simply return home.c.

Inform them of the danger they are in and threaten to inform your mother.D is the correct answer. In many cases, children will unwittingly perform things that are life or death in nature.

  • A true friend is one who tells the truth; every year, children fall through ice and drown, all of which could have been avoided if they had listened to adults’ warnings and avoided walking on ice.
  • Answer A might end up costing you your life, and B isn’t actually doing anything to assist.
  • It’s self-indulgent, and if a buddy were to fall through the ice and die, your guilt would continue for a long time afterwards.

Even though C is being more truthful, this incident reinforces the potentially hazardous false value that ″Never rat out your pals.″ It has happened that children have ended up in hospitals, juvenile prison institutions, and drug treatment programs because their companions refused to seek aid from authorities.Even if you respond, ″Well, it wasn’t my business to inform,″ the guilt that follows when a buddy suffers the worst effects because you did nothing is difficult to overcome. The more often we remember to ask ourselves, ″What would Jesus do?″ the more probable it is that we would do things that are agreeable to Him in our lives.

Someday, we shall see Jesus face to face, and wouldn’t it be the finest thing in the world to hear him say, ″Well done, good and loyal servant?″ Wouldn’t it be the best thing that has ever happened to us?Is there anything else that matters at a moment like this?Think your pupils will appreciate this Bible game and benefit from the lesson it teaches?Do you think they will? Please share your thoughts in the section below! Please join me on Facebook, where I will offer more amazing Bible game ideas and you will be able to engage with other members of the community.

WWJS? Bible Lesson and Game: ″What Would Jesus Do and Say?

″What Would Jesus Do and Say?″ is a Bible lesson and game based on the question ″What Would Jesus Do and Say?″ Scripture Verses to Recall from Memory 7:12 (Matthew 7:12) Consequently, in everything, treat people as you would like them to treat you.″ Philippians 2:3–4 (KJV) Do nothing out of selfish desire or conceit, but instead, with humility, consider others to be better than you are yourself.Consider not only your own interests, but also those of others when you consider your own decisions.DISCUSSION Before Playing WWJD?is a famous statement that Christians of all ages wear and exhibit on a variety of things, including bracelets, t-shirts, tote bags, bumper stickers, and several other items.Have you, on the other hand, ever seen them worn or shown by persons who have not behaved in the manner in which a Christian should behave?

What do you think of someone who professes to believe one thing but then acts in a completely opposite way?Is it possible to put your faith in someone like that?Is it possible for someone your age to wear the motto WWJD and not conduct in a Christ-like manner, as a Christian?None of us are without flaws. In truth, we all make mistakes from time to time by acting in ways that are contrary to Christ’s teachings. However, we must all examine our hearts on a regular basis to determine whether or not our actions and words are consistent with Christ’s teachings.

  1. Otherwise, Jesus instructs us to repent, which literally means to turn away from our sin and toward Him..
  2. We may expect Jesus to forgive us and purify our hearts if we follow his instructions.
  3. When we seek the Holy Spirit for assistance, he will assist us in following our Lord with faithfulness.
  4. Reading and studying God’s Word is the most important method we can learn about him and his ways.
  5. According to God’s Word, ″Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your courses; lead me in your truth and teach me…″ Psalm 25:4-5 states, ″Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your routes…″ To put it another way, we must first determine What Jesus Would Say?
  1. (WWJS?) before we can determine what he would really do.
  2. We learn what God has to say through reading his Word and attending church services, where we listen to our professors and pastors.
  3. The fact that what you are being taught is congruent with the teachings of the Bible, on the other hand, is extremely vital to know.
  4. The Bible is ALWAYS the last word on any subject.
  • ″All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man (woman, boy, or girl) of God may be fully equipped for every good task,″ God says in his Word.
  • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 is a passage of scripture.
  • Let’s play WWJD right now to keep these principles fresh in our minds!
  • Constructing a Structure For this project, you’ll need at least four index cards as well as twine, clothespins, and rubber bands.

The letters ″W,″ ″W,″ ″J,″ and ″D″ should be written on the backs of each of your index cards on one side.(Make additional WWJD card sets for use in team games or for big groups of people.) Alternatively, you may put a discussion topic on the back of each card, such as ″What does it mean to do to others as you would have them do to you?″ ″Can you describe your natural reaction when you have been wronged by others?Give an example of how you might transform your normal reaction into a supernatural reaction.″ ″How do you ensure that your acts and words are consistent with your religious beliefs?Explain.″ If you’re around friends who don’t believe in God, do you find it difficult to follow Jesus?″ ″Can you tell me why or why not?″ ″When could your good deeds (kindness, generosity, and justice) provide you with a chance to share your faith in Jesus?″ ″Does it matter more if a young person or an adult follows in the footsteps of Jesus?″ Explain.″ ″Could someone’s improper deeds or nasty words ever dissuade someone from believing in God?″ asks the author.Explain.″ In what circumstances can children your age not want to love and follow God?Explain.″ The question is, ″What can youngsters your age do to assist others in learning about Jesus?″ To add more questions to the game, send an email to [email protected].

  1. Instructions on How to Play Attach the index cards to the end of each of the clothespins using a piece of masking tape (the part that you pinch).
  2. Attach the string to one end of your room’s wall and hang it across the other end (not against the wall).
  3. Attach the index cards to the thread with the WWJD letters facing the players by clipping the pins securing them to the string.

Determine a firing line (it should be 2-4 feet away from you).Players take turns firing rubber bands at the cards using a rubber band gun.If a player hits a card, flip the card over and have the group examine the topic it raises. If you’re playing in a team, the other team has to answer as well.

  1. If a player fails to hit a card, the ball is passed to the next person or team in the game.
  2. This pattern of play continues until all of the cards have been turned over and reviewed.
  3. If you’re playing as a group, the winning team is the one who hits all of the cards and has a discussion about them.

If you are playing in teams, however, make sure that everyone has the opportunity to engage in the discussion period.S.A.Keith is the owner of the copyright.

NEW GAME: What would Jesus do? Players decide answers to modern moral dilemmas

The Sun |Religious Beliefs When you’re unpacking from a vacation, you notice that you’ve mistakenly packed two hotel towels in your bag by mistake. You: A.) Keep them in your possession. It was an accident, and they will not be missed by the hotel.B.) Contact the hotel and inquire as to whether they would like them returned.

C.) Return the towels in an anonymous manner. What would you do in this situation? What do you think your buddies would do?What do you think Jesus would do?That last question, which has become something of a national anthem for young people who wear World War I and World War II bracelets, necklaces, and T-shirts, is being posed in a new game that was developed with the assistance of the Rev.John Graden, a Toledo, Ohio, priest who served as the game’s theological consultant.

  1. WWJD The Game includes 600 situations that push players to examine how they and their fellow players would behave in the face of contemporary moral difficulties, as well as what Jesus would do in the same situation.
  2. Graden explained that, while the game does answer the WWJD question in part, the underlying problem isn’t exactly what Jesus of Nazareth would do in a certain situation.
  3. In today’s world, he explained, ″it is we who are the body of Christ.″ Cadaco, the Chicago-based company that produces Tripoley, Bible Trivia, and Cats Eye, developed the WWJD game.
  4. It is aimed at teens and adults, and it includes an interactive board with playing pieces as well as tokens and chips as well as stacks of cards that present a variety of scenarios with two or three possible resolutions for each scenario.
  5. First-level play involves attempting to anticipate a certain player’s response to a specific challenge in one of four categories: the world, the community, one’s own family, and one’s own friends.
  1. Cards and tokens are used to award players for making accurate guesses or for successfully stumping their opponents.
  2. WWJD The second level of the game is comprised of ″reflection questions,″ in which the participants are asked to determine what Jesus would do in a certain situation.
  3. Graden has prepared a Spiritual Guide that players can use to look out relevant Bible references if they so want.
  4. It is more common for the reflection questions to be more serious in character as well as more open-ended than the questions asked during the initial portion of the game.
  • For example, one such inquiry inquires as to how Jesus would counsel a business owner on how to deal with a decision to safeguard a company’s financial health by laying off workers.
  • Graden believes that, despite the serious nature of some of the issues, participating in the game may be a lot of fun.
  • WORD Consultants is the organization under which Graden works as the director.
  • He is usually seen leading retreats and doing parish missions in his spare time.

Upon hearing from another priest, the Rev.Thomas Helfrich, pastor of St.Mary of Good Counsel Parish in Adrian, Ohio, that Cadaco was looking for a theological consultant for his current project, the Rev.Helfrich reached out to Cadaco.’I got in touch with John, and it turned out that he was the ideal resource,’ Oess explained.Someone who was in tune with teens and understood the Bible well enough to match each question with its appropriate Bible verse was what he was searching for, but who would not adopt a very denominational approach was what he found.

  1. The Toledo priest collaborated with a writer in Baraboo, Wisconsin, and an editor in Racine, Wisconsin, via e-mail, fax, and conference call to ensure that the cases on the game cards were theologically and morally sound.
  2. Graden, who holds master’s degrees in religion and religious education, estimated that he put in around 150 hours on the project.
  3. The WWJD phenomenon, which began with a church youth group in Holland, Michigan, was familiar to Graden before he accepted the WWJD position, he said.

He had even purchased a couple of WWJD bracelets before accepting the WWJD position.WWJD was first introduced to Oess at the 1997 Christian Booksellers Convention in Orlando, Florida.″I inquired of our distributor about the latest trends in the industry. He also stated that you should pay attention to WWJD ″he explained.

  1. After looking over all the T-shirts, bracelets, and key chains, Oess naturally asked himself, ″Why don’t I do a game?″ He thought of Scruples, a game that had done well in the secular game market a few years ago, and decided such a game would be appropriate for his company, which has produced other religious games over the years.
  2. After focus-group testing with Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran and Roman Catholic youth groups, WWJD The Game came out in August and is available from major retailers and Christian bookstores.
  3. Some Christian radio stations, mostly in the South, are even playing the game on the air and giving it away as a prize.

  2. This pattern of play continues until all of the cards have been turned over and reviewed.
  3. If you’re playing as a group, the winning team is the one who hits all of the cards and has a discussion about them.

WWJD is a series of provocative questions intended to elicit thinking and discussion among Christians of all denominations.Following the distribution of Situation cards, players are confronted with real-world problems in four categories: the world, the community, the family, and friends.Among other things, drunkenness, domestic abuse, infidelity, and racism are examples of situations to watch out for.Less serious concerns, such as resentment over a forgotten birthday, are also handled in this section.Situation cards present the player with a choice between three possible responses (as well as the opportunity to come up with a different answer entirely).

A fifth card type, Reflection, presents open-ended questions that can be answered in any way.Cloning, abortion, and taxation are just a few of the topics covered on a Reflection card. The players come up with their own responses to these cards, guided by their own religious beliefs and, if necessary, the Spiritual Guide that is given. The replies are then reviewed by all of the participants with the purpose of expanding their understanding of Jesus and what he would do in the same situation as they are in.-Wendy Slotboom, author of ″Wendy Slotboom’s World″
