Because he was “a kind man and hesitant to put her to disgrace,” he did not want to “bring her to shame.” An angel, on the other hand, appeared to Joseph and informed him that the child Mary was carrying was the son of God and had been conceived by the Holy Spirit, and as a result, Joseph decided to keep Mary as his wife. Joseph was visited by an angel again after Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem, this time to warn him and Mary of the impending bloodshed brought on by King Herod of Judaea against the infant.

Joseph again fled to Egypt with Mary and Jesus.

Because Joseph is described as a “tekton,” which historically meant “carpenter,” it is likely that he taught Jesus his trade when he was in Nazareth, according to the Gospels.

Death and Sainthood

God Comes in the Flesh

Jesus does not have an earthly father, but rather a heavenly Father, who is God, and as a result, only Mary, Jesus’ birthmother, is His biological mother, despite the fact that Joseph, to his credit, married the pregnant Mary and did not divorce her, as he might have done easily. We don’t have a lot of information on Joseph. We know from the biblical narrative of Jesus’ birth that he must have realized that Jesus was unlike any other person in human history when he was born. In Luke 2:22-24, we read that Joseph and Mary had been purified according to the Law of Moses and that they had brought him up to Jerusalem in order to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every male who first opens his womb shall be called holy to the Lord”) and to offer a sacrifice according to what is stated in the Law of the Lord, “a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons,” respectively.

They came across “Simeon, and this man was pure and devoted, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him” when they arrived.

As a result, Joseph “and his mother were amazed at what had been told about him,” according to Luke 2:31.

As the Bible says, Jesus was the Word of God who came to dwell among us, taking on the form of a human being.

Jesus as a Boy

We know that Joseph was still alive when Jesus was a young boy of twelve, and that, as Jews, they observed the holy days, and so they traveled to Jerusalem for the feast. However, when the feast was over and they were on their way back, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem to continue his education. The fact that his parents were unaware of his presence in the company led them to go a day’s distance, but then they began searching for him among their relatives and acquaintances, and when they were unable to locate him, they returned to Jerusalem in search of him.” and”After three days, they discovered him in the temple, sitting among the instructors, listening to them and asking questions.

Although this would be brought back to Mary long later in Jesus’ life, Joseph would already be gone, as in he had passed away, by that time. He died, but we have no means of knowing how or why he died, because the Bible is silent on the subject, and thus we must remain silent as well.

Joseph’s Faithfulness

It is reasonable to believe that Joseph, being a Jew, must have instructed Jesus when he was a child in the ways of God, most likely from the Scriptures. The fact that Mary was expecting a child (Jesus) may have resulted in Joseph divorcing her and making her a public spectacle, but that is not what he did. He was unwilling to expose her to public ridicule, and as a result, he intended to discreetly divorce her in order to save her from a public scandal that would have resulted in both of them being expelled from their temple (Matt 1:19).

But what happened to Joseph after that?

The Mystery of Joseph

It’s less essential to me to know why or how Joseph died than it is to know that he reared Jesus in the Jewish religion of his day, diligently following the commandments to the best of his ability, respecting the Mosaic Laws and observing the feasts and holy days as prescribed by the Torah. We know from the very last reference to Joseph, which is contained in the book of Luke, that he was a faithful follower of the traditions of his religion, as evidenced by his commemoration of the Passover holiday.

It’s possible that Joseph died after Mary and his children had achieved the age of majority.

Our knowledge of church history and biblical stories can only provide us with material for speculation, and this is not a secure environment in which to reach an unequivocal judgment.

Conclusion

The fact that Joseph disappeared from the pages of Scripture very early doesn’t sway our beliefs on the integrity of this family. No doubt they had a godly upbringing but someday we will know what happened to Joseph so our only conclusion is that if God saw fit to keep Joseph’s death quiet and the reasons for it, we have no business trying to guess where the Scriptures are silent. The philosophy of where the Bible is silent, so must we be and this is perfectly appropriate for the question of what happened to Joseph, the father of Jesus, because we simply do not know.

What ever happened to Joseph, Jesus’ father?

I should first note out that Joseph was not technically “Jesus’ father,” but rather His legal/earthly father, which is a distinction worth making (like a step-father). In accordance with the Scriptures, Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit (Mt 1:18,20)(Lk 1:35), and he addressed God the Father as “My Father” (Lk 2:49)(Mt 10:32-33) during his earthly ministry (Mt 26:39,42,53). As for what happened to Joseph, we can never know for definite because the Bible does not provide any information. In truth, the Bible provides us with very little information on Joseph.

• He belonged to the royal lineage of David (Lk 1:27) and the bloodline of Jesus (Mt 1:1-16).
• Jacob was the name of his father (Mt 1:16).
• Jesus was from Nazareth (Lk 2:39,51; Mt 2:23), a carpenter (Mt 13:55), and the husband of Mary (Lk 2:39-51; Mt 2:23).

It appears that Joseph’s affection for Mary was evident when he decided to “throw her away (divorce her) discreetly” rather than openly when he discovered that she was pregnant, but not by him (Mt 1:19), which may have resulted in her injury (adultery was punishable by death: Lev 20:10, Deut 22:22).

Following Jesus’ death, Joseph would have been in charge of caring for the corpse of the Lord.

Also noteworthy is the fact that, when Simeon predicted of Jesus’ crucifixion and death, he told Mary, “a sword shall slice through thine own soul,” alluding to the agony she would experience at the moment of his death (Lk 2:33-35).

Many apocryphal literature and traditions refer to Joseph’s death, and some of these are based on fact.

The age of Mary at the time she gave birth to Jesus is discussed further below.

I recently completed a thorough reading of all four gospels, namely Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, in their entirety. According to some translations, that equates to around 84,000 words. And do you want to know what really hit me? There are a variety of things, for example, Why don’t I do this on a more regular basis? Reading the Bible is something I like doing. Oh my my, I didn’t realize Jesus had said that. What’s going on? Because of the frequency with which that final one occurred, I was forced to confront aspects of my religion about which I had never before pondered.

2. The exception to this rule would be if you were taught in a vision that what actually happened was that the Holy Spirit performed some incomprehensible, fancy shmancy “I’m God; let me do whatever I want” thing within Mary’s virgin womb.
3. He is almost an extra in the film of Jesus’ life, despite being the earthly father of the most significant man who has ever walked on the face of the world.
4. It turns out that there are a couple of theories.
5. Among scholars, it is generally accepted that Joseph was far older than Mary and that he died before the beginning of Jesus’ public career.
6. He most certainly isn’t there for Jesus’ death, during which Jesus binds his disciple John to his mother, Mary, in order to ensure that she will be cared for.
7. According to popular belief, when Jesus’ dedication takes place in Luke 2, Joseph’s death prior to Jesus’ ascension to the position of rabbi is hinted to when Simeon assures Mary that she will live long enough to be impacted by Jesus’ work.

There are certain things that we know about Jesus’ earthly family that we would like to share with you. Joseph and Mary were the names of his parents. History of Joseph the Carpenter – Wikipedia

In the late sixth or early seventh centuries, the Byzantine Egyptian historian Joseph the Carpenter (Historia Josephi Fabri Lignari) compiled a collection of traditions concerning Mary (mother of Jesus), Joseph, and the Holy Family, which survived only in Coptic and Arabic language translation. It is thought to have been written in Greek in Byzantine Egypt during the late sixth or early seventh centuries. According to the scripture, the belief in Mary’s permanent virginity is supported. It is one of the texts in the New Testament apocrypha that is concerned with the era of Jesus’ life before he was twelve years old, and it is found in the book of Matthew.

According to the narrative, Jesus on the Mount of Olives is giving an explanation to Joseph, his stepfather, and it is set in the context of the life of Joseph. 1. When they were unable to locate him, they returned to Jerusalem to continue their search.
2. His parents were taken aback when they met him for the first time.
3. At the festivities, Joseph and Mary had become disoriented and lost sight of Jesus.
4. Following this, we don’t get to hear much more about Joseph in the Scriptures.

Was Mary A Widow?

(See also John 19:25-27.) Near the crucifixion of Jesus were his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene, all of whom were mourning for him. After seeing his mother and the disciple whom he adored standing nearby, Jesus addressed her as “Woman, here is your son,” and the disciple as “Daughter, here is your mother.” She was welcomed into the home of this disciple from that point forward. According to the Gospel of John, Jesus entrusts the care of his mother to his beloved disciple, the Apostle John, whom he adored.

Except for the fact that Mary was a widow, there would have been no incentive to do this.

Where was Joseph during Jesus’ adulthood?

Jesus’ father, Joseph, is referenced multiple times throughout his early childhood, but he is only mentioned once again when Jesus is twelve years old, during the Gospel of Matthew. While His parents searched for Him for three days, Jesus remained at the temple with His disciples at the age of twelve (Luke 2:41-50). Most academics believe Joseph died somewhere between the twelve-year-old temple story (about 8-12 A.D.) and when Jesus began His public ministry around 27-29 A.D., when he was “around thirty years old” (Luke 3:23).

• Later in Jesus’ work, several people inquired, “Can you tell me about your ministry?” “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son, or something?
• And aren’t his brothers James and Joseph, as well as Simon and Judas, all present?
• Joseph had a son called Joseph as well, although Mary’s husband Joseph was never mentioned by name in the Bible.
• The cross of Jesus provides more evidence in favor of this perspective.
• If Joseph had still been alive, there is no doubt that this would not have happened.
• Some scholars believe that Joseph survived at least until Jesus’ late adolescent years, during which time he taught Jesus carpentry skills until He was able to provide for His family.

Even if Joseph had died a few years sooner, he would have been in his 40s, which was not uncommon for a guy of his era.

Saint Joseph

From c.1 to c.100, the population flourished. Members of the family who are notable include: the spouse Mary Known in the New Testament as Jesus’ earthly father and the Virgin Mary’s husband, St. Joseph (who lived in the first centuryce in Nazareth, Galilee, region of Palestine; principal feast day March 19, Feast of St. Josephthe Worker May 1) is a saint who lived in Nazareth, Galilee, region of Palestine. Throughout Roman Catholicism, St. Joseph is known as the “patron of the universal church,” and his life is chronicled in the Gospels, notably in Matthew and Luke.

• After marrying Mary, he discovered that she was already pregnant and, “being a righteous man and unwilling to expose her to public disgrace” (Matthew 1:19), he decided to divorce her quietly.
• Following the angel’s instructions, Joseph married Mary.
• While he was there, an angel came to Joseph again, this time alerting him of Herod’s death and urging him to travel to the Holy Land immediately.

Despite the fact that his name appears in 16 passages, the Bible contains little information on him as a person. The following are a few well-established facts. • “And Jacob begat Joseph, the husband of Mary, out of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ,” according to Matthew 1:16. And Jesus himself started to be about thirty years of age, being (as was assumed) the son of Joseph, who in turn was the son of Heli, and. (Because Heli was Mary’s father, Joseph may be considered Heli’s son in the sense of son-in-law.)

HE WAS A BELIEVER IN THE GOD OF ISRAEL; HE MARRIED JESUS’ MOTHER, MARY; AND HE TOOK CARE OF HER AND THE YOUNG JESUS; AND HE WAS A BELIEVER IN THE GOD OF ISRAEL.

• “And Jacob begat Joseph, the husband of Mary, out of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ,” according to Matthew 1:16.

• Matthew 1:24: “And Joseph, having been awakened from his slumber, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took to himself his wife:.” The Bible says in Luke 2:16: “And they came quickly and found Mary and Joseph, as well as the baby laying in a manger.” The angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, telling him to “arise and take the young child and his mother and escape into Egypt and remain there until I bring thee word,” according to Matthew 2:13: “For Herod will pursue the young child to kill him.” For example, Matthew 2:19 says, “But after Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream in Egypt, and.” “And Joseph and his mother were amazed at the things that were said about him,” says Luke 2:33. According to the Bible, in Luke 2:43, “And after they had finished the days and were returning, the child Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, which Joseph and his mother were completely unaware of.”

DAVID was his father, and he was the legal heir to DAVID’S throne.

• “But while he was contemplating these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, fear not to take Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.” Matthew 1:20: “But while he was contemplating these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, fear not to take Mary thy wife: for that which is
• Luke 1:27:”To a virgin who had been betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, a descendant of David
• And the virgin’s name was Mary.”
• Luke 2:4:”And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem
• (because he was of the house and lineage of David:).”

JESUS’ FATHER WAS A CARPENTER, and he and his wife MARY had several biological children after JESUS’ birth.

• In Matthew 13:55-56, the following is spoken about Jesus: “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son?” Isn’t his mother’s given name Mary? and his brothers James and Joses, as well as Simon and Judas, are you with me? And his sisters, aren’t they all here with us as well? “From where, therefore, has this man gotten all of these things?”
• “Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James and Joses, as well as of Juda and Simon?” reads Mark 6:3 of the Bible, in reference to Jesus. Moreover, why aren’t his sisters present with us? In addition, they were outraged by him.”

JOSEPH’S NAME AS PART OF JESUS’ EPITHETA There are just a few lines regarding Joseph in which his name appears as a title of Jesus:

• “And they all bore testimony to him, marveling at the gracious words that came out of his lips,” says Luke 4:22. And they inquired, “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they said.
• According to John 1:45: “Philip comes upon Nathanael and tells him, ‘We have found him of whom Moses in the law and the prophets wrote
• We have discovered Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph,'” In John 6:42, the people asked, “Isn’t this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we are familiar with?” When he claims to have come down from heaven, how does he explain this?

HE WAS IN HIS LATE PERIOD As we’ve seen, Joseph was extremely involved in Jesus’ early years (Matthew chapters 1 and 2, Luke chapters 1 and 2). In addition to being an excellent provider, he was a decent protector of little Jesus. During Jesus’ manhood and earthly mission, he, on the other hand, never makes an appearance. His name is just mentioned in passing or as a title of Jesus in some sections, but his bodily absence from critical passages is unmistakably noticeable. For example, Mary and her children are mentioned in Matthew 12:46-50, and she is present at Calvary’s cross in John 19:25-27, but there is no mention of Joseph in any of these passages.

What may be the cause of Joseph’s non-appearance in these instances?

The last time Joseph is mentioned in the Bible is when Jesus was twelve years old.

What was Joseph’s age?

This concept of “old age” is then utilized to support the death explanation that we discussed previously in this discussion.

In this society and at this period, Jewish boys married between the ages of 15 and 18; Jewish girls were engaged between the ages of 13 and 15 and married within a year.

Based on this information, we may estimate that they were between the ages of 50 and 60 at the time of Jesus’ death on the cross.

One more point is worth mentioning for our consideration.

It’s possible that the Holy Spirit left Joseph out on purpose, not because he was deceased, but because He was concerned with highlighting Jesus’ relationship with His HeavenlyFather (God), as opposed to His earthly(legal) father.
