How To Surrender To Jesus

How To Surrender To God And Let Go Of Our Plans – 5 Powerful Ways To Let God Lead –

It has been my experience that a large number of skeptics and cultists hold the position that Jesus never claimed to be God. It was rather his self-description as “son of man,” according to some. There are many people who are concerned about this topic, including skeptics and cultists, among others. Many Christians have asked me, “If Jesus is the Son of God, why did he refer to himself so consistently as the son of man?” I have encountered just as many Christians who have responded, “If Jesus is the Son of God, why did he refer to himself so consistently as the son of man?” The most often asked follow-up question is, “How can I be sure that Jesus is truly God and that the dogma of the Trinity is correct?”.

These are questions that have prompted entire volumes to be written in response to them.

First and foremost, while Jesus almost always referred to himself as the “son of man” throughout the gospels, there is at least one instance in which he expressly claims to be God (Matthew 3:15).

This is what you will say to the Israelites: “I AM has sent me to you,” you would say.

Second, the righteous Branch, the King, who will come from the lineage of David is given the name YHWH (I AM) by the Old Testament in Jeremiah 23:6.

To conclude, when Jesus refers to himself as the son of man in the gospels, he is emphasizing a particular theological argument about his divinity.

It is always referred to as “the Son of God” in every New Testament verse that refers to Jesus Christ that takes place chronologically after the first day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1–41), and never as “the Son of man.” In contrast, Jesus regularly refers to himself as the son of man rather than the Son of God throughout the gospels.

Preceding the first day of Pentecost, Jesus’ disciples are consistently referred to as sons of men, or children of men, rather than as sons of God.

Here’s the theological point: It is only after Jesus of Nazareth dies on the cross to atone for the sins of all humanity, is raised bodily from the dead, and sends the Holy Spirit to permanently indwell and spiritually baptize his followers that he has fully fulfilled his role as the Son of God, the second person of the triune God.

According to the fact that no human follower of God is ever referred to be “a son or daughter of God” in the Old Testament, this theological position is supported.

On the first day of Pentecost, as is detailed in Acts 2, this prophesy was fulfilled. The solution to this question may be found in my bookNavigating Genesis, which is more in-depth and has more documentation. Chapter 14 and appendix c include the information you want.

How To Surrender To God

During my travels, I have encountered several doubters and cults who maintain that Jesus never claimed to be God. They claim that he referred to himself as the son of man instead. This is a problem that affects more than just skeptics and cults. I’ve met just as many Christians who wonder, “If Jesus is the Son of God, why did he refer to himself as the son of man on so many occasions?” The most often asked follow-up question is: How can I be confident that Jesus is truly God and that the theology of the Trinity is correct?

  • My objective in this section is to give three succinct but appropriate responses that you may immediately share with those who are experiencing similar difficulties, fears, or uncertainties.
  • The gospel text is John 8:58, in which Jesus says to the Jewish religious authorities, “Before Abraham was born, I AM!” In this passage, Jesus accepts the name God had given him in Exodus 3:14, “I AM who I AM.” “I AM has sent me to you,” you are to tell the Israelites.
  • Jesus claims to be this righteous Branch and King in various places in the gospels.
  • When one looks at the New Testament, it becomes evident that this is true.
  • The human disciples of Jesus Christ are distinguished in the same way throughout the New Testament.
  • Following the first day of Pentecost, Jesus’ disciples are always referred to as sons of God, never as sons of man (for biblical references, see appendix c inNavigating Genesis).
  • In the same way, it is not until Jesus’ disciples receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit that they are declared to be sons of God.

It is only in Hosea 1:10 that God promises that a time will come in the future when some of the Israelites will be transformed into “children of the living God.” Even Daniel, who was “highly esteemed” (Daniel 10:11, 19) before God because of his righteousness before God, was called “son of man” (Daniel 8:17).

It was on the first day of Pentecost, as reported in Acts 2, that this prophesy came true. My bookNavigating Genesis contains a more in-depth and fully documented response for those who need it. It may be found in chapter 14 and appendix c, respectively.

Bible Verses On Surrendering To God

Our favorite Bible scriptures on submitting to God are included below to help you let go of your goals and allow God to take control:

  • Lead me in your truth and educate me, because you are the God of my salvation, and it is for you that I wait throughout the day. To paraphrase Psalm 25:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not put your confidence in human knowledge.” Recognize him in all of your endeavors, and he will direct your steps in the right direction. Proverbs 3:5-6
  • I therefore implore you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual worship, in accordance with the teachings of Christ. Romans 12:1
  • And those who know your name place their faith in you, for you, OLord, have not abandoned those who call on your name. “Be quiet, and know that I am God,” says Psalm 9:10 (NIV). Among the nations, I will be exalted, and I will be exalted throughout the world!” Psalm 46:10 says, “Therefore, submit yourselves to God.” If you resist the devil, he will depart from your presence. The Bible says in James 4:7 to cast all of your concerns on him because he is concerned about you. 1 Peter 5:7 (New International Version)

Surrendering To God and Letting Go

Surrendering and letting go will never be simple; our natural inclinations will always push us to continue with our goals and our schedule. And there are instances when we develop a plan under the assumption that it is God’s plan and try to coerce Him into it. It’s important to note that this is not surrender, and it will only result in suffering, frustration, and heartache. Let go of your plans and allow God to guide you on your journey. He has had a plan for your life from the beginning of time, and he has made sure that no step along the way has been overlooked.

Surrender to God: 5 Things to Let Go

When you surrender to God, you are expressing your total trust in Him and believing in His promises. We have the ability to stroll in freedom from anxieties, just like a kid. We simply must make the decision to put our faith in God for everything. God’s provision for our redemption via Jesus Christ enables us to place our confidence in Him for our everyday wants and desires. The Lord Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, unless you change and become like small children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3 (KJV) (NIV) What to SurrenderEverything is ok.

  • In essence, it is informing God that we are not capable of dealing with our problems and that He must step in.
  • God’s hands are strong and powerful, even when ours are feeble and exhausted from working.
  • Your hand is quite powerful!
  • We must learn to submit and give it to God, just as we must learn to surrender and give it to every other discipline in life.
  • The devil wishes to see that there is no place left in our life for God.
  • Whenever bad ideas attempt to infiltrate our area, we must cut them off and surrender them to God as soon as we notice them.
  • Carrying the weight of the past will only serve to reduce the amount of room available for God’s goodness, grace, and favor.

Renewing our minds in Christ entails releasing ourselves from all of the responsibilities that He died to relieve us of. God’s unfailing love never ends, and his mercies never expire; they are fresh every morning, and wonderful is your faithfulness.” 3:22-23 (Lamentations 3:22-23). (ESV)

Letting Go – Control

Control is the most difficult thing to relinquish since it makes us feel exposed when we don’t have it. But we don’t have to be concerned. God has already taken command. We must acknowledge His authority and move aside to allow Him to take the lead. Because He is the Creator of the Universe, we may put our faith in Him to see us through each day. At first, letting go might be frightening, but the freedom it brings to our minds and emotions will be well worth it. We know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, and that those who are called according to his plan are those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 (NIV) (ESV)

Letting Go – Worry

It is true that worry does not add a single day to our life. Worry, in reality, is a constant presence in our lives. Worry has the ability to physically influence not just our brains and hearts, but also our bodies. Worry does absolutely nothing beneficial. Allow God to take care of your worries and watch your life sail in His favor. “Don’t be concerned about anything; instead, focus on praying for everything. Tell God what you require, and express gratitude for everything that he has done.” Paul writes in Philippians 4:6 that (NLT)

Letting Go – Money

We have a tendency to cling on to our money fiercely. God, on the other hand, would want to take control of our finances. If we put money above God, it has the potential to become an idol. God wants to bless us, therefore we must lay our finances in the correct place: in the hands of the Almighty God. God will provide for our needs. All we have to do now is relinquish our money and follow His instructions. I urge you to keep your life free from the need for money and to be satisfied with your possessions since he has promised you that he “will not leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 (Hebrews 13:5) (ESV)

Letting Go – Your Relationships

Allowing God’s sovereign will to guide our relationships demonstrates that we place our confidence in Him with the people we care about. We will never be able to be everyone’s rescuer and hero, but Jesus can and will be. He died because He cares about each and every one of us, especially the individuals who are most important to us. We can do all in our ability to love and care for those who have been given to us, and we may put our faith in God to take care of the rest. “If God is so concerned about wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will undoubtedly be concerned about you as well.

(NLT)

Letting Go – Your Future

We can only make one day at a time of change. Living in the future deprives us of the pleasures of the present. The present moment is a gift, and we miss out on it when we allow our brains to ruminate on everything that is still to come. We may put our confidence in God for the future, allowing us to concentrate on the present. Attempting to control the future is like to attempting to direct the wind.

Contentment in the present will keep our thoughts from drifting to the distant future. “Therefore, do not be concerned about tomorrow, since tomorrow will take care of itself.” 6:34 (Matthew 6:34) (NIV) The following image is courtesy of Alisa Hope Wagner and used with permission.

Am I Completely Surrendered to Christ?

Transcript of the audio What is the best way to tell whether I have entirely dedicated my life to Christ? It’s the question from a listener called Maria, who calls in from the Netherlands and asks the inquiry today. “Dear Pastor John, I’d want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your service. Answering APJ 1459 (‘I’m afraid of surrendering to Christ — What Should I Can?’), I’d like to pose a follow-up question: How do I know whether I have truly submitted my life to Christ? Growing up in a Christian environment, going to Christian college, marrying and working for Christian organizations were all part of my upbringing.” From the outside, it appears to be in decent condition.

  1. Is it, for example, a heart-centered approach that has anything to do with making excellent decisions?
  2. Instead of reading non-Christian fiction, why not read a Christian book?
  3. What is the best way to tell if my life has been entirely dedicated to Christ?
  4. Let us begin by recognizing the objective that Maria has set for herself — namely, to be completely committed to Christ, with nothing kept back.
  5. However, the fact is that there is no such thing.

Absolute Surrender

The image of submission depicts the fact that we were once adversaries with God, and that our lives were at odds with him. We did not bow to his authority. We had not yielded to him in any way. We were our own masters, acting according to our own desires, depriving God of not only what he had given us, but also of our own souls. Then a miracle occurs: we are reborn, and everything begins to spin around again. Neither we nor anybody else wants to keep anything from God anymore. We are eager to be completely at his disposal, willing to do all he asks of us, no matter how difficult the task.

What it means to be saved from the old method is precisely this.

Here are some examples of how the Bible speaks about what Maria means by — and what I believe we all mean by — total and complete submission to Christ.

  • Surrender depicts the fact that we were once adversaries with God, and that our lives were at odds with him. We refused to bow down to him in submission. We had not handed ourselves up to him. The fact is that we were our own masters, acting according to our own desires, and thereby robbing God of not just what he had given us, but also of our souls An incredible miracle occurs: we are reborn, and our entire world turns upside down. Neither we nor anybody else wants to withhold anything from God any more, either. To be completely at his disposal, to do anything he asks at whatever cost, is something we are ready to do for him. This is something we want to perform with the strength that he provides, so that he receives all of the credit. What it means to be saved from the old way of life is exactly what I’m getting at. Consequently, even though the vocabulary of surrender does not exist, the reality of surrender exists. Here are some examples of how the Bible speaks about what Maria means by — and what I believe we all mean by — entire and complete submission to Jesus Christ:

“It is no longer acceptable to us to withhold anything from God. “We are eager to be completely at his disposal,” said the team. That is exactly what Maria desires. She also wants to know how she can tell whether she is engaging in the practice. What she really wants to know is, “How can I tell if I’m completely surrendered, if I’m really loving God with all my heart, if I’ve completely forsaken everything for him?” Nothing I want to love more than Jesus is what I want to love.

I want to love God with all of my heart, not just a portion of it as I already do. It is my desire to value Jesus more than anything else in the world.” So, how does she know whether her heart has reached this level of complete surrender, complete dedication, and complete affection?

Am I Deluding Myself?

First and first, I need to say something extremely sobering before I can begin to provide any advice on how to continue forward in your pursuit of the pleasure of this confidence that you have surrendered. This is a sobering realization. Allow it to soak in. It is unlikely that any of us will ever reach a stage in our Christian maturity where it is no longer feasible to have any doubts about the validity of our submission. For want of a better term, it is theoretically feasible for someone to suspect you of being a fake, regardless of what you say or do.

Consider the following: “If I give up all I have, and if I surrender my body to be burnt, but do not have love, I get nothing,” Paul declared in 1 Corinthians 13:3, “I gain nothing.” Wow.

Isn’t it a little shocking?

Oh my gosh, this is shocking: to believe that John Piper could genuinely muster the bravery to be burnt at the stake, and to have the notion cross my mind in those final dreadful minutes, with the flames lapping in agony at my flesh, “You’re not real, Piper.” You haven’t actually given up your fight.

All you want is to be remembered as someone who was famous.

“All you’re doing is attempting to earn your salvation.” That’s a frightening or, as I put it, sobering concept.

“Perhaps I’m just deluding myself,” you can always say.

Three Steps Toward Full Assurance

So, what are we going to do? Is it possible to live in constant uncertainty and dread of failing at the exact thing Jesus asks of us? In the words of Jesus, “Whoever loves father or mother more than I am not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than I am not worthy of me” (Matthew 10:37). It is an absolute must. Is it possible that we’ve given up on the affection of our father and mother? Have we relinquished our love for our sons and daughters to the degree that Jesus is adored supremely in our hearts?

That the New Testament did not intend for us to live in such terror is crystal plain to me, and I mean that in the most emphatic way.

I’m basically laying out in three parts how I approach this conflict as I perceive it written out in Scripture.

1. Speak the truth of full surrender.

“I love you, Jesus,” you say to him, and you mean it with all of your heart. “I love you, Jesus.” “I love you more than anybody else in the world.” Say it out loud. In front of others or alone, just say it out loud! It’s important to say it out loud: “I submit all other affections as inferior to you.” If there is any self-deception in what I am saying, I would appreciate it if you could remove it. I’ll do everything to get it taken away and allow me to talk honestly and freely.” Ask your heavenly Father to perform the miracle of Romans 8:16 in your life, and you will receive his blessing.” Things like that are something I say to the Lord on a daily basis.

Afterwards, I confess to him that my heart is deceptive, that I have hidden defects, and that I want him to destroy everything in me that is opposed to my confession of surrender, and to purify and make me true.

To begin, say it out loud and ask God to eliminate anything in you that is in opposition to what you are saying. This is the first step.

2. Act the truth of full surrender.

He may give you godly inclinations that cause you to stretch your competency or confidence to the point where you are forced to rely on his mercy and power more than you would have had you not done the act. The first issay, and the second isacton some godly inclinations that he gives you that cause you to rely on his mercy and power to help you more than you would have been if you had not done the act. As you’re doing it, tell him that you’re not attempting to bargain or earn anything by doing it.

And you might be astonished to learn that when you are actually performing acts of surrender, when you are praying in that manner, the actuality of the surrender becomes more true.

3. Pray for the gift of assurance of full surrender.

This is the ultimate conclusion: because the confidence that you are acting in complete surrender can always be questioned — theoretically, it can always be questioned — pray to your heavenly Father that he will perform the miracle of Romans 8:16 in your life: that he will simply remove all doubt from your mind. You won’t be able to make it go away. The more you concentrate on urging it to leave, the more you will think about it in the future. In other words, “I’m not going to think about white elephants; I’m not going to think about white elephants.” There is nothing you can do to make it go away.

“The Spirit himself gives witness with our spirit that we are God’s offspring,” says the author of Hebrews (Romans 8:16).

  1. Declare the reality of complete surrender
  2. Act in accordance with the truth of complete surrender
  3. Pray for the certainty of complete surrender, which is a gift.

One Way: Surrender to Jesus

Published on the 14th of June, 2021. Consider a teammate you’ve had who has gone above and beyond for the sake of the team on several occasions. Staying after practice to assist someone with their slapshot or cleaning up dropped water cups is what we’re talking about. The one who is always present during film sessions and is in charge of team meals. They would do any work, no matter how minor or inconsequential, since they were so committed to doing whatever was required of them. And, in ways we can’t comprehend, they make our lives simpler by sharing the burden of team obligations or by looking for opportunities to help.

Even more significantly, Jesus made His way to earth in order to join alongside us and serve for our benefit as well as the glory of His Father.

We should be solid in our beliefs, because we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, and we should be steadfast in our beliefs.” This High Priest of ours understands our frailties since he went through all of the same trials and tribulations that we endure, yet he did not transgress.

There, we shall receive his mercy, and we will discover grace to assist us when we are in our most desperate need.” (See also Hebrews 4:14-16.) Jesus does not provide us with fifty different ways to prepare ourselves for paradise; rather, He provides us with one: His.”Jesus informed him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life.’ Anyone who does not come through me will not be able to approach the Father.” (See also John 14:6) His words do not state that He isaway, atruth, or alife, as if He is an alternative if the way we are now acting no longer serves us.

  1. He is the only way, the only truth, and the only life.
  2. We are not willing to relinquish our rights to live our lives.
  3. We want to make our own decisions about what is best for ourselves, and we don’t want to cede power to anybody else.
  4. However, the teachings of Jesus are difficult and require us to make a choice between following Him and not following Him; there is no middle ground.
  5. What steps must you take in order to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior?
  6. We realize Who is before us and embrace what He is providing, just as the jailer did when he encountered Jesus through the bars that were holding Paul and Silas.
  7. (See also Acts 16:31) You make your declaration.
  8. Jesus is sufficient.

“If you publicly proclaim that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.’ ” Because it is only by trust in your heart that you are reconciled to God, and it is only through publicly professing your faith that you are saved.” 10:9-10; Romans 10:9-10; You have a life.

God has given us a reason to work for His Kingdom, and there are many more individuals in the globe who need to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Above all, you must behave yourselves in a manner that is worthy of the Good News about Christ, as if you were inhabitants of the heavenly city.” (2:17; Philippians 1:27) Christ equips us with all we need to live an effective life of plenty in relationship with God our Father in the same way that a supportive teammate goes above and beyond to set us up for success on the court or on the field.

  1. He is sufficient.
  2. Today, give yourself over to His love and authority.

Immediately following graduation from college, I relocated to Alaska and was invited to house-sit for a family, Bob and Pat Martin, who would go on to become great friends. Until they explained to me that this also included feeding their dogs, I had no clue that they were referring about seventeen sled dogs! Over the following few years, I took care of their dogs on a regular basis, becoming acquainted with each of them by name (and personality), and they became acquainted with me. I remember one day Bob and I were out with the dogs on a training run, and Bob asked me if I wanted to accompany the dogs on my own.

  1. Bob provided me with directions and instructed me on where to go.
  2. However, she was staring to the right, and it was clear that this was the direction she desired to travel.
  3. No gee!
  4. “What are you doing back here so soon?” Bob said as we returned to our original location.
  5. However, with more consideration, I concluded that the true ramifications were far more troubling.
  6. The implication was, “Nina is smarter than you.” In the end, it didn’t make a difference.
  7. One of the most significant things I’ve learned in my life came as a result of her submitting her will to me, who was acting as her substitute master.

With All Your Heart

With ideas for how Christians might really love and obey God with all of their being, this book explores the complexity of the heart and what it means for how we comprehend sin and regeneration.

1. Submission

The submission of all God’s creations, whether they are sled dogs or God’s image-bearers, such as you and me, can lead to satisfaction. Throughout the Bible, God expresses great concern that we learn to subject ourselves to authority, particularly to the one whose lordship demands obedience from the heart (Rom. 13:1–7; Eph. 6:1–9; 1 Pet. 2:13–19; and others). Just as a sanctified will must be ready to withstand temptation and say no to ungodliness, so too must that same will be ready to say yes to Christ and immediately kneel before him when the opportunity presents itself.

  • We have strong skin when it comes to temptation, but we have soft hearts when it comes to holiness.
  • We pray, “Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven,” because our heart is not completely right until it bows in awe before the almighty monarch of majesty and power.
  • Christ has subdued it via the merciful work of his Spirit, and through the saving graces of repentance and faith, he has made it obedient to hear the voice of the Father.
  • 51:17).
  • Our lives are like flexible clay, waiting to be moulded by the potter’s hands (Rom.
  • 64:8; Jer.
  • It takes faith to submit to God’s providential care, especially in seasons when he chooses to develop our character through hardship (cf.
  • 4 Trust is the more in-depth concept of faith that the Reformers were envious of being able to reclaim.

3:5–6) to do so. It takes a lot of humility to confess it yourself. It takes a lot of courage to accomplish it. It takes self-denial to put it into practice.

2. Self-Denial

Accepting Christ as Lord necessitates the rejection of one’s own interests. It requires us to give up our sovereignty and independence in order to comply. According to John Calvin, self-denial is the full total of the Christian life. 6 The fact that we are not our own means that we can no longer live for ourselves. It is Christ who orders us, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me” (Luke 9:23; cf. Matt. 16:24; Mark 8:34; 2 Cor. 5:14–15).

As a result, we abjure the sinful excesses of selfishness that afflict us, including self-importance, self-promotion, self-indulgence, self-absorption, self-advocacy, self-centeredness, self-conceit, self-interest, self-pitying, self-promotion, and other forms of self-seeking and self-serving behaviour.

  • We no longer live for ourselves, but rather live to serve God and our neighbor, particularly our brothers and sisters in Christ, as best we can.
  • 2:3–4; James 3:8) if we refuse to deny ourselves.
  • The world has been crucified in front of us, and we have been crucified in front of the world (Gal.
  • Trusting in Christ consists in our heart pouring itself into the arms of Jesus, relinquishing its own will and giving itself to the sovereign will of Christ.

3. Self-Control and Self-Discipline

Self-denial is required in order to accept Christ as Lord. That we give up our sovereignty and independence is demanded by this organization. The totality of the Christian life, according to John Calvin, is self-denial. 6 As a result, we no longer live for ourselves since we are no longer our own. It is Christ who orders us, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me” (Luke 9:23; cf. Matt. 16:24; Mark 8:34; 2 Cor. 5:14–15). We are members of Christ’s church.

We seek unselfishness in their place: self-denial, self-abasement, self-abnegation, self-abandonment, and self-sacrifice are some of the practices we do.

We shall be forced to give up our interests — and even our rights — in order to meet the needs of others if we refuse to deny ourselves (Phil.

No longer do we exist for ourselves or for the benefit of the world.

As much as we have been crucified for the world, the world has been crucified for us (Gal. 6:14). Faith in Christ is our heart pouring itself into the arms of Jesus, relinquishing its own will and giving itself to the sovereign will of Christ.

Complete Surrender to God Is Hard Without This

When it comes to God, do you ever hold things back? Worrying about things you know – you know – God can manage is a waste of time. That is the environment in which I am now living throughout this stage of my life. I give things to God just to have them taken away from me again and again. Lord has been telling me to “let go and give Me everything” for the past year. It is something I sincerely desire to do, but for some reason, total surrender to God is difficult for me to accept. Today, I’m going to share what I’m learning in the hopes that it will help me keep accountable and that it will resonate with you at whatever stage of the journey you are in.

That is my hope for this year: to surrender to God, His will, and His way on a daily basis in a new and exciting way!

What Does It Mean to Surrender to God?

Don’t you think that’s a reasonable question? Over the course of my more than 30 years of walking with God, I’ve received a variety of responses to the question of what it means to submit to God. The majority of the responses were superficial in nature. I had the impression that surrendering to God meant:

  • Attending church, reading your Bible, praying, and abstaining from sin are all important. Serving in the areas where you are needed

Don’t get me wrong, those things are wonderful, but they do not imply that you have completely dedicated your life to God. We must examine the Scriptures in order to have a deeper understanding of what it means to surrender to God.

What Does the Bible Say About Surrendering to God?

Proverbs 3:5-6 is at the top of my list of Bible texts on surrendering to God. This passage appears to be so straightforward, but it contains the full concept of surrender. “Put your trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and do not put your confidence in your own understanding. ” Recognize Him in all your actions, and He will direct your steps.” Proverbs 3:5-6 is a passage of scripture that says NASB The biblical concept of surrendering to God is based on placing our reliance in Him rather than in ourselves.

Trusting in His ways, even when they appear illogical. Being confident in God’s ability to carry out what He has promised, even when it appears impossible. Related Post:How to Maintain Faith in God When Everything Seems Impossible

Surrender Defined

According to Merriam-Webster, surrender is defined as follows.

  • To submit to the authority of another
  • Accepting that one’s battle with another is over
  • Giving one’s self up to the authority or influence of another is known as subordination.

Surrender is a verb, which means it is an action we choose to take. We make the decision to yield, agree, give up the fight, and submit ourselves to the influence of someone else. Ouch. Perhaps this is why mastering the art of surrendering to God is such a difficult task. I enjoy being right, getting my own way, and standing up for myself. Are you able to relate?

Surrender Is Hard

It’s difficult to comprehend the magnitude of the obstacles I’m confronting this year. It’s enormous. It’s frightening to have to deal with so many difficult issues at the same time. I go between passionate prayers of surrender to God and spending hours on Google trying to figure out how to solve the problems on my own. The major difficulties that we are dealing with are as follows:

  • My spouse has been seeking for full-time employment since before the formation of Covid.
  • My youngest daughter suffers from Autism Spectrum Disorder, and as she approaches puberty, she has significant difficulties. My oldest daughter is experiencing loneliness and disconnection as a result of her isolation.
  • It takes a lot of effort to homeschool a middle school student.
  • Submission in marriage has been difficult (particularly with so much more time together in 2020)
  • Yet, it is possible.

These are just a few of the difficult situations I’m dealing with right now, and I’m battling to figure out how to truly surrender to God and let go of the urge to control everything during this time. This has resulted in a particularly intensive period of prayer and fasting for direction. Related Post:27 Scriptures for Fasting and Prayer for Spiritual Breakthrough (Part 2)

God Allows Hard Things in Life

One source of difficulty is from the fact that God has permitted many difficult events to occur in my life. There have been times when I wondered whether He was even paying attention while I sank in challenges and difficulties. The majority of my life has been spent in a state of financial instability. As children, we grew up in poverty, never knowing when our next meal would arrive or whether or not we would have a place to call home. As an adult, I’ve been a bit of a workaholic in an attempt to stay away from that lifestyle.

My upbringing was marred by abuse, neglect, and rape, among other things.

As an adult, it is difficult for me to put my faith in God to provide for my children.

Why Does God Allow So Many Hard Things?

That is the question I used to ponder, but I never received a satisfactory response. As you can see from the Scripture verses on surrendering to God, difficult circumstances were permitted by God in order to teach submission, trust, and faith. That is not always the case, though. As a result, there isn’t a clear explanation for why this is happening. Years after a trial, we can look back and see God’s hand at work, sometimes weaving things together and providing an answer to the why questions, but this is not always the case.

  • Specifically, what does God want me to learn from this suffering
  • Was there anything I was clinging onto that God wanted me to let go of? How did God want me to develop in my faith as a result of this trial? What can I learn about God’s character as a result of this hardship

Those are my new “what” questions, and trust me when I say that they serve to keep me cheerful, appreciative, and modest during the process of healing. Previously, when I concentrated on “why,” I became dissatisfied, unhappy, and resentful of all the difficulties I had experienced.

If you are battling with such issues while also attempting to surrender to God, I strongly advise you to make a change to what. Regarding the following post:35 Inspiring Bible Verses About Gratitude to Help You Get Through Difficult Times

Is God Faithful?

When I’m trying to figure out how to put my whole confidence in the Lord, I discover that the biggest obstacle is my worry that God won’t be there to help me.

  • I believe that God did not protect us from poverty, nor did He prevent rape, abuse, or neglect
  • God did not assist my father in keeping a job
  • God permitted us to lose everything several times, so that we no longer had any unspoiled childhood memories.

As a result, I have trust difficulties with regard to economics, safety, and a slew of other things. Nonetheless, I have confidence that God is who He claims to be. The Bible is accurate, and the Bible declares that God is dependable and trustworthy. That is something I would want to believe. My head is convinced, but my heart is not always convinced. Are you able to relate?

How Do I Surrender to God?

For the time being, let’s just apply the meaning of surrender to our chapter so that we can understand what it looks like to yield to God. Surrendering to God is a practical application of Proverbs 3:5-6.

  • To understand what it means to yield to God, let us simply apply the meaning of surrender to our chapter. The application of Proverbs 3:5-6 is surrendering to God.

Trust in The Lord

Trusting in the Lord with all your heart is a wonderful thing. I’m submitting to His will. Because a grain of mustard can move mountains, put your faith in Him with what you have and believe that He will provide for your needs. Giving it to God and leaving it there is what it is to put your trust in Him. It may be necessary to pray that prayer of submission to God on an hourly basis for a period of time in order for it to become habitual. You may put your confidence in Him!

Lean On HIM

When it becomes difficult to put your faith in Him, you may rely on His strength. In order to rely on HIM for strength, you must first commit to stop battling against HIM. “Do not rely on your own knowledge,” he continues, implying that part of this involves believing what appears to be unreasonable. When it comes to surrendering, that is when I get myself into trouble. But God does not operate in the manner that I would like him to. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not My ways,” the Lord states emphatically.

Isaiah 55:8-9 (KJV) So, when God tells you to take a certain road or wait for a specific timing that makes no sense, submitting to Him means obeying it nonetheless.

Remember His Faithfulness

Earlier, I was wondering about the worry that God is not trustworthy, and if I only look at the trials and sufferings that are difficult, I could come to that conclusion. However, when I consider all of the previous instances in which God intervened and saved me, it is not nearly as difficult. God is a dependable source of support. He has saved my life so many times that I am baffled as to why I continue to question him. No, He doesn’t always come to my rescue, and yes, I continue to suffer the repercussions of my poor decisions to this day, but it does not diminish God’s character one bit.

  • God found me when I was lost and showed me true love for the first time
  • He supplied companions when I was lonely
  • God provided for us when neither of us was working
  • God provided for me when I was lost and showed me true love for the first time. He shielded me from the dangers of addiction
  • When we were at our wit’s end, God blessed us with children.

When I think back on instances when God has been reliable in the past, it helps me to have more faith in Him and His strange methods, especially when I want to just fix things. When I recall, it is easier for me to let go of my fear of what could happen next.

Praise Him

Are you someone who enjoys singing and praising the Lord? Do you burst out laughing when a song that strikes your heart plays on the radio?

When things are going well, thanking Him is simple; nevertheless, when things are difficult, I must dig deep into my heart and praise Him nonetheless. No, I am not thanking Him because of the difficulties I am experiencing. It’s something completely different.

  • I applaud Him because I have faith that He will work things out
  • I praise Him because He continues to amaze me as a person.

If that makes any sense, praise is about praising the God who is, rather than the God who does. He is worthy of my praise, not because he saves me as I asked, but because He is deserving of honor in the first place. Whether things go well in my life or not, God is great, and I will continue to worship Him. By choosing to Praise HIM even when it is difficult, I relinquish my claim to be the hero of my own tale and instead submit to HIM as the hero of my story! One advantage of worshiping God in the midst of a storm is that it is difficult to worry while you are praising God.

What Happens When We Surrender to God?

Astonishing things happen when we choose to surrender to the Lord, even while fear and uncertainty are growing in our hearts. To be clear, submitting to God does not imply that everything will be fine in the future. God does not always orchestrate events in the manner that we expect. He doesn’t solve all of our issues, but he does provide us with a nice lifestyle. No, it is not God’s manner of doing things. We experience God’s presence in a new manner when we submit. He enters our struggles with a fresh perspective and breathes new life into us.

Benefits of Surrendering to God

There are several advantages to yielding to God. This is by no means a complete list of possible options.

  • Your faith strengthens
  • You gain a new perspective on God
  • Those around you gain a new perspective on God
  • The gospel of salvation spreads
  • Fear leaves
  • Peace floods your soul
  • The encouragement of others is received. Dissatisfaction, discouragement, and doubt are all eliminated.

Take a look at any submission to God Bible scripture and you will see these points repeated over and over again. Although the folks did not live happily ever after, they were filled with the pleasure of the Lord, and it was evident in their actions!

Yes God is Faithful

As an adult, I can plainly see how my parents made poor decisions and turned their backs on God time and time again. God never compels us to act in accordance with His will or accept His assistance, never. It was not God’s fault that I had a difficult childhood. And then there are the circumstances I find myself in as an adult. Well, to be really honest, the most of them are the result of some extremely poor decisions I made earlier in my life. God enables us to live with the consequences of our actions, even though He forgives us, assists us, and never abandons us.

When we choose to submit, we have the opportunity to see God’s faithfulness in ways that we might otherwise miss.

So Why Worry?

What is the source of my concern? I am confident in God’s faithfulness. I may be praising Him and putting my confidence in Him one minute, and the next, I can’t be. I’m concerned. Completely and utterly. When I notice that things are starting to unfold in a specific pattern, I get enormous worry. My thoughts are racing through my head with everything: What is the source of my concern? Because I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes. Are you able to relate? I KNOW that God is trustworthy.

But, every now and again, I need HIM to remind me.

Sweet Reminders

This week, our children began to recall a difficult period in our family’s history. There was a period when dad was home and spent a lot of time with them. I recall that period as one of worry and sadness, as we were convinced that we were about to lose everything. The children recall that God paid the bills and that their father was able to take them on excursions.

In the middle of their remembering, I was able to see the pride, fear, and disobedience that was within my own heart at that moment. As we confront uncertainty – again again – God has taught me that submission is the way forward.

Surrender to God Prayer

Father God, the Almighty and Almighty Creator of the Universe, Please accept my apologies. I have not submitted to You all of the difficult things that have come my way during this season. I’ve been putting my faith in my own abilities, and I’ve failed spectacularly. Please accept my apologies for obsessing over things I have no control over. Please accept my apologies for turning to my pals and Google instead of to You. Things are difficult right now. We are in a difficult financial situation, and employment is rare, and we rely on you to help us.

Pain is frightening and difficult, and I have no idea what you’re going through.

Teach me how to surrender to God on a daily basis, please.

Through this, I will be able to offer You all of the praise, respect, and glory that I deserve.

Why We Must Surrender To God

Surrendering one’s will to God is difficult. Straight up and down, hard. We see the world turning to everything under the sun for comfort and security, and it’s easy to get dragged into that frame of mind ourselves. It is more secure for us to Google our problems and follow the advice we discover online. I get what you’re saying. It would be possible to uncover searches regarding autism and supplements in my browser history as well as information about full-time work and being a subservient wife.

Our first and most important stop should be in prayer.

Proverbs 3:5-6 is one of them, and it appears to be the scripture I’m focusing on for the year.

” Recognize Him in all your actions, and He will direct your steps.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (New American Standard Bible) The reason we must surrender to God is that He is the ONLY one who has the ability to truly assist us when life becomes difficult.

He is patiently waiting for you to come into that new surrender with HIM in love and grace, without passing judgment on you or your actions.

The daily routine is something that is lacking in my life.

That is my hope for the coming year.

Will you come with me?
