Our ability to provide you with a high-quality magazine is severely limited, and we rely on your assistance in this endeavor. A serialization of Jeffrey R. Chadwick’s book, The Stone Manger: The Untold Story of the First Christmas, is being published in installments. This is the first part of the first installment.

In fact, it’s possible that after learning the previously untold story of Jesus’ birth, you’ll come to appreciate Christmas even more.

To explain why, consider the following: The traditional Christmas story does not accurately depict the events surrounding Jesus’ birth.

In no way, shape, or form!

  • Our Christmas holiday traditions are a wonderful part of our heritage, and I personally adore them!
  • My excitement for our town’s Christmas parade on the Friday morning following Thanksgiving grew stronger with each passing minute.
  • Penney and F.W.
  • Like something out of a classic movie, the entire downtown area was decked out for the holiday season.
  • Every December, I looked forward to those snowy evenings spent strolling through our town park, which was festooned with thousands of colorful lights strung between a hundred massive trees.
  • Throughout the month of December, parents would gather around that crèche in the snow, bundled up with their children, and tell them the story of the Christmas Nativity.
  • These are all elements of the traditional Christmas story that we have come to appreciate: the shepherds, the singing herald angels, the three kings, and even the drummer boy.

It just didn’t happen that way for the very first Christmas.

It was because Joseph was not a carpenter in reality that the situation occurred.

There were no Roman soldiers present to annoy or harass the fugitive prisoners.

There was, of course, no drummer boy in attendance!

The fact that there was no stable was perhaps the most surprising aspect of the situation.

One of the most historically accurate parts of the story is the manger in which Jesus was laid as a newborn infant.

Indeed, it served as a direct message from on high.

There were no hay bales in this barn!

The manger, which served as a temporary cradle for the newborn Jesus, was actually a stone structure.

Working in Israel as a researcher and field archaeologist, specializing in the material and cultural backgrounds of biblical narratives, has been a lifelong passion of mine for more than thirty years.

Over the course of my career, I’ve taught thousands of university students in Jerusalem and the Galilee, and I’ve taken them on field trips to locations ranging from Nazareth to Bethlehem.

A more realistic and authentic understanding of scripture emerges as a result, one that goes beyond purely textual analyses.

After all those years of teaching, research, and excavation, this book is the culmination of all of that work.

In contrast to the traditional holiday stories, this one is a little more unusual.

It is the true story of a young married couple’s love and faith, strength and humility, self-reliance and hard labor, as well as their commitment to see God’s intentions accomplished.

Take a seat now [and in the coming days on Meridian] and read the true narrative of Jesus’ birth — the unsung story of the very first Christmas – in its entirety.

This is the only relic that has been discovered so far.

However, the manger in which the newborn baby boy was laid was mentioned by Luke three times in his gospel.

She gave forth her firstborn son, wrapped him in blankets, and put him in a manger since there was no room for them in the inn where they were staying.

Furthermore, the following shall serve as a sign for you: When you arrive, you’ll find the baby laying in a manger, covered in blankets and sleeping.

And they arrived in a hurried manner, where they discovered Mary and Joseph, as well as the infant, who was laying in the manger.

It comes as a major surprise, however, to most people when they realize that the improvised cradle in which the baby Jesus was placed was not a feeding trough made of wood, as is commonly depicted in modern art.

People have grown accustomed to envisioning biblical events in terms of the societies and material cultures they are familiar with in North America, Europe, and even other parts of the world.

This creative liberty results in the classic picture of a wooden manger, which is particularly relevant to the Christmas tale.

Whatever could be made of that limestone was constructed from it.

This type of stone was used to construct the majority of furniture, either whole or partially.

Archaeologists digging in Israel have discovered a significant number of limestone animal troughs.

They were typically block-shaped and stood between twelve and thirty inches in height, depending on the species.

Animals were watered in these troughs, which were made of wood.

Due to the fact that there was no need for a feed box loaded with hay in ancient Israel, The abundant grass that flourished on Judea’s steep hills provided ample food for domesticated animals.

It was lush and green from January to April among the natural grasses.

In November and December, when the winter rains began to fall, fresh green grasses began to sprout up all over the place.

In the past, it was unnecessary to plant large fields of hay or straw to be kept for use by the animals.

In the case of a limestone water trough intended for use by sheep, it was likely to be short, measuring around twelve to fifteen inches in height.

A donkey could likewise drink from such a trough if it was low enough to reach down.

Consequently, the basin in which the infant Jesus was deposited, and which acted as a signal for the shepherds to locate him, was an earthen water trough carved from limestone, similar to the one seen in photograph1.

There were probably no animals there at all when Jesus was born in Bethlehem, with the possible exception of a donkey and possibly one goat.

Just after he and Mary arrived in Bethlehem, he carved and molded the manger out of a huge piece of Judean limestone, so that his donkey would have somewhere to drink from the well.

As a stone mason, he was well-versed in the craft. Keep an eye out for the next episode of The Stone Manger on Meridian tomorrow at 9 p.m. Alternatively, you may visit www.stonemanger.com to obtain a copy of Jeffrey Chadwick’s novel Stone Manger as an ebook.

Is ‘What a Beautiful Name’ Biblical?

I had a minor mishap. When I sought to locate the Billboard top 100 for Christian music for my first review, I did not take the time to check the date on the chart. However, it turns out that NF’s “Let You Down” peaked at number one on October 7, 2017, rather than the day I began evaluating lyrics. As a result, I will finish my second evaluation of the number one song for the week of January 7, 2018. It is a name that is recognizable to me, Hillsong Church. Several of their pieces of music are often used in worship songs by my church.

The song What a Beautiful Name by Hillsong Worship is now ranked first on the Billboard Top 100 Christian Songs chart as of the time of writing.

Before reading this review, take the time to learn more about the Berean Test and its evaluation criteria.

1. What message does the song communicate?

The name of Jesus is a lovely, amazing, and powerful combination of letters. He is the Creator, one with the Father, a rescuer, who brings the Kingdom of God to earth, who is loving, who has beaten death, who is without rival or equal, who is the name above all names, who is a king, against whom nothing can stand. The opening lyric of Verse 2 is the source of the song’s difficulty. “You didn’t want Heaven without us,” the message reads. Despite the fact that I am convinced that Hillsong meant “You intended us to be in heaven,” the phrase has an air of man-centeredness to it, as if paradise could not exist without us.

Score:8/10

2. How much of the lyrics line up with Scripture?

All of it! *All lyrics have been released with permission. You were the first and most important word. In John 1:1, the author of the Gospel of John makes a reference to the beginning of the Gospel. One with God, the Most High, the Almighty Jesus’ claim that “I and the Father are one in the same” (John 10:30). See John 10:30 for further information. Your undiscovered brilliance in the cosmos God’s grandeur may be found in all of His creations. See, for example, Psalm 19:1-6 and John 1:14. Now revealed in You, our Lord and Savior Jesus is revealed as the Creator of the universe, which includes both the heavens and the earth, according to the Bible.

  • What a lovely moniker that is as well.
  • Even if it is not stated clearly in Scripture, we can infer that the name of Jesus is lovely.
  • That is a lovely name, don’t you think?
  • What a lovely moniker that is as well.
  • What a lovely moniker that is as well.
  • You didn’t want Heaven to be without us, did you?
  • Moreover, He longs for us to repent (2 Peter 3:9) and to have a personal connection with Him (Acts 17:27, Romans 8:15, John 15:1-11, Romans 11:16-24).

While it may appear that heaven could not exist without man, this statement reveals God’s will, that His will is for heaven to exist even if there are no humans present in it.

As a result, Jesus, you sent Heaven crashing down.

See Matthew 4:17 and Philippians 2:5-11 for further information.

Your love was bigger than mine.

(Isaiah 59:2, Romans 6:23).

(1 John 3:20; see Jeremiah 17:9 about the human heart).

References are made to Romans 8:36-39, which lists a slew of things that will not separate us from God’s love.

What a beautiful name it isWhat a wonderful name it isThe Name of Jesus Christ my KingWhat a lovely name it is Wow, what a fantastic name that is.

What a fantastic name it is!

Chorus 2 is identical to Chorus 1, with the word “great” replacing the word “beautiful.” In Isaiah 9:6, there is a probable allusion to the word “wonderful” or “awesome.” Death could not keep you down.

Acts 2:24, 1 Corinthians 15:55, and Revelation 1:18 are examples of passages where this is true.

The curtain that separates the holy place from the “Holy of Holies” is referred to as a component of the Israelite temple (Exodus 26:31-35).

See Matthew 27:51, Mark 15:28, and Luke 23:45 for further information.

Death has no power over the person of Jesus Christ.

The heavens are ablaze with rage.

Because You have been brought back to life.

There are various more Bible scriptures, such as Matthew 28:1-15, Mark 16:1-13, Luke 24:1-12, John 20:1-18, Acts 1:31, 1 Corinthians 15:1-8, and others, that are mentioned.

There is no one who can compete with you.

There is nothing that compares to this.

Lines 1 and 2 of Chorus 1 and 2 are referenced again.

That which belongs to you is the kingdom.

This sentence is taken from the LORD’s request in Matthew 6:13; nevertheless, it does not occur in the oldest manuscript versions of Matthew’s Gospel.

This verse combines the principle presented in Matthew 6:13 (above) and intermixes it with Philippians 2:9, which, while slightly taken out of context, is nonetheless biblically true in its application.

What a commanding moniker that is.

Chorus 2 is the same as Chorus 1, with the word “powerful” replacing the word “beautiful” in Chorus 1 and the word “wonderful” in Chorus 2.

Nothing can stand in the way of God!

See Deuteronomy 11:25 and Proverbs 21:30 for further information.

What a commanding moniker that is. The Lord’s Name is Jesus. What a commanding moniker that is. The Lord’s Name is Jesus. What a commanding moniker that is. The Lord’s Name is Jesus. For the sake of emphasis, the phrase has been repeated. Score:10/10

3. How would an outsider interpret the song?

The name of Jesus is a lovely, amazing, and powerful combination of letters. Many people will not grasp the rest of the song unless they have studied Christianity in depth; nonetheless, the fundamental point of the song will not be lost on those who are not familiar with the religion. A common misunderstanding of the first sentence of the second Verse is that some people believe that they are more important than even God! Score:7/10

4. What does this song glorify?

While this song exalts the name of Jesus, Hillsong’s interpretation of Verse 2 may lead people to unbiblical conclusions, thereby obscuring the message. Score:8/10

Final Comments

While this song exalts the name of Jesus, Hillsong’s interpretation of Verse 2 may cause individuals to hold unbiblical beliefs, therefore obscuring the message of this song. Score:8/10

What A Beautiful Name by Hillsong Worship – Introduction

Who has risen to the throne of God and descended from it? The wind has been captured in whose hands it has been captured? Who is the person who has covered the waters in a cloak? Who is the one who has established all of the lands on the face of the earth? What is His full name, and what is the name of His son? You must be aware, don’t you? (Proverbs 30:4 English Standard Version) As a result, God has elevated Him and given Him the name that is above all names, so that at the mention of Jesus’ name, every knee should bend, in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

  • If this is the case, have you ever given serious consideration to why the name of God is so prominent, if not crucial, in the Bible?
  • The thought of a ‘name’ being so essential that it is mentioned in nearly every book in the Bible does not make complete sense to the 21st century mind, unless you are a religious fundamentalist.
  • And the following are the reasons: In biblical terms, a name is more than simply a name; it is a whole identity.
  • It’s a complete epiphany.
  • It is a description of an individual’s distinguishing characteristics, character, and personality, among other things.
  • Our safety comes from running into the strong tower of His name, not because His name possesses unique protective qualities, but because Jesus Himself is our shelter and our strength in the midst of adversity.
  • As a matter of fact, the only way we may genuinely walk into His presence with confidence is by our assurance of His identity, as well as through our love and devotion for Him in all of His beauty and grandeur.

It’s a holy name since He is a holy being.

The entirety of our worship is encapsulated in the lovely name of Jesus, since our religion is founded on and finds all of its vitality in the person of the beautiful God-Man, Jesus Christ, our Lord and King, who is also our Lord and Savior.

In addition, at the mention of His name, all of our thoughts and emotions should be immediately brought back to the fullness of His love and glory.

He is the One who placed the mountains in their lofty positions and defined the bounds of the oceans as ‘this far and no farther.’ He is the One who created the universe (Ps 65:6, Ps 95:4-5, Prov 8:29-30, Job 38:8-11).

God is the One who created and sustains the very breath that you take in and out of your lungs (Gen 2:7, Job 12:10, Isa 42:5, Acts 17:24-25).

Our God ascended to His throne, surrounded by a swarm of angels who sang His praises day and night, and then He clothed Himself in dust (Isa 6:1-3, Phil 2:6-8).

While He grew in knowledge and height, He was also exposing the God Most High via the life on earth of the Word Made Flesh, which He did with every word He said and every movement of His that revealed the God Most High (Lk 2:40, Jn 1:14).

Then He stood there and watched as mankind nailed Him to that Cross of humiliation with the same hands that He Himself knit together in their mothers’ wombs, crying out, “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do” (Lk 23:26-49).

The King of Kings and Lord of Lords, on the other hand, could not be contained even by death itself.

This is our God, who even now sits at the right hand of the Father, interceding on our behalf and guiding our lives with ropes of loving-kindness.

As soon as we utter His name, our hearts are filled with an unquenchable need for His return and nearness.

And we bless Him as we recall His goodness, his splendor, his beauty, his tender mercies; his justice; his faithfulness; his kindness; his patience; his zeal; His immense love; all of which we remember and praise.

We recall how He has guided our lives with such constancy and compassion, and how we can see His hand at work in every twist and turn, and we sing a song of praise to His mighty name, which is really magnificent.

It is in His Name that we worship, that we pray, that we seek refuge in His name, that we sing of His name, that we delight and exult in His name, and that we never ever take His name in vain, because this Name is the fullness of God’s being.

Wow, what a lovely name that is.

This is an extremely stunning name.because there is nothing on the planet that can compare to Him.

From the rise of the sun until its setting, the Lord’s name is to be worshiped throughout the day!

Hillsong Worship –

“What a Beautiful Name,” a praise song by Hillsong Worship that we all like, is one of our favorites. However, where did the inspiration for the song originate from? Brooke Ligertwood, a singer/songwriter/recording artist (who also sings lead on the CD) tells us about the inspiration for the song. Hillsong deconstructs the force behind the name of Jesus on their website’s blog, and after that is done, the name of Jesus is transformed into a palette of qualities that express how incredibly beautiful the name is.

The name of Jesus embraces more than we can wish or imagine—more beauty, more wonder, and more power than we can comprehend or comprehend ourselves.

From there we spent months creating the lyrics to riff on our primary texts — Hebrews 1:1-4 and Colossians 1:15-20, 26-27 — yet be basic enough to make sense on a first reading.

He is the light of God’s glory, the exact representation of His essence, and the creative conduit through which His power is channeled.

Jesus is God’s Word, and as such, he is strong, authoritative, and completely superior. He is the miracle of salvation, the one who has reconciled us to God by his sacrifice.
