“how great is the love the Father lavished on us that we should be called (daughters) of God!” – 1 john 3:1
believer. forgiven. redeemed. accepted. wife. daughter. sister. aunt. friend. discipler. speaker. writer. consultant. facilitator.
In Lisa’s 20+ years of women’s ministry, the Lord has cultivated her passion and compassion for the unique struggles women face each day. Her ministry centers on sharing with other women her Scripture-based understanding of God’s lavish love through humor, personal real-life stories, and her unique twist on life as a lavishly-loved daughter of God.
Lisa has worked primarily with teenage girls and women since 1984 in a variety of settings and she has seen and heard just about everything that impacts women in our culture today. She has served as a youth minister, a director of a crisis pregnancy center, a Minister to Women, and president of the Junior League of Collin County, an all-women volunteer organization with nearly 1000 members.
Currently Lisa is in fulltime women’s ministry again – focusing her efforts on Seasons of Sabbath, a ministry Lisa founded in June 2010 that provides silent prayer retreats for women. She also is a sought-after women’s retreat speaker and luncheon speaker on topics ranging from Bible study and spiritual encouragement to leadership training and team building. She is a certified meeting facilitator and serves as a consultant for nonprofit organizations and for-profit businesses on team building, volunteer, and development opportunities.
Lisa’s other professional work varies from serving as the Interim Executive Director for Leadership Plano, a program of the Plano Chamber of Commerce; the Community Relations Director for Need Him Ministries, an international evangelism ministry based in Plano; and the Community Relations Director for Plano Profile magazine. She continues to be a contributing columnist for the magazine.
In June 2012, Lisa was named as one of the “Top Ten Women of Collin County” by community businesses and nonprofits for her commitment to volunteerism and leadership development. Among her volunteer activities, Lisa serves on the Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano – Board of Trustees. She serves on the Leadership Council for Collin Baptist Association and the Resolutions Committee for the Baptist General Convention of Texas. She was cited as one of the “21 for the 21st Century” by Inside Collin County Business; has been honored as the “Civic Leadership Volunteer of the Year” by the Volunteer Center of Collin County; and named as one of the inaugural “Mentors of the Year” by the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center.
In her spare time, you will usually find Lisa and her husband, Scott, with their family and friends. They enjoy babysitting Reilly and Ryan, their nieces, one weekend a month (and, yes, Lisa’s sister and brother-in-law do know that they are the BEST aunt and uncle in the world!). For fun, Lisa enjoys reading, party planning & hosting, home decorating, and going to movies.
She holds a BA from the University of Tennessee, and a Master of Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth. Lisa and Scott were married in 1985, and have lived in Texas ever since!

Tracie first developed a heart for women in her early 20’s, after being mentored by an older woman once a week for four years. At that time, the Lord impressed upon Tracie that her call was to help women become ‘emotionally healthy and spiritually grounded so they could reach their potential in life.’ For the last 10 years, she has lived out that calling as an inspirational speaker, Bible teacher and mentor for teens, young women and singles.
Tracie’s heart for ministry began when she accepted Christ as a teenager. Upon graduating from the University of Alabama, she accepted a position at a Christian radio station in Birmingham, AL. For the past 10 years, she has served at several leading para-church ministries including Women of Faith, Hope for the Heart and John Maxwell’s Ministry. Kat Cannon

Real Bible-lovin’ Gal
Kat Cannon serves as the Women’s Ministry Director at First Evangelical Free Church (FEFC) in Austin, Texas. She came up through the ranks of small group leaders, administrators, and steering committee membership over the course of 10 years to be appointed as the Director in April of 2010. Her desire is to build relationships among women and with God – relationships that are REAL – transparent, authentic, and based on God’s truth.
Kat realized her need for Jesus Christ as her Savior in 1992 while a student at the University of Texas at Austin. She later married the man who led her to Christ; she and Derry said their vows in 1994 just one day after graduating from UT. Since then, her life’s pursuit has been discovering God’s design for her, the “good works which God prepared in advance for [her] to do.” (Ephesians 2:10) That pursuit has led her through many “careers”, through healing from past abusive relationships, and through the dark hole of major depression – all to God’s glory. She now finds her greatest joys in serving the women of the body of Christ, teaching God’s word, and enjoying her husband and two children.
Kat’s messages are designed to bring the truths of Scripture to life and apply them to the struggles of women in the 21st Century. She longs to help women recognize the freedom they have in Christ – freedom from the lies of our culture, our enemy, and the pain of our past, and freedom to trust that God is who He says He is. She brings transparency and authenticity to her teaching, sharing her life experiences for the benefit of others. Her deep passion for God’s Word is evident as she relies on its transforming power for her and those she ministers to.
Kat enjoys speaking on a number of topics, including God’s “agape” love (1 John), His sovereignty and goodness (Romans 8:28-29), the preciousness of His Word, transforming our minds by the power of the Scripture (Romans 12:2), and images of Christ in the Old Testament. She also shares her experience with depression including truths and fallacies, practical suggestions for coping, and how she found God’s healing through the dark times in her life. She will be happy to customize a topic for your event.
Kat holds a ministry license in the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA). To learn more about Kat, visit her ministry website at www.katcannon.com. Recordings of her Bible teachings are available in the Women’s Ministry pages of www.fefc.org, or on the R.E.A.L. Women’s podcast on iTunes.

Collectively these women have experienced abandonment, disability, physical abuse, abortion, rape, suicidal thoughts, family drug addiction, disease, war, eating disorders, imprisonment, adoption, divorce, extreme poverty, kidnapping, racial injustice, death of children, death of parents, depression, miscarriage and betrayal. Holly Smith

When Holly prayed for the gift of understanding at age eight, she had no idea how God would answer in the coming years or what embracing this gift might cost. (Prov. 4:7b) A profound transformation of thinking came through hardship, loss, and an extended period of caring for the sick. Holly emerged from this season with an overcoming outlook, an awakening to God’s kingdom, and identification with others. Each trial had an application from the Bible to follow and inspire her perseverance. Her joy now is sharing about these unsearchable riches of Christ, transformation of thinking, living your own identity, and persevering faith. During this process of change, God taught Holly to hear His voice and be led by His Spirit.
She now believes the Bible is alive and God wants to express Himself through each of us. Holly shares with others how they can know God intimately and discover their identity and purpose. Love motivates her and a childlike excitement leads her to clues for releasing God’s kingdom perspective on earth, leaving old patterns and worldly values behind. Her prayer is to be able to share the secrets and tools she learned through this season of her life and condense the time it takes women to reach their destiny.
Holly has been married for thirty two years with two grown sons. Personal interests include jogging, fishing with her husband, driving in the mountains, and eating thin-crust pizza with friends.

Diane Machen
It was on a hot, summer day in July at a hospital in Dallas, hooked up to feeding tubes and in deteriorating health that Diane Machen discovered a “gift” that God had given her in a disease. Who would have guessed that a battle with Crohn’s disease could be a gift that changed her life? How could any trial be a gift? God’s unlikely gift to Diane gave her a testimony of hope. Now she encourages others to “unwrap the gifts” in their lives and find the treasures in their trials.
