7 Times Jesus said “I Am”

A crucial statement said by Jesus is repeated seven times throughout the Gospel of John, making it the most essential phrase in the whole book. Jesus says the words “I am” over and over again. His character is shown in its entirety through this repetition. The Source of All Life And Jesus responded to them by saying, “I am the source of all nourishment. He who comes to Me will never go hungry, and he who believes in Me will never thirst, because I am the bread of life.” -Matthew 6:35 After spending a peaceful night alone in the desert, Jesus said these remarks.

In spite of this miracle and these remarks, the people were still looking for a proof that they might put their faith in Jesus, according to some accounts.
Jesus reassured them that, despite the fact that their forefathers had been fed manna, they were no longer alive.
Jesus, in his role as the Bread of Life, extends to everyone of us the gift of everlasting life.
He who follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life shining in his heart and on his face.” -John 8:12 (KJV) These comments were spoken by Jesus to a gathering of people who had just seen an astonishing event.
During an effort by the accusers to deceive Jesus by asking if He believed the lady should be stoned, Jesus remained silent and scribbled in the sand.
Then, turning to face the remaining members of the audience, Jesus informs them that He is the Light of the world.

In John 10, Jesus drew on a theme that was known to each of His listeners: the role of a shepherd.

Anyone who sneaked into a sheepfold by any means other than the door was not allowed to be there legally.

Jesus is that Door, and He is the only one who can lead a person to redemption.

“I am the good shepherd, and I am here to help you.

He is the Shepherd; he is the One whose voice the sheep recognize and recognize as theirs.

Jesus, in his role as the Good Shepherd, gave his life in order to save everyone of us.

He who believes in Me will live, even if he dies as a result of his faith.

Do you believe what I’m saying?” -John 11:25, 26 (NIV).

It is too late for Jesus to save their brother Lazarus, who has passed away.

Jesus, on the other hand, has other, more immediate plans for Lazarus’s recovery.

The Way, the Truth, and the Life are all the same thing.

No one else can do these things for you.

He warned them—on multiple occasions—but they could not seem to accept it.

Jesus, as the Way, the Truth and the Life, is God, and is our only Source of salvation.

He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” -John 15:5 As Jesus spoke, the vines hung heavy with ripened fruit throughout the region.

Jesus, as the Vine, is our Source of life—life today and everlasting life. The Gospel of John records this repeated phrase “I am” seven times. Each repetition adds another layer of understanding of His character until we see His form perfectly.

Why Does Jesus Ask ‘Who Do You Say I Am?’

Even in Jesus’ day, there were a variety of responses to the question of who Jesus was. As described in the verses above, some believed He was a prophet, while others accused Him of being a member of the devil’s organization in other sections. While the Jews executed Jesus as a heretic, the Romans executed him as a possible insurrectionist. His disciples, on the other hand, claimed that He had risen from the grave and worshipped Him as God, and they were prepared to die in order to prove it. Clearly, whatever Jesus is and whatever we think about His identity, the implications of our actions are significant.

“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved,” according to Romans 10:9.
He asserted that He existed before to Abraham (John 8:58).
He promised remission of sins, which is something only God is capable of providing (Mark 2:5).

It would be difficult to consider Jesus a great moral teacher if he were simply a man who spoke the kinds of things Jesus said.
You are required to make a decision.
Whether you want to shut him up and call him an idiot, spit on him and murder him as a demon, or fall at his feet and name him Lord and God, let us not come at him with any patronizing bullshit about his being a wonderful human teacher.
He had no intention of doing so.

What About You? Who Do You Say That Jesus Is?

One of the fundamental principles that distinguishes Christianity from all other religions is our belief that the almighty God of the world took the form of a human being and lived among us for a time before dying on the cross in order that we would be forgiven. If we are willing to acknowledge Jesus as our Lord and devote ourselves to Him, we are invited to spend eternity with Him in His kingdom of heaven.

What did Jesus mean when He said ‘I AM’?

QuestionAnswer According to Jesus’ response to the Pharisees’ enquiry about his identity, “Who do you think you are?” he responded, “‘Your father Abraham delighted at the prospect of seeing my day; he saw it and rejoiced.” His Jewish contemporaries remarked: ‘You are not yet fifty years old, and yet you have met Abraham!’ ‘I tell you the truth,’ Jesus responded, ‘I am the one who existed before Abraham was born!’ Immediately after that, they began gathering stones to stone him; however, Jesus managed to escape away from the temple grounds” (See also John 8:56–59.) According to the Jewish community’s angry response to Jesus’ “I AM” declaration, they plainly comprehended what He was declaring: that He was the everlasting God manifested in human form.

Jesus was equating Himself with the term “I AM” that God gave Himself in Exodus 3:14, which means “I am that I am.” Jesus might have added, “Before Abraham was,” if He had simply wished to assert that He existed before Abraham’s time.
The Spirit’s use of language makes it plain that Abraham was “brought into existence,” but Jesus has existed from the beginning of time (see John 1:1).
The punishment for blasphemy under the Mosaic Law was death if a remark like this was not truthful (Leviticus 24:11–14), and the punishment stipulated by the Torah was death.
Jesus used the words “I AM” seven times in seven different assertions about Himself.
He is the source of all seven.

They are:I AM the Bread of Life (John 6:35, 41, 48, 51); I AM the Light of the World (John 8:12); I AM the Door of the Sheep (John 10:7, 9); I AM the Good Shepherd (John 10:11, 14); I AM the Resurrection and the Life (John 11:25); I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6); and I AM the True Vine (John 14:6); and they are (John 15:1, 5).

Who does God say I am?

QuestionAnswer Many of us spend a lot of our time worrying about what other people are thinking of us. We all want to be respected, loved, and appreciated, and we all want to be valued. When God’s perspective of us is the only one that truly matters, why should we base our identity and feeling of self-worth on the perceptions of other imperfect creatures. When it comes to our identity, the most crucial question we can ask is: Who does God say I am? The Bible is the sole source of trustworthy information on who we are in Christ and what God thinks of those of us who have been born again.

.and that is exactly what we are!” The Bible says in 1 John 3:16.

God declares that I have been chosen and adopted into His family via Jesus Christ, and that I will be His child forever: “Even before the creation of the world, God loved us and selected us in Christ to be holy and without blame in his sight.” (Ephesians 1:4) In advance, God made the decision to adopt us into his own family by drawing us to himself via the person of Jesus Christ.

And thus we give thanks to God for the lavish generosity he has shown toward us, who are members of his precious Son” (Ephesians 1:4–6, NLT; see also 1 Thessalonians 1:4 and 2:13).
“For we are God’s masterpiece,” he says of me, referring to me as Hisworkmanship.
We are not a collection of haphazard lumps of clay.

Who Does God Say I Am?

It is normal for human nature to be devoured by itself. We twist our necks for acceptance and engage in a frenzied practice of comparison, without the outwardly inverted viewpoint necessary to grasp who we truly are within ourselves. We begin to doubt our true selves – what we are worth and what we are meant to do in this world. The prerequisites for our identity can be found in our priorities as they relate to God. By connecting our everyday lives with biblical truth, we may program our internal GPS to navigate us in the direction of His plan.

God’s love for us is highlighted in the narrative of the Prodigal Sons.

Despite the fact that He knew we would always fall short, He chose to love us unconditionally.

After the prodigal returns, Greg Morse describes it beautifully: “The wayward son braces himself for a smack but instead receives an embrace.” God declares that we are:

.loved (John 3:16)
.His (1 John 3:1)
.worthy (Zephaniah 3:17)
.purposed (Jeremiah 29:11)

Why Does it Matter What God Says of Me?

What does the Bible teach about God, and how does it relate to us? We must first comprehend who God is before we can comprehend who we are, according to Him. The narrative of the Prodigal Son demonstrates God’s enormous love for us, as well as our ability to choose to accept it. In spite of the fact that he knows who we are, our Father and Creator wishes a true and personal connection with us. In Exodus 3:13-15, God declares three facts about Himself that are worth noting:

Theologian John Piper remarked, “There is nothing more fundamental and nothing more ultimate than the reality that God exists.” Love, justice, righteousness, forgiveness, and wisdom are all characteristics that contribute to His persona. Once we have come to terms with who He is, the proclamation of His spoken name bears the appropriate amount of weight and importance. “It’s virtually usually rendered ‘LORD’ (all capitals) in the English Bible,” John Piper asserted clearly.

Who Am I According to God’s Word?

Our contribution to God is not required. He is all-knowing and all-powerful, and He is in total command. “Nothing is more fundamental and nothing is more ultimate than the reality that God exists,” declared John Piper in his book “The Presence of God.” It is His character that is characterized by love, justice, righteousness, forgiveness, and wisdom. Having come to terms with who He is, we may see that the repetition of His spoken name contains the appropriate amount of importance. “It’s virtually invariably rendered ‘LORD’ (in all capitals) in the English Bible,” John Piper asserted clearly.

What Does God Think about Me?

“I have called you by name; you are mine,” we are told in Isaiah 43:1 b. God made us in the same way a potter shapes clay (The NIV Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible). God has not only created us, but He has also developed us and called us to serve Him in specific ways that are customized to each individual’s unique circumstances. In the eyes of man, this is impossible; yet in the eyes of God, anything is possible.” (Matthew 19:25-26; Mark 10:25-26) According to the context of the preceding verse, the word “man” in the original Greek language denotes the distinction between God and human beings.

It differentiates us as human beings, but it also distinguishes us from plants and animals, as well as from God and Christ and as well as from angels. He is speaking particularly to who WE are and to the vulnerabilities that we have that cause us to sin

Because of the impossibility, we are forced to confront our predetermined fate in eternity if Christ’s sacrifice had not occurred. Despite the fact that we are helpless to alter who we are, redemption provides us with the option to be grafted into His strength and surrender our will for His way

According to John Rinehart’s book, “What God Thinks About You,” we are important, new, Spirit-filled, undergoing transformation, and representatives of God’s character. “Remember who created you, O Jacob,” the VOICE translation of Isaiah 43:1 wonderfully reminds us: “Remember who created you, O Jacob.” O Israel, who fashioned your personality? As you can see, you have nothing to be afraid about. I, the one who created you, will return you to me. “I have chosen you and declared you to be Mine.” A love that is unattainable for man, but not for God.

Who Am I in Jesus Christ?

What Does God See When He Looks at Me?

“My sheep are attentive to my voice; I recognize them and they follow me. “I grant them eternal life, and they will never expire; no one will ever be able to take them from my grasp” (John 10:27-28). God sees the ideal creation He designed, but he also recognizes that humans will always fall short of it. As we travel the path of life in pursuit of Christ, He will assist us in seeing our real reflection via our daily pursuit of His Word, which we will do through prayer and meditation. The Bible is the Word of God that is alive and active today.

God purposely places individuals in our lives who will love us and vice versa, so that we may love them back.

As Jesus said, “By your love for one another, everyone will know that you are my followers” (John 13:35).

10 Bible Verses about Who God Says I am

God, on the other hand, being abundant in compassion, because of His great love for us and the intensity with which He loved us, even while we were dead in our sins, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).” (Ephesians 2:4-5, New American Standard). “Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the trustworthy God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and obey his commands to a thousand generations of those who do right in his sight” (Deuteronomy 7:9).

We are not defined by the faults that threaten to define us, but rather by the biblical truth that demonstrates our true value. We have been made by Love to love in the same way that we walk with Love. We are here to spread the word about Him. His aim is to accompany us on our journey, rewarding us and showering us with more than we could ever ask or dream for ourselves and our families. Only by coming near to Him and prioritizing our lives in such a way that we put Him first will we be able to perceive the layers of who we are from His perspective.
