When Jesus Washed My Sins Away

When Jesus washed my sins away

1 When Jesus wiped away my sins, I felt a sense of relief. Sing hallelujah to the Lord! ‘Praise ye the Lord,’ my joyful heart began to exclaim. Sing hallelujah! Sing hallelujah! is the refrain. Sing hallelujahs and exalt the Lord in your hearts. 2 He heals my broken spirit, and I exult in joy.Hallelujah! Praise the Lord, for he satisfies the hunger of my soul. 3 I’ve discovered that he’s everywhere, therefore shout hallelujah! Praise be to the Lord, for I have placed all my anxieties on him. 4 He keeps me safe and secure by his side, praise the Lord!

5 I have nothing else to offer, so let us all sing hallelujah!

6 And thus, day by day, I go, praising God, Sing hallelujah!

What does it mean that our sins are washed away?

QuestionAnswer When the Bible speaks of our sins being wiped away, it is referring to the fact that we have been forgiven. Our sins, which had soiled us, have been cleansed from us. We are no longer spiritually corrupt because of the love of God through Christ; instead, we are declared righteous in the eyes of God. The notion of having our sins washed away is established for the first time in the Bible’s Old Testament. In His instructions for consecrating the Levites, God stated: “Thus you shall do to them in order for them to be cleansed: sprinkle the water of purification upon them, and let them go over their entire body with a razor, and wash their clothing, and purify themselves” (Numbers 8:7).

  • To assist us grasp spiritual truths, God frequently employed physical analogies to aid us in our understanding.
  • The inhabitants of Israel were instructed to cleanse themselves throughout the Old Testament, which included following strict guidelines for sacrifices, ritualistic bathing, and the sorts of clothing to wear (Exodus 30:20; Numbers 19:21; Joel 1:13).
  • Many of the regulations in the Old Testament were written with the intent of drawing a contrast between God’s holiness and man’s uncleanliness.
  • Following Nathan the prophet’s revelation of David’s adultery with Bathsheba in 2 Samuel 11, David expressed his grief and repented.
  • “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit,” Jesus says in reference to Nicodemus’s need to have his sins washed away (John 3:5).
  • The notion of sins being washed away is carried over into the New Testament.
  • God has proved via the Law that we are unable to purify ourselves, and that only He is capable of doing so.

Every human being is born into this world as a sinner, according to the teachings of the Scriptures (Romans 3:23).

The blood of Christ is the only thing that can cleanse us of our sins (1 John 1:7; 1 Peter 1:19).

Jesus came to earth in order to build a new method of being reconciled with the Creator.

As a result of our trust in applying the blood of Jesus to our dirty souls, God declares us to be cleansed (Titus 2:14; 3:5).

God has chosen to ignore our sin and to exile it from His presence (Psalm 103:12).

Even if he does not know his biological parents well, does not comprehend their home rules, and does not appear to be deserving of their affection in any way, an adopted kid becomes a son the minute the judge proclaims him to be so.

The same is true for us.

Through the course of time, we learn to know and love our Father, assimilate into our Christian family, and put into practice what we have already been recognized to be in position to do (2 Peter 3:18; 1 John 3:3).

O Happy Day – Lyrics, Hymn Meaning and Story

GodTube’s team of experts “O Happy Day” is a song written in the 18th century that commemorates the covenant with God and redemption found in Jesus of the Non-Conformists at that time period. It contains vivid picture of the joy that its author, Philip Doddridge, experienced as a result of his salvation and God. This hymn, which was made popular by a recording by the Edwin Hawkins Singers, has since become a gospel music staple in the modern era. 1 O joyous day when I made the decision to follow Thee, my Savior and my God!

In the chorus: “Happy day, happy day, When Jesus cleansed away all my sins!” In his teachings, I learned how to observe and pray, as well as how to live each day with joy; joyful day, happy day, when Jesus wiped away my sins.

3 Now, my long-divided heart may rest in peace, fixed on this glorious center rest; here, I have discovered a nobler portion, where heavenly delights flood my breast; now, my long-divided heart can rest in peace.

The Story Behind O Happy Day

“O Happy Day” was composed by Philip Doddridge (1702-1751), an English Non-Conformist clergyman, which means that he disagreed with the Church of England’s teachings. “Rejoicing in our Covenant,” as Doddridge originally titled the song, was the inspiration for the title. “It is an engagement with God.” Throughout the song, there are several imagery of the covenant, which was a concept that was particularly significant to the nonconformist and dissenting clergy, and which they would eventually bring with them to New England as part of Puritan theology.

Some believe that Doddridge wrote his hymns as summaries of his sermons in the hopes of assisting the congregation in expressing their reaction to what he was teaching.

Jesus Has a Special Place in My Heart How fortunate we are in having Jesus as our Friend, blessed assurance Nearer My God, I beseech Thee to remain with me.

Be Thou My Vision, O God.
