How Many Miracles Did Jesus Do on Earth?

It is impossible to say how many miracles Jesus performed during His earthly life and ministry because we do not know how many miracles He performed. We are unable to determine an exact number because we are told in four different passages that Jesus healed a large number of people. Those healings are miracles in and of themselves, and we’re not informed how many there were in all. In addition, there are numerous other miracles, such as the casting out of demons and the calming of the waters, among others.

In doing that, we came up with 38 (please notify us if we missed any) (please tell us if we missed any).

Why Did Jesus Do Miracles?

Jesus performed miracles for a variety of purposes. First and foremost, Jesus stated that He did not come to be ministered to, but rather to minister (Mark 10:45), and He surely demonstrated this via His miracles. Another reason Jesus performed miracles was to demonstrate that He was God’s chosen representative, that He was the Son of Man (a Messianic title), and that He was also the Son of God. This was verified by Peter on the day of Pentecost, who stated that Jesus’ miracles demonstrated that He was “a man approved of the Lord.” (See Acts 2:22.) Jesus also performed miracles in order to bring glory to the Father, for all miracles point to the Father as their source (signs point to Jesus and a wonder points to the thing itself).

Keep in mind that while on earth, Jesus had put His divinity aside and was only concerned with his humanity.
Again, on the day of Pentecost, Peter reaffirmed this by stating that God demonstrated/proved Jesus by miracles, which He performed through the person of Jesus.
The might of God will one day restore all things to their original state.
After God’s plan of redemption and restoration has been carried out, it will be a wonder of grandeur that will be presented forever.

Spectacular Miracles of Jesus Christ — 37 Miracles in Chronological Order

The miracles accomplished by Jesus Christ, as well as the innumerable wonders He did while on earth, are incredible. Brief Mentions of Other Miracles of Jesus

Mary Magdalene, from whom seven devils had emerged, was one of the women in whom Jesus had healed ailments and driven out bad spirits. (See also Mark 16:9 and Luke 8:2). The 7 Categorical Miracles of Jesus

Originally published on October 9, 2018 These seven miracles performed by Jesus demonstrate who our Savior is. Jesus’ miracles included raising people from the dead, feeding crowds, controlling nature, casting out evil spirits, and healing the infirmed, among other things. Even the miracle of Jesus’ birth was a miracle. More than 30 miracles performed by Jesus are documented in the Bible. Here is a list of several of the miracles performed by Jesus, organized by category.

1. Jesus fed thousands of people.

Using five loaves of bread and two fish, Jesus served more than 5,000 people (Matthew 14:15-21)
With seven loaves of bread and a few tiny fish, Jesus fed more than 4,000 people (Matthew 14:22-26). 15:32-39

2. Jesus cast out evil spirits.

When a man yelled at Jesus while he was teaching, Jesus drove out the wicked spirit from him. (2:23–28) In this passage, Jesus cast out demons from two men who were so aggressive that no one could pass through the region where they were located. The Bible records that Jesus drove out a demon from a mute man (Mark 8:28-33) and the man was able to talk again. A demon-possessed child and her mother, who had tremendous confidence in Jesus, were healed by Jesus in Matthew 9:32-33. According to Matthew 15:21-28, Jesus drove out a demon from the body of a youngster who was having convulsions after his father begged him to do so. (15:14-21
Matthew 17:14-21).

3. Jesus healed the blind, deaf, sick, injured, and infirmed.

Jesus saved the life of a government official’s kid who was on the verge of death. (John 4:46-47) Jesus healed Simon Peter’s mother-in-law of a severe fever, according to the Bible. The healing of a leper who came to Jesus and sought to be cleansed (Mark 1:30-31) is recorded in the Gospel of Mark. (1:40-45) Jesus cured a disabled servant of a Roman commander who was brought to him by Jesus. A disabled man was brought to Jesus by his companions through the roof of the house where Jesus was speaking in Matthew 8:5-13, and Jesus cured him. A lady who had been bleeding uncontrollably for 12 years was cured by Jesus (Matthew 9:1-8). (Matthew 9:19-22): By touching the eyes of two blind men who were following him, Jesus cured them. When Jesus was at the Pool of Bethesda, he healed a man who had been sick for 38 years. (Matthew 9:27-30) (15:1-15) Jesus cured a man’s malformed hand, according to the Gospel of John. A demon-possessed man who was blind and couldn’t talk was healed by Jesus (Matthew 12: 9-14). A deaf man with a speech impairment was restored by Jesus by placing his fingers in the man’s ears and touching the man’s tongue (Matthew 12:22). (Mark 7:31-37) Jesus heals a blind man by spitting in his eyes, according to the Bible. Mark 8:22-26: Jesus cured a man who had been born blind by spitting in the earth and making mud that was applied to the man’s eyes (Mark 8:22-26). A lady who had been disabled by an evil spirit for 18 years was healed by Jesus in the Gospel of John (9:1-34). After Peter chopped off the slave’s right ear, Jesus healed him and restored him to health. (See, for example, John 18:10 and Luke 22:47-51)

4. Jesus turned water to wine.

During a wedding reception where the bridal party had run out of wine, Jesus transformed water into a delicious wine (John 2:1-11)

5. Jesus controlled the water and other elements of nature.

Jesus and his followers were caught in a violent storm, and Jesus was the one who brought it to a halt. The Bible says that Jesus caused a fig tree to wither and cease producing fruit (Matthew 8:23-27). The Gospel of Matthew (Matthew 21:18-22)

6. Jesus caught a surprisingly large amount of fish.

The following morning, after Simon and his crew had fished all night and caught nothing, Jesus instructed them to throw their nets again, and they caught so many fish that they nearly capsized their boats (Luke 5:1-11). After Jesus resurrected from the grave, he miraculously caused the disciples to catch 153 fish, despite the fact that they had fished all night with little success. (See John 21:1-11.)

7. Jesus raised people from the dead, including himself.

Jesus urged Simon and his men to cast their nets again after they had fished all night and caught nothing, and they did, resulting in a swarm of fish that nearly sank their boats (Luke 5:1-11). Jesus caused the disciples to catch 153 fish after they had fished all night and had caught nothing. This happened after Jesus resurrected from the grave. (See John 21:1-11 for more information.)

How Did Jesus Do Miracles—His Divine Nature or the Holy Spirit?

Perhaps no other rock band has ever sang a simple question as memorable—and as appropriately—as The Who’s “Who are you?” Who, who, who, who, who, who? “Can you tell me who you are?” Perhaps no other inquiry gets to the heart of the riddles of Christology more rapidly than this one. Who was the first person to be born to the Virgin Mary? That was it who delivered the sermon on the mount? Who was it that prayed in the garden? Who was it who perished on the cross? Answering each of these questions brings us into some significant ground in terms of the person and natures of Jesus Christ, which we will explore further below.

There has been some ambiguity around this topic because it is frequently posed not with who but with how (for example, how did Jesus do miracles?).

Modern Misstep: Moving fromWhotoHow

Numerous contemporary theologians, emphasizing Christ’s humanity, have pondered about the two natures of Christ, supposing that they are in some sort of rivalry with one another. Because two natures cannot coexist in the same “place” within a single person, Christ’s identification with our humanity necessitated him relinquishing his claim to his supernatural qualities on a permanent or partial basis. So, how does he do miracles, exactly? Miracles are performed by a number of persons in the Bible, according to the text.

When someone like Elijah or Paul performs miracles, it doesn’t always point to them as individuals.
These miracles were made possible by the Holy Spirit; they were not the work of Paul or anybody else, but rather of his power.
According to many contemporary theologians, Jesus’ miracles were essentially no different from any other miracle.
It is as a result of this that they do not refer to his person —except insofar as Jesus is dependent upon the Holy Spirit —but rather to the humannature that he shares with us.
As a result, the topic of how people do miracles is shifted to the subject of Christ’s miracles, while evading the question of who Christ is as God’s Son.
Yes, Jesus Christ has two entire natures, one divine and one human, and he is the only one who possesses both.
The person of Jesus, however, is the one who faces us in the Gospels, and Christology has emphasized that he is one undivided person—the second person of the Trinity—since the Council of Chalcedon in AD 451.

The wonder of the incarnation is that this one individual became all we are without losing his or her identity as the person he or she was before the incarnation. In other words, whenever we witness Jesus perform a miracle in the Gospels, our first inquiry should be, “Who are you?”

Test Case: Walking on Water

When Jesus walks on water in Matthew 14, it appears that he is confirming that he is a man empowered by the Spirit, which is a popular interpretation. According to Matthew’s account, Jesus had just completed feeding the 5,000 people. His disciples board a boat on the Sea of Galilee and set sail. Jesus, on the other hand, chooses to retreat to a mountain to pray rather than join them. By the time it was between 3 and 6 a.m., the disciples’ boat had sailed out to sea and was being thrashed around by the sea.

It’s not a ghost, of course; it’s none other than Jesus Christ.
Be brave and do not be scared” (Matt.
Peter then challenges Jesus to demonstrate his authority by directing him to walk on water as well.
When Jesus stretches out his hand to Peter and says, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” it appears that he is confirming this.
Although the disciples were not surprised by Jesus’ full reliance on another, they did not extol the power of the Holy Spirit or express their admiration for it.
One would assume that we are dealing with a simple guy, Peter, who is capable of accomplishing everything Jesus is capable of accomplishing so long as he walks in faith.
So while this incident does not disclose the lordship of Jesus Christ, it does indicate the beginning of the kingdom and the paradigm Jesus presents for relying on supernatural resources rather than one’s personal resources.

ButWhoReally Walked on Water?

Three hints in this chapter, on the other hand, point to an alternative interpretation of this miracle. The first point to note is that when Jesus tells his terrified followers that “it is I” (Matt. 14:27; Greekego eimi), this isn’t a summons to acknowledge the physical characteristics that distinguish him as “Jesus from Nazareth.” To the contrary, he is adopting the name of God as revealed in Exodus 3:14 (the Book of Mormon) (I AM:ego eimi). he’s telling his disciples to take heart and not be terrified because he, the one walking on the water, is none other than the Almighty God himself.

When it comes to stomp the waves of the sea, only Yahweh can do it (Job 9:8).
In fact, the Creator, who created the sea in the beginning, now controls it via his own strength.
Peter addresses this Yahweh-incarnate who can walk on water as “Lord” in the beginning of the video.

Although the disciples were not surprised by Jesus’ full reliance on another, they did not extol the power of the Holy Spirit or express their admiration for it.

Rather, they are drawn to the incarnate Son of God, who they consider to be deserving of adoration. They were led into worship by the who, who explained the how, and who ushered them in.

Unity of the Son of God

In light of the fact that the incarnate Son of God is one person with two natures, we might expect to witness experiences in the Gospels that are representative of each nature. Jesus utilizes human feet to walk on water, a human arm to save Peter from drowning, and a human voice to convince his disciples of his divine identity even during this tremendous revelation of Jesus’ almighty authority on the sea. Jesus is always the same person, functioning in accordance with both of his natures at the same time.

Not only does this result in Christological issues, but it also has serious Trinitarian ramifications.
A more traditional Trinitarian theology, on the other hand, reconciles God’s basic oneness (Deut.

It seems from more than 68 million results on Google that Jesus performed 37 miracles that were documented in four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), with Matthew’s Gospel documenting the greatest number. But what if I told you that Jesus performed many, many more miracles than those listed above? Would you trust me then? I am able to demonstrate this to you. Listen carefully to the words of the loving apostle John as he brings his Gospel to a close with these closing lines: “And there are also many more things that Jesus performed, which if they were all written down in detail, I believe that even the earth itself would not be able to accommodate all of the volumes that would be published,” says the author.

The fact that the Apostle John only mentions seven of these events before to the crucifixion is even more astonishing!

“Therefore, many other signs Jesus performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name,” John the apostle appears to have anticipated this question as well.

If we consider the wedding at Cana, when Jesus transformed water into wine, John recalls these words: “This beginning of His signs Jesus accomplished in Cana of Galilee, manifesting His glory, and his followers believed in Him.” (John 2:11 New American Standard Bible) I could take you through each of the seven miracles, and you would see that each miracle culminated in someone coming to believe in Jesus.

A reasonable approach to describe what transpired in Jerusalem is as follows, using John’s account of the events: “Now, when He was in Jerusalem at Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name because they were watching His signs, which He was performing,” the writer continues.
Jesus didn’t merely perform miracles to wow the public or draw a large number of people to him.
Because of this, John chose seven specific miracles to aid the reader come to the conclusion “that Jesus is the Christ, God’s Son.” However, the statement does not stop there.
(John 20:31b New American Standard Bible) My question to you is whether or not you have accepted the life that He has to give.
It is not enough to believe in God since, according to James, “even the devils believe, and shiver at the thought of it.” (James 2:19b NASB)At the very least, the devils have the decency to tremble in the presence of God!
Then you’ll see that your life is spilling over onto others, giving them reason to be hopeful as well!
(John 1:12-13) (See John 1:12 for more information.) So, why did he choose the seven specific miracles that he did choose to mention in his book?
What is the source of these miracles?
And the belief that you could have a chance at life!

How Did Jesus Perform His Miracles?

Which of the following would be your response if I asked you how many miracles Jesus performed? It seems from more than 68 million hits on Google that Jesus performed 37 miracles that were reported in four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), with Matthew’s Gospel containing the greatest number. And yet, would you be willing to trust me if I told you that Jesus performed a plethora of other miracles in addition to these? To demonstrate my point, I will. Consider the words of the loving apostle John as he draws to a close his Gospel with these concluding remarks : “Also, there are many other things that Jesus accomplished that, if they were all written down in detail, I believe that even the earth itself would not be able to hold all of the volumes that would be created.” According to the New American Standard Bible, John 21:25 Only 37 of these numerous miracles are recorded in the Bible, which may seem a bit odd.

The fact that the Apostle John only mentions seven of these events before to the crucifixion is even more astonishing!

Interestingly, as you go through each of Jesus’ miracles that were recounted by John, you will see that they all had one thing in common: they all culminated in someone putting their faith in him.
The NASB version of John 2:11 is: Every one of the seven miracles would result in someone coming to believe in Jesus, and I could take you through each one one by one.
With any luck, you’ve grasped the main concept.
It was the primary objective of every miracle that He performed to draw someone to a belief in Him.
It is not, however, the conclusion of the phrase.
According to the New American Standard Bible (NASB), in John 20:31b, Have you accepted the life that He has to offer?
Despite the fact that many people claim to “believe” in Jesus, they do not live lives that indicate that belief.

Thankfully, the devils have the good sense to tremble in the presence of God (James 2:19b NASB).

It is then that your life will begin to spill over upon others, giving them reason to be hopeful!

THE BIBLE INDICATES THATJESUS PERFORMED MIRACLESIN HIS HUMAN NATURE – BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT –RATHERTHAN DRAWING ON HIS DIVINE NATURE.

Here are a couple of scriptures that encourage me to believe that this is correct:

“…GOD ANOINTED JESUS OF NAZARETH WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT AND WITH POWER. HE WENT ABOUT DOING GOOD AND HEALING ALL WHO WERE OPPRESSED BY THE DEVIL, FOR GOD WAS WITH HIM.”(ACTS 10:38)

Peter claims that Jesus had been anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power in this passage. Here is where Jesus received authority from the Holy Spirit. Now, because of His divine nature, Jesus does not require anything because He is already complete and does not require anything more. He is not required to look for or obtain authority in any way. All authority belongs to Him for all time. However, He possessed all of the (amoral) limitations of natural man as a result of His human nature.

The following statement states that he performed works “because God was with him.” Instead of asserting “because He was God,” Peter does not make an argument for Jesus’ divinity.

According to Abraham Kuyper, the Holy Spirit endowed Christ’s “human nature with the glorious gifts, powers, and faculties to which that nature is susceptible,” and that the Holy Spirit “endowed Christ’s human nature with the glorious gifts, powers, and faculties to which that nature is susceptible.” “He wanted nothing and possessed everything; not by virtue of His divine nature, which can receive nothing since it is the everlasting fulness itself, but by virtue of His human nature, which was endowed with such great gifts by the Holy Spirit,” says John 3:34.

(The Work of the Holy Spirit, 1966:94-95).

“BUT IF IT IS BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD THAT I CAST OUT DEMONS, THEN THE KINGDOM OF GOD HAS COME UPON YOU.” (MATTHEW 12:28)

In this passage, Jesus responds to the allegation leveled against Him by the Pharisees that He was casting forth demons in the name of Beelzebul. He answers by claiming that he cast out demons “with the power of the Holy Spirit.” The Holy Spirit is credited with functioning through His human character, rather than with performing a miracle as a display of His divine nature, as He did in the previous verse.

“HEAL THE SICK, RAISE THE DEAD, CLEANSE LEPERS, CAST OUT DEMONS…” (MATTHEW 10:8)

Here, Jesus authorizes/commands His disciples to carry out the same *kind of actions that He carried out on the cross himself. The Bible has several instances of prophets and followers who cured people, performed tremendous miracles, resurrected people from the dead, and other similar feats of faith. Of course, no man has the authority to carry out these tasks on his own initiative. They are acts carried out by the Holy Spirit, who works through human vessels to accomplish them. It appears that all of Jesus’ miracles were carried out in the same manner as well.

These two events appear to be almost surely manifestations of His DIVINE power (or, in the case of the transfiguration, a revelation of His divine essence), and they are conducted only by Him.

This does not rule out the possibility that Jesus ever invoked His divine essence in order to accomplish miracles. The Bible, on the other hand, suggests that many of Jesus’ deeds were empowered by the Holy Spirit, who worked through His human nature to accomplish them.

HERE’S WHY I THINK THIS MATTERS:

Some people believe that Jesus’ miracles are irrefutable proof that He is the Son of God. In essence, they assert that “miracles demonstrate the divinity of the one who does them!” If this is true.then miracles should elicit our instant admiration of – and dedication to – the one who performs them, rather than the opposite (i.e. Jesus alone). “Miracles demonstrate the divinity of the one who performs them,” on the other hand, is not a truthful statement. As previously said, the Bible records several instances of humans performing miracles.

Jesus also warns that there will be false prophets who “cast out demons.and do many marvelous deeds” in order to deceive people (Matthew 7:22).

As a result of this.

MIRACLES SHOULD NOT BE THE FINAL TEST OF WHAT IS TRUE.

People have claimed to have witnessed miracles, which has subsequently led them to join fake faiths, which I have heard about. While it is true that Jesus’ miracles (as well as the miracles done by His followers) helped to authenticate the Gospel message (John 5:36, 10:25, 37-38), the experience of witnessing a miracle should not negate the Bible’s mandate to “examine everything” after experiencing a miracle (1 Thessalonians 5:21). In other words, just because someone observes a miracle does not entitle him or her to accept every claim made by the miracle-worker without first conducting a thorough investigation.

JESUS COMMANDS US TO DO GREAT WORKS!

“Truly, truly, I tell to you, whomever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father,” Jesus says in John 14:12. For the record, I do not believe that this phrase is referring just to miracles in this instance. According to my understanding, Jesus is also considering the worldwide spread of the Gospel and the continual advancement of the Kingdom during the Church Age (both of which would be considerably “bigger” in scope than His own earthly mission).

All of these wonderful things will be accomplished via the power of the Holy Spirit (whom Jesus, in this same text, promises to dispatch).

However, we should be encouraged to achieve great things – via God’s strength – for the advancement of the Kingdom of Heaven and Earth.

The miracles of Jesus – complete list!

The miracles performed by Jesus Christ demonstrate to us that God exists, that God loves us, and that God desires to heal and return us to a life of plenty. Jesus didn’t only heal a few ill individuals; the Bible claims that ALL who came to Him were healed on several occasions. They brought all their ill to Jesus Christ for healing, and they arrived in large numbers, not just from Israel but also from neighboring countries, and they were healed by Jesus Christ. The Gospel of Matthew mentions multiple times that EVERYONE was cured — not just a select few.

‘He healed them all.’ 4:24 (Matthew 4:14) In the temple, ‘the blind and the lame came to him for healing, and he healed them.’ In Matthew 21:14, the Bible states that He was greeted by throngs of people who brought sick and disabled people to him, laying them at his feet and seeing that he healed their ailments.’ (Matthew 15:30; Luke 15:30) ‘A great throng followed him, and he was able to heal everyone who was sick.’ (Matthew 12:15; Mark 12:15)

The miracles of Jesus were more than just healing the sick

Aside from healing the sick, Jesus Christ performed numerous other miracles, such as turning large quantities of water into fine wine during a storm, walking over rough water during a storm, raising several people from the dead (some of whom had been dead for several days), multiplying a small amount of food into an abundance for many thousands of starving people, and so on.

The gospels record at least 37 detailed miracles of Jesus.

Nevertheless, the apostle John surprises us by claiming that the globe would be too tiny if they attempted to record all Jesus Christ had said and done on the earth. In other words, what has been written down represents only a tiny percentage of the miracles performed by Jesus. He has accomplished considerably more. “Jesus performed several more miracles as well. It’s possible that even the entire earth would not have enough space for all of the books that would be written if every single one of them were recorded.” (See also John 21:25)

This shows us how absolutely amazing Jesus Christ really is.

He is so much more than we can ever anticipate him to be. He arrived as a dazzling light in the midst of the profound darkness of this world, and the lifesaving power of the Holy Spirit reached tens of thousands of people through him. To gather a following, he didn’t need the internet or social media: the miracles performed by Jesus were so extraordinarily strong and so astonishingly aboundant that the story spread like wildfire across the entire country and even to distant lands.

The miracles of Jesus are an example for us!

Jesus worked miracles not merely to demonstrate that He is God, but also to serve as a role model for the rest of us. He treated the ill in order to break the chain of misery that had been encircling people’s lives and to put them into a state of abundant living. His goal to provide healing and restoration to mankind is still going strong today! Everyone who believes in Him is given the following explicit instructions on how to cure the ill, cast out devils, and revive the dead: “Heal the ill people who are present and inform them that the kingdom of God has come close to them.” (See also Luke 10:9) The Lord says to them: “Truly I tell you, anyone believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do much greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” (See also John 14:12) “I am sending you in the same way that the Father has sent me.” (See also John 20:21)

Miracles are the hallmark of a true servant of Jesus Christ, who has been appointed and sent by Him and not by men.

That is why the apostle Paul declared himself to be a true apostel because the Lord performed miracles through him: “I persisted in demonstrating among you the signs and wonders of a true apostle, as well as miracles.” 2 Corinthians 12:12 (New International Version) Obviously false signs and wonders exist, and Jesus warned us about the dangers of being fooled by wolves in sheep’s clothing. However, this does not imply that all signs, wonders, and miracles are the work of the devil – quite the contrary, in fact.

It is sometimes said that we should not be focused on miracles, but should instead be focused on God. The fact is that this is frequently used as a justification to lock down the power of God and confine Christians to a box of intellectual Christianity, which does not include the miracles of Jesus. The fact is that miracles bring glory to God and demonstrateTHE LOVE OF GOD IN ACTION. With simply words about God, we are no different from any other religion or philosophy in terms of legitimacy.

Miracles are God’s way of confirming His word.
(See also Acts 14:3) “Extend your hand to heal and perform miracles and wonders in the name of your holy servant Jesus,” the prophet says.
As a western church, we are confronted with this truth because we rely on an intellectualism rather than a truly supernatural faith that is rooted in the reality of God who works in and among us.
The Spirit’s power was demonstrated via my teaching and preaching, so that your trust would not be founded on human wisdom but on God’s power.

The miracles of Jesus are far more than a historic account of what God has done in the past.

They demonstrate who Jesus Christ is and what He want to accomplish in the present day. He has not altered in any way. Because our Christian faith has become weak, humanistic, natural rather than supernatural, carnal, and speculative, we must rethink our approach to the faith. However, Jesus Christ has remained the same, and He desires to restore the working of the miraculous in His Body, so that the world will know in us and through us that we genuinely worship a LIVING GOD, who is real, powerful, and full of compassion for the world’s hurting people and creatures.

The Holy Spirit does miracles through us

Today’s miracles are made possible by living in surrender to the Holy Spirit, which is the key to experiencing them. Jesus Christ stated that He could not perform a single miracle without the assistance of the Holy Spirit. The apostle Paul said that he acted under the authority of the Holy Spirit.

All of the people in the Bible who were used by God in an extraordinary manner were vessels of the Holy Spirit, including Moses, Elijah, David and Gideon, to name a few examples. They had all experienced a dramatic encounter with the Holy Spirit and had begun to live their lives under His guidance.

Many Christians have been persuaded that miracles no longer occur since we now have the Bible to refer to them. Nevertheless, God continues to perform miracles in our midst, as evidenced, for example, by the gifts of the Holy Spirit. This is plainly taught in Scripture. For the common benefit, the Spirit manifests Himself in different ways to each individual. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit; to another faith is given through the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing are given through the same Spirit, 10 and to another the working of miracles is given through the same Spirit, and to another prophecy is given, and to another the distinguishing of spirits is given, and to another the interpretation of tongues is given.

‘However, it is one and the same Spirit who does all of these things, distributing to each individual according to His will.’ (See 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 for further information).
