From a purely historical standpoint, it is an intriguing article on how a prophet who lived two thousand years ago came to be referred to as “God.” WARNING: THIS IS A HIGH-RISK ACTIVITY. Historical reports that are solely historical in nature and scientific interpretations of Jesus Christ’s divinity that are purely scientific in nature do not mix well with “Faith” and “Religious Belief Systems.” This is not a book for individuals who believe the Bible to be the infallible word of the Almighty.

Not only is it not inscribed in stone, but it is also not infallible; rather, it is simply a fascinating view into one author’s perspective on how the Jesus tale came to be what it is today.
An incredibly well-written examination by a careful historian concerning how people’s opinions of Jesus developed from the time he was alive until he was executed by crucifixion is presented in this volume.
Overall, the author argues that the early apostles viewed Jesus as a simple speaker who was both very human and very Jewish, and who preached an end-of-the-world message, proclaiming that God was about to bring the world to an end, after which God would establish his reign on earth.
Jesus predicted that this terrible transformation would take place very soon, maybe within the next several years, according to his teachings.
However, before the kingdom of God could be formed, Jesus was caught by the Romans and killed as a result of his preaching an insurrectionary message directed against the Roman Empire, which at the time governed the whole Middle-Eastern region of the world at the time.
Some of the disciples claimed that they had even seen and spoken with the rising Jesus, and since he had been raised from the dead, they began to believe that Jesus must be a god-like figure, who had been sent directly from God, as they had been taught.
It was gradually transformed into the Catholic Church, with the term “Catholic” meaning “universal,” as the “Christian church” grew in size, expanded to diverse parts of that near-eastern region of the world, and gained more adherents.

These contentious views frequently had to do with the essence of Jesus and how he was linked to God the Father as well as to the Holy Spirit, among other things.

What’s more, how could there be one God when at the same time, Jesus and the Holy Spirit existed as separate persons who were yet considered to be part of God?

There were other more doctrinal disagreements that continued to swirl for several centuries as the Catholic Church attempted to formulate a set of coherent ideas and principles that everyone who desired to be “saved” would be required to adhere to.

In his message, he urged the Church’s leaders to convene, deliberate, and then formulate a set of principles that could be agreed upon by all of the church’s authorities.

Early in the second century, Christianity was recognized as the “official” religion of the Roman Empire, and paganism was abolished completely.

This new concept eventually spread over the majority of the “Western World.” With passage of time, the diverse doctrines of the fledgling Christian movement continued to evolve, increase in strength, and be modified, as well as being accepted and rejected by various church leaders.

According to the author, some of the disagreements are still raging today, and the Catholic Church is continuously working to refine its message, as well as its theology and principles.

In it, the author claims, “This is what many church leaders thought during the first few hundred years of the growth and development of Christianity’s religion during the growth and development of Christianity.” As such, it is not a “THEOLOGY” book in the sense that it makes no assertions regarding the “truthfulness” or “falsehood” of any given belief.

I found the book to be extremely clear and easy to understand, and because I was already familiar with many of the theological debates about New Testament textual evidence as well as early church heresies and disputes, nothing in it surprised me, though it might surprise someone who believes that they can simply read the Bible and believe everything they read and come up with orthodox evangelical theology.

A comment by Jesus, made more than once, about how different the Gospel of John is from the other gospels is one that I find particularly persuasive in terms of the question of whether Jesus claimed to be God or the Son of God and equal with God, and this is one that I believe is particularly persuasive.

Nonetheless, the most important distinction he draws is the fact that Mark for example, never has Jesus speak any of the elevated, beautiful words that John puts in his lips.
If Jesus genuinely spoke the things that John claims he said, how could the three synoptic gospels include such delicate clues of God’s statements about themselves?
Even though it would not technically be false to omit that last key point from a book about a hero or leader who taught me a great deal while also claiming to be the son of John D.
It would be strange to leave out something that would add to the credibility of what he said, but it would be strange to leave out something that would add to the credibility of what he said.
It reminds me of lecture notes that have been formatted into a book, where each time the class meets, the lecturer begins by recapping where we left off the previous time.
And, at times, I became weary of the conclusions reached by biblical textual scholars—this book claims to have been written by Paul, but we don’t believe it was for reason x, this verse states y, but it was most likely added later and thus implies z, and so on.
As a matter of fact, I recall that before the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, a great deal of Old Testament research questioned the veracity of OT passages.
The individuals who would benefit the most from reading this book are skeptics, which is to say, those who are uncomfortable with Christianity and question if it is real, and who want to know more about how we got from the time of Jesus to where we are now.

If you read this book and then come to the conclusion that Jesus was the eternal Son of God who came down from heaven, you will be on more solid ground than you were before. And if you see that the earth beneath your feet is moving, keep enquiring until you discover a suitable location to stand.
