Criticism and Reception

Hillsong Worship’s “passionate, faith-based sound” was lauded by music reviewer Matt Collar, who said that fans of the group “would undoubtedly love this expressive, uplifting Christian pop.” Hillsong Worship’s music is available on iTunes. However, theologian and pastor John Piper has criticized this hymn as heresy, stating that he does not agree with the lyrics. It seems to fit too readily into a theology of a God who created because he was lonely, and then saved mankind because he was also lonely thereafter.

  1. —John Piper, in his own words Another pastor, Sam Storm, expressed criticism of the song along similar lines, but refrained from labeling it “heretical” in his remarks.
  2. Jake Gosselin attributed the song’s appeal in the Christian community to a variety of things, according to the musician.
  3. In practice, this relates to the song’s “narrow vocal range,” which is defined as “one note over an octave” in terms of pitch.
  4. He also mentions that the song is composed in the key of D, which he believes is “the most appropriate key for both men and women to sing in.”

Chart performance

“What a Beautiful Name” was released digitally globally on January 6, 2017, and peaked at number one on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs list on February 25, 2017. The single has been at the top of the Hot Christian Songs chart for 37 weeks, making it the third-longest-running No. 1 in the list’s 14-year history and the third-longest-running No. 1 overall. The song ” Oceans (Where Feet May Fail ) “, which was published by another Hillsong unit, Hillsong United, holds the distinction of being the longest-running No.

  • “Oceans” was the number one song on the Hot Christian Songs list for 61 weeks.
  • In addition to becoming the No.
  • 3 song on the Christian Streaming Songs chart, and it is also the No.
  • Hillsong Worship’s first No.
  • 1 overall.
  • “What a Beautiful Name” is a song from Hillsong Worship’s 25th live album, Let There Be Light, which was released in January of this year.

Hillsong Worship’s “What a Beautiful Name” was awarded the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song at the 60th Grammy Awards, marking the first time the band has received this honor.

Live performances

The song was recorded live at the Hillsong Conference in 2016, during a live performance of the song. During the 48th Annual Dove Awards, which were hosted at Allen Arena in Nashville, Hillsong United performed the song. Audience members were “on their feet with their hands in the air” after the performance, which got positive feedback. According to Ligertwood, when questioned about singing the song in an interview with Billboard’s Jim Asker, the majority of the audience members were already aware with the tracks since they were a part of the church and because we sing these songs in church on a daily basis.

Ultimately, we hope that the song will strike a chord with them.

Lastly, she shared her thoughts on her performance of the song: “I suppose that when I am leading the song, my voice is myself, but it is also my prayer first, that I am there to serve others and unite with them in the presence of God.” Individuals may feel their spirits being elevated when they make connections with you.

When individuals get together, it is liberating for them, as it breaks down barriers and fosters faith.”

Other versions

During the month of July 2017, the Voices of Lee, a “elite” a cappella singing group, uploaded a video of the song on their social media website. The cover became an instant smash, with more than 5 million views in only two days, exceeding the so-called viral threshold. As of October 2017, it had had a total of 33 million page views. It was filmed at the chapel of Lee University in Tennessee, where the group is representing the school’s name.

Bible Verses for What A Beautiful Name

While I first disliked this song because of its repetitious chorus (which, in my opinion, epitomizes the 7-11 image of modern Christian worship), I eventually came around to it. First and foremost, the passages are strong and replete with allusions to God’s written Word. Second, the choruses are entirely accurate. We worship our Lord in the name that is lovely, amazing, and strong. To conclude, there are several melodies that repeat over and over again in the psalms. For example, I’m curious as to what current worship critics think of Psalm 136 and all of the “For His love endureth forevers.”

What A Beautiful Name

Submitted by Ben Fielding and Brooke Ligertwood Verse 1: You were the Word from the very beginning of time. One with God, the Most High, the Almighty. 1 John 1:3–4 Beginning with the creation of the Word, and with God from the beginning of time, the Word became God. The book of Hebrews (1:1-2) God, after spoken to the fathers via the prophets in various segments and in various ways for a long time, has spoken to us in His Son, whom He named heir of all things and through whom He also created the world in these latter days.

  1. In Colossians 1:15-17, the apostle Paul speaks of Jesus Christ.
  2. Due to His creative power, everything in the universe—both visible and unseen, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—has been formed by Him and for Him, whether in the heavens or on earth.
  3. He is the beginning and the end of all things, and in Him all things are held together.
  4. Chorus 1:What a wonderful name it is, what a beautiful name it is, what a beautiful name it is In the name of Jesus Christ, my King, I address you.
  5. What a wonderful name it is, nothing compares to the beauty of the name of Jesus.
  6. Because you didn’t want paradise without us,*Jesus, you sent heaven crashing down around you.
  7. In John 12:32, Jesus declared “And I, if I am raised up from the ground, will bring all men to Myself,” says the Lord.

My sin was terrible, but your love was much greater.

Paul writes in Romans 5:20-21 that The Law was instituted in order for transgression to multiply; nevertheless, where sin multiplied, grace increased even more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, grace would reign in righteousness to eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Chorus No.

There is nothing that compares to the lovely name that Jesus has given us.

What a beautiful name Jesus has, and what a great name it is.

God also elevated Him as a result of this, and bestowed on Him the name that is above all names, so that at the mention of Jesus’ name, every knee will bend, whether in heaven or on earth or under the earth, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

  1. In Acts 2:24, we read about Jesus.
  2. Matthew 27:50-51 (NASB) And Jesus cried out with a loud voice once again, this time yielding up His spirit.
  3. You put an end to the boasting of sin and death.
  4. The sting of death, where have you gone?
  5. The heavens are resounding with adoration for Your majesty.
  6. Psalm 19:1 (KJV) The skies proclaim the glory of God, and their vastness proclaims the accomplishments of His hands.
  7. God, on the other hand, resurrected Him from the dead, putting an end to the pain of death since it was impossible for Him to be kept under its control.
  8. In Hebrews 1:3-4, the Bible speaks of Jesus.
  9. When He had completed the cleansing of sins, He sat down at the right side of the Majesty on high, having achieved a level of excellence equal to or greater than that of the angels, as He had inherited a name that was more excellent than theirs.
  10. God, you are the one who reigns now and forever.

And the Lord God will grant Him the throne that His father David formerly occupied; and He will reign over the family of Jacob for all of eternity, and His kingdom will have no beginning and no end, as prophesied by the prophet Micah.” The kingdom and glory are yours; you alone are worthy of them.

Amen.’ Yours is the most illustrious of all names.

3: Wow, what a strong name it is, what a strong name it is.

That’s what Jesus’ name means: “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” * Regarding some of the controversies surrounding these lyrics, I realize that God did not create us because He need our assistance.

Father, I wish that they, as well as those who have been assigned to Me, be present with Me where I am so that they may share in My glory which You have given Me, because You have loved Me before the foundation of the world,” Jesus remarked in John 17:24.

In my opinion, the author’s main argument is that God loved us enough to create us even though He knew we would reject Him and to redeem us, despite the fact that we were unworthy of His redemption.

The Lord’s Name is Jesus. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1-5 – “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” He was there with God at the beginning of time. All things were created through him, and nothing that has been created would have been possible without him. There was life in him, and that life was the source of illumination for all of mankind. Although the darkness has not yet overtaken the light, it still glows brightly in the gloom.” Philippians 2:6-11 – Philippians 2:6-11 – “Who, despite the fact that he was created in the image of God, did not consider his equality with God something to be exploited for his personal gain
  • Rather, he reduced himself to nothingness by adopting the exact character of a servant, having been created in the image of man. And, having been discovered in the guise of a man, he humbled himself by becoming submissive to death—even death on the cross! As a result, God exalted him to the highest position and bestowed upon him the name that is above all names, so that at the mention of Jesus’ name, every knee should bow, in heaven, on earth, and beneath the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Over the past several months, I’ve found myself in periods of ungratefulness and ungraciousness much too frequently. Grumbling and complaining are two things I find myself prone to doing with full disrespect for the numerous and plentiful gifts I have been given by my Father. In that moment, I thought to myself, “God must be looking at me and feeling very disappointed in what I have done with everything He has given me.” When I take a step back and look at everything I’ve been given, I realize that I have no cause to be dissatisfied. I am fortunate to have a partner who loves me completely and who is willing to put up with both the good and the bad that I put him through. I have a child that is really empathetic and kind, and I believe I could learn a great deal from her. My family is extremely supportive, and they will travel long distances simply to see me. The church I attend serves as my spiritual home, and it is filled with brothers and sisters in Christ who are devoted to the vocation of following Him. I have a roof over my head, and I have enough money coming in each month to keep it up. Seriously, what is it that I have to be unhappy about?! However, my innate need for perfection sets off a downward cycle of dissatisfaction in my life. This is what God has been bringing to the forefront and telling me where I need to make changes over the past several months. The last of the leaves have began to fall from the trees in my part of Southwestern Ontario, which has been happening this past week. In an effort to clean our property of all of the leaves before the first flakes of winter arrive, I have spent many hours, with and without assistance, striving to do so. This might happen at any time now that we’re far into November and we’re surrounded by the Great Lakes! And my manner gets less and less polite as I fill bag after bag of leaves after bag after bag after bag of leaves. I’m becoming increasingly irritated with my next-door neighbor’s tree, which hangs so precisely over the property line that I end up with the majority of his leaves. In the distance, I see the wind blowing in all directions, blowing leaves back into the section of the yard that I’d already cleaned. It bothers me to see the millions of leaves that need to be bagged and, when I’m on my alone, it makes me feel like I’m the only one who has the responsibility of completing this chore. My spouse is currently halfway across the world assisting others in need, while I am raking leaves and complaining because he isn’t here to assist me with my chores. However, it is at such moments that God shocks my spirit and leads me to a position where I am able to see my wicked tendencies. He utilizes these common, everyday occurrences to teach me where I need to make changes in my behavior and repent of my sins. The Hillsong Worship song “What a Beautiful Name” is one that I have been listening to on repeat over the last several weeks. It is a striking testimony to the incredibly incredible God that we worship. I am well aware that, despite my depravity, I am a far cry from the perfection of Christ. He, on the other hand, chose to come to earth in order to save those who would call on His name. A name that evokes awe and strength in equal measure. His likeness can’t be found anywhere else. Knowing that He is using His power to change my heart in order to transform me into someone more like Him is enough to motivate me to make the necessary changes. His loving conviction of my flaws causes me to seek to Him for the strength to become more than I am. I am grateful to Him for this. I hope you will find this song to be one that you can listen to and allow your heart to rejoice with mine. Our Saviour is very remarkable. There aren’t enough words to adequately define His character. It is my prayer that you would be able to see over the ups and downs of your everyday circumstances and just thank Him for who He is: an unequaled, unequal, and mighty God.

  1. What a fantastic name!
  2. The Name ofJesusChrist, my King, what a wonderful name!
  3. How lovely your name is, Lord, and how wonderful You are.
  4. Death could not hold you, the curtain was torn before your eyes, and you were hushed by the brag of sin and death.
  5. Because You have been resurrected to life You have no competitor, and you have no equal, since our God rules now and forever.
  6. Yours is the Name that reigns supreme above all others.
  7. The Name ofJesusChrist, my King, has a tremendous name.

Nothing can stand up against it.

Yours is the kingdom, and yours is the glory, so be it.

Jesus Christ, my King, has a great name.

What a commanding moniker that is.

What a commanding moniker that is.

What a commanding moniker that is.
