Who Is Jesus?

According to a well-known historian, Jesus Christ is the primary character in the history of Western civilisation, regardless of how you feel about him as an individual. Jesus, a guy who was brutally rejected by some and passionately revered by others, continues to be divisive now as he was then. However, the majority of the population is still unaware of who he really was, why he was actually here, or what he truly claimed to be. Who Is Jesus? is intended to be a brief introduction to the life, words, and eternal importance of Jesus Christ.

Who Is Jesus?

Note from the editors: This is an excerpt from Trip Lee’s preface to Greg Gilbert’s new book, Who Is Jesus? (Crossway). Have you ever mistook someone for someone else because they looked similar? During my high school years, I recall attending a party with my best buddy. We had only just arrived when we noticed our buddy Nicole, who was having a fantastic time in the corner of the room. Since Nicole and her pregnant friend had spent the previous day with us, it seemed only natural that we would stroll over and say hello to them.

  • And she was in no way, shape, or form expecting a child.
  • Making misconceptions regarding other people’s identity may be both embarrassing and amusing at the same time.
  • It is the subject of Greg Gilbert’s latest book, “Recognizing Others,” to recognize another’s identity, but the stakes are far higher.
  • The fact that we’ve misidentified Jesus is more than just humiliating; it’s downright dangerous.
  • To seekers, skeptics, and perhaps even some Christians, this issue may seem ludicrous, but if you continue reading, you will realize why it is such a crucial one to consider.
  • In other words, it’s about treating him with the respect and trust that he deserves.
  • Nevertheless, if Jesus is the Son of God and the sole Savior for the entire world, then knowing him makes all the difference.

Who Is Jesus?

It was actually rather enjoyable to read.

This book is also one of my favorites because it is loaded with Scripture.

He is just concerned with the historical facts as they actually exist.

Rather than relying on the evidence of historians who have never met him, Greg prefers to rely on the testimony of genuine eyewitnesses who have.

This results in a work that is authoritative and has the ability to change lives.

What was his claim to fame? And is it the person he truly is? There is no better compact book I can think of to assist you in answering those questions. I believe you will be as fortunate as I was as a result of it.

Who Is Jesus? by Greg Gilbert

The question, “Who is Jesus?” is one that has remained central to biblical Christianity throughout history. Throughout the history of the Church, this has been a topic that has been discussed, debated, and even battled about on several occasions. Even today, the question “Who is Jesus?” continues to generate considerable disquiet among the general public. Within each of their respective epistles, both the Gospel authors and the Apostles respond emphatically to the question, “Who is Jesus?” While there is no shortage of material on Jesus, much of the information that comes out of the inquiry, “Who is Jesus?” comes from individuals who are involved in academic pursuits.

  • What has been lacking is a greater number of works created for lay people that answer the question, “Who is Jesus?” Thanks to Greg Gilbert’s Who Is Jesus?, we finally have a definitive answer.
  • This part of Luke concludes with the remark in Luke 9:51 that Jesus had turned His face toward Jerusalem.
  • In his Gospel, John devotes a significant amount of time to clarifying who Jesus is.
  • Understanding who Jesus is, according to the Gospel authors, leads to living out the demands of the Gospel message.
  • While the Gospel authors highlight that reality in story form, the epistles lay it out much more clearly, notably Paul’s focus on the completed work of Christ as the driving force or fuel that propels or fuels the Christian’s devotion to Christ and service to others.
  • He accomplishes this by confronting contemporary misconceptions about Jesus’ person and work, and then attempting to demonstrate the supremacy of Jesus and the efficacy of His rescuing act.
  • Gilbert also addresses the subject of Christ’s resurrection.

Considering that, as the Puritans taught, Jesus divided His audience, this is especially relevant today.

It was after He uttered difficult things that they decided not to follow and obey Him that they decided to cease following Him.

They are looking for a cuddly Jesus, or a Jesus who would entertain and delight them.

They are interested in hearing how Jesus will provide consolation to them in the middle of their everyday life.

And even if they do desire it, they don’t want to hear about the requirements of the gospel.

Most people have replaced the biblical Jesus with a Jesus of their own creation, preferring instead to bask in the beauty of the Resurrected Christ.

This is something we ought to do with gentleness and respect, because He has called us to be holy as a consequence of our new inheritance in Him!

This is one of the reasons why I endorse Greg Gilbert’s Who Is Jesus?

If you’ve never looked into who Jesus is or what He expects of you before, I encourage you to use this book as a beginning point.

Every Christian will profit from reading this book and developing in their knowledge and comprehension of Christ’s finished work, in my opinion, and I strongly recommend it. Purchase the book from Amazon or WTS Books.

What Is the Gospel? by Greg Gilbert

What Is the Message of the Gospel? In what way do Christians refer to the “gospel of Jesus Christ” and what exactly do they mean by that? Considering that the word “gospel” literally translates as “good news,” when Christians speak of the gospel, they are simply sharing the good news about Jesus. However, this is not simply any wonderful news; it necessitates a response! It’s a communication from God, saying, “Good news, everyone! “Here’s how you may avoid being subjected to my judgment!” That’s an announcement that you can’t afford to ignore at this point in time.

  1. Since the early Christians shared the good news about Jesus, the church has been structured on the following questions:.
  2. Who created us, and to whom do we owe our allegiance?
  3. What exactly is our issue?
  4. What is the remedy to our situation that God has provided?
  5. How can I be a part of his solution in any way?
  6. 1.We owe a debt of gratitude to God.
  7. 3.The remedy provided by God is salvation via the person of Jesus Christ.

As a quick recap, consider the following points: God, humanity, Jesus Christ, and Our Reaction are all discussed.

As a result, if you get that point wrong, you will be wrong on everything else.

It is necessary to comprehend this in order to comprehend the wonderful news of Jesus Christ.

Is it possible to be loving and good?

All of this is correct.

That debunks almost 90 percent of what people now believe they know about God, according to the Bible.

In order to appreciate exactly how magnificent and life-giving the gospel of Jesus Christ is, we must first recognize that God is also holy and just in his character.

Includingours!

However, when Adam disobeyed God and ate the one fruit that God had specifically forbidden him from eating, that communion with God was severed.

They were defying his power over their life in this manner.

According to the Bible, “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.none is righteous, not one” and “all have fallen short of the glory of God” (Romans.

Despite this, we frequently consider our crimes to be nothing more than minor infractions of a divine traffic regulation.

Sin, on the other hand, is far more than that.

You will begin to realize why “the wages of sin is death” once you have grasped this understanding of sin (Romans 6:23).

Those who do not believe in the gospel are condemned to an eternity of active judgment in a location known as “hell,” according to the Bible.

Every single one of us will be held accountable before God on the day of judgment.

But… JESUS CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD The term “Christ” literally translates as “anointed one,” and it refers to the practice of anointing a monarch with oil when he is crowned.

During the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry, he said to the crowds, “The kingdom of God is near.” “Repent and put your faith in the good news!” God had promised his people hundreds of years ago that he would come in the form of a mighty King to save them from their sins.

right now!

Because of their defiance against God, Jesus came to die in their place, to accept the penalty they deserved for their sin.

The judgment of death that God had pronounced upon disobedient sinners was carried out by the angels.

This is for you and me!

Jesus the Crucified has risen from the grave.

Not only is he King Jesus the Crucified, but he is also King Jesus the Crucified and Resurrected, as well!

He anticipates our response to be one of repentance and faith.

Our repentance does not imply that we will immediately cease our sinful behavior.

And we do so with confidence in God.

It is a confidence in the risen Jesus to redeem you from your sins that is based on a promise.

Those who trust in him are not condemned.

It seems likely that if God is ever going to regard us as righteous, he will do so on the basis of someone else’s record, someone who is competent to act in our place.

That is what faith is all about: putting our confidence in Jesus and relying on him alone to stand in our place and secure a just judgement from God on our behalf.

That Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who endured the death that you deserved as a result of your sins, and rose again?

It is possible to tell him in words like this if that is your true conviction.

I put my faith in you to forgive me of my sins and grant me eternal life.

There is so much more to learn from the Holy Spirit, who comes to reside in the hearts of those who place their confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ! The following is the whole text of this tract.
