What If Jesus Was Serious About Prayer? : A Visual Guide to the Spiritual Practice That Most of Us Get Wrongby John R. MacArthur, Jr. Skye Jethani is a young woman who lives in the United Kingdom. Moody Publishers has released a new book called The first day of June, 2021. Non-fiction, Christian life, and devotional are some of the genres covered. Purchase on Amazon or through Goodreads. Right? Good things come to those who believe, don’t they? “Prayer is effective,” as the saying goes. That being said, what exactly does it mean?

Is it possible to receive the answers from God that we so much desire?

That was not how Jesus prayed.

As a reader of What If Jesus Was Serious.

  • It is not about receiving answers, but rather about receiving God.
  • Earlier this year, Skye Jethani (who you may recognize from the The Holy Postpodcast) published What If Jesus Was Serious?
  • It was also a great hit, which means Jethani is returning for round two, with a new focus on prayer this time around.
  • Skye’s writing is 400-500 words long, and it includes a suggested Scripture reading as well as an original picture.
  • It is Skye’s insights that make her thoughts so incisive, engaging, and thought stimulating.
  • Jessica is friendly and amusing, but she is also serious and captivating in her storytelling.
  • Skye isn’t the kind to do things like this.
  • Reading is a great source of information for me.
  • Nevertheless, that is not the most effective learning approach for all students.

Consider giving this devotional a try if you’ve had difficulty with past devotionals because you found them to be too formal, stiff, or ritualistic in nature. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed. The film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical was released in 1973, and it is still in theaters today. In the event that you were unaware of this, you would most likely find it out very fast. The first scene of Jesus Christ Superstar shows a bus decorated in psychedelic colors heading out into the middle of the desert to introduce the characters. A set of doors opens, and out leaps the whole group, who immediately begins assembling a makeshift replica of first century Judea with their props and costumes.

  1. The film unfolds on these sparsely furnished sets like a medieval passion play transformed into a rock opera.
  2. A humorous, possibly even frivolous adventure set in an outlandish, drug-riddled era, this sets the tone for the film’s overall tone.
  3. At first glance, referring to Jesus Christ as a “superstar” appears to be a complement, but that is not always the case in reality.
  4. It’s important to note that this musical is frequently referred to as a Christian favorite.
  5. The good news is that, unlike other faith-pleasing versions of the Gospels, this video will not declare you in big, flashing letters that Jesus is the son of God.
  6. We never see or hear a light shining down on his head, nor do we hear loud voices from the sky above.
  7. Our artists somberly pack up their belongings and board the bus, leaving the dead Jesus in the back of the vehicle.

Even while it raises doubts about Jesus’ identity, it never asserts that it possesses the solutions.

The Jesus depicted in this video is not the blonde-haired, blue-eyed hottie with a halo that you may expect to see on religious cards.

His life, as well as his vocation, is not without difficulties.

He, like the Biblical Christ, understands what his destiny must be, but he does not often seem to see why it must be so very tough to achieve it.

As he strains to keep up with the demands of running his father’s business, his most devoted followers are also experiencing difficulties.

What if he’s simply a regular guy?

Even worse, what if he is nothing more than a phony “superstar” who is all smoke and mirrors?

And then there’s Judas, who is concerned that Jesus’ insistence on being the “last sacrifice” is nothing more than a reckless act of self-destruction.

There’s also Mary Magdalene (Yvonne Elliman), who possibly loves Jesus more than anybody else, and who is most likely head over heels in love with the man she loves.

Things get increasingly bad for him, and his supporters are pushed to the final test as his destiny is sealed.

The journey to the cross is made a little easier by a visit to King Herod (Josh Mostel), which occurs during one of the film’s most famous musical pieces.

Additionally, they are able to subdue him when the very presence of Jesus causes him to lose control and throw a bread roll.

However, to reject it as “light-hearted” in the same manner that Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is dismissed as “light-hearted” would be incorrect.

That would be far too simple.

That is why it has survived the test of time.

In JCS, we see the tough path of faith, as well as the price that must eventually be paid along the way. Anyone who watches this film and continues to believe that religious belief is equivalent with believing in Santa Claus should be ashamed of themselves on a deep level.

Is Jesus Christ Superstar on Netflix?

Despite the fact that Netflix is home to a large number of films, Jesus Christ Superstar is not presently one of the movies available for streaming on the service. It’s unknown why the picture isn’t accessible to view on Netflix, but it’s likely due to the film’s music making the rights to the film more problematic — since there aren’t a huge number of classic musicals available to stream on the service.
