How To Connect With Jesus

Connect with Jesus

This implies that there is more to life than just going through the motions of the day. Essentially, it implies that your life is not defined by your experiences of grief, disappointment, and misery. It implies that Someone cares about you without expecting anything in return—no matter how messed up your life is or what you’ve done to deserve their affection. So, how can you establish a connection with Him? 1.ADMIT. Admit to God that you are in desperate need of a Savior. Romans 3:23 states that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” This is according to the Bible.

Have faith that God still loves you despite your shortcomings.

3.CONFESS.

“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved,” the Bible says in Romans 10:9, “you will be saved.” Everyone makes mistakes, and it is difficult to know God on our own as a result of those blunders.

You can have a personal connection with God if you own your faults and believe that God loves you so much that He sacrificed His Son Jesus for your sins.

If you agree, please pray the following prayer:

8 Practical Ways To Connect People To Jesus In A Disconnected Reality

As church leaders, we are aware that we have a responsibility to link individuals to their religion and to their communities. And, because this occurs most effectively in the setting of relationships, what can the church do to fulfill its purpose in the context of social alienation and isolation in the contemporary world? What sorts of spiritual counseling can churches give to their members who are missionaries in, with, and to their neighborhoods and communities? What kinds of spiritual direction can churches provide to missionaries where they live?

  • Is it possible that we’ve squandered a fantastic chance during the last six months?
  • Despite our efforts to return to in-person worship, debate masks, and develop strategies for better virtual worship, we may continue to lose sight of the objective!
  • In addition, it is our belief that everyone who interacts online wishes to be a member of your church community.
  • I entirely agree with Tyson’s findings; yet, I also feel that there is still time for us to devote our energy to the purpose at hand.
  • Isn’t it worth it to give it our best shot?
  • What are some practical strategies for bringing members into your church’s fold?
  • I’m offering these recommendations to get you thinking about your own.

As church leaders, it is always crucial to communicate the why that underpins the what of your congregation’s activities.

Consider the following overarching principle: Virtual settings may be extremely effective sources of connection, and they can have a long-lasting impact on our mission and ministry.

on Zoom, a small group of my friends come to pray for our ministry, for our communities, and for the entire globe, as well as for ourselves.

Forty people got on the platform to listen in.

Consider the following principle: When we exercise spiritual habits, they become permanent.

Every week, one of the couples in myFacebooknetwork leads aLectio Divinatime at their home.

Another buddy broadcasted their family’s morning devotions on Facebook while they were taking place.

Consider the following principle: In order for spiritual disciplines to become more than just theories, we must progress from teaching to training in order for them to become practical.

We have utilized BeLive to provide topical and scripture-centered learning and training opportunities in an interview-style format.

As a result, it creates an atmosphere that is very engaging for everyone.

Consider the following principle: Everyone gets to play!

Our board chairman used a site called pollleverywhere.com to get us to interact with one another during our most recent strategic planning retreat with the board and employees.

The application then quickly generates a word cloud containing all of the participants’ contributions.

Following the meeting, she sent out an email to everyone detailing the precise things that were stated about them!

God’s Persona is something to be celebrated.

After that, facilitate a debate about the most popular responses.

Consider the following principle: Awareness is developed via the exercise of our awareness muscle.

A variation on this would be to conduct an informal group session where you play a few songs (not necessarily worship music) and discuss the spiritual needs that the lyrics elicit in participants.

Host A Video Watch Party On FacebookIs there a YouTube video, a Ted Talk, or another video that teaches, equips, or pushes you?

Invite a few friends to watch with you and then get on Zoom to talk about it afterwards.

Maintain Accountability Discipline in Your Life.

They want a system of reciprocal accountability.

Each person chose five yes-or-no questions to answer.

This is a quick, easy, and repeatable method.

Here are a number of additional principles to consider while developing and implementing your own connection concepts.

2) Make use of the technologies that you and your colleagues are already familiar with. 3) Inviting others to participate in something you are enthusiastic about. 4 Invite someone to come along with you to a routine activity you enjoy doing. Resources That Have Been Mentioned

How can I have a deeper relationship with Jesus? John 14:21-23

Take a listen to the “Living the Gospel” podcast episode that was inspired by this essay! It is possible for Christians to have quite different relationships with Jesus depending on who they are with. The mere fact that you have been converted, that is, that you have become a Christian, does not necessarily imply that you have a close and personal connection with Jesus.

A living and intimate relationship with Jesus

Some Christians believe that having a connection with Jesus is as simple as praying to Him and attending church on Sundays. They agree to allow Jesus to be offered as a sacrifice for their sins, but their relationship with Him comes to an end at that point. Others see Jesus as a role model to emulate, and they strive to conduct their lives in the same manner that He did. However, because Jesus is in heaven and they are on earth, they do not anticipate to have much of a connection with Him, and as a result, they do not have one.

The Bible, on the other hand, talks of a personal and active connection with Jesus.

You are being tempted in every way, just as He was, but He conquered the temptations of sin and death.

This also implies that your connection with Him might be vibrant and lively – rather than being lifeless and stagnant – since He Himself is vibrant and alive!

Choosing Him

The reality is that you are the one who determines what kind of connection you want to have with Jesus. Before you can enter into an intimate connection with Jesus, you must first choose to believe that such a relationship is possible, for everything – spiritually speaking – is a result of one’s faith. A one-sided relationship with Jesus is not possible. When Jesus says, “If someone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and establish Our home with him,” He makes this point quite obvious.

Consider the possibility that Jesus and the Father may like to visit you and establish a home with you!

“He who possesses My commandments and observes them is he who loves Me,” He repeats again and again.

John 14:21 (KJV).

It is apparent that such a revelation of Jesus will take place throughout your Christian life, and not just at the outset of your Christian life, because that promise is given to those who love Him and fulfill His commandments.

Fellowship on a daily basis

If you choose to meet these requirements (i.e., live out Jesus’ Word in your life), Jesus will become a loving friend with whom you may engage in ongoing fellowship on a regular basis. Through the Holy Spirit, He will not be far away from you, but will instead reside in your heart and intellect and communicate to you through it. (Didn’t He say, “The kingdom of heaven is within you?” when He spoke of the kingdom of heaven? The constant discourse with the One whom you love and who you choose to follow will continue.

  1. If you are struggling with temptation, turn to him for guidance and support.
  2. You have a Savior who saves you not just from the punishment of sin, but also from the power of sin in your life on a day-to-day basis.
  3. That is how you will have your first encounter with Jesus!
  4. (See also Hebrews 4:15) Your connection with Jesus resides in your heart, mind, and spirit, as well as in your physical body.

Whenever a thought enters your mind, bring it before Him with the following attitude of heart: “Dear Lord Jesus, is this idea agreeable in Your sight?” You will begin to comprehend what the mentality of Jesus is, which is also known as the mind of the Spirit: life and peace, when you adopt such an attitude.

  1. Jesus takes on the role of tutor and guide as you pursue a fuller life in the Spirit.
  2. In this place, you will encounter the Spirit of Jesus, who is also known as the spirit of prophecy.
  3. As you get closer to Jesus, the words of the Bible that you have read, heard, and spoken so many times before will suddenly come to life in your heart and mind.
  4. In your inner man, you will know that a spirit of revelation is speaking to you, and you will come to understand the Word of God and your own life in a completely new way as a consequence.

With each revelation of the Word, faith will be re-established in your heart on a more profound level. The power of the Spirit in your life increases as your faith grows, allowing you to walk even further in Jesus’ footsteps as your faith develops.

An increasingly deep relationship with Christ

Relationships with other people are dynamic in the sense that they frequently alter through time and have the potential to develop deeper. Likewise, your connection with Jesus is no exception to this rule. Just as God’s mercies are fresh and new every morning, so too may your relationship with Jesus be fresh and vibrant each and every day! As your love for Him grows, and as your love for your own life (i.e., your own will) diminishes, the depth of your connection with Him grows deeper as well.

  1. “If anybody hears my call and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he will dine with me.” Revelation 3:20 is a verse that describes a situation in which a person must flee from his or her home.
  2. Isn’t it true that you are a part of this group?
  3. Do you get a sensation that He is pounding on your heart’s door today?
  4. If you trust Jesus’ words, you are blessed; open the door of your heart and welcome Him in as your Lord and Master!
  5. You will have the opportunity to have an intimate relationship with the King of kings and the Lord of lords!

4 Practical Ways to Stay Connected to Jesus

Prayer is just a dialogue with Jesus that takes place on a regular basis. Formal times of prayer are, without a doubt, spiritually helpful; but, the demands of daily life might make them impracticable at times. While a simple conversation with Jesus may take place at any time and from any location. Our faith is built on a solid foundation of regular interactions with one another, and our connection with Christ is strengthened in the process. Consider the kind of connection you would have with a buddy if you only spoke to them around Christmas and Easter.

  • Pray as soon as you wake up in the morning or right before you go to sleep
  • In your automobile, pray for your neighbors, the people in your town, and even the deceased when you pass a cemetery while you commute to work or conduct errands. Nothing makes folding clothes, cleaning dishes, or vacuuming more appealing than praying for the individuals who made them dirty in the first place
  • Pray while doing chores
  • Pray while doing household duties.

2. Develop a Daily Practice of Reading the Scriptures

What a wonderful gift the Bible is! Consider how fortunate we are to have been given access to God’s teachings; consider the majesty of what the Scriptures have to offer us. Through the power of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, the inspired Word of God is made available for us to read, study, and learn from it. It’s a little mind-blowing, really! If Jesus would just arrive and bring comfort or insight into your current predicament, how many times have you desired it would happen? We are given the unique chance to sit at Jesus’ feet and listen to his teachings, which we read about in the Gospels.

The more time we devote to listening to him via the Scriptures, the more likely it is that we may hear his voice speak directly to our hearts in our lifetime. Following are some suggestions for staying connected through the Scriptures:

  • Learn about Catholicism by reading the daily Mass readings
  • Signing up for a daily email, such as theCatholicmom.com’s daily Gospel Reflection
  • And playing “Bible Roulette.” Simply ask for the Holy Spirit’s guidance, then open the Bible to a random page and allow Jesus to take you by surprise. The fact that the Holy Spirit was able to utilize a variant of this approach to convert a doctor of the church, as St. Augustine, suggests that it is something to think about when it comes to strengthening your faith.

3. Continue Your Faith Education with Spiritual Reading

Contrary to popular belief, Confirmation was not a “graduation” from religious school, but rather an invitation to continue our study in the Catholic religion at a higher level. Considering the fact that we are attempting to investigate an incomprehensible God, it is virtually impossible to exhaust the resources available for furthering our understanding of him. Adding only a few pages of a Catholic classic to your personal prayer time each day, or including an excellent saint biography into your leisure reading, will help you get more out of your time in the church.

Following are some suggestions for staying connected through spiritual reading:

  • The Exploring the Catholic Classics: How Spiritual Reading Can Help You Grow in Wisdom, written by Tiffany Walsh (monthly contributor at CatholicMom.com and contributing writer for The Catholic Hipster Handbook), is available from GraceWatch.Media as part of the Stay Connected Journals for Catholic Women series
  • Join or create a book club in your area. Consider starting with a Catholic fiction novel
  • During Lent, consider reading a classic novel. After establishing a regular reading habit during Lent, you may find it simpler to incorporate it into your daily prayer routine.

4. Meet Regularly with Others on the Same Journey

The Apostles were dispatched in pairs to spread the Good News across the world. Jesus foresaw that they would need each other as friends and sources of support on their spiritual journeys. We, too, require the support of others in our spiritual journeys. When we are linked with people who can encourage us when we are feeling weak or discouraged in our faith, or when we are able to provide that same support for our friends, there are many advantages to being connected. Having the opportunity to be surrounded by others who understand the delight of living a life dedicated to a greater connection with Christ is also a blessing at times.

  • Establish in your church a small group for faith sharing and/or bible study. Invite guests into your house for a reading club to truly demonstrate the “gospel of hospitality.” Set up a virtual faith-sharing community using your social media accounts

This series of diaries for Catholic women, Stay Connected, was created with these 4 Practical Tips in mind. With over ten years of experience in small group faith sharing, I needed a resource that was simple to complete despite the demands of a busy life, but was also spiritually dense in order to support us in staying connected with Jesus and with one another. Each book in the series has the following features:

  • It was with these 4 Practical Tips in mind that we created our Stay Connectedseries of diaries for Catholic women. My objective, after ten years of working with small groups on faith sharing, was for a resource that would be simple to complete despite the demands of a busy life while yet being spiritually packed to aid us in staying connected with Jesus and with one another. There are several things that each book in the series has:

In order to know Jesus, converse with Him, and associate with Him, we must do it on a moment-to-moment basis. A more intimate connection with God, in prayer and via His Word, is necessary for us to develop in “the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” as the Bible says (2 Peter 3:18). Allow me to assist you in determining where to begin. You want more than just the awareness that you must abide in Christ; you must also understand exactly what this entails and how to go about it properly.

  • 1.
  • Have you said a prayer thus far today?
  • Rather than just encouraging, we must infuse our urging with faith and ardent wishes.
  • Prayer is essential for those who want to remain in Christ.
  • Are you maintaining a relationship with Him via prayer?
  • 2.
  • Romans 12:1 instructs us to “present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual act of worship.” “I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God,” Paul writes.

Every day, we must make a concerted effort to demonstrate our love for Jesus Christ by acts of kindness and generosity.

Engage in personal devotions and family devotions that are filled with intense admiration for Christ that comes from a heart that is really in love with Him!

I’m not sure about you, but the Lord has been extremely gracious to me, and as a result, I have a strong desire to give my life in worship to Him.

Develop a grateful attitude toward God for everything that He has done for us.

Paul writes in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 that When Jesus came to earth, He sacrificed the splendor and majesty that had been His in heaven in order to accept the role of a humble servant, willingly surrendering to His Father’s plan.

In order to restore our relationship with God, he had to endure criticism, contempt, disbelief, and eventually a humiliating death by crucifixion on the cross.

The horrible agony that has been shown in so many films was not the only aspect of this.

In addition, God’s free gift of salvation and eternal life has been made available to us via Him.

Anyone who considers himself or herself to be a sincere Christian must keep in mind that they were actually lost before they came to faith in Jesus Christ.

An attitude of gratitude characterizes one who is genuinely dwelling in Christ.

Allow me to conclude by asking where you are now residing.

If so, you’re not alone.

So don’t be disheartened if it appears to be difficult to comprehend how to put it into practice in your own life. Simply begin doing-abiding, and then simply rest in Him, trust in Him, and allow Him to meet with you as you abide with Him in your actions.

3 Ways We Can Stay Connected to Jesus

Once upon a time, we lived in a house that was surrounded by a fence that was covered with grapevines. In the summer, we would stand there and watch as these vines produced bunches upon bunche of grapes. I wish I could claim that I epitomized the Proverbs 31 woman and transformed those grapes into jellies and jams, but alas, that was not the case. Instead, I used them to make a fruit salad. Furry masked bandits always managed to outwit me, no matter how hard I tried. They’d sneak into the yard under the cover of darkness and strip the vines of their fruit before the grapes were ready to harvest.

  • Sigh.
  • “Yes, I am the vine, and you are the branches,” he said to the group.
  • Because, apart from me, you are powerless” (John 15:5NLT).
  • Even the raccoons will come up empty-handed if you cut off their supply of berries.
  • The more fruitful and lively our relationship with Him is, the more fruit our life will bear in the long run.
  • Here are three approaches: Everyone’s experience of this will be varied based on their life seasons, but the desire to spend time in His presence will remain the constant.
  • Some individuals have the luxury of praying for an hour or more, while others pray while they go about their daily tasks and obligations.

Every day, we are presented with a plethora of alternatives.

What am I going to wear?

What am I going to read?

Even the apparently trivial decisions we make have an impact on our sense of belonging to Jesus and our relationship with him.

My body, on the other hand, serves as the temple of the Holy Spirit.

Doing differently compromises my relationship with Jesus because I’m not fulfilling my stewardship responsibilities for the body He’s given me.

If He has purchased us with His blood, then He is the one in charge, and we must treat Him with the decency that He deserves.

What types of talks do I intend to participate in? It is my choice whether to engage in negative or critical dialogues that damages my relationship with Jesus since I am not following His mandate to only use words that encourage or build up others.

The Bible instructs me to think ideas that are pure, pleasant, and truthful in every way. By doing so, I am able to maintain my connection with Jesus since my thoughts will be in harmony with His thoughts and aspirations for me. Because He is holy and cannot dwell in a world where sin abounds, having improper thoughts on a regular basis damages my relationship with Him. The Vine is represented by Jesus. We are the branches of the tree. When you maintain a strong and lively relationship with Him, you will live a fruitful life that will bring God great honor.

Do you feel the same way?

4 Ways to Connect with God

God made us, and our hearts yearn, indeed, ache, to be in relationship with Him. As a result, when a person recognizes his or her need for God and invites Him into his or her heart, new questions arise, such as: “How do I spend time with God?” Is it possible for me to come to know Him?

Take the Know Jesus course

There are 5 parts to this study that you may do with an online discipleship coach in your own time. Start Right Away In actuality, even longtime disciples of Christ may not have a complete understanding of God. Is Jesus the Son of God? More information may be found here. Using an extract from the book “Practicing His Presence,” written by Charlie Riggs, a long-time director with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, we may learn about the practical measures that can be taken to genuinely get to know God.

4 Ways to Spend Time with God

We can sing “Oh, How I Love Jesus,” but we will experience very little of the reality of His presence in our lives. When you care about someone, you want to spend as much time with them as possible. In the same way, personal, intimate fellowship allows you to get to know someone better. We must, however, find a way to spend time with our heavenly Father. In the following ways and through the following channels:

  • • Studying the Bible and other excellent Christian literature Prayer and Bible study on a regular basis, both alone and with others
  • Worship with other Christians on a regular basis
  • Listening to Christian television, radio, or devotional and instruction recordings (or podcasts)
  • Seeing Christian movies

In addition to everything else I’ve discussed, the habit of beginning each day with a devotional prayer to the Lord has been quite beneficial to me. It is becoming increasingly difficult for me to remain in His presence during the course of my waking hours. Read the daily devotions written by Billy Graham.

Get Alone with God

The Quiet Time is not intended to be an end in and of itself. Its purpose is to instill the habit of beginning each day with the Lord and then intentionally walking with Him throughout the day as the day progresses. The quantity of time is less crucial than the quality of time because the objective of this stroll is merely to get you started on your regular walk. When it comes to my reading and prayer time, I have discovered that five to ten minutes locked in with God is worth more than an hour of drifting.

  • Taking a stroll and praying after spending time in the Word and in reading is something I like doing.
  • “I’ll see you the next day.” As an alternative, I say, “Lord, let’s go.” In my life, what amazing things are likely to happen?” I think to myself.
  • The purpose of the Quiet Time is to get to know our heavenly Father better—to experience His presence, serenity, joy, knowledge, strength, forgiveness, direction, and a host of other blessings and benefits.
  • This is the basis of the lasting connection.
  • “I am the vine, and you are the branches,” Jesus explained.
  • It is critical to understand that our lives will be empty and worthless if we do not have the Lord in them.
  • The Bible contains all of the information we have about God.
  • He communicates with us through His live Word, and we communicate with Him through prayer.
  • Charlie Riggs (1916-2008) began his ministry career with the Navigators before joining the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in 1954.

His death brought the claim that he had taught more individuals how to communicate their faith in Christ than anybody else who had ever lived, according to legend.

Searching for peace?Find it in Jesus Christ.

Jesus reportedly had a fascinating chat with a man called Nicodemus, who went on to become a Christian after the meeting. Three extremely essential things were revealed to him by Jesus. First and foremost, he asserted that in order to establish a connection with God, we must have a spiritual birth, in which something must come alive inside us spiritually. In his next statement, he said that God, like the wind, directs certain individuals into a point when they seek a personal contact with him.

It was Jesus’ way of informing Nicodemus that the key to having a connection with God would be to turn to the crucifixion for the solution.

According to John 3:16, the only way to have eternal life with God is to believe in Jesus Christ.

Take a look at the sermon from John 3:16.

Doing the Things Jesus Wants Us to DoTrue faith will result in a life reordered around following Jesus’s teachings, about forgiving those who hurt us, loving those who are our neighbors and our enemies, and serving those in need. A failure to do these things is a sign that we haven’t really connected with God, or that we aren’t growing up spiritually. Ephesians 2:10For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.James 2:14-17What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

The Bible Project is a website that has become one of our favorite resources for Bible study. Check out this fantastic 30-minute film that gives an excellent overview of what Christianity is all about. God, I’d like to have a personal connection with you. I’m quite aware that I’ve made a number of mistakes, including doing things that I shouldn’t have and neglecting to do things that I should have. Please accept my apology and grant me the forgiveness you have promised. In Jesus, I believe He is who He claimed to be, I think He died so that my sins may be forgiven, and I believe that He rose from the dead as evidence that He had the ability to defeat death.

Allow this to be the case in my life.

What Is a Personal Relationship with Jesus? (And How to Know God Personally)

What does it mean to have a personal connection with Jesus? Perhaps you’ve heard that it’s possible to have a personal relationship with God, but you’re not sure what it means. Alternatively, your faith may feel more like a religion than a personal relationship with God, and you may ask if it is possible to learn how to become closer to God (in a meaningful way). The truth is as follows: The desire of your heart is to know God and to have a deep, personal connection with Him–a life-changing experience that will touch every part of your life and provide you more pleasure, hope, and purpose than anything else.

To top it all off, I’d like to give you a free 3-Day Bible Read that will teach you how to study the Bible so that you may have a simple, practical approach to get closer to God on a daily basis!

You may get the free “How to Grow Closer to God” Bible Study course by clicking here. This study will help you create a strong connection with Jesus and get to know God intimately as you grow closer to God.

What Is a Relationship with Jesus?

Please take a moment to describe your connection with Jesus in detail (and with God). Do you have a relationship with God? I don’t mean do you have a “knowledge of” God. What I’m getting at is whether or not you have a real personal connection with the One who created you as well as with His Son, Jesus Christ. I’m not interested in whether or not you attend church on a regular basis or whether or not you grew up in a household where God was regularly spoken. To be honest, this does not imply that you have any kind of relationship with God.

  • A partnership built on the foundation of grace (not a religion based on rules and regulations).
  • I’m talking about a connection with God that is founded on a relationship with Jesus and is made possible by his sacrifice (rather than on the basis of the “good” or “bad” things you have done in your life).
  • So, let me ask you once again.
  • I mean, do you truly know who He is?
  • Otherwise (and if you’re interested in learning more about how a connection with Christ may help you discover hope, importance, and purpose in your life), I encourage you to continue reading.

Is a Relationship with Jesus the Same as a Relationship with God?

Wait. Perhaps you’re wondering, “What exactly is the difference between a connection with Jesus and a relationship with God?” When it comes to Christianity, the terms “relationship with Jesus” and “relationship with God” (and even “knowing the Holy Spirit”) are often used interchangeably because the three spiritual beings who make up the Trinity are one spiritual being (John 10:30), and therefore refer to themselves as such.

  • Allow me to explain. The Trinity has existed from the beginning of time (Colossians 1:15-16), but God the Father was the first “person” of the Trinity to establish a connection with mankind, namely with the Israelite nation.
  • More than 2000 years ago, Jesus, the second member of the Trinity, established a formal connection with us (the human race) when He was born as a human (who was both completely man and fully God) in that famous stable in Bethlehem (which is why we celebrate Christmas).
  • He properly lived out the commandment that God the Father had given to the Israelite people all those years ago (Philippians 3:12), so satisfying all of the conditions that no human being could ever perfectly obey (Philippians 3:12-13).
  • He was “God manifested in flesh,” which means that He offered us a glimpse of what God the Father seemed to be (John 14:9).
  • Another passage of Scripture, John 3:17, reveals to us that God sent Jesus to the world with a definite goal in mind: to rescue the entire world via his sacrifice.
  • However, He demonstrated His divinity when His body was raised from the dead three days after His death (Acts 3:15).
  • He proved that He was God and that He was capable of conquering anything, including death (Romans 8:37-38).
  • This “comforter” would guide us back to God’s truth and serve as a reminder of what Jesus stated when He was on the earthly plane (John 14:26).

Again, the Bible declares that Jesus, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit are all one; as a result, when we speak of having a connection with Jesus, we are really referring to having a relationship with God the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Why Jesus’ Death Changed Everything About Our Relationship with God the Father

Another key point to remember is that, prior to Jesus’ death and resurrection, the Jewish people could only have a connection with God through the sacrifice system that God had instituted (known as “the Law”) (Galatians 3:19-23). Because the Jewish people weren’t flawless (and none of us are), they needed to offer God sacrifices on a regular basis in order to grow closer to God and become more like him. In order to atone for our sins, Jesus lived a spotless life (keeping the law in a way that humans could never do since we are flawed), and then died as a sacrifice in our place (Matthew 26:28).

Once Jesus had satisfied the criteria of the law, our ability to communicate with God was eternally altered.

As a consequence of a thankful heart that yearns to be obedient, we can choose to cease making erroneous choices (as God defines “right and wrong” in the Bible) and to follow Jesus, so discovering the complete and satisfying life that He has prepared for us in His presence (as described inJohn 10:10).

What Does the Bible Say About How to Know God Personally Through a Relationship with Jesus?

Is it necessary for us to carry out more good activities in order to be approved by God? Is it necessary to adhere to a rigid set of rules in order to experience His love and limitless grace? No. The Bible makes quite clear that we can only be saved through faith (not via good actions), and that God’s love and grace are a free gift that he lavishes on all people, regardless of how “bad” or “good” they are on the inside or outside (Ephesians 2:8-9). In light of Jesus’ faultless life and sacrificial death, we simply must believe that Jesus’ sacrifice is sufficient to satisfy our “sin debt” to God (Romans 3:25), and we will be granted this free gift of grace in return.

Would You Like to Have a Relationship with Jesus?

Perhaps it seems weird to ask you this question (given that we’ve probably never met in person), but I. Would you be interested in developing a connection with Jesus? Is it your desire to learn how to live your best life–one that is full of meaning and purpose–that only He can teach you (John 10:10) when you choose to give your heart to Him? Yes? Awesome. Allow me to demonstrate how you may begin your connection with God right now.

How to Have a Relationship with Jesus

With their Four Principles to Knowing God, Cru (a Christian ministry to college students) teaches how we might establish a real relationship with God and how we can know God better. Each of these ideas has been summarised below, along with a couple of Bible verse references that support each premise.

  1. Belief in the fact that God loves you and has a good purpose for your life (John 3:16, John 10:10). Recognize that we all sin and that our sin has caused us to be estranged from God (Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23)
  2. It is important to recognize that Jesus Christ is God’s one and only provision for our sin (Romans 5:8,John 14:6)
  3. We must individually accept Jesus Christ as our savior in order to experience God’s love and learn about His purposes for us (John 1:12,Ephesians 2:8-9,Revelation 3:20)

In the event that you believe these truths about God and would like to live a life that is guided by Christ (rather than your own plans), you may begin your personal relationship with God right now! Simply say something like this in your prayers: “God, I acknowledge that I am not flawless. I’m quite aware that I’ve made mistakes, and I’d like to apologize for them and ask for your forgiveness. I’ve come to know that your death on the cross is the only way for me to be reconciled with God and to atone for the wrongs that I’ve done in my life.

I’m interested in learning more about you and discovering your positive intentions for my future.

Please come into my life and take command of the situation.

Thank you for helping me to become the person you want me to be.” If these are the words that your heart longs to hear and you have prayed anything along these lines, you may be confident that you have now entered into a personal relationship with Christ!

Staying Connected with Jesus

My conversation with a pastor recently included his confession of having missed his normal morning prayer time with the Lord owing to an unanticipated scheduling difficulty. In addition, he shared with me that this incident prompted him to consider what it would be like for the people in his church when they are unable to participate in regular times of prayer. Would they have difficulty dealing with the fact that they were out of rhythm and a little “off” for the day? As we pondered the situation, we considered what the Lord could have to say about it.

How are we going to be connected all of the time?

One Formula that Works

It makes no difference whether or not we keep a scheduled meeting with the Lord on any particular day; the reality that Jesus came to dwell among us and to develop a personal relationship with us remains unchanged. John 1:14 tells us that “the Word became flesh and made his residence among us.” This is the first time we hear this phrase. God did not merely provide us with a set of instructions on how to live our lives. He sent us the live text in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ, who became our Savior.

Putting our faith in formulae might get us into difficulty at times, but here is a promise from God’s Word that is simple, uncomplicated, and guaranteed to work: If we continue to stay in Christ, He continues to abide in us (John 15:4, NASB).

To understand what it means to abide by the rules, let’s look at some examples: Definitions of the term “abide” include:

  • To anticipate, to anticipate
  • To wait for, to wait
  • The ability to endure without succumbing is known as resist. to suffer patiently
  • To persevere
  • To stay in a single location

“abide” has the following synonyms (both strict and slang):

  • To remain, to linger, to linger
  • To linger, to remain
  • To linger
  • To tarry

In Silicon Valley, where I reside, the concept of “hanging out,” “sticking around,” or “tarrying” without an objective is virtually unheard of; in fact, it is almost unheard of. In most areas of the population, multitasking is essential if one wants to survive and advance in one’s career. In reality, “loitering” is another term for “tarrying without a purpose,” and those who violate this rule may be penalized to the fullest extent of the law!

A Relationship Renewed in Maui

Having a connection with Christ is the essence of abiding, and the relationship is more vital than the things we do or don’t do in our lives. This reality was brought home to me earlier in my Christian walk when the Lord led my family to reside in Maui for 19 months, which was a life-changing experience. We had just come off an intense period of service during which our lives had been filled with many excellent things for the Lord, but I was on the edge of significant burnout as a result of the intensity and non-stop ministry responsibilities that had been placed on our shoulders.

  • Something, though, was extremely wrong.
  • It seemed as if I had arrived in the middle of nowhere, rather than the oasis of calm and relaxation that I had expected to find in Maui.
  • This was a difficult transition for me, and it was only after the whirlwind of activity subsided that I began to realize that this dry season had a specific purpose and that where I was would be critical to where I was headed in the future.
  • The fact that I derived tremendous joy from my teaching, writing, and numerous other skills and abilities had not been a concern to Him; but, He had a problem with the fact that I had begun to place my self-worth in these things.
  • As a result, He began to firmly establish my trust in Him.
  • A few years ago, I worked as the manager of a small resort with the ocean right outside our door.
  • Long, unhurried walks on the beach and meeting people from all over the world performed wonders for my physical and mental well-being.

My life in Maui was nurturing and healing as long as I remained in the presence of Jesus and kept my gaze set on Him.

Despite this, something confusing happened on a regular basis, which I couldn’t figure out.

It goes without saying that I was perplexed.

Did I not fully address your question to your complete satisfaction?” Rather unexpectedly, He responded with yet another series of questions that demonstrated His desire for me to comprehend what it truly meant to know that He is with me at all times and in all situations in life.

“Do you think I’m enough if I don’t restore your friendships, your ministry, or your marriage?” This time, all I could muster was quiet on my side.

“Do I truly think that He is adequate for all of my needs?” I was asked to examine myself deeply and question myself.

“HowenoughYou are” is something I’d like to experience more and more of.” As a result, it was ultimately how I responded to Him.

Do-Able Prayers for Abiding

It was in Maui that I learnt to send up very basic do-able prayers that helped keep me in the state of a biding throughout my periods of meditation and contemplation. My life was returned to “moisture” as a result of my frequent reading of His Word, which kept me refreshed and encouraged. Rather than being peddlers of God’s Word, we are to be sincere individuals who have been commissioned by Him. In addition to this, after we have discovered our place of dwelling with Christ, we are able to diffuse the fragrance of Christ because we are the scent of Christ to God, and we bear the fragrance of life (2 Cor.

I offered up a number of do-able prayers throughout my time on Maui, and the following are some of my favorites.

  • I pray that the Lord will have mercy on me (Ps. 86:3)
  • That the Lord will impart His thoughts to me (1 Cor. 2:10, Isa. 55:8)
  • That the Lord will help me to submit my thoughts to You (2 Cor. 10:5)
  • That the Lord will test and examine my ways (Lam. 3:40
  • Jer. 17:10)
  • That the Lord will make my desires Your desires (Ps. 37:4)
  • That the Lord will help me to be faithful in small

Jesus, Our Ultimate Model

Jesus is our highest role model in terms of abiding by the law. As long as He was on this world, He was always in the state of staying with His Father. When His worried parents were seeking for Him at one time, He said, “Did you not know that I must be about my Father’s business?” (Luke 2:49) He inquired. It is true that one can only be about God’s business if one is in a state of submission to God. In the course of a recent Pastors’ Prayer Breakfast, we were divided into small groups to pray for one another.

  1. Those who have read John 5 may recall this pool and how it was famed for its therapeutic properties.
  2. He was in fact as near to the pool as he could reasonably get without actually leaping in himself.
  3. I saw that the pastor’s right side continued to carry out his ministry duties without interruption, while his left side, which was barely touching the water, was receiving all of the necessary refreshment and benefit.
  4. In this vision, we can see a wonderful application for ourselves in the current day, which is made possible by Jesus’ intercession.
  5. What happened yesterday, today, and tomorrow?
  6. His voice is constantly being heard by the Father on our behalf, 24 hours a day.
  7. 7:24–25; Rom.

Step into the Stirring Waters

For us, Jesus is always stirring up the waters of faith and life by His intercession, just as the Holy Spirit was busily awakening the therapeutic powers in Bethesda’s waters for the Israelites in the Old Testament. And while going about our daily lives, we may enter into that wonderful place of staying and get the full advantages of God’s movement to bring us water of life right where we are! Being a follower of Christ is not about our performance or what we can achieve for Him; it is about a relationship with Him that we engage in on a regular basis.

In the midst of our daily lives, Jesus is interceding for us, stirring up the streams of life and faith for us to wade into at any time.

When we bide our time with Christ, His aroma spreads from our lives to others in our immediate vicinity. Ginny Kisling’s Do-Able Prayer (2012) was the inspiration for this post. With permission, this image has been used.
