The birth of Jesus takes place in the year C. 4 AD. Jesus was born in Nazareth, in the Galilee area of Israel, during the reign of Herod the Great, and grew up in Nazareth with his parents. Jesus was baptized and officially began his ministry in the year 26 AD. When Jesus was 30 years old, he came into contact with John the Baptist, who recognized Jesus as the Son of God and baptized him in the name of the Father. The Transfiguration of Jesus took place around the year 27 AD. After ascending to the summit of a high mountain to pray, Jesus’ face began to glow, and soon his entire body was bathed in a brilliant white light.

Jesus landed in the city of Jerusalem.

The Last Supper took place around the year 29 AD.

How to Celebrate Jesus’ Birthday

  • Christians celebrate Jesus’ birth on Christmas Day with a broad range of traditions, the majority of which feature reenactments of the Nativity scene, which depicts Jesus’ poor beginnings. Caroling and Handel’s Messiah oratorio are among the highlights of the Christmas season, which ranges from simple carols to magnificent performances of Handel’s oratorio. Many Christian families make it an annual ritual to attend a midnight church service on Christmas Eve, which is lighted only by candlelight.

Celebrate as a winter nature and music festival

  • When it comes to Christmas, the tradition of using a Christmas tree, mistletoe, and other plants that are linked with the festival dates back to pagan rites that became incorporated into religious observance since December 25th coincided with the winter solstice. Christmas lights have replaced candles as the modern equivalent. Also available are ever-expanding collections of Christmas tunes, ranging from jazz to rap

Celebrate as an occasion for joyful giving

  1. The tradition of exchanging gifts has evolved into a significant feature of the holiday season. This year, perhaps we might consider simplifying the gift-giving process by considering how we can offer something of ourselves as a present to someone else. Simply baking gluten-free sweets for a friend who has food allergies, locating a book for your spouse who has been yearning to read, or writing a genuine message of thanks to a family member may all count as acts of kindness. Making charitable contributions from a place of gratitude and abundance rather than out of obligation or pressure is essential to happy giving.

3 Little-known Facts About Jesus Christ

  • “Christ” is a title or office rather than a given name, and it is derived from the Hebrew term for “anointed,” which is transliterated into English as “Messiah.”

Jesus was part of a big family

  • In addition to his brothers James, Joses (or Joseph), Judas, and Simon, Jesus also had at least three sisters, the identities of whom have not been documented.

Some non-Christian religions also recognize Jesus

  1. According to Islam, for example, Jesus (often transliterated as Isa) is revered as one of God’s most prominent prophets, as well as a bringer of scriptures and as the promised Messiah. Islam, on the other hand, does not regard him to be the Son of God, as Christians do.

Considering that it is thought that the Gregorian calendar was built on Jesus’ birth date being Year One, and they may have gotten the date a little bit later by around five years, it is possible that they got the date a little bit wrong. It should be null or “zero,” not any other value. There are two issues that arise:

In response to this request from the people, Jesus stated that a wicked and adulterous generation is looking for a sign from God. According to professor Ignacio L. Götz in his book “Jesus the Jew: Reality, Politics, and Myth-A Personal Encounter,” the church could also co-opt this prominent pagan holiday, as well as the winter celebration of other pagan faiths, by choosing this day to honor Jesus’ birthday (Christian Faith Publishing, 2019).

The Death of King Herod

Based in part on the biblical tale of King Herod the Great, some academics assume he was born somewhere between 6 B.C. and 4 B.C. An effort to kill Jesus was made, according to legend, when King Herod ordered the execution of all male newborns under the age of two who resided in the neighborhood of Bethlehem, an incident known as the Massacre of the Innocents. This occurred shortly before Herod’s own death, which is still debated as to when it occurred. While many academics, including Peter Richardson and Amy Marie Fisher in their book “Herod: King of the Jews and Friend of the Romans: Second edition” (Routledge, 2018), agree that Herod died around 4 B.C., others, such as Peter Richardson and Amy Marie Fisher, disagree.

Aslan wrote in his book “Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth” (Random House, 2013) that Herod’s massacre was “an event for which there exists not a shred of corroborating evidence in any chronicle or history of the time, whether Jewish, Christian, or Roman,” and that “no shred of corroborating evidence” could be found in any chronicle or history of the time, whether Jewish, Christian, or Roman.

The Star of Bethlehem

Another group of scholars has attempted to correlate the “Star of Bethlehem,” which is said to have heralded Jesus’ birth, with actual astronomical events in order to determine the year of Jesus’ birth. astronomer Colin Humphreys proposed in a 1991 article published in the Quarterly Journal of the Royal Astronomical Society that the fabled star was actually a slow-moving comet, which Chinese observers first observed in 5 B.C. Humphreys’ idea, on the other hand, has now been disproved. Related: Is it possible that the Christmas Star is indeed the Star of Bethlehem?

Another option is a comparable conjunction between Saturn and Jupiter, which happened in October of 7 B.C.

In addition, there has been conjecture that Jesus was born in the springtime. Jesus could have been born “in the late spring of the year,” according to Götz, “because pregnancies began in the fall after the harvests were in and there was enough money for a wedding feast.”

How old is Jesus Christ now @ 25th December 2020?

Good morning, my fellow Christ-followers and brothers and sisters. I hope we had a good time last night! I have a perplexing question that I believe the Lord has asked me when I was considering the upcoming Christmas celebration and simultaneously hearing a variety of prayers and desires from a variety of sources. So, what exactly is the question? It’s the title of the communication, as you can see. What is the age of Jesus Christ? The question has been bothering me because I believe that knowing the answer to this question would help me to justify the purpose for his birthday celebration.

  • People are constantly very happy and cheerful, but is Christ also happy and joyful?
  • Answering this question will provide a clue as to why we need to commemorate birthdays in our lives.
  • “Can you tell me your age?” they inquire.
  • A person’s age is determined by the year in which he or she was born and the year in which they are celebrating their birthday.
  • According to the Bible, celebrating our birthdays is about learning to count our days so that we may grow a heart of knowledge, which is why we should learn to count our days.
  • Teach us how to live a healthy lifestyle!
  • Growing in wisdom is essential, just as we grow older, we should also increase in understanding.
  • Most significantly, we place our trust in God’s wisdom to guide us in living properly as we should, in accordance with His expectations for our life.
  • The issue is, how old is our Lord Jesus Christ in chronological terms?
  • The exact age of Jesus is unknown.
  • If that is the case, then his age isn’t all that significant in comparison to the mission that God has given him, since he came for us to demonstrate how to live in God’s kingdom and how to be restored to what we lost when Adam rebelled against God.

Jesus’ birth was certain, and his purpose and vision were unmistakable and unambiguous. Consider the following facts about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to begin:

  1. Salutations to you, brothers and sisters in the faith of Jesus Christ! Hopefully, we had a wonderful time last night! As I was contemplating the upcoming Christmas celebration and listening to many prayers and well wishes from all walks of life, I received a perplexing inquiry that I believe was asked by the Lord. How does one go about addressing the issue? In the message, it is stated as the title. So, what is the age of Jesus Christ exactly? Because I believe that knowing the answer to this issue will help me to explain the purpose for celebrating his birthday, I have been debating whether or not to pursue it. People’s birthdays are celebrated for a variety of reasons, according to tradition. People are constantly happy and cheerful, but is Christ also happy and joyful? Does Christ have a joyful and pleasant disposition? To understand why we need to celebrate birthdays, we must first answer the question above. On that particular day, what questions do people typically ask the celebrant? Inquiring minds wonder, “How old are you?” It is common for celebrants to state things like, “I am 20 years old,” or “I am 5 years old,” depending on the year the celebrant was born or what year they have spent on this planet. A person’s age is determined by the year in which he or she was born and the year in which they are celebrating their birthday. For example, if a man was born in 1990 and he or she is celebrating his or her birthday in 2010 or 2020, the celebrant will be either 20 years old in 2010 or 30 years old in 2020. Therefore, according to the Bible, celebrating one’s birthday is all about learning to count our days in order to build a heart of knowledge. In the New International Version of Psalm 90, verse 12 is translated as The translation of the Message reads: “Ooh, I get what you mean. Educate us on how to live a healthy lifestyle. Educate us on how to live wisely and effectively!” According to that straightforward calculation, the primary reason for counting or numbering our days on this planet is to direct our hearts toward knowledge. Growing in wisdom is essential, because as we grow older, we should develop in wisdom as well, and vice versa. Every step is a journey toward maturation and progress in both wisdom and strength. Last but not least, we place our trust in God’s wisdom to guide us in living properly as we should, in accordance with His expectations for our life Not religion, but dominion as heavenly ambassadors, representing the country of heavens on earth on God’s behalf, is what he hopes to accomplish. To what age is our Lord Jesus Christ referred to as the question. The fact is that we have no idea. It is unknown how old Jesus was when he died. If we go by the calendar, we may claim that Jesus Christ has been alive for more than 2000 years, but the fact is that Jesus Christ is more than that, and his age is without limit. If that is the case, then his age isn’t all that significant in comparison to the mission that God has given him, since he has come to teach us how to live in God’s kingdom and how to be restored to what we lost when Adam rebelled against God. In Jesus’ case, his birth was unambiguous, and both his purpose and vision were crystal plain and precise. Think about the following facts concerning our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ:

Good morning, brothers and sisters in Christ. I hope we had a wonderful evening together! I have a perplexing question that I believe the Lord has asked me when I was considering the upcoming Christmas celebration and simultaneously hearing a variety of prayers and desires from a variety of individuals. What is the question, exactly? It appears in the message’s title. What is Jesus Christ’s age? Because I believe that knowing the answer to this question will help me to explain the purpose for celebrating his birthday, I have been debating whether or not to ask it.

  1. People are usually happy and cheerful, but is Christ also joyful and happy?
  2. What questions do people usually ask the celebrant on that particular day?
  3. Celebrants would often state, “I am 20 years old,” or “I am 5 years old,” depending on the year the celebrant was born or the year the celebrant has spent on earth.
  4. For example, if a man was born in 1990 and he or she is celebrating his or her birthday in 2010 or 2020, the celebrant is either 20 years old in 2010 or 30 years old in 2020.
  5. (Psalm 90:12 New International Version).
  6. Teach us how to live a good life!
  7. Growing in wisdom is essential, just as we grow older, we should also increase in wisdom.
  8. Most significantly, we place our faith in God’s wisdom to guide us in living properly as we should, in accordance with His expectations for our life.
  9. The issue is, how old is our Lord Jesus Christ in terms of years?
  10. The age of Jesus is unknown.
  11. It follows that his age is not as essential as what he was sent to do for us, because he came for us to show us how to live in God’s kingdom and how we might be restored to what we lost when Adam sinned against God.

Jesus’ birth was certain, and his purpose and vision were unambiguous and precise. Think about the following truths concerning our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ:

  1. He is completely at the mercy of others. Individuals can murder him if he is not protected by his heavenly Father, which is why God placed him in the care of people who could provide him with the highest level of care and protection the majority of the time. Nobody is chosen by God if they are reckless with their life or if they refuse to heed him when he gives them instructions. He instructed Joseph, his father, and his mother Mary on a number of occasions, saying, “I am a slave to man.” He had to subordinate his will to man, because he was under the authority of man, particularly his parents and elders in his immediate vicinity. Galatians 4:1-6
  2. He is completely helpless. As a result, he was unable to accomplish anything for himself, and he was unable to employ all of his parts as instruments of goodness to heaven and mankind
  3. He was unable to offer joy to his father or to assist his brothers in any way. He was unable to redeem us from our sins, nor was he able to restore our life to us. He was placed under the supervision of others
  4. He was limited to the tasks needed of him as a carpenter
  5. He was allowed to accompany men
  6. He could be made scared
  7. He could be exploited
  8. He might be destroyed

All of these things, and much more, might be done to our Lord Jesus while he is still a child. Most Christians still regard him as if he were a baby, and they do not consider him to be their life and Lord. The only thing we can take away from his birth is the fact that it gave all of heaven and earth hope that, at long last, the human race is on the verge of being redeemed from eternal torment and separation. As well as that this kid would grow up to fulfill his or her God-given mission on earth, which is to bring pleasure to the skies and blessings to mankind.

  1. The heavens rejoicing for our sake, knowing that God’s deepest wish has finally been fulfilled via his son.
  2. Heaven delighted because of us, not because of the heavens.
  3. We had lost touch with the Holy Spirit, and Jesus came to bring him back to us.
  4. Man was created in God’s image and likeness in order to have dominion over all of creation.
  5. Growing in intimacy and closeness with the Holy Spirit, who is the ruler of God’s kingdom, is how we will achieve this.
  6. He increased in knowledge and understanding.
  7. Growing in understanding in order to accomplish your God-given vision, mission, and purpose on this planet is what Christmas is all about.
  8. In order to obtain a heart of knowledge, it is necessary to understand how to count and number the days of our lives.
  9. Amen.
  10. Consider this as you commemorate the life and death of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

When Was Jesus Born—B.C. or A.D.?

Even though our Lord Jesus is still a baby, all of these and much more may be done for him. They feel he is not their life and Lord, and so they continue to treat him as a baby. The only thing we can take away from his birth is the fact that it gave all of heaven and earth hope that, at long last, the human race is on the verge of being redeemed from an eternity of punishment and separation. As well as that this kid would grow up to accomplish his or her God-given mission on earth, which is to bring joy to the skies and blessings to mankind.

  1. Finally, God’s deepest wish has been fulfilled via his son, and the heavens cheered for our sakes.
  2. Heaven delighted because of us, not because of the heavens.
  3. Prior to that, he demonstrated on earth how to live like God.
  4. What does it take for us to be in charge?
  5. How old is Jesus should be replied in the spirit or attitude of an accurate comprehension of how He grew up to accomplish his essential mission on this world, rather than in terms of years.
  6. Since the past Christmas, how much progress have you made in gaining the wisdom that you should have in order to have more dominance in the areas of your gifting, vision, purpose, and task?
  7. When we demonstrate dominance in our areas of giftings and visions, Heaven cannot help but be elated.
  8. In the name of Jesus, may his wisdom and blessings be upon us all as we strive to realize our vision and mission on this planet.

Amen. Have you matured in your understanding of God’s wisdom, righteousness, and grace since the previous Christmas season? While celebrating the person of our Lord Jesus Christ, keep this in mind!

Jesus was not born in Year Zero

Time measurement can be difficult to master. Leaving aside the philosophical and metaphysical complexities that Augustine exhaustively considered in his celebrated meditation on time in the final books of his Confessions, the history of how history itself is made (and, consequently, of how time is measured, divided, and kept track of) is complicated, intricate, and elaborate, to say the least. In that exact same history, it can only be determined by examining some watershed moments or inflection points in particular — notably, any recorded occasions in which a particular calendar or any other specific measurement system is being employed.

  • One of those inflection moments (and, in many ways, the inflection point) that has defined how we think about history (and, consequently, how we measure time) is the division of history into two periods: before Christ and after Christ.
  • If this is the case, one could be inclined to believe that Jesus was born in the year zero.
  • Does this imply that Jesus was born on December 25, the first year of the Common Era?
  • How could Christ have been born a week before the birth of Christ?
  • The day after December 31st of the year 1before Christ is already January 1st of the year 1 after Christ.
  • It is said that his given name, Dionysius Exiguus, is a pun in and of itself: theexiguouswould suggest that he “fallen short” in his predictions.
  • However, he does not explain how he came up with thiscomputus—which is Latin for calculation—in this passage.

There are two more issues to consider.

This is because the authors are more concerned with doctrinal and theological substance than they are with supplying the reader with minute historical specifics.

For example, the Gospel of Luke implicitly suggests that Jesus may have been born either during the reign of King Herod or, maybe, shortly following.

When alluding to the birth of Jesus, he instead references Quirinius, who was then governor of Syria under Caesar Augustus at the time of Jesus’ birth (Cf.

“Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea during the reign of King Herod,” according to Matthew’s account.

2:16.) Now, historical evidence indicates that Herod the Great died in Jericho in the year 4 BC, so it’s possible that Dionysius made a blunder in his calculations.

Others think Matthew chose to have Jesus’ birth take place under Herod the Great’s reign in order to tie it in with the infanticide known as the Massacre of the Innocents (Mt 2:14) and to provide justification for the Flight into Egypt.

To complete the problem, we’d have to look at other sections that provided us with various bits of the puzzle.

According to the Gospel of Luke, Jesus was around 30 years old when he began his ministry (Cf.

It gets even better: according to him, all of this occurred during “the fifteenth year of Tiberius Caesar’s rule” (Cf.

In AD 14, Tiberius’ rule started, according to historical records.

Assuming that Jesus was 30 years old when he began his ministry in the 15th year of Tiberius’ reign, we must remove 15 from 30 (which is 15), and then subtract 14 from that number (which is the year of Tiberius’ investiture) to get at the correct answer.

This is most likely the exact same math that Saint Dionysius performed.

To begin with, according to Luke, Jesus was around 30 years old.

Nevertheless, according to Luke’s account, Jesus was not born at Nazareth, but in Bethlehem, as a result of Quirinius’ Census, which required Joseph to return to his birthplace.

Now, there is one more piece of historical knowledge that we should look into further.

However, we are not informed how old Jesus was at the time of his execution.

However, there is no indication in the gospels that Jesus spent three years preaching.

Jn 2:13; 6:4; and 11:55).

In any event, if we deduct 30 years from the years of Pilate’s administration, we arrive at the conclusion that Jesus was born around the year 6 or 7 before the birth of Christ.

Whatever the case, what is significant is that a kid is born to us either before or after Christ (but not in Year Zero) at some point in time (Cf. Is. 9:6).

Christ is born?

The birthday of Jesus Christ is celebrated on December 25 by the majority of Christians, although only a few people throughout the first two centuries of the Christian era claimed to know the precise day or year in which he was born. Interestingly, the first known mention of aChristmascelebration is found in a Roman almanac from 336 A.D., which describes a Christ’s Nativity feast organized by the church of Rome. Christmas was first celebrated on December 25, although the exact reason for this remains unknown.

  • MORE INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND AT: The Bible asserts that Jesus was a real person.
  • Easter was the most important event on the Christian calendar for early Christians (and for many Christians today), as it commemorated the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • Every winter, the Romans celebrated Saturnalia, a festival that began on December 17 and finished on or around December 25 with a winter solstice celebration in honor of the beginning of the new solar cycle.
  • This festival was a time of celebration, during which family and friends would exchange presents with one another.

Following the conversion of the Roman Emperor Constantine I to Christianity in 312 and the subsequent sanctioning of Christianity, church leaders made efforts to appropriate the winter solstice holidays in order to facilitate a more seamless conversion to Christianity for the emperor’s subjects.

Church officials may have claimed that because the world was reportedly founded on the spring equinox (late March), Jesus would have been conceived by God on the same day, thus justifying the celebration of Jesus’ birthday in late December.

From Rome, the celebration of Christ’s birth spread to other Christian churches in the west and east, and by the end of the fourth century, the majority of Christians were commemorating Christ’s birth on December 25.
